Happy Phoenix Chinese Takeaway in Broxtowe

It is a worst Chinese take away I have ever try so far , when I was go in to collect my food , a young man in side to counter keep watching his phone , with dead face , and ignoring us , and we have to wait the personnel form kitchen to handle us , ok not everyone have a nice day , but the food taste really bad , highly not recommended I am 100% sure is this restaurant because I live 5 minutes walk away and it is not happen in this 3 weeks but a bit older

Really quick service. Food was ready bang on the collection time. Food was delicious, not greasy like some Chinese takeaways definitely order again!

Placed an order shortly after 6pm didnt received order till 8pm. I expect food may of been nice if it was actually hot, however chips were cold, chicken chow mein was cold. Not worth paying the high delivery charge to not have food for 2hours! We called at 7.10 and was told on the way, then called again at 7.40 which was met with apologies but no reason for the delay and was definetly no traffic and the journey should of only taken 10 mins. Disappointed.

Ordered from here many, many times. Every time, without fail, the food is late, but we've kept ordering because the food is really good. Unfortunately, once again, the food is late, and customer service on the phone is very poor. I think this is now the last time we're ordering from here. Such a shame considering our years of custom.

Wouldn’t even give one star if that was an option. Cannot comment on food as it arrived nearly 2 hours late so I turned it down as it was cold. Rang having to chase my order to say it was on it was after waiting 1 hour 10 mins and then having to ring back again another 20 mins later and they said they would ring to find out where the driver was… got a call back to say the driver was on my street still took another 10 mins for him to turn up saying he’d only just left and the restaurant were lying that he’d been left ages ago yet the food was luke warm. Took until the 3rd call for an apology. I would not recommend at all and definitely will not be returning. Fully ruined my evening!!!!

Have used Happy Phoenix a few times. Their great. Takeaways. Me and partner had Beef and Chicken curry. It was beautiful. Really strong. Which we like, not salty. Really tasty. Not always like that. Will order on a Saturday night again. Lovely 😍

Surprisingly excellent! Cannot understand the negative reviews here for this takeaway. Salt & chilli wings best I’ve had. Crispy shredded beef CRISPY!!! and delicious and not drowning in sauce. Excellent delivery too. Prompt and friendly.

Ordered from here as my usual local was closed. Unfortunately, my order took 1.5 hrs despite an original estimation of 15-35 minutes. The food was hot, but seemed to consist a lot of cheap frozen items that were nothing special and the Chow mein was very bland with little chicken in. I also ordered duck spring rolls which they called me to say they didn't have any although I got a cheaper alternative, there was no offer of a refund for the difference. The delivery driver then tried three doors before mine and then just waited at the end of the path and held the food out for me to come and get from him instead of coming to my door. Sadly, I won't be ordering again any time soon.

The lady boss is very easy-going, the staff is patient, the delivery personnel are professional and punctual with delivery times, and most importantly, it's the tastiest Chinese takeaway I've ever had.

Absolutely dreadful, we were so spoilt with the last owners. We had King Prawn Curry and Sweet and Sour Chicken. The curry was dark brown thick sauce that tasted like beef and you could feel the uncooked thickening dreadful, made me feel sick. The sweet and sour chicken balls were chunks of different sized chicken looked as if they had been doubly fried. The sauce was brown and didn’t taste like normal sweet and sour sauce. Avoid!!!

We ordered aromatic crispy duck and it was truly awful, burnt to a crisp, would never go there again.

Just moved into the neighborhood, and decided to try Happy Phoenix, though with some slight trepidation because of recent negative reviews. Don't believe them! Ordered a couple starters (sesame prawn toast and pork dumplings) and three mains (Singapore fried rice Kung Pao chicken, and the black pepper sauce house special). All items were delicious, and the food came out much faster than the initial estimate. Much better than takeaway standard - this is a really worthwhile place to try out. Highly recommended.

Had food tonight. Was disappointing. The chips looked like they were a week old, the curry sauce looked like wall paper paste and I only had 1 prawn ball, most of it went into the bin 🤢🤢🤢

Great Chinese takeaway with a vast menu

After moving further away from Happy Phoenix and not finding a good chinese, we returned to HP after 18 months, knowing that it had changed hands. Not disappointed - really good food, delivered well within the time they said. The rice was some of the best we've had. Will be staying with them from now on

Every time I visit Nottingham I visit the Happy Phoenix. Every meal I have had has been excellent, plenty of it, hot and freshly made. I will return again and again.

We had ordered from Happy Phoenix in Beeston before when it had changed hands and found it awful but being a long time has passed since then we thought we would give it another go as it very near to where we live..... absolutely terrible we had king prawn curry and fried rice and a banana fritter to follow...I would never recommend this place...it was truly horrible and I was promptly sick when I had finished it.... never again will we go there...

Ordered from here before never had a problem. This time waited 1hr40 after being told it would be no longer than an hour. Rang after 1hr20 told it would be any minute. Arrived after another 20 mins. Said I didn't want to pay full price - to be honest I would expect it free after that long. The delivery man told me £15 which was about half price so I paid him. He came back to my door 2 mins later and then told me it was £30. Handed the phone over to me was told over the phone no he had told me £30 all along. Absolute bull**** I know how much he told me. Customer service was disgusting. Handed the food back to him. Had to cook dinner late at night whilst settling two young babies who's routines were completely disturbed and were woken up by the deliveryman returning.

Must recommend The Happy Phoenix had a lovely meal from there last Friday night arrived on time was piping hot definitely be ordering from there again

Best Chinese takeaway in Beeston. Try the Malaysian Sambal Fried Rice if you can handle spiciness. Its amazing and pretty authentic Malaysian. Will order again

Not good at all i asked for a adults portion duck chowmein and she gave me a baby portion I paid 16 pound for that and for that price I should have got a big one so not happy at all and also they forgot to put the meat in

Brilliant Chinese had by myself and family. One of the best I’ve had - all freshly prepared and the flavour really comes through. Would recommend the crispy beef. Definitely coming back. Owners and staff are all lovely!

The first order we decided to try was Roast Pork Chop Suey, Kung Po Beef and Special Fried Rice. Roast Pork Chop Suey was delicious. Kung Po Beef was a bit bland, and Special Fried Rice contained more Chicken than anything else but was nice. Ordered for a second time, I had the same Chop Suey as i loved it, hubby went for Sezuan Beef, I said to make it a bit more spicy, they certainly did, maybe a bit too much haha. Chips were a disappointment but Special Fried Rice was a better mix of the ingredients listed

I had the most amazing takewways last Friday and again last nite. Very good choice. The food was of a very high quality and very hot on arrival both times. It was that good there was nothing left for the next day. Well done to the owner for serving such fantastic food and to all her staff especially June for her superb telephone manner and to our lovely delivery lady who was also very polite and pleasant. I strongly recommend that everyone tries ones of happy phoenix's lovely meals. Credit goes to the owner and her staff

Had a good chilli beef, enjoyed it and would recommend.

Not even worthy of 1 star. Worst Chinese I have ever had! Do not order from there! I ordered salt and pepper chips, salt and pepper chicken, egg fried rice & curry sauce. The chips looked like they had been fried over and over and were brown in colour full of grease. The salt and pepper chicken was small pieces, that overcooked that it was like a crisp tasted like there was no chicken in there. The curry sauce was brown in colour (unlike the normal yellowy colour of chinese curry) it tasted very salty and nothing like curry sauce. After complaining to the restaurant they said ‘thats just how we cook it’. No offer of refund or fresh food. After I said this wasnt acceptable they finally offered me a fresh chips. Appalling service and even worse food.

Ordered the Set Meal for 2 for collection. Satay chicken skewers and ribs were excellent. The sweet and sour pork Hong Kong style was divine. The beef and green peppers in black bean sauce was also very tasty. Most importantly, everything was hot and freshly cooked. How do I know? Because I arrived a bit early and watched them cooking it! Finally, no MSG aftertaste after eating the meal nor the next morning! Highly recommended!

Recently under new management, three of us ordered a Chinese meal, I had chicken and cashew nuts... it was under cooked and tasteless. My husband had a pancake roll which he didn't like at all. I couldn't even eat my food. Our friend ordered Singapore fried rice only to find it didn't contain any meat that he is used to and he said his main dish wasn't up to much, he also ordered pancakes and shredded duck but it wasn't shredded. We used to go to this Chinese a lot but now it has new owners we would never go there again, spent 38 pounds on the food as well, we all ended up feeling hungry and I for one have not felt right since....

First time ordering with the new Happy Phoenix, result bloody disgusting. Food Luke warm and a meal for £15 + which should of fed two easily but wouldn't of filled two tea plates.

I drove myself due to £3 delivery charge ..ariived only to find out it was cash only so had to goto a cash point..it tasted nice ..although taking my third spoon i found a fried hair ..naturally i threw it Away ..felt phisically ill ..almost had to vomit ..that would sugest they do not wear hair nets .first and last time ..i will not be goimh back waste of my money

Best Chinese take away we’ve had for ages!

Thks to CV19 we decided to treat our family to a Takeaway. I left it to our son in law. So perhaps I was a little sceptical. Helped by his wife he chose. HP for Saturday night. fairly early as we had two young grand children. By all counts it was a delightful experience. Looking at the Menu this was clearly laid out which made it easy for us to choose our preferences. Altho' it took 20 mins to get through it was easy to place an order for both parties. As arranged my daughter collected it paying Cash. and delivered our portions packed nicely in a box on which was written "Take care. Be safe" . The portions were generous the food was delightful and nice and hot. All in all a delightful experience which would to repeat soon as prices were very reasonable..

Real excellent Chinese during the government lockdown. Very pleased and will be coming again. Recommend the crispy chilli beef.

They are providing a great service and good food during the coronavirus crisis. We should continue to support businesses like this so that we can maintain some sort of normal life. I had a takeaway from the Pheonix and it was service as normal, good food delivered quickly. This is my go to place in Beeston for a Chinese takeaway Well done.

Much tastier food than other local businesses. King prawns and mushrooms is a favourite for us. Staff friendly. Don’t be put of by the look of the place.

Eat here about once a week. Never lets me down. I am extremely picky about Chinese take aways and this one is top notch. Delivery is always quick and efficient. Very well priced. It is cash only which is probably the only downside. Crispy Cantonese rolls are a great starter.

I rang to check that they delivered to Toton,which they did. The staff sounded very pleasant.The meal,which was for 9,arrived in good time and was very reasonably priced. It was simply delicious! Every item was fresh,and enjoyable. There were extras like spring rolls included. This made for a perfect family evening. We will definitely be ordering from here again soon. Thankyou.

My local Chinese that I have used for some seven years. Nothing special in terms of choice but the food is consistently good. Beef curry and pancake roll is my favourite. Closed on Tuesdays. Cash only. No web site.

After Wing Xing went from great to a total disappointment, the hunt was on for a new Chinese. Tried a couple which were decent but nothing special. Happy pheonix isn't on any of those online order sites, so I went and got a menu from the place and it was worth checking it out, don't let the aged shop front fool you, this place does some great takeaway, I have to mention the crispy chilli beef, the best I've ever had from a Chinese as it was actually crispy and not gone soft from resting in its sauce too long, you could tell this stuff was fresh and it actually tasted of beef! Everything else was great too and the pricing is competitive, they even threw a bag of prawn toasts (again better than others I've tried) and veg samosas on the house along with the standard prawn crackers. The woman on the phone was very polite and the order arrived pretty much exactly at their estimated time of 30 mins. This is going to be a regular from now on for sure!
