Lucky Wok Takeaway in Plymouth

Really poor food. It all felt quite lazy. Under cooked battered balls. Over cooked chips. Very disappointed.

Food took ages. Poor quality and also the curry sauce tasted anything but of curry it was also bright red. Customer service was just as bad, such a rude owner. Never again

Ordered a take away on line and asked for ASAP. The FoodHub ordering site they use has their menu and you just order and add to your basket as you go. I walked in at 1820 to a friendly smile which is always nice and my food was waiting. Good sized portions, hot and spicy as well as very tasty. This is our new local takeaway.

Burnt and unlike any Chinese I’ve ever had before

The food was fairly reasonable, but I'm sad to see that the owners respond to reviews by essentially blaming their taste buds without taking on any criticism.

We ordered from here on the 28/2/24. Food did turn up on time with a friendly driver. But the food wasn't great half a bag of chips, the noodles and sweet and sour chicken was tasteless and for what we payed it wasn't worth it. The only thing that was nice was the curry sauce.

Ordered from here as our usual takeaway is having refit. Very disappointed ordered few different meals but we didn’t enjoy any of it. Curry sauce was red! Not nice at all.

Very good selection of food and all very nice tasting.

What has happened here? Have had lovely meals but most recently things have changed. Inedible chicken and barely warm rice. Spicy chips were nice though.

Used to order Chinese from here majority of the time! But never agian the past few times ordering , food has been undercooked , chips are hard &dry I complained by going back into shop and there excuse was it’s suppose to be like that because of the provider they did cook us a new batch of chips which are better but this isn’t first time we’ve had a issue …

We had a delivery from here yesterday and OMG, it was excellent. Most Chinese takeaways these days are putting bbq sauce on their fried rice, but not these guys. We had the Lucky Wok's fried rice, which came with oyster sauce, and it was so delicious. The portion size was good and was delivered slightly ahead of time by the most friendly & courteous guy you can imagine. Safe to say, we will be ordering from here a lot in the future. Thank you so much guys.

The food didn't come after 2 hours they decided to tell us our order was never received despite us calling twice and asking to add to our order and them saying "no problem". We are hungry and annoyed now.

Very very disappointing. We are regular customers but tonight would not recommend. Did not taste right.

How this place is not a five star is completely beyond me🤣 i very rarely leave reviews but uber eats wouldnt let me so i thought id review here, i am really careful with where i order from and every chinese I normally get is so hit and miss, but i have ordered from lucky wok for over a year now and never had the tiniest problem, always hot, tasty food and delivery driver listens to requests on the uber eats app:)) very happy customer

Best Chinese I've had in Plymouth.

Possibly the worst takeaway I've ever had! Salt and pepper prawns/chicken that's never seen a crack of either tasteless soggy s*** chips as dry as hell and the omelette swimming in water (pic attached) and horrendous customer service when we asked for a refund!! (Were not Karen's either) DO NOT BUY FROM HERE!!

Absolutely scranned this meal, spent £50 (BARGAIN) and was the best Chinese I’ve ever had in my 47 years😅Chicken was succulent and juicy all you could ask for, definitely butchered well. 🐓I hoovered up every grain of fluffy rice. Feeling good tonight lads! WELL DONE LUCKY WOK 🍀💘

First time ordering tonight and not very impressed with what we ordered, Never before have I ever had a pink curry, tasted nice but looked unappealing, husband had a rendang curry and that was also in a pink curry sauce, not sure why pink in colour, definitely not a curry colour, won’t be ordering again sorry!!!

Consistently great takeaway. Piping hot and delicious food. Great service and loyalty scheme. Really good range of menu and great for vegetarians too.

Unfortunately not good for my wife and I rang up and ordered 6.50pm to be told would an hour , rang at 8.30pm to be told sorry we lost your order. Not impressed obviously cancelled order then they had audacity to try and ring my wife back twice, won't be using again 😒

My second time ordering, they have found lifelong customers with us. Comes very quickly compared to other places, extremely friendly on the phone and lovely food. As someone whose tried lots of different places this is by far the tastiest our family has had, my partner and parents in law agree. For reference we have egg fried rice, prawn toast, chicken curry, chicken balls, aromatic duck. Nothing is dry or greasy. Very happy to have finally found a chinese we can stick with.

Ordered beef and got chicken. Duck was 90% fat. King Prawn ThaiGreen Curry was bland and flaccid. I feel like I've been ripped off.

Never had a bad meal in the 4 years been using lucky wok.

By far the best takeaway in Plymouth. My partner and I are quite fussy when it comes to our Chinese food. Always very tasty and delivered on time when ordering after peak times, which people don’t seem to take into consideration when ordering at peak times that they’re order may take longer to arrive !!

Had Chinese from lucky wok for the first time in a while. I always order from here we don’t get it from any other Chinese but we will be finding a new Chinese now. The food was the worst Chinese we have ever had the foo yung just tasted like water and the noodles were so dry and had no taste to them what soever really disappointed and we will not be ordering from here again absolutely disgusting.

Food was dry peking special spring roll had more pastry than filling and the beef fried rice was so dry thought it was yesterday's and warmed up in the microwave won't use again

Terrible, everything tasted the same. Food arrived within 15 mins of ordering. So I think the food must have been microwaved. Binned all but one dish chicken balls.

We have just enjoyed a lovely meal from the Lucky Wok it was very tasty and the delivery was very prompt.

Fairly priced. Nice food. Good value box meals. Always nice staff

Best Chinese takeaway in Plymouth, never had a bad meal from them and ordered many times and will continue to order from them Their website gives you a great loyalty scheme and doesn't cost the earth to get enough points to help pay for following meals. Staff have always been great with us and even on the one time there was an issue they rectified it quickly and couldn't of been more apologetic Would recommend to anyone Thank you!

Amazing quick delivery. Food hot and lovely as usual. Really lovely polite staff.

Food is very expensive compared to other Chinese restaurants and the staff are awful. I recently ordered crispy chilli chicken in Thai sweet chilli sauce... It had no sauce and wasn't crispy. My salt and chilli chips were soggy and wet. My curry sauce was red (?!?!?!) and tasted nothing like curry. My mushroom fried rice (nearly twice as expensive as plain egg fried rice), had about 4 mushrooms in it. Also, this food (which was only half the order - the full order was another 4 items and worth £35)...LITERALLY arrived LESS than 10 minutes after I'd ordered it online...including delivery time. This in itself is suspicious and worrying as hell. I rang to complain and was treated horribly by the woman on the phone. She wouldn't let me speak, laughed at me and told me she needed to explain to me how to eat a Chinese!! She told me that the chicken dish (with Thai chilli sauce), was a "dry dish" and isn't supposed to have sauce. She shouted at me, threatened me when I asked her to stop shouting at me ("we have cctv and record our calls they'll know what we've talked about and that I'm not shouting" - this was while she was shouting) and then made me cry by being so unpleasant. She eventually got her manager to call me... Apparently because I was a repeat customer she could offer me 25% off my next order!!? Eventually she sent someone to pick up the food and refunded me the cost when I explained I wouldn't be eating there again. Both women were rude and patronising and non apologetic. Don't do it. Go to Imperial Garden, they're much better.

Just picked up our order. Ordered through the website for collection and was ready in 40 miniutes. It is New Year’s Eve. Food was lovely and hot. Will certainly use again. Thank you for making are not so normal New Year’s Eve pleasent

This has got to be the best in Plymouth for overall experience. Go online on your PC, select the dishes you want from a very user friendly menu, say you want delivery, pay by card and wait. You get a timer to watch and anticipate your food..... Ours has been delicious both times we have ordered from here. Today they were very quick but that did not detract from the food. It was lovely!!! Thank you so much Lucky Wok. That was just what I needed after working hard all day. We will be back to order again.

Ordered a house special chow mein and this is quite simply the worst food I have ever paid for. Incredibly bland, almost tasteless and badly cooked, the only real flavour it had was of seafood, on EVERY ingredient. Want soggy pork which is chewy and leaves a fish taste in your mouth? Then this is the place for you.. I have eaten from here before and found their food to be average in the past but the fact that they can provide a meal this bad means I will never order from here again, utterly revolting.

Used tonight...because our normal one was closed...result...WOW....Will definitely be using in future...piping hot....delicious food...keep up the good work. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED A*****

Food is great, delivery can sometimes be quite long, but it is a popular place!

Last night my partner ordered the set meal for one with a special curry with no peas and it was delivered with peas, we phoned and they were going to replace the whole order and we got it to have peas in once again, my partner then refused to eat it due to having peas and we phoned the store several times to no answer it is not acceptable I and expect to have a refund for the meal.

Had a meal from here last night at 21:46 and it was and edible, Call today to say about the dispicable meal and got told there is no way they can do anything today as should have call last night when they close If you want to waste your money buy food from here!!!

i know we are on lock down but it would have been nice to get some honey mustard sauce when u order something with honey mustard sauce. the Foo yung looked more like scrambled egg sprinkled into a stir fry. aside from my moan the food was fairly decent, but i'll wait till after lockdown before i try again .

The meal took nearly 3 hours from ordering to delivery,(bearing in mind we live less than 1.5 miles away). We phoned they kept saying 20 minutes. When we received the meal, the chicken and sweetcorn soup was liquid salt, inedible. Every ones food was rated very poor. Will not use again

Bought satay pork and soft fried noodles from here recently and was very impressed. Very tasty with good portion sizes and in comparison to other takeaways around Plymouth it was very well highly recommended

Gone down hill massively, won’t be getting food from here again. Popped in tonight to order and collect a Chinese takeaway, was very surprised that our order was ready within about 2 minutes but didn’t think too much about that until we got home with our food and could then see why, it’s clearly been pre-cooked and reheated, our chicken balls were like charcoal, really poor effort and the whole lot has gone in the bin and we are now having to reorder from somewhere else.

I really love the food all ways come steaming hot the staf are tlreally freindly they have all ways got time 2 stop n have a chat n the delivery drivers are really nice n feindly n have all ways got the time 2 have a quick chat n this is 1 of the best places 2 go if you really love chines food i can not spot any fults with them at all

I have especially chosen this establishment because I enjoy the food so much , and would recommend them to anyone. Good choice of meals, always piping hot ,spicy, very tasty and nothing is too much trouble. Very nice people indeed.

Great food friendly staff incredibly fast!

Ordering food online and paying upfront was our biggest mistake when dealing with this takeaway. Indicated delivery would take an hour but actually took 1 hr 40 mins. When contacted, the woman I spoke to just kept asking if I wanted the order or wanted to cancel - not very customer focused. Told me food was with the driver but still took another 40 mins before arrival. Gave the impression food had not been cooked. When food arrived it was cold and very poor quality. Will not be using this takeaway ever again.

Amazing! Yum! The best Chinese! Fresh, hot and tasty food. Always get a service with a smile if that be in store or delivery driver. I cannot recommend enough. I just wish they did fresh chips every time I order, not reheat them!

First time order, food arrived piping hot and on time, very hard to beat this quality. If you havent tried I recommend you do the food is never greasy and arrives hot.

My wife placed a delivery order with this Chinese and it was delivered within half an hour and it was piping hot and tasted lovely too. Well worth the order. I would definitely go there again.

Superb Chinese. Food has always been fantastic. It was the takeaway we ordered from when we moved from Hampshire and we haven’t order Chinese from anywhere else since!

Always eat here food is amazing. And last night the staff were especially amazing, my kid won't eat the rice without prawn crackers, the crackers had fallen out of the bag and when I asked, the delivery driver returned immediately to give us the FREE crackers. Thankyou!

Since moving to Plymouth I have tried a lot of takeaway places and when it came to Chinese takeaways this place is the best by far. It is slightly further away from my address but worth the extra bit of wait. By far the do the best overall dishes in Plymouth. Ordering again tonight!!

My wife and I decided to give this place a go for a Chinese takeaway, the food was a little earlier than promised and the food was very nice ( better than most around here )we thought it was good value for money and good quality for what we paid . We would definitely use again .

Ordered our food at 5 pm (there opening time) food came in 15-20 mins wich was excellent however, the rice chips, chicken balls and beef chow mein was all dryer than the saharah, they forgot our curry sauce overall worst Chinese I've ever been to would never go again or recommend.

Menu came through the door a week or so ago so we thought we'd give it a try.

Ordered from here for the first time recently and was pleased. Delivery was fast, quicker than the estimated and we were given free prawn crackers too! Food was really nice and tasty, though it could have been a little bit hotter but was good nonetheless. Will order from again :)

Good food and reasonably priced. Particularly like the Value Box meals. I don't feel full of lard when I've finished my meal!

hands down the best Chinese in Plymouth with few to no rivals. the kung po chicken when battered is possibly my favourite dish and may potentially become yours. don't let it's location in Devonport fool you

I love this Chinese takeaway. They have a HUGE choice of food, something for everyone. The portion sizes are enormous so order carefully lol. We always have far too much. The set menus are great as you can choose what main dishes you want rather that being told what you can have. The food always arrives very quickly even on a Saturday night when they are their busiest. The food is delivered very hot and the delivery drivers are extremely polite and friendly.

Really happy with the food here, huge pieces of decent quality Chicken in the dish i had (sweet&sour). The ribs were good aswell and they delivered within 30mins

It's ok but would've been better

Most of the time the food here is reasonable and the staff very friendly but the last meal I purchased (06.09.13) was awful. The egg fried rice was soggy and the sweet & sour chicken balls were uncooked with the chicken resembling pieces of plastic, absolutely vile. Never again. This lot went in the bin, inedible.
