Lucky Chinese Takeaway in Lincoln

Our 2nd takeaway from this place. Can’t find a fault with all the different dishes we’ve tried! 7 I total. Everything was piping hot and non greasy! Very impressed! Delivered to ingham within 30 minutes of placing the order! Thank you.

Chicken curry and egg fried rice. The rice was brown not white didn't have any egg in or peas and it was cold,the curry was congealed and that was only loot warm Go there again never !!!

Come here regularly and never, ever had a problem. Food is quality, staff is accomodating and prices are incredibly reasonable compared to some other places around Lincoln.

I would not come back here if you paid me. Avoid eating here. Egg fried rice came and it was dark brown/ black. The chicken balls are pink in middle. The chowmein was definitely left over food and not freshly cooked. + the prawn crackers was stale… ordered late but still no excuse to serve food like this. What a waste of money. Would be zero stars if i could. Absolutely terrible.

This place has had its fair share of bad reviews and I used to find some of their dishes to be a low standard however, we got a Chinese last night from here and were told it had new owners. This was apparent as the quality of the dishes had improved dramatically. So much flavour on the salt and pepper chips and the chicken balls didn't seem overly greasy. I'd be interested to try the satay skewers under new owners as this is a chinese favourite of mine however, a few years back it was not a good dish to get at Lucky. Good luck!

It’s good priced but that’s all that’s good about it the chicken balls was dripping with grease and the salt and pepper chips was barely edible

Had I noted the lack of reviews (last one a year ago) I would have thought that I was taking a chance. I hate to leave a negative but this is what Tripadvisor is all about. The portions were big, the food was not up to scratch - my pancake roll wasn't cooked, the chicken was chewy and batter soggy and I don't know how you can go wrong with rice. £15 down the drain I'm afraid.

Love this take-away! Helen is always so lovely and the food is AMAZING. & as a vegetarian I am glad I can get tofu instead of just vegetable dishes :)))

Very welcoming and homely Chinese with excellent cooking. Forgetting after more than three persuade them, they might even do some dishes from London’s Chinatown which would be amazing :)

Note, take away only. Really nice food made on time, items that are often greasy like chips and battered sweet and sour were crisp and free from grease.

Poor food all round. Used to be one of the best Chinese but new menu has limited options and have never had such a salty Chinese before - made it difficult to eat! Even the fried rice was drowned in soya sauce. The batter on the chicken balls wasn’t cooked through either. Afraid most of the food ended in the bin. Won’t be using lucky again.

Im so used to going to another Chinese, but coming across this one the food is amazing, perfectly cooked and fast ordering. The new owners are very friendly and have great customer service

I had been to pub was a bit tipsy when found this place, thought I'd try it, glad I did it was lovely food, 9.50 for one person set menu, was loads of it, would do 2 people easily will deffo go again friendly staff and very clean inside

Normally very pleased with the quality of their food , cheap and I love the extras they throw in. However, this is the second time I've been let down by my delivery order, first finding egg fried rice to be lacking in egg and now they missed the egg fried rice off my order. Recieved the food just after 11pm so they were closed and I was left unable to contact them about my issue

This is one of the best Chinese takeaway places in Lincoln. They cook really tasty dishes and offer this services quickly too. You might need to be a little patient on the phone. I am yet to be disappointed.

Updated - 4 star review - 22nd June 2021 Lucky has redeemed themselves over the last few months - husband inadvertently ordered from them a couple of months ago, not realising that it was the same place we’d had the bad experience from. I have to say that they have redeemed themselves and we have ordered from them twice more since, and been pleased to receive tasty food. So I stand corrected, and update my review, to say “give it a go” as it proves that everywhere can make a mistake, and may deserve trying again. 1 star review - 27th November 2020 - Avoid Lucky Chinese at all costs. I too rarely write reviews but this one calls for it tonight. Orders opened tonight via Big Foodie, at 5pm. We placed our order and got our confirmation timestamped at 5:24pm and the delivery was said to be 60 minutes. I had hoped that it may even arrive early(!) 1st phone call I made was at 80 minutes after ordering (6:44pm) to ask where the food was and I was lied to by the person on the phone who told me that it would be soon - and when I asked how soon, I was told 5 minutes. 2nd phone call - 20 mins after the first call, now 100 mins since ordering, and was lied to again being told that it was on its way. I completely lost my patience at this point and demanded that they issue a refund via BigFoodie and told them that their service was unacceptable. There is no excuse for this. Lucky Chinese does not deserve your custom.

Food tasted like it was tainted, or contaminated with cigarette Ash utterly discussing. I Never usually post reviews unless they are diserved this one is well and truly diserved all food thrown in the bin though I have saved some of the curry sauce for the food standards people to analyse. . £23.00 down the drain.

Fantastic food, reasonably priced. You get large portions. We had a set menu for two and it would have fed 3 people. Had it delivered and it arrived piping hot. Food was incredibly tasty and possibly the best Chinese we have had for some years. Excellent. This was a takeaway and we phoned the order through.

Very poor food with rude service

Wow! We tried this chinese for the 1st time last night as they delivered to Sturton By Stow and and not very many places do to this village. We had Kung Po Pork, Singapore noodles with beef, sweet and sour chicken and egg fried rice. It was all hot, good quality meat and the flavours were amazing!!! So glad I’ve found this little gem and I will continue to use them. Delivery was £5 and took around an hour which was completely fine and so worth it!!!

Service was very quick, food was tasty. Only a couple of issues, you can only pay in cash as no card machine available and the chips were not very good. That said, I would go back again.

Orders opened for Lucky Chinese on Big Foodie at 5pm. Our order confirmation was time stamped at 5:24pm, and it had quoted 60 mins for delivery. Okay, I thought, and hoped that being early in the night’s service, that there may be a tiny chance of it even arriving earlier. No arrival at 80mins so I rang up and was told the classic lie (that it will be leaving the restaurant in 5 mins and an insincere apology). 20 minutes later, now at 100mins since ordering, food had still not arrived. I rang again and my patience completely ran out. I told them to issue a refund via Big Foodie and that I was furious and it was unacceptable to be waiting 100 mins and still no sign of food for a delivery that was quoted at 60 mins at 5:24pm. I doubt that the order had even left the takeaway, let alone been made. I know we’re in a pandemic and that some people don’t have the money to order takeouts. I know that we could have gotten food to cook at home. This was supposed to be a meal solution at the end of a difficult week with some money we had left this month. We are being encouraged to spend our money by supporting local independent businesses to help keep them going. However don’t waste your time on this one, it does not deserve your custom.

Had several Chinese take away a from here now and everyone of them has been spot on! Never a mistake and never bad food. Good portions and fair pricing. 😄

Easily one of the best chinese takeaways in Uphill Lincoln. Great food, great value, good portions, friendly staff, always fresh as duck. Cant fault them.

I don't ever do this if slightly dissatisfied with food but we have just spent £25 on Chinese at Lucky and thrown over half of it away. One of the dishes (thai rice) was entirely inedible and smelt like fish/dog food. That went straight in the bin. The vermicelli noodles were covered in curry powder and there was not much else to say about it as there wasn't anything else in there. And the beef satay was just not a beef satay. The prawns and pancake roll were fine mercifully or we'd be hungry now. I genuinely feel awful doing this may be they're having an off day because other times it has been fine but when you spend money on food you should be able to eat it and takeaways are not cheap.

So lucky ..i stumbled outside sn found a fiver eoop woop ..so the chowmain was fee ...recommended..f sure

We ordered and they said it would be an hour, which is completely fine if its busy and working under potential covid conditions. However over an hour had passed and we rang asking how much longer it would take, they proceeded to tell us it would be a further HOUR! Without a single apology or offer of compensation for clearly forgetting the order they happily accepted the cancellation of the order and hung up. Pure disappointment, however, just one of many bad things I've heard about this place. Wouldn't recommend.

No social distancing not adhered to. Shop full. Drivers outside all happy getting into each others cars. Food order part wrong. Food cold. Cash payment only. Disappointed 😥 would not recommend.

Food took nearly 3 hours to arrive. Tried phoning and it was constantly engaged, eventually got through and spoke to someone who sounded like he couldn't be bothered to answer the phone. I appreciate places are busy but this was ridiculous. Don't think I'll be using them again

Ordered at 5.05pm with 2hours for delivery- Rang at 7.30pm, got hung up on but managed to get through, spoke to a rude lady, once she realised i wasn't lying about delay she apologised and said 30mins. Turned up at 8.55pm. Food came hot but in my meal found a ft plus long black hair in my main, I am blonde....One and only time I will be using them!

Took over 2 hours to come, rang up twice terrible customer service, food wasn't warm either!

Great food first time for us ordering from here. Having worked for Chinese and still do but due to lockdown we are not open so had to try else where and this place didn't disappoint. Food was hot and service was great. Only reason for not getting 5stars was mini veg rolls was very mini and next to no veg and one dish was slightly over oiled.

Food took an hour and half to be delivered! When I rang up to ask where food was I was told it was on the way. 20 minutes later when it still had not turned up! I rang again, only for the woman who answered the phone to be rude and not in the slightest bothered. I will not be ordering from here again.

The food is a little hit and miss here sometimes, I guess that depends on whom is cooking I don’t know. The rice dishes are nice, and the curry dishes are delicious too, albeit the chicken in them can either be nice or rubbery. They are accommodating at making something for you that’s off the menu I’ll give them that, they made me a duck chow mein but I couldn’t eat it as it was duck fat chow mein. Won’t put me off going back, I’ll just stick to something safe like chips and curry sauce.

Lucky is a bit overpriced. For a £7.99 you can go a little bit further in Town and get an unlimited buffet at The Taste. The lemon on top the main wasn't freshly cut and in general the food wasn't what I call hot.

Order a takeaway last night and was told 30 - 45 minutes. It eventually turned up after 1 hour. The delivery driver phoned me in reception of my hotel so I popped down to collect. This was helpful and meant I didn't have to wait downstairs. Egg Friend Rice had very little Egg in it. Crispy Shreaded Beef in Chilli sauce tasted very plain. Seaweed was the best bit. I won't be ordering from there again.

We moved uphill in lincoln from the south of Lincoln. Initially we went to very well known and established Chinese takeaway that everyone harks on about on Burton Rd, personally I was disappointed and couldn't understand why. We always have used luckys takeaway and 9/10 times we have it delivered. The portions are PLENTY and reasonable and certain dishes don't look/taste artificial (like other Chinese places do). The staff are friendly and when ordering to be delivered, often it's quicker than what they've said (time wise). No wonder they were in Lincs Echo a bit ago, as we 100% rate them as the best!!!!!

Went for the house chow mien and prawn crackers, was the nicest chow mien I’ve ever had, and a reasonable price, and was ready within 3 mins of ordering. Couldn’t fault, and got a nice wall scroll for free as well. Would recommend

Hello, I recently tried your beef chow mein. In the chow mein I found what looked like a full head of hair. The taste was amazing, however sorting through the hair tarnished the experience.

This is probably very good for Chinnese meals, but l fancied Chicken and Chips. It came with peas and gravy too. This was the only place close to our holiday cottage that supplied them. I was rather disappointed as the chips were rather dry, like oven cooked, the chicken just didn't suit my pallet, and the peas were in the gravy. I'd hoped that they would have been served in individual containers. I don't like gravy with chips, so l didn't eat the peas in the end. Will probably have a Chinnese from here if we stay in the same Cottage in Licoln again.

This was the worse chinese meal we have ever had. I love food but was unable to eat the chicken as it was very fatty and actually looked uncooked. Will not be returning to this place ever again. We ordered lemon chicken and chicken with green pepper and black bean sauce.

Forgot our order waited 40 mins.then got home to soggy pink chicken. NEVER AGAIN !!!!!!

I have been going here since 2013 and never use any other Chinese takeaway in Lincoln, this place gets ln some undeserved reviews, but I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal here and the little Chinese family that own and run it are lovely and have always been very polite and nice to me and my wife on every visit!! Try it, you won’t disappointed.

Made my order few minutes before 6pm its 11pm now and my order never arrived, very disappointed, never again!!

If I could give no stars I would. The food was so awful that I couldn't eat it. Worst Chinese food I've EVER ordered from. Even the dog turned it's nose up at it. DISGUSTING!!!!!!!

Similar bad experience but giving one star as food nice once eventually received! Got from here as usual takeaway doesn't offer chicken balls that son wanted. Order placed 5.05 pm. Not received an hour later; told delivery driver not turned up so other would bring food in 45 mins to hour! Almost 7.30 when arrived and driver commented on my early order time and said he'd been "sent all over before me and they don't know what they're doing". Charged less than expected but then found they hadn't even sent the chicken balls!

Just ordered 20 set meal c but the deep fried shredded beef come in sweet and sour sauce phoned up told me I was lying spare rib sauce nice but the ribs need plenty of water to swallow never order again service terrible

Delicious food...wouldn't go anywhere else in Lincoln...ordered mushroom chow mein...my husband had chicken with bamboo shoots and water chestnuts still piping hot when we got it home

We only live less than half a mile up the road and the food was cold. My husband rang up to complain, theyre customer service is absolutely disgraceful and called my husband a liar. Never ever ordering from here again.

I had a chicken omelette from here twice the first 1 made my stomach upset but the second 1 made me so ill kept me up from being sick diarrhoea all night felt so drained from it. Wont ve eating from there again. Bad bad place.

This Chinese take away was great! Was a late night and desperate for some food after along day, and ordered some great food from here! Wasn't too expensive and you get a lot for what you buy! Woman who took are order wasn't the friendliest but it was close to midnight! But I definitely recommend you go and order ! Was delicious and will be ordering again very soon!

Had been our favourite take away. Excellent quality price and quantity. All three have taken a down turn. Recently ordered our favourite set meal. Price had risen by over 10%, crispy beef was soggy and the lemon chicken has been reduced by half. Not sure why, but we won't return unless forced.

A short walk from home to this consistently good takeaway which is a family favourite. Menu is typical Chinese takeaway but quality is consistent and good portion sizes mean this is good value for money. The satay chicken skewers, tried for the first time, have a nice kick.

Love their food <3 Duck in mango souce is astonishing as well as shrimps.

After moving to a new house I found this take away and I have to say my favourite sweet and sour chicken is delicious here! Lovely people work there as well.

I don't often have a chinese take away but this is the best one I've found close by. Food is always good and arrives quickly.

Primero de todo, China tardó una hora y media en llegar. Cuando llamamos después de una hora preguntando a donde fue me dijeron que estaba en su camino, que era obviamente no porque no les tome una media hora para venir desde la carretera. Pelotas de pollo eran picantes y dulce y salsa agria fue simplemente encantador! Chow mein de sabor y el pato tenían huesos! pérdida total de dinero. Nunca volveré aquí de nuevo.

In lincoln for a short break, had chinese takeaway and was very impressed, asked for delivery a bit later on as we not not ready to eat and it arrived five mins before time so we didnt have to wait, the chicken melted in your mouth and good size portions, wish it was local to us

"bolas de gambas" quemados fuera, to goo next time also in this amarillo por dentro, correoso langostinos. Aceite rebosa. También alargada con capacidad - 8 cms X 4 cms x 2 cms, así que casi no "bolas". Arroz frito era insípido, con enorme trozo de pollo woolly [creo - era difícil decir], cubiertas de galletas insípidas que parecían tortilla. Y la mujer en el mostrador puede añadir £5 + 5 libras correctamente. Ten cuidado si pagas con tarjeta.

I've lived in Lincoln all my life and it took me so long to find a favourite Chinese takeaway. I've tried all the recommendations from people yet just couldn't see why they was recommended to me, either too over priced or the food was horrid... Then, I came across Lucky. Prices are reasonable, food is what you expect,time of the delivery is very quick and efficient, staff are lovely and understandable. One of the best takeaways in Lincoln.

After struggling for 5 years since moving to lincoln to find a decent Chinese takeaway, a recent move across the city has landed us in the vacinity of lucky's and FINALLY we have found a fantastic takeaway. We have had a number of meals from here and they have all been beautiful. Really tasty, freshly cooked and fab prices. The staff are always friendly too.

No matter what we have had from here, it has always been great, and there is a load of different choice, and it's always ready really quickly, but somehow always well cooked. Excellent.

Alway recommend this takeaway portions are always decent sizes and the food in flawless. I've been away to university for a year and have been working at a Chinese restaurant there part time and their food is good. However this place cannot be beaten and always take the opportunity to eat here when I return to lincoln. The food is always hot and fresh and tastes amazing! !!... three dishes and two rices easily filled the 5 of us.

as the title says, the food is piping hot when it arrives, its good and tastes nice. prices are a little high but its a good meal.

poor service and terrible phone manner ordered a simple portion of chicken balls and chips and was told it would be 40 mins an hour and a quarter later i rang back to enquire and they rudely replied I told you it be 1 hour 5 mins and carried on repeating a lie, so i cancelled the order, wouldn't use again, and definately wouldn't advise using this take away service.

Ordered from here after reading a review in the echo. Very impressed. All food ordered was fresh and hot. The Singapore rice had a nice hit and £22 easily fed myself and the missis for two nights. Will defiantly be using it again!!

food was shite and the delivery driver is a robbing turd I wouldn't order from here if you have anything of value on your garden.I would rather eat my dogs excrement then order anything from these thieves.a pot noodle would be better.
