Amazing food and great vibe, thanks to our waiter lucy who was great and good fun

The food was absolutely amazing, especially the fried rice best I have ever had. The staff are very friendly as well as attentive but, even though the wait for the drinks took a while, the starters came before the drinks around 10 minutes after our drinks arrived. However, the 4 starts is due to the atmosphere, the venue is quite dark and gloomy within the booths area and found it difficult see, suggest bright lighting within the booths? Also we went for the valentines taster menu and they had no wagyu beef left and was substituted for ribeye which shocked that it was only discounted by £10.00? Even thought we had a great time, we wouldn't come again due to the slight experience on the taster menu.

We experienced a private dining date with 6 friends in the vault. Mo was our server and he was a lovely, fun, unintrusive, pleasant waiter with great communication skills. The food was wonderful. Very tasty and attentive service. What more could you ask for

went to lucky cat, got served by a guy named lucifer—helpful, sharp, and knew exactly what he was doing. place is sleek, dark, sexy—feels like a high-end yakuza deal’s about to go down at any moment. food? unreal. dim sum so delicate it’s basically a whisper. wagyu melts like it’s scared of commitment. cocktails? dangerous. could drink five, regret six. lucifer’s recommendation was spot on and made the night. absolute top-tier service—thank you, lucifer. will definitely be back.

This was my first time visiting Lucky Cat Manchester and the first thing that wowed me was the setting and atmosphere of the restaurant, Beautiful! Once I was showed my table and sat down the waiter Mo approached us with a smile and offered his help as we were struggling to make a decision, he was friendly and made a very good impression of how staff should be at every restaurants. Once the food arrived I was glad that I went with the suggestions that Mo provided. The food was Amazing! I definitely will go back again with all my friends.

Going to Lucky Cat, it is a proper amazing treat. If you are looking for a beautiful location, great drinks and super tasty food, you are the right location. Definitely I recommend sushi, the squid and the amazing chicken Asian style. Regarding drinks, the barman gave us amazing advice and I loved both of the drinks that he adviced for me! Also, all the managers that I met from the reception to the floor, they were so welcoming and charming. Will definitely be back soon!

I had a delightful evening at Lucky Cat. The suggestions for our wine was exquisite, each pour perfectly complementing the ambiance. The atmosphere was sophisticated yet welcoming, creating the perfect setting for a lovely date night. Our waiter, a charming small girl with an Italian accent I believe called Roberta, added a personal touch that made the experience even more special. We will certainly be returning for another memorable visit and food.

Popped in for the first time for a quick drink and nibbles before going elsewhere for dinner, and the nibbles made us wish we had cancelled our other plans. Very friendly welcome (I think by Roberta?) Amazing service at the bar, very attentive but also unpressured so we actually had chance to read the menu unlike other places. Stunning location and will definitely be back soon for a full meal!

Disappointing Lunch at Gordon Ramsay’s Lucky Cat – Overpriced and Underwhelming Today, I was excited to visit Gordon Ramsay’s Lucky Cat in Manchester for a three-course lunch, priced at approximately £80 for two people. Given Ramsay’s reputation and his well-documented critiques of subpar food on Kitchen Nightmares, I had high expectations. Ironically, the very issues he calls out in failing restaurants—bland food, lack of freshness, and poor value—were exactly what I experienced at Lucky Cat. Misleading Menu & Poor Substitutions The issues started with the menu. The online lunch menu listed vegetable tempura, typhoon tofu salad, and beef gyoza as starters. Despite the limited options, we were happy to go for the beef gyoza. However, upon arrival, we discovered that the beef gyoza had been removed, leaving only vegetarian options—something that wasn’t reflected online. When I raised this with our waiter, he seemed caught off guard, sweating under the pressure as if no one had ever pointed out this issue before. He went to check with his manager, and while they tried to accommodate us, the solution was to offer just four beef gyoza to share between two people. For an £80 meal, this felt like a joke. Worse still, the gyoza tasted like they had been pre-cooked and kept warm in a steamer rather than being freshly prepared—far from the high standards I’d expect at a premium restaurant. They also brought out some salted edamame. While a nice gesture, edamame is one of the cheapest, most basic snacks you can serve. Sprinkling salt on beans does not justify the premium price tag. Main Course – A Complete Letdown Hoping the main course would redeem the meal, I ordered the teriyaki salmon rice bowl. Unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment of all. The rice was hard, stale, and utterly lacking in flavor. My partner, who grew up on authentic Asian cuisine, took one bite and was visibly disgusted. I’d challenge Gordon Ramsay himself to eat a rice bowl in Japan, Korea, or even at a small, family-run Asian eatery in Manchester and then tell me, with a straight face, that this was acceptable. It had all the texture and taste of an Uncle Ben’s microwaveable rice pouch. Dessert – More Style Than Substance For dessert, my partner ordered the fruit plate—expecting something creative or indulgent. Instead, she received a few slices of strawberry and banana on ice. That’s it. Given the cost of this meal, this felt like an insult. How can a high-end restaurant justify serving a few pennies’ worth of fruit as a premium dessert? The Good Points (Because There Were Some) Despite the disaster that was the food, I’ll give credit where it’s due: The champagne was lovely. The venue itself is stylish and well-designed. The staff were friendly and professional, doing their best within the constraints of what they had to work with. Final Verdict – Avoid at All Costs I rarely leave complaints, but this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had—especially for the price. The lunch menu is misleading, the food is poorly executed, and the value for money is abysmal. If you’re looking for fantastic Asian cuisine in Manchester, there are countless cheaper, better options that serve authentic, flavorful food. Lucky Cat was a massive letdown, and I wouldn’t return—even if someone paid me. Fortunately, I used a gift voucher my sister gave me, so I didn’t have to bear the full financial loss. But if I had paid out of pocket, I would have been even more frustrated. Save your money and eat elsewhere.

We were really excited for this! It was a special occasion but sadly the food and the service did not deliver, we waited almost an hour and a half for food, drinks took almost an hour, food was cold and not to my taste but i understand thats individual preference, the crockery was also cracked and cut my lip - hate to complain! The server was really lovely considering and happy to help, possibly a shortage of staff caused these issues as the all servers were rushed off their feet, the one serving us covered the upstairs and downstairs of the restaurant from what we could see

A stylish spot with sleek, moody vibes and a buzzing atmosphere. The **BEEF TATAKI** was exceptionally amazing and the tuna tartare was packed with a bold flavors! Service was 10/10 everyone was very friendly which made it even more enjoyable. I’ve been told that the portions are on the smaller sides like tapas but it actually a perfect portion in my opinion, and standout dishes made it worth a visit for my special occasion. overall, a solid Ramsay experience. Great for foodies craving Asian-inspired flair!

I had a fantastic dining experience at Lucky Cat. The food was delicious - every dish was expertly prepared. The cocktails were lovely and I was impressed by the great selection of non-alcoholic options. The service was outstanding - attentive without being overbearing. It made for a relaxed and enjoyable evening. Overall a 10/10 - I would highly recommend.

Service and atmosphere are good. Food only average. Portions are small. You'll probably need to order at least 3 items minimum for each adult guest. At minimum £20-25 each item. Plus drinks and dessert etc. Places like these obviously can't expect value for money. It's more like just an experience. More for people taking photos/videos for their IG/Facebook. Visited once and never again. There's plenty of places in Manchester that offer great food for a lot better value!

My second visit to Lucky Cat and this visit was even better than the first (which was amazing). This time we were served by Roberta who was incredible, she went above and beyond to make our evening special as did the rest of the team. Food, service and atmosphere 10/10. Can’t wait to return for a third time!! 100% recommend.

Cannot recommend Lucky Cat’s Cocktail Masterclass enough. Had the best evening. The venue was gorgeous, the atmosphere was relaxed, the staff were so friendly. Tom was our ?mixologist? for the evening - he was fun and knowledgeable and entertaining - and helped us make the most delicious cocktails I might ever have experienced! It was such a lovely, fun evening. Well worth it. Everyone go do it - and everyone ask for Tom!

Food was amazing, we had such a great waiter (he was from Dublin and so friendly), better than the other Japanese restaurants in Manchester having been to them all. Beautiful building and we were in a gorgeous table. Can’t wait to come back!

Ishraq amazing service amazing food

We recently ate at Lucky Cat for the first time to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. The food was excellent and the service of the staff was warm and friendly. After the meal we did a sake tasting session which was a great experience as we were also sat opposite the sushi chefs. This was presented by Piotr who was really knowledgeable and a really entertaining character. Highly recommend this restaurant and we will be returning again as there are other dishes we definitely want to try.

My boyfriend and I came for our 5 year anniversary meal in December. The front of house staff were outstanding, super friendly & very accommodating. We got a drink at the bar and then had some food at our table. The food was absolutely incredible, every dish we ordered was outstanding and we didn’t feel rushed or too pestered. Up until here, we were having an incredible time. Unfortunately, when it came to paying the bill, my boyfriend and I asked if we could split it. The waiter (who had been great up until this point) made a really awkward comment about how my partner should be paying the full bill and we shouldn’t be splitting it. It made us really uncomfortable and put quite a disappointing end to our night on what had been such a fabulous evening. We would recommend the food, but wouldn’t want to be served by the same waiter should we visit again. Overall 8/10.

We went to Manchester on vacation and took the opportunity to have dinner at this magnificent restaurant, the food was delicious, especially the bull tuna nigiri and the tuna tartare, there was a live DJ and the waiters offer you incredible treatment, an experience that deserves the shame!!

What an amazing experience! The building itself is stunning and the decor very tasteful. We were greeted by a lovely lady at the door who showed us to our table promptly. We were then greeted by Ciaran who took our coats and served us throughout our visit. He is very knowledgeable about the menu, very attentive and never let our wine glasses find themselves empty! He is a credit to the team, as are the chefs. The food was to die for, everything we tried was amazing and the portions were perfect. Ciaran recommended 6-7 plates between the 2 of us and he was right! Over all, 2 very happy customers who will be returning! Thank you to the whole team! Sorry for the lack of photos but it was too good to stop for photos!

Nice food, not worth the price tag. Possibly amazing if you don’t eat out much and haven’t experienced other places with similar food, but uderwhelming to say the least. All fur coat and no knickers.

It was fine, food was good but there's definitely a lot better in Manchester, service was average, atmosphere wasn't anything special. It's very overpriced for what it is, and a bit gimmicky, but if you want to say you've eaten at Lucky Cat then this is the right place... unfortunately I just don't understand the hype.

Incredible service and drinks with unmatched food. Every single dish was amazing, from something simple like edamame, to a twist on duck pancakes, to a perfect dessert recommended by our server! Thank you Eamonn and team for making a birthday evening so memorable!

Overall very good food but why no tempura?

Loved it - food was gorgous - we had tuna tartar - beef tataki - sea bream and some others for 6 of us we had 2 each plus 2 rice. The most outstanding thing was the staff though - brilliant - humour - attentive (whilst not overly attentive). The best service I ever had was in the four seasons in Paris - proper Parisien 5 star - this was the equivalent if not better. Thank you to the staff

From the moment you enter to door the surroundings are breathtaking. The service from Kesira and Sean was unmatched; their recommendations and knowledge about each dish was welcomed and it did not disappoint. There wasn’t dish we disliked that arrived. I ordered a KAKIGORI cocktail to finish off after the stream of dish’s including the Duck Bao Buns, egg fried rice and sushi platter. Absolutely will recommend to anyone and will most definitely be returning - Thank you!

I am starting this review, with the often reviled humble vegetable......broccoli, often soggy, uninspiring in flavour and dull, whencooked can be the vegification of the word damp. I can honestly say I have never been so wowed at food as I was with not only depth, joy and multitude of flavours and textures from crunchy to smokey to spicy to creamy of the Lucky Cats Broccoli leaving me questioning what I have been eating all these years. There was so much to it that I was lost for words other than wow. The broccoli for me wasn't even the star of the show, the Tempura mushrooms looked incredible like artwork, they were light, well textured and bursting of flavour, with the most interesting of sweet, slightly spicy dipping sauce. The mushroom dumplings, were a tardis of a dish had the depth of flavour and heartyness of oriental mushroom caserole slow cooked for an era, wrapped up in an elegant little dainty parcel, a meal in a mouthful. The manager brought over our fried rice and prepped it for us making the bold statement 'the best fried rice you'll ever have' He was not wrong. I often swap the chop sticks for the spoon or fork when eating rice for ease, not tonight, my taste buds took over control of my stomach and wouldn't let me, I had to enjoy each morsel savouring each small bite. We also partook in the sushi, which was as good as any 5 star sushi specific restaurants, (we eat alot of sushi on date nights) My favourite dish was however the GFC. My partner is vegitarian so when out I mainly order only veggie for meals, but given Gordon has put his name on it I couldn't resist, despite the cold look of disapproval of my partner. It did not dissappoint. I will be dreaming of it for years to come. Sweet spicy, crispy, creamy, and cooked to perfection. Fried chicken has always been one of my fav foods, it has been elevated to new heights. For dessert we opted for the truffles and mochi to share them. We loved the mochi, less so the truffles, but they were lovely and they added an alternate variety to evenings flavours. They were not quite the dessert we usually would go for, or were hoping for I have a very sweet tooth. I have rarely been so wowed at every dish and my brain has been overwhelmed with the sensations received through my pallet, I am still processing the concerto of flavours. The meal wasn't a meal it was an experience I loved it... I would also like to shout out to the brilliant staff, Service was excellent and drinks weren't extortionate.

Kul provided fantastic service. Friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Food was fantastic too. Would highly recommend this restaurant and ask for Kul.

Really nice building and atmosphere. Came at 3pm on a Saturday, it was not crowded at all, and stayed for 2 hours. My favorite two dishes were the 300g Ribeye (very worth it) and the JCF (essentially chicken in a sesame creamy sauce). Two other really good plates were the duck bao buns- came in style, very abundant portion - and the egg fried rice. These 4 plates would honestly be enough to fill two people up, but I had to try a bunch of other stuff so I added spicy edamame, California rolls and the Pork Gyozas. These were good but nothing compared to the previous 4 (in other words, I would travel here for the first 4 plates, but probably wouldn’t for these latter 3). To drink I had 2 beers in total. The bill was about 205£.

We had the most incredible dining experience last night. A wonderful welcome by Maria followed by Sean the restaurant managers excellent description of our menu and drinks choices, assisted by Kieran’s wonderful service of the most delicious food we have ever tasted. A wonderful team led by Aaron the general manager who listened intently to our feedback and welcomed our very positive comments. This was our first visit and we are already planning to return. Some big hits, but some near misses too. The GFC, lamb chops and crispy pork out of the park. But the aubergine and fried rice need help. Call Uncle Roger to help with the latter. And what's with disposable chopsticks in a high end?

My main complaint was the toilets as on the way down the steps you could smell them it appeared to be coming from the men's also shortage of toilet rolls in ladies and for a top restaurant this is not acceptable

Cut to the chase, it isn't cheap. In fact it's pretty expensive. Having said that, the food and service get 5/5. Every dish was excellent and beautifully prepared. Probably the standout was the chiperones (baby squid) and a bargain at £10. We were celebrating and ordered the black cod at £41.00. The bill was £230 for two of us including wine and service. Neither of us have a big appetite but both were hungry 5 hours later. That's not to say we wouldn't make a return visit. Remove the wine and cod and you have a reasonable £130.

Food: 4/5, Service: 3/5, no toilet roll, it’s a bit hard to get service when you want them. Cocktails really nice, monkfish tempura good, lamb chops good. Otherwise nothing very memorable. They automatically add £1 donation to Gordon Ramsey’s charity which I think is total bullshit so asked it to be taken off the bill.

WOnderful place. The setting is most grand and the staff working there are all very professional, friendly and grreat at their jobs. The food as you would expect is top notch with the duck bao buns a highlight but the GFC was knockout. Its a bit pricey but well worth a trip/ treat !

The building is very pretty, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Went at 3pm and was a nice relaxed atmosphere. It is a small plates venue so you need to order a few dishes so ordered 5 dishes. The food was decent.

Great food and ambiance. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. We tried the beef tataki, Gfc and fried rice, as recommended by our waitress and finished with the apple cake, which was superb. Definitely my new favorite spot in Manchester.

This was my first visit to Lucky Cat and it did not disappoint. The venue is beautiful. Food was amazing! I loved the crab and the beef tetaki was out of this world. Our server kesira was very knowledgeable and friendly. She made us feel so welcome. I can highly recommend the cocktails too. Am looking forward to my next visit.

We had a great experience. All staff were welcoming and attentive. Special mention to Scott who made some great recommendations on what food to pick(GFC and Nigiri Excellent choice) everything paired with some Sake raccomended by Byron that struck the perfect balance between food and wine. I was prepared to be disappointed as so many of these well known chefs places are a big let down. I'm happy to say I was very pleased with this place, the service was excellent cocktails very nice and the food very tasty. All in all a great place for lunch.

We had a great experience at lucky cat. We had the set menu but added the wagyu sushi and duck baos on as we couldn’t resist. All of the food was absolutely delicious, not a single thing missed the mark. Our favourite was the wagyu and the duck bao so we can highly recommend these if you come. We were served by Ciaran and he was amazing. So attentive, friendly and ensured that everything we ate was explained and the Japanese origins of the food described which really added to the experience. 5* would highly recommend.

The dining experience was exceptional. The food was of the highest quality, and the staff was exceptionally courteous and knowledgeable, providing excellent recommendations. The GFC was an absolute must-try. Additionally, it was our anniversary, and the staff went above and beyond to make it a memorable occasion. In conclusion, it was an experience worth repeating.

A total rip off! Food was good nothing to say on that. We ordered two set menus to share between 4 people...the waitress advised that each set menu was enough for two persons as indicated on the menu itself. 1We wanted to order two different set menus to have a better selection, but after checking with her manager the waitress said that this is not possible both set menus have to be the same! When food started being served, we got just one set menu with the excuse that both set menus were being served in one plate! We ended this dinner with one dessert with one scoop of ice cream to be shared between 4. Manager named Cam said that one portion would be half of what we got! Meaning half a piece of apple treacle and half a scoop of ice cream with a set menu of 120 gbp. Never again!

What an astounding place with beautiful setting and ambience, we had 5 dishes and every mouthful was perfect. Our waiter Kulbashan was a different level, attentive and informative and made our evening celebrating a perfect night 😍

I’ll definitely be coming back here and I recommend Lucky Cat to anyone wanting to celebrate or just have a nice meal and drink. The food was amazing too :)

We went for a 3 course lunch menu. The shack sharers were very good. Edamame beans and spring roll. However the rice bowl and starter were no better than a take away. We both loved the service and the restaurant itself, but felt the food was very average

We have wanted to come here for years and are so glad we finally did. Incredible food, we went for the signature menu as a treat for my partner's birthday. It went above and beyond our expectations. Shoutout to Lucifer for providing such fab service! We definitely need to return to try the GFC. Thank you!!

My family and I were blown away by this food it was amazing. The customer service was incredible we met a really nice man called Lucifer. Overall it is a 10/10

It was a great experience. Ayana is one of the workers there and a friend of mine, and she was a professional and kind, amazing server. I would totally recommend to go and visit because the atmosphere and food were great!
