Absolutely disgraceful to be honest. I have a condition which means I urgently need to use a loo and to my misfortune I thought I’d go to this friendly looking cafe as I didn’t imagine it’d be a problem. The staff were horrible and so misunderstanding. I understand that toilets are for customers. But after calling me ‘rude’ and demanding that I pay for something I would never visit again. And I suggest you really consider the way you talk to other people because you don’t know what they are dealing with. From one human to another!

We stopped here for lunch on a day out. The waitress took our drink order first while we decided on food. When she returned we gave our order, unfortunately they had run out of a lot of food. So we settled on something different. The food we did have was lovely, all staff where very friendly

Worked for us, just a toastie, couple of slices of cake and the coffees. Open plan diner, modern furnishings, very smart salad bar/ cake display and clear priced up menu boards. Helpful very cheerful staff who dealt with a change of order without a quibble or murmur. Very good customer service at sensible prices, will certainly use again if in Cirencester and can recommend.

Unfamiliar with Cirencester, we asked in a nearby shop where to go for breakfast and were directed to Lucia's. Good choice! It's a cafe so simply furnished but clean and comfortable. Lovely warm welcome! Extensive menu for a small cafe but we ordered the full English breakfast which was delicious and excellent value with good tea/coffee. It's clearly a popular place with the locals and there were some colourful characters in there! The staff were very patient with an incredibly rude lady (who I would have asked to leave) and graciously accepted her eventual apology. Highly recommend this place.

We went because despite visiting Cirencester for years, since before Lucia opened, I have never been in here. Finally got my act together to try it for a lunch visit. I wasn't expecting such an extensive menu; given its size and being a coffee shop I'd imagined a simple sandwich sort of menu. And indeed it has the sandwiches and panini, a very nice selection, but also jacket potatoes and some nice specials. I had a lovely lasagne. We found it lovely and friendly. It's peaceful and relaxed, light and airy, not all crammed in tight or blasted with music. I feel very sorry for them that people have evidently been taking the mickey. No cafe should have to explain to visitors to the premises who are not giving them custom that it is neither a picnic site nor a public convenience. I very much doubt that they want to have to display notices to that effect. But to genuine customers we found them charming, helpful and polite. Wish it hadn't taken me so long to go in!

We pop in here when ever we are having a wander around Cirenceter and need to stop for a drink or light lunch. It is a family run cafe. The owners and staff are always friendly and welcoming. We always sit inside but in the warmer weather there is seating outside as well. A variety of filled baguette, cakes, hot meals etc.

Lunch visit, not too busy, young man took my simple order, I should of been alerted when I had to repeat everything. English breakfast tea came out, minus spoon and milk which he made 2 trips for. About 45 minutes later husbands lunch (which had to be changed due to cafe running out of item) arrived which he enjoyed, but finished before my simple toasted sandwich came. My toastie lovely but too much butter. Went to pay bill, was told Carol could only use the till and she was cooking out the back, I and another customer had to wait 10 minutes to pay. I wish I'd read reviews first.

My 2 year old granddaughter needed a wee urgently. We were meeting my husband for lunch and would probably eaten here. However a staff member came over and asked what we were doing waiting outside loo, my granddaughter clearly desperate for the loo. She rudely told us we couldn't use it. I begged as it was almost too late but the very unfriendly lady refused, was rude and very unhelpful. Hence we didn't return. Unbelievable. I understand that the toilets are for customers but this was clearly an emergency. No compassion shown.

The food isn't bad it's just that I've had far better food in other caffs. It's got a touch of the pre-cooked out of a packet about it. (I'm not saying for one minute that it is out of a packet but, that's what the quality reminds me of). You get the impression it hasn't been cooked "with love" if you know what I mean. The staff are friendly enough but, as I say, there's something not quite right about the food.

So if you have read any of my other reviews, you will know my wife has dietary needs. Took a while to get something sorted. But alas they did get it done. We arrived early afternoon as they appeared to be in the throws of closing down and finishing serving for the day. Certain things were not available but what we got was sufficient. If its close to them closing I wouldn't bother. The problem is when you are a traveller passing through it's an issue if things aren't right the first time

I called in for lunch at this little cafe after comparing prices at nearby establishments. The tariff was very reasonable for this popular tourist town, and I found the food to be of excellent quality. The menu ranged from imaginative toasted snacks to full meals including King Prawn Curry and Lasagne. The coffee was freshly brewed and sensibly priced. Service was polite and prompt, and I noted the 5 star food hygiene award which is always reasssuring. Will certainly return when next in the area.

I popped into Lucias this morning. All was fine until the waiter brought me only one of the two items I had ordered. I pointed out the mistake to him and he relayed it to the lady whom I assume was the owner. She abruptly told me I had only ordered one thing. Clearly there'd been a misunderstanding or she had misheard me. No problem, I pulled out my wallet to pay for the other item. It was then she questioned me as to how I thought it would be possible to buy the two things for the money I had paid. The implication was clear: I was trying it on. Her manner was unfriendly, accusatory and frankly rude. I asked for the extra money back and informed her she could keep the sandwich and the original £3.50 and left, after all she had made it for me. I try very hard to support local businesses and not go to the corporates like Starbucks - I certainly won't return to this one, which is a shame as clearly many of her customers like it a great deal.

This is the best restaurant/cafe in Cirencester if you want honest to goodness home-cooked food. The choice is there from all-day breakfast, sandwiches, jacket potatoes to Spanish casseroles and hearty soups. Staff are very friendly and efficient and the singing from the kitchen shows the chef is happy in his work! Cannot recommend this highly enough.

I live in South Cerney but any time me and my husband are in Cirencester we would go and have lunch in this most welcoming place. Since i am quite often in Lucia (fantastic value for money) I had a chance to witness extremely rude attitude of the woman who ordered jacket potato. Not only did she eat the whole meal but her obnoxious behavior towards staff made all the customers feel extremely uncomfortable. After having finished the whole meal she herself decided not to pay the whole amount. It takes some guts to be so rude and then make some untrue comments on TripAdvisor. As a regular customer I hope I won't see that lady again.

Worst place I have ever eaten. Staff uninterested and unhelpful. Food horrible. I visited this place for lunch and ordered jacket potato. It was uncooked inside so told staff, I was told to put salt and pepper on. A member of staff came over to ask how our food was a short while later, and as I started to say she totally ignored me and instead started talking to another lady. I struggled to eat it so left most of it. I thought they might have offered another potato or a reduction on the bill as I'd left most of it, but instead she asked me not to visit them again. I couldn't believe it. I'm a regular visitor to Cirencester and can only advise people after my experience to eat elsewhere as there are loads of nice places to eat. I'm sure lots of people like it there, but not me or the people I was with

Ignore the ghastly 60s-style quadrangle the café is situated in, this gem of a place is absolutely ideal for a drink, snack or light meal when pottering around town. In good weather the square's table-and-chairs seating all belongs to the café. In bad weather, it's nice inside too.Service is very friendly and cheery, and in my experience the cheese & tomato toasties are wonderful - very very tasty, served with salad vegetables, almost too much to eat for one diner. I like to sit outside with one and an excellent cappuccino (served with an almond cookie), followed by a cigarette. Bliss.

This is a really welcome, beautifully renovated addition to the area. A warm and friendly local with stone walls and open fires. Food is very good, modern pub style at a very reasonable price for The Cotswolds. Staff are very friendly and efficient and the clientele are a great combination of locals at the bar, people eating and walkers, cyclists etc calling in for a pint. Dirty tables and cutlery 3. Very long wait for food and nobody checked if everything was ok 4. Different change for same drinks every time. 5. No staff....one person does everything! 6. Filthy bedrooms, thick with dust and cobwebs 7. Rooms full of broken items ...mirrors, blinds 8. No slip mat provided for elderly people, so unable to have a shower (my mum was told to throw a towel in the bath!) 9. Extremely old mattress, lumpy and uncomfortable, old duvet with lumps and bumps 10. Linen bundles and beer barrels left outside rooms and at bottom of the stairs...huge fire and safety risk 11. Limited breakfast and very small quantity 12. Coffee and tea not restocked, dirty cups left in room and bed not made 13. Bathroom was rusty, filthy and hadn't been cleaned. Toilets were still dirty from previous guests.
