Called in here after our visit to the Lowry by the Sea exhibition at the nearby Granary. It's in a lovely location by the Tweed estuary and close to the city walls. Sadly the weather wasn't up to much but we took a table outside and were served very quickly. I chose a latte and my friend tea. To eat I opted for a crumble cake with a salted caramel sauce. My friend chose a fruit scone which was served with generous amounts of clotted cream and strawberry jam. I don't think I would go for the crumble cake again. It was one of those confections which look good but lack substance. It was incredibly sweet too, although that shouldn't have been a surprise as the waitress did warn me. My friend's scone was pronounced lovely. The accompanying wasp thought so too so we beat a hasty retreat into the safety of the cafe itself. Prices are reasonable, the service is good and staff very friendly. Perhaps not a five star rating but there's no reason why we wouldn't return.

Me and my family alongside close friends went to the Cafe, we were met by one horrible old woman, firstly before being served we were told only one person is aloud in to order, then when we sat outside she came out and stated we couldn't sit there as we were ordering drinks for takeout. As you can imagine we walked away without buying anything. I hope people opt for other cafe's in the area as grotbags is horrible to have front of house.

Good for sitting in the afternoon sun with a view of the water and the town walls. Pavement seating, but in an area that didn't seem busy with traffic. Nice tea, coffee and cake.

This friendly, quayside cafe is a regular stopping off for us on our strolls around Berwick. It tends to be a "fair weather" option, as our two dogs restrict us to the outside tables. Very friendly staff, and a great choice of food. Can highly recommend the local fresh crab salad, the bacon rolls, and the homemade scones.

I've never before encountered a more rude and unhelpful waitress in my life. Late 50s, short blonde hair. Everything we asked her was a massive problem. Angry that we were even in her cafe. Never again.

Not made to feel welcome even though had been recommended by our retired minister. Our son is profoundly disabled and makes a lot of noise and requires a lot of attention , the owners made sure we far away from everyone else and eyes rolled when asked for assistance. The waitress was lovely and had a sibling with same condition. She was apologetic but couldn’t make up for appalling attitude of the owners who more interested in showing off their new car.

Coffee and cake ( gluten free normally available). Although this is on the edge of the car park we normally sit outside in the Sun.

We had a very pleasant lunch here, sitting outside where they are a few tables to enjoy the fresh air with the walls of Berwick as a back cloth. inside the cafe is small but cosy and welcoming. They serve a good range of casual meals and we enjoyed a jacket potato and quiche lunch. Service was friendly and prices fair. we would definitely return here.

Having braved Hurricane Ali during our circular walk along the top of The Walls we fell upon this mouth watering oasis in a storm. It'll just be as good on a calm day with it's quality snacks using only the best ingredients. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive to your gastronomic needs. We were tempted by various snacks/small lunches but our B&B breakfast was enormous so settled for a very tasty tomato and basil soup with Scottie bread and butter. Locals seem to appreciate this small café which also offers wonderful views across the river Tweed and inches away from boat trips and free parking.

Warkworth has a small nucleus of great places to eat, and we'd never tried Bertrams, so we went. It was a no brainer given the quality of other reviews. The only downside was that we had to get in and out early so were nearly the first people in hence little "atmosphere" but that was our agenda not the restaurant, and we were there for the food... ... which was first class. Superb hake served with a beautiful herby crab pate and dauphinoise potatoes. The flavours were immense and everything was cooked to perfection. You notice the difference with real quality and top chef standards and this delivered for me. The lemon meringue dessert was the proverbial icing on the metaphorical cake. Superb.

My cousin and I were hugely impressed by Castaways. I had been reluctant to go because about 20 years ago the original café had been taken over by a useless couple. But when I passed and looked in, I could see that its original atmosphere had been recreated by the current management. Our reception was very friendly. The café was full (always a good sign) and we were third in the queue. Our table was soon ready and we were seatedby a waitress. We were very comfortable and the atmosphere was nice. Many pleasant people there as customers happily dining and chatting. Good choice of food and drink. I had the traditional breakfast and my cousin had… I think it was avocado and egg on sourdough bread. We were both very content with our lunch. I will certainly return and bring members of my family to enjoy castaways. Nicely sited, easy car parking and great views over Seaton Sluice and the sea. Get yourself along there and have a treat!
