We called in here on our way up the coast because we had heard that they had one of Sam Fenders Brit awards as a hand pull on the bar. A reason to find this place but we were pleasantly surprised how nice it was. A good pub with a good atmosphere. Wish we had planned for food here but we didn’t have time. Great to see the Brit Award and visit this friendly pub. Friendly staff and locals and in conversation we were also told a bit about the local history of the place. Very welcoming

What more can you say about the Low Lights Tavern besides amazing food, friendly atmosphere and of course superb bar staff! We called for Sunday dinner yesterday however as it's so popular could get a table, or so we thought! Lynsey managed to squeeze the 6 of us in which I couldn't be more grateful for, I need the Low Lights mince pie in my life!! We had a range of meals from fish and chips to pie Sunday dinner and they were all absolutely delicious. I can not recommend highly enough. If you are wanting food or just drinks, you will not be disappointed with the service, the atmosphere or the staff! Can't wait to be back un the winter for a night of music and delicious food next to the roaring fire!!

Another trip to the Low Lights Tavern on a cold April day. 4 of us sat in the same snuggly area as before, by the roaring open fire. 4 plates of delicious hot food were served to us - 2x corned beef and potato pies with chips, peas and real gravy, a chicken and black pudding meal on a bed of mash with spring cabbage and a mince pie and mashed potato meal with peas and gravy. All were absolutely immense. Service was lovely.

There are pies and then there are Low Lights pies….it’s as if I’d entered Pie heaven when we visited for a spot of lunch. Pastry that was as light as a cloud and the mince filling both generous and tasty, I prefer mash, the good wife chips, and we agreed both were spot on, mushy peas on the side so what’s not to like. I’d heard the Tavern had entered legendary pie status and the truth is it has. I love a pie and to me this has hit number one spot…sixty odd years of pie eating and this was the best. Total appreciation for the best scran in ages.

Made the trip specially to sample the famous pies. How to ruin a classic Steak and Ale pie? Turn it into a curry by adding spices to a mouth burning level. My wife had the same problem with a different pie. Same gravy? The cold beers were only partially effective in dealing with the mouths on fire. Suggest they take the chilli powder or whatever it was and lock it out of reach of the chef. The pleasant guy who took payment asked if we'd like the uneaten food boxed up. No thanks.

I have visited Darcies a number of times now with my Nanna who might I add swears by this place. They always treat her and her friend like royalty and always go the extra mile to make sure they are both happy! All of the food there is home cooked to perfection and tastes amazing. I’ve had the Yorkshire pudding wrap multiple times and it never disappoints potions are huge and good value for money. Lisa and the rest of the staff are lovely! There’s no doubt that she knows exactly what she is doing. I will happily be returning to Darcies and can’t wait to try the chicken nuggets my nanna raves about!

We asked for our fish to be well cooked as if it’s not we have found the batter near the fish to be uncooked, once again the batter was uncooked ( soggy) The chips were lukewarm not a great experience
