We called into lous for our lunch and had homemade quiche with salad and a hot beef sandwich with homemade chips.Both meals were absolutely lovely and the hot tea was very nice as well.Very friendly staff.We shall return.

I ordered outside catering for my dad’s funeral from Lou’s Cafe - it was beautiful. I have had so many compliments regarding the buffet that Louise provided and quite rightly so. The sandwiches especially were full and fresh, which is quite rare for catering companies in my experience. Pies,quiche, all homemade along with some beautiful cheesecake and carrot cake. There was limited time for Louse to set up at the chapel and she managed it no problem. Please support this little cafe and the outside catering side of the business as the food and service is amazing.

Me and my two daughters came here to celebrate a special occasion today. We wanted the afternoon tea but the only time we could visit was late morning, but Lou’s said that was fine and that they’d do it for whenever was best for us. The afternoon tea had a standard list of what’s included, but Lou’s were happy to take various requests about it, like swapping some drinks, and adding/swapping various items. Basically, nothing was too much trouble, which meant a lot as I was trying to make it as special for my daughters as possible. The cafe was so clean with lovely decor, and the staff were helpful and friendly. The food itself was gorgeous and there was so much of it too. The glitter chocolate strawberries in particular were very much loved by all! A friend who joined us just had some chips, and these looked gorgeous too, proper home made chips, and a really decent portion size too. The other customers when they came in were very friendly, and it was an easy place to relax. I wish we’d been able to take our dog too, but I guess you can’t have everything and dogs weren’t allowed in the shopping centre so Lou’s have to follow these rules. All in all we’d highly recommend Lou’s. Our experience there was great and despite it being our first visit, we were treated like old friends. Thanks for a lovely few hours.

My wife and I called in for breakfast @ lou s on a Saturday and it was lovely.We both ordered two full breakfasts with tea.The tea pot arrived first followed by the breakfasts approx 10 mins later.The food was cooked very well apart from one hard fried egg.The service was very friendly and the breakfasts were both good value for money - £18 in total roughly. We will definitely return as its so nice.

Excellent place to go for a Breakfast or Lunch or even Dinner, Staff are friendly and helpful. The place is so very clean so I give it a 5 Star fro the value, delicious food and staff. I travelled here from Blackpool whilst on holiday meeting the new family I married into. The experience is very good and cant wait to come back again.

We have been coming here for quite a while now. Staff are always polite, friendly and efficient. We have tried most things on the menu but my favourite is the soup and cheese and tomato toastie. My husband likes the choice of desserts of course! The soup and toastie combo is usually on the o.a.p. special menu. Last week I had the special shepherd's pie with peas which was tasty but the Yorkshire pudding with it was hard and cold so a rare disappointment here. The English breakfast is good value and very filling. They have a special every day of the week on the board and the o.a.p. lunch includes a pot of tea. The baked potato with filling is good value too. We like to support local businesses so will continue going to Lou's. We wish them a good 2023.

They refused my cash for a purchase Scottish note which are legal tender had to go to Iceland to buy to get change Poor service then said it’s policy no signs out

Have been here a few times and think I’ve only had one descent meal tried again this lunch time for the oap special of pie chips and peas well what a joke I know pensioners aren’t supposed to have big appetites but the pie was a joke the corned beef was stale and you could fit it on a fork I know £5.50 isn’t going to break the bank but should have been a descent meal will be avoiding from now on

It's just a traditional cafe serving the usual thing including English breakfast, pie and chips, toasties, sandwiches, cake etc. To be called 'absolutely stunning' by a previous reviewer is a slight over-exaggeration to say the least. The food was OK, apart from the chips. They were either overcooked or the oil needed changing as they were a very dark colour. There's absolutely nothing special about this place, but it's good value for money and the staff are pleasant, polite and efficient.

Had to find last minute food as Lumley castle can’t accommodate it’s guests for breakfast. Staff were welcoming and friendly. We had a great, well cooked, generously sized breakfast for an absolute bargain price. The surroundings are clean and spacious and feel well thought out regarding restrictions.

I bought some vouchers for my dad for Christmas so he could get some Sunday dinners delivered in Lockdown. The manager could not do enough to help. Very friendly and fantastic customer service. The large Sunday dinner my dad got was amazing. Massive portion and really good food. I would definitely recommend this place!

Absolutely stunning, if we don't sit in we take away and cannot fault the place. The meat just melts in your mouth and a generous portion of well cooked veg. Yorkshire pudsey can sometimes be a bit overdone but I like them, but the kids prefer softer less well done. You cant win them all but Lou's is a constant winner with us. 👌👍

Since the start of the pandemic we have been getting lunch delivered from this establishment every day for almost six weeks now,the standard of service has been fantastic and the food has been of a consistently high standard,the menus changed weekly with a lot of thought going into what is offered,we were asked constantly for feedback and also suggestions as to what else we may like on the next menu,they have recently started doing afternoon tea so we tried one and we were definitely not disappointed yet again lovely,they are a very hard working team and nothing is too much trouble,thanks again for a great service provided during a very difficult period for everyone.

I have came to this place l few times and it is always delicious today l got a ham and cheese toastie it was lovely the cheese melted and it was perfect. The staff are friendly and the place is well looked after what more do you want l would definitely recommend coming here

Fantastic atmosphere very friendly staff all dressed up as elves, crafts and and a present for my daughter from santa was fab. Amaizing food excellent value for money. We'll be there next year x

Found this lovely café on a hunt for a quick cuppa. Lovely atmosphere. Friendly staff. Beautiful cakes that were too good to pass. A very enjoyable visit. So glad I popped in instead of visiting another establishment.

Found this little cafe looking for breakfast. Nice little place. Breakfast was beautifully presented, hot, fresh, delicious. Well priced. And the staff were friendly and service was quick. Definitely would return.

found this wee place by accident as morrisons didn't have a cafe, we were greeted by freindly faces and served freshly cooked scrambled eggs and bacon roll, with nice coffee at a reasonable cost, the place had good taste in music (Rumours), don't know when we will be back in Chester le street but this wee gem will be on our list. keep up the good work guys and dolls XX

Great place for a quick tea and coffee, gorgeous homemade scone and even though we did not eat a meal they looked fantastic

And wasn’t disappointed. Had delicious homemade strawberry and white chocolate cheesecake and pot of tea each. Amazing value. £3.75. Very good service and friendly staff. Will certainly return.

Lovely full English breakfast tried the large just too much so now stick to regular. Cooked to perfection and value for money

We've visited this cafe a few times now and have never been disappointed. The staff are polite and efficient and the food is excellent. We both had the brunch and couldn't believe how much good quality food we got for £4.95 each. Everything was well cooked and it's worth a visit for the homemade chips alone. Highly recommended.

I visit this cafe regularly when in Chester le Street and I have to say the food and service are superb. I always have the gluten free breakfast and it's always perfect.

Popped in for warming drinks before the Remembrance March and service. All was lovely, people and products. My children enjoyed the hot chocolate a lot!

We went for a family Sunday’s dinner. We each had something different which was the full menu available on a Sunday. We had three kids lunches, three regular Sunday lunches and two meat roll with chips between the family. The cafe is in the shopping centre. We reserved our table and had a warm friendly greeting. There is a doodle board on the wall that kept the children entertained. The staff are very kind and friendly. When we received our meals, we were pleasantly surprised at the huge size of the meals. All the food was piping hot and freshly cooked. It is excellent value for money. We will be visiting again.
