Lounge Southella in East Riding of Yorkshire

Called today 19th October for lunch. I ordered a starter and two main meals. ALL CAME TOGETHER. How ridiculous is that, Lounge????? Very unimpressed. Never again

Usually a good place to eat last visit disappointing . Staff still friendly, unfortunately both our chicken dishes where chewy ,plus cutlery was dropped on he floor and put back with other clean items

Popped in for a meal yesterday tea time with our 12 year old granddaughter. She had chicken burger and chips, I had mushroom stroganoff and bruschetta to start and my husband had chips and a pulled pork nacho starter. We all cleared our plates, even our granddaughter who’s a fussy eater and used to going out to very upmarket restaurants. My only criticism is that the chairs were quite badly stained on the seats now and either need recovering or replacing.

Three words "Dont go here" I took my family a group of 7 to the Lounge for dinner 10 6 2024. Total amount spent £194.30 .The food seved was fair to poor. I had chicken cesar salad which was seved as clumps of lettuce and lumps of chicken with frozen croutons. Most of the party had cocktails and the was no attempt made to clear the table of empy cocktail glasses before the food was served. The food was served with absolutely no care or attention and the table service was poor. When we tried to get attention to complain no staff were to be found so I went up to the bar and stood waiting on service for 10 minutes.One of the meals was refunded. Avoid The Chicken Aaribatta and the Meatball Provencale. Most of the dishes were served cold however the chips which cost £3.39 per side in addtion to the main (average cost £15.59) were delicious.

Came tonight for a meal. Ordered Lasagne it was defrosted and microwaved. Dried up and like rubber absolutely terrible. Will not be visiting again. Waste of good money

Nice relaxed place for a midweek night out. We had a couple of burgers which were very good. The staff are very friendly and efficient. Really pleased this place is close by

We visited The Lounge yesterday for a birthday treat and the food served has definitely deteriorated. The tapas was small portions, the olives and feta was literally 2 pieces of feta cheese, the spicy halloumi was too hot to eat and a miserly portion, the bruschetta was a thick slice of doughy bread with a tasteless topping. Two people had pizzas. and they were thick dough with toppings which didn't cover the whole pizza and lots of which was left. It used to be much better than this, definitely won't be going there again. Very, very disappointing!

Lovely and friendly food is gorgeous had an amazing haddock and chips (although chips slightly undercooked) not cheap but very nice.

Took my partially disabled friend for lunch & found the staff to be very friendly, caring, and efficient - just as I found at the linked NuBar in Willerby. The management are to be congratulated on staff selection & training, as well as excellent menus at sensible prices.

Perfect for anytime of the day. We are lunch today Friendly greeting and the service was wonderful Food was delicious and the price was reasonable too :) Highly Recommend

We don’t live far from here, but had never been, as we had the (wrong) impression it was a bit ‘posey’. Well I can’t comment on what night times are like, but we chanced a breakfast visit. We were served by a very friendly barman. We had a breakfast and a sandwich and fries. Everything was well cooked, presented and tasty. We were so impressed, we followed it up with a special family meal a few days later. Where again, everything was lovely. It’s a comfortable place, with a very pleasant outdoor area. Definitely recommend

This was a great little busy spot for drinks on Saturday afternoon. Nice atmosphere with a friendly team!

Pizza bussin and the calamari was goated but was a bit under fried dont get me wrong tho it’s was still bussin proly 8/10 and the fudge cake was nice as pie , and the staff were Gucci

Went for a quick pub meal. Chose the beef Stroganoff and it was awesome. For pub food it was far far better than normal pub food. Really tasty and fresh. Plenty of tender well seasoned beef and delicious fresh mushrooms in and a tasty well balanced sauce. Served with basmati rice. If this had been a top restaurant I wouldn’t have been disappointed. Restaurant standard food at pub prices. Just over £40 for 2 including a drink each. 100% recommended

I eat here often as it is my local. The staff are lovely. My favourite meal is the halloumi sizzler. I wish they would do nachos here as I sometimes go to the pub across the road for them as Lounge stopped doing them a while ago. I wish the childrens meals would come with vegetables (even if just peas) I like to see what’s on the specials board. I wish they would bring back the vegetarian lasagne (I’m not a fan of the vegan mousaka). My children love the chicken pasta. Drinks are nice and the staff are always very helpful.

Came here on a dreary, damp day but the Lounge was warm, welcoming and felt good to be inside. The staff displayed great service skills with a warm welcome and good manners. The drinks were great and the food came as described and in a timely manner. The spicy garlic tomato bread was so tasty and saucy. The chillis gave it that extra kick needed. We had paninis, both of which were lovely but my bbq meatballs one needed more sauce as the panini had soaked it up and the meatballs were a bit dry because of it.

I wasn’t overly impressed by my recent visit. The waitress with the dark hair came across as very stand-offish. I also got the impression she ‘couldn’t be bothered’. I’m sorry but if you go out to eat you should expect a good service. The other girls were friendly but unfortunately she created a bad atmosphere. The food was nice though.

we have been going to the lounge for the past year with family and friends the menu has a great selection and has always a great experience the staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is great, can personally recommend the tapas and pizza especially the garlic bread

There were 12 of us attending this celebration. We all pre-ordered our requests and everything was served feshly prepared, on time and hot. No complaints from anyone in the party at all. The staff were attentive but not intrusive. Would visit again.

The fillet steak I believe had been defrosted in a microwave as part of it was hardened and solid and difficult to eat. One steak, well done, after wondering if we had been forgotten, we were told takes 35 to 40 minutes to fully cook...

Won’t visit again, stood at the bar for 10 mins waiting to be served patiently by the one member of staff serving when another person came and stood at the bar waiting also and was served before me !! I asked ain’t I being served...

10 of us ate here for a birthday meal. 5 had beef stroganoff 1 thai curry 1 chicken sizzler 2 burgers and 1 had steak pie.Burgers were nice, sizzler was nice,curry was nice,stroganoff ok but dry not enough sauce. The steak pie was rock hard and had to be smashed open to get meat out! Informed the waiter and he wasn't bothered at all. It is quite a nice pub/diner but really need to be a bit more customer focused.

Ate here twice recently. Food is so good. My friend had stroganoff which looked (and tasted) gorgeous. I had the veggie mousaka which would have been nicer if it had proper cheese (think it might have been a vegan alternative - I’m not vegan). The chips are always good, I know many people go here purely for the homemade chips! I wish they would put a veg curry back on the menu and offer halloumi skewers (as the meat ones I’m told are always lovely). My children love the pizzas. Dan the manager is super friendly and helpful, as are all of the staff. They have implemented great covid systems and have sanitiser at the entrance.

We arrived at lunchtime and immediately asked if we had sanitised our hands. We were led to our booked table and the young man went through the procedure of ordering. We both chose the fish finger sandwich in brown bloomer with chips and salad. The meals duly arrived piping hot and I must say, the food was excellent homemade chips are a rarity these days. We were asked if everything was ok and the two young men were both excellent in welcoming us and ensuring we were ok throughout our stay. We will be definitely back. Well done Lounge!

I booked here for the EOTHO scheme last night. It was a special treat for a friend who hadn’t been out for almost a year & a half because she’d had a baby so was lots to catch up on! We ordered a drink at the bar & the bar staff etc knew we were there to eat, they prepared our table( we were sat right next to the bar)etc. We booked for 8pm & not one person told us what time the kitchen closed. We were brought a menu & of course,we started chatting. Lots of staff walked past us, they could see there was a menu on our table. At 8.50pm we realised what time it was & thought we best order some food! I went to the bar & was told the kitchen was now closed. The guy behind the bar was confused as to why no one had come over to us to tell us what time the kitchen was closing.So, no food to review, just the experience! Because we don’t see each other very often & this was such a treat, it left us both so disappointed! A real shame.

We decided late to have our tea in Lounge using the Government’s £10 off scheme. We didn’t book as we arrived before 12am but would certainly advise to book to ensure a table. We arrived and were greeted by a friendly waiter who explained there rules and asked us to use the hand sanitizer upon entry. Lead to a table for two which needed vacating within an hour and half. I ordered the Lounge Challenge (2 beef burgers with chips) whilst the wife ordered the chicken wraps again with chips. Both meals were excellent and the price with discount was just under £19. The burger normal price is £18, not cheap. The pub is ideal for people with mobility issues. There is a car park but only for around 6 cars. So, I certainly felt welcome and safe but not a fan of the 1metre rule but will definitely return.

Six of us went for a meal on Friday 14th August. Under the present circumstances it was a bit unnerving that we weren’t asked to sanitize our hands when we arrived. We were asked to use the toilets on a one in one out basis but then saw groups of up to four women go in at a time. None of the staff were wearing masks and people were gathering at the bar. We hurriedly ate our meal and left.

This was our first meal out (lunch) since lockdown. We ate outside and the food was divine. Safety measures in place. Overall a long awaited, lovely meal out.

Have enjoyed a good number of meals here. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and usually good food. Sometimes a bit of a wait but has been worth it. Ordered a Rump Steak and was very disappointed as it was cooked very rare not medium and it was extremely tough having difficulty cutting it even with my steak knife. I demonstrated this to the waiter to show him I wasn’t been awkward. After five or so minutes a different mem ever if staff returned whilst my partner was halfway though his meal by then to offer me a choice. Either have the same steak (which I asked if it would be tough like the last one if the cut of meat wasn’t good then no point) or I could pay the difference myself to have a better steak. I said that for the inconvenience I didn’t think that was appropriate since it would arrive well after my partner had finished. I settled on a refund. My money was returned to me with no questions asked. This is an example of appalling customer care. Not from the member of staff involved but was the Head Chef’s decision. Having served an inedible cut of meat, cooked it rare. Not even medium rare - I asked for medium! I was expected to pay £2 extra to have an edible meal. I settled in the refund. For the sake of £2 the policy of Lounge is to hell with their customers - no attempt to rectify it other than my own expense. You clearly need to review your meat suppliers and more so your customer care policy. Nothing short of penny pinching and disrespectful to your customers. I have shown more goodwill in my review if you than your have shown me as a customer for getting this completely wrong.

Great food and cocktails. Friendly staff, helped us find a table when it was very busy. Great atmosphere, turns into a disco on Friday nights.

We eat here on average once a week as it is within walking distance of our home. The food is always very good (the chips are amazing). The chicken fillet burger is really good. My only minor suggestion is that the children’s meals should be served with some sort of vegetables even if just peas. The meat pie is also pretty exceptional. My wife is vegetarian and wishes they had a vegetarian burger as they have changed many of the vegetarian options to be vegan using vegan “cheese” which not many vegetarians actually like and would prefer real cheese. She also misses the vegetarian lasagne however the vegetable korma is really good (even I like it). It’s nice that there is usually at least one veggie option on the specials board. The bar manager is really friendly and his staff also provide a great service. Drinks are always good and the prices are reasonable. Do book a table this bar does get very busy.

First time at this restaurant we arrived early but was shown straight to our table. We weren't told that we needed to order at the bar not too much of an issue but it would have been nice to know as we only realised when we saw others going to the bar and coming back with table numbers.The cocktails were great, excellent selection and reasonable prices. The menu had lots of options, I had the skewers and my husband had the steak, mine were a little in the dry side but still tasty, my husband's steak was cooked perfectly. Would definitely go again

We visited as a family group of seven for a post-Christmas get together. We only had main courses and everyone was pleased with the quality of the food. It was hot and portion sizes were generous. Service was friendly, efficient and nothing was too much trouble. We're fairly regular visitors and this place never disappoints.

We have been to Lounge quite a few times and the food is normally really nice however our last visit was disappointing. We paid for the food and it seemed a bit expensive but just assumed it must have been correct however when they brought the food out it turns out we was charged for an adult meal instead of a child’s meal which was practically double the price, I mentioned it to the waiter however nothing was done, not even an apology.The meatballs from the tapas was stone cold in the middle and clearly not cooked through properly and the fries were way over cooked, in fact they tasted dry and hard like they had re-fried some old ones that had been sat out too long. I didn’t bother mentioning the problems with the food as I assumed they would be about as bothered as they was when I told them they over charged us which was not remotely.

Been here twice now and eaten on both occasions. The food we had was nothing short of excellent. Everything was cooked well and it all tasted great. Restaurant quality in what is essentially a pub that serves food. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make sure all of your needs are met. Definitely worth a visit.

From day one the owners like ‘Nu-bar’ (same owner) set there stall out to be more ‘foody” than pub. The food is generally nice/good. Bar staff and servers very friendly. Fully traditional English pub “kind of”. It tries hard tho. Seating adequate but definitely not for relaxing.

Have been here many times for food and drinks infact I think we’ve virtually worked our way through the menu. Pizzas, pastas, tapas and sizzlers we’ve had the lot!It’s one of our locals but for some strange reason I have never taken the time to comment. Anyway it’s a decent place clean and tidy good selection of beers and wines and the cocktails are great too. Staff are usually very friendly and efficient but all so very young!!Food is fine like I say we’ve eaten here many times ,we’ve had great meals, we’ve had good meals and there are some that we haven’t liked but that’s more due to the fact we wanted to try something different. Overall it’s a good night out can get very busy 7 to 8 ish but you can ring ahead and they will reserve a table. One tip if you are eating here and your a couple avoid the table next to the glass entrance porch it’s like eating in a goldfish bowl.

We regularly use this venue, the lounge skewers and stroganoffs are always good. This time there was a beef wellington on the specials board, wrapped on parma ham and served with pureed potatoes, creamed cabbage and roasted beetroot with a red wine sauce, I swapped the potatoes for fried wedges, absolutely delicious, best meal I,'ve had in many visits, recommend going while it's still on special.

Booked here for my daughters 21st as she wanted to return! The food was better than the last time we came and we were impressed last time. The only thing I would suggest is if staff ask if you’d like desserts then tea and coffees as they brought us the bill before asking if we’d like anything else.

My friend and I pre-booked our Friday night table at Lounge. We have been on numerous occasions previously but not for about 6 months. You pay when you order your drinks and meals at the bar.

Popped in for lunch and it was great. The food was very good with a good range and catered for a Gluten free member of our party. We will definitely be going back.

From the excellent tapas starter to the main courses to die for this is the place to eat for excellent affordable food in a comfortable atmosphere. Service is excellent also

I booked a table for 2 for yesterday at 6pm. We were seated in the window. I immediately knew what drink I was going to order (white chocolate and raspberry martini for £7.00) after seeing that a Facebook friend had it before. It was a pretty pink colour and one of the nicest cocktails I’ve ever had.

Service was good and the food was very nice. My family loved the food (my father especially loved the T-Bone steak). Unfortunately my steak pie was a little too hard but the meat was lovely and tender. We came on Father’s Day and the atmosphere was very nice and relaxed. Will be coming back again!!

The new menu here is great. Thai curry is really nice and I’m so glad they have gone back to proper (homemade) chunky chips. This is my local and I’ve never had a bad meal here. I do think kids meals should come with peas or some sort of vegetables though.

Food is better than pub grub and there is a lovely atmosphere. You might spot the odd Hull City player! Great for family meals that are a bit above

This is my local pub and the food is always really good and staff are great. Kids meals are good portions and well priced too. The chips are no longer frozen and are really chunky, homemade chips (worth going for the chips alone). Im vegetarian (family are not though) and there is plenty of choice. I love the new menu, I had Thai green veg curry which was mild and really tasty! I would love to see a vegetarian option for a Sunday roast as my family love the roast there. My partner had the chicken Madeira today and it was really beautifully presented (and he said tasted as lovely as it looked). Pizzas here are totally homemade and really delicious too!

Consistently good food and an interesting and varied menu, from fish finger sandwich to skewers and burgers all going down well.

Firstly was very impressed by how clean & tidy it was! The staff were very well mannered & so friendly that alone will make me go back! The menu is perfect size & fab prices, the portions are more than adequate! We went for Lunch I recommend any of the sandwiches there faultless best sandwiches around the area in my views! A place not to be missed

Second time my friend and I went for lunch. Staff are exceptional really lovely atmosphere and Tapas is out of this world. I could highly recommend this place time and time again.

I ordered the Kofta for lunch - I was unhappy to find that the Kofta’s are now made from Chickpeas. Yes I didn’t look at the menu as I always order the same thing. After complaining I wasn’t told that I would be charged for another dish as I had waisted the Chickpea Kofta. Due to such a dramatic change in menu I mentioned that I would have appreciated being notified of the change, the waitress said it wasn’t the job to notify people of the changes!

Really enjoy going here whether it’s for a quick bite with friends, lunch with family or evening with friends. Food always good and hot, love the champ chicken. Staff always really helpful and friendly.

Visited today for lunch with two of my sisters. The barman was very attentive and chatty, not overly so but welcoming. We all opted for a ciabatta sandwich 2 x feta and Mediterranean vegetable and 1 x chicken Caesar. All came nicely presented with a side salad and French fries. We all chose a soft drink and the cost was less than a tenner each. We felt this was good value. We rounded off with a coffee each and a slice of chocolate and salted caramel tart ( to share) it was DELICIOUS, very moorish.

Good food. Good choice on menu. Helpful staff whose aim is to please. Very convenient for friends to meet. We shall definitely be repeating the experience.

Had a Sunday lunch at Lounge and was well satisfied with the food , I had a chicken and chorizo penne pasta which was really tasty and filling and my other half had the spicy pork pizza which was also tasty, it was a nice atmosphere and lovely surroundings, they have a large seating area outside which will be nice to sit out in summer... we will return.

Nice day for a walk so called in on spec. Some tapas and a wrap. All very simple but very tasty and well presented. Nice ambience and staff very careful.

The food here is excellent, the staff seem grumpy and silent and radio controlled. Go for the meal, bring your own atmosphere.

We booked a table for dinner on Friday evening, ordered a pint and a large glass of Pinot Grigio, unable to set a tab running which is frustrating when planning an evening but it’s more inconvenience than anything else. Whilst I’m no wine connoisseur as soon as I tasted my wine I knew it tasted wrong, very sweet or even off certainly not the Pinot Grigio expected. My husband took it back to the bar and told the staff who poured a Sauvignon to replace it, instead of replacing the wine they expected him to pay another £7. The duty manager appeared and said it was their best selling wine all of his customers like and -without tasting it himself - there was nothing wrong with it. There was no way we were going to pay for another glass, I had taken two small sips of the wine and unable to drink anymore I left the glass.

First of all the restaurant was freezing we kept moving to find a warm spot although after having to ask they then put the heating on(January!! Hello!!). The food was not good. My burger was very dry as were the chips and my dad's meal was dreadful. Shame as the place looks really nice but for the price it's not worth it. Won't be visiting again.

I visited with a friend on a weeknight just before Christmas. We had pre-booked our table near the window. The menu seemed different to the last time we visited.

Came here on a work's Christmas lunch on Wednesday 12 December.

Attended recently with OH on her birthday on a Thursday evening. Staff were very friendly and it was fairly quiet. The food was served in good time and we had a chicken stroganoff and a beef lasagne. The food was nice without being exceptional and its debatable whether it warranted being more expensive than many nearby venues but always a good vibe in here so no complaints.

We visited the Lounge yesterday 3rd September. We had been to a family funeral and it was decided to visit the Lounge in the evening, we were a party of 12 and the staff were exceptional. We had a mixture of tapas as a starter and then everyone had a main course which everyone received at the same time and piping hot. Can I thank Luke who really made our night go smoothly at this difficult time

Visited here with family, as usual it’s good pub food, nothing to rave about but good nether the less. I ordered the tomato penne pasta from the kids menu for my 9 month old. Firstly it was an adults size portion (not necessarily a bad thing) but you’d a thought they’d do a smaller portion with a bit of garlic bread with it?? As with every establishment, it served this in an adult pasta bowl & with adult cutlery. Petty maybe, but it really is the little things people love about somewhere.

Popped in to try their cocktails and were both of them were terrible, Porn star looked like dirty dishwater, and the old-fashioned had no mixer but had sugar floating around the bottom of the glass.

Bad food. Even worse when it’s over priced bad food. £58 for a bit of tasteless tapas, lasagne and a couple of drinks. Live nearby but won’t be back.

We visited on a Saturday lunch and it was quiet. We ordered a beef and Stilton sandwich with chunky fries and a ham and cheese sandwich with skinny fries. Now the last time we ate here, the sandwiches were crammed with fillings, but this time we were disappointed as the beef was just one piece in the whole sandwich and the cheese was just a grated sprinkling. Although the ham was very nice and thick. The chips were super hot and fresh. Nothing outstanding, but acceptable.

We visited Lounge today and to be honest the food wasn’t brilliant. I myself had the chicken fajita sizzler which was really disappointing, the chicken was bland and quite chewy with no spice whatsoever, surely fajita chicken is supposed to be spicy? It came with a few shrivelled peppers and onions and a bowl of chips that were clearly oven chips, again really tasteless and dry. Because a few of us had ordered the fajitas, the wraps and sauces came out “to share” which wasn’t ideal as not everyone who had ordered the fajitas were sat close enough to share? So we all had to swap seats because of this which we didn’t really want to do. There were also no side plates to make the wraps, spoons for the sauces or anything so we had to ask for those as extra.

Have eaten here a few times and always enjoy my meal. The staff are polite and friendly and the place is clean.

We opted for the Sunday roast , one Chicken and one Beef. Although the quality of the food was excellent the portion size was in my opinion a 'child size'. Please if your going 'A la carte' size please advertise that fact.

I visited on a Saturday night with a party of work-mates. We had a large table in a small annexe off the bar area. It was quite chilly with lots of draughty windows. We had pre-ordered our meals so were quite organised.

My self and my friend went for a Saturday afternoon meal I had mixed grill and my friend has Stilton burger and was lovely would definitely go again nice place nice staff great food

Good food - salads tapas etc - but have to pay as you go so used credit card 5 times for each drink coffees and food orders. Also could not even have a hot chocolate as no chocolate & no Bloody Mary as no Worcester sauce - which they didn’t have 5 weeks ago when we last visited - convenience store next door to buy these but told the manager orders the supplies - which he is obviously not doing - very poor.

Great Family dinner.. ..very good portion and quality in presentation....and price was impressive for the portion size!! Service was very good and polite...thank you!!

Still not sure were the owners want this pub to sit in the scheme of things. Primarily it hits you as an restaurant type pub with very little space for your casual pub trade. Food and portions are fine. With music being loud later on the evenings it then becomes a 'pub'. Seems to be a place to 'start' but definitely not to finish atm in time.

I visited with a friend on a weekday tea-time. We had booked in advance as we wanted a table near the window. There were quite a few people in already considering that it was only 6:30. There was a pleasant relaxed atmosphere. We ordered and paid for our drinks and meals at the bar and were given a table number. For our mains we ordered a vegetable pizza (£9.95) and a chicken stroganoff (£10.95). Our meals were cooked fresh and brought by a friendly waiter who came back later to check that everything was OK. We both thoroughly enjoyed our tasty meals.

I've been to Lounge Southella twice before. The first time was excellent when I opted for the steak and seafood pizza and the second time, my halloumi salad was incredibly poor.

Myself, my partner and my daughter visited the Lounge in December for my birthday, Its the second time we've been here. I had beef stroganoff, my partner and daughter both had skewers. We had a garlic bread between us. The food was perfectly cooked and delicious and the garlic bread was a real one, not a cheap baguette cut into slices. We all loved the food. The place is vibrant and laid back at the same time. A great atmosphere, smashing service and we will definitely be back.

Decided to go here instead of car very, big mistake. 5 of us all had different meals , wasn’t a good one among them, son in law had meat skewers with rice, rice was cold asked them to change still cold. He ordered some fries they never arrived until we had finished. I could go on , we will not be going back

Enjoyed a dinner here with friends. Although packed out (for good reason), we thoroughly approved of table booking system, friendly service and excellent food, especially my Kofka.
