Lotus House Chinese Takeaway in Gravesham

The Mirimar was always our go-to chinese takeaway until it closed a couple of years ago. Tried a few others, settled on the Lotus House, and up until recently it was pretty decent. Unfortunately last weekend's meal was almost inedible, and they forgot items on the order, so a disappointing experience all round. Won't be back.

We love it here, the only place we get out chinese's from. very affordable staff are lovely and the food is amazing, there is only one downside and that is that the service could be a bit quicker and more organised. apart from that it’s an amazing takeaway

Been calling for ages and they refuse to pick up like you can atleast pick the phone up and say your not available-

My family have been using this takeaway for at least 40 years when it opened. Over the past few months the speed of service has been getting worse. Today we ordered by phone at 5pm when it opened and we were ordering number one. We arrived as directed to collect at 5.20pm. The order is by no way large but several orders have been collected, but not ours. We've been told five to ten minutes at least four times now. The phone lines are down so there are no new orders coming in, yet they are advising at least a 50 minute wait for people walking in. Absolute disgrace. No apology, just the offer of free prawn crackers. We finally got our order at 6.15pm.

The food in this place is okay, but the service is absolutely terrible. I have to check it and open the containers In the place every time because they get it wrong so often. Out of the last five times, I’ve been there they’ve got it wrong five times

Terrible service . Waited over an hour for food and was cold

Don’t know if this is under new ownership, but it’s nowhere as nice as it used to be. Don’t think I’ll be going back again

Food is not bad but organisation is atrocious and there is always part of the order missing but they don’t care when you bring it to their attention. Only take cash. Would not use again as plenty of honest businesses around.

I have been getting my take away from the lotus house for as long as I can remember 40 years . It's always been consistent in the quality of the food , in all the years I've probably only had a couple dishes that I thought hmmmm this isn't the usual standard . Been very picky with the four stars because they don't make the large spring rolls , I'm 100% certain they are pre-made and cooked from frozen and the prawn crackers can be soggy . But this is me being picky. Still would recommend this take away . Btw CASH ONLY has always been this way

This place is awful. Ordered king prawn chow mien, Beef fried rice, sweet & sour chicken and Salt & pepper wings. The king prawns in the Chow mien were off and the food looked like it had been thrown together for 3 secs not cooked properly. To add insult to injury, called to complain and got an unapologetic, very rude response. I won’t be returning again. I wouldn’t bother if I were you.

Very busy at the time we ordered. We were told it would be a 40 min wait. Decided to order anyway. Did not take that long. Disappointed with the chicken chow mein as it was mainly all onion. Chilly chips were not bad just not quite as expected .Rest of our meal were ok

Won’t be using this restaurant anymore due to the fact that the last 3 times we have ordered there is also something missing. The last time I actually asked them to double check the order that everything was in the bag when we got home 2 item missing when we phoned them to say that the order wasn’t all there they tried to say we didn’t order it we did and read it back to them twice VERY BAD SERVICE AND BAD ATTITUDE FOOD HASN'T BEEN GREAT ON LAST 3 OCCASIONS LAST TIME WAS THE FINAL STRAW

This is the worst Chinese I’ve eaten. The food was completely bland with no taste at all, not even salt. I don’t how they have 4.4 stars. All the reviews must be false. I will never buy from here again

Great Chinese takeaway! Food is always well cooked and the service is very friendly. Recommended and well worth 5 stars.

Good food, though service can be slow

Im surprised to see the other reviews saying its bad. By far my favourite chinese takeaway. When i eat other chinese it makes me want food from here. The staff are nice too.

Good food with a reasonable price; I've visited here many times and the food is always good. They don't take card - but there is a cash machine in the shop a few doors down so this really isn't much of an issue. Highly recommend 👍

Until recently I used to enjoy my visits for some of the nicest Chinese I've eaten. Not any more......I wonder if it's changed hands as there are different staff now. What definitely has changed is the food. Last night I ordered Chinese chicken with boiled rice and the alarm bells were ringing when it took less than a couple of minutes to appear. The rice was hard and congealed but the main course was disgusting and had obviously been recycled. The chicken was as dry as you like and the beansprouts had what looked like old crispy noodles mixed in with them. I never write reviews but feel I should warn people to be wary of what they may be letting themselves in for, or at least until they find a competent chef. I have given it 1 star because I can't submit my review otherwise.....last night's food really deserves a 0.

Terrible absolutamente repugnante la peor comida para llevar que he experimentado. Gustos comida asquerosa estaba fría descuidadas y apestaba. No comer allí incluso si me pagaron

He estado viniendo aquí desde que abrió, (odio que largo que es) y nunca tuvimos una mala comida o orden incorrecto. De hecho recuerdo conseguir fichas en una noche de viernes como un adolescente, así que estamos hablando de más de 25 años. . Y es la misma chica que me sirve! El personal es muy agradable, ya que toma su pedido por teléfono o en la tienda y la comida siempre está lista en tiempo muy rápido, incluso en un viernes o sábado por la noche. Si vives en la finca con vista al río o incluso si estás de paso y te gusta la comida para llevar china te será un tonto que pierdas. Solo aceptan efectivo o cheques, pero hay una en el quiosco reintegros en cajeros de al lado, así que no os asustéis si estás tentada a pedir más de lo que pensé inicialmente.
