Disgusting. Ordered food and it all came wrong gave me prawns mixed in with food when I never asked for it and when phoning to resolve it no awnser and being hung up on. Worst Chinese in the area in my opinion

Excellent quality tasty food with good sized portions. This has been my go to Chinese for over 30 years. Now living in New Zealand, when I come back to visit, my mouth salivates at the thought of getting my fav dishes. When I returned last time, the food tasted exactly the same as when I first walked through the shop door. It was also good to see the owners haven’t changed, hence the high standards.

Got a new Menu only a month old, but guest what I ordered the same meal that i had a month ago gone up £2+ £1 For a bag . Ordered at 18.07 and it's 20.53!!! But we ordered a delivery and there's been collections so our custom don't matter?!?! But it's ok we'll knock £2 off. I get it's Christmas Eve but be honest about waiting time!! I would of collected if given the option

The king prawns were not very big. There were big chunks of onion in all the dishes. The whole dinner wasn't very tasty at all...very disappointing. Sorry but we won't be coming back there for anymore meals.

Always had good meals from them until tonight curry very watery and flavor less food cold and loads of onion to make up the volume when I phoned to complain and ask what they could do about it the answer was nothing, sorry. Will have to look for another chinese takeaway. Mistakes happen I know but to completely ignore a customers complaint is unacceptable

We had a take away from Lotus House Stanford le Hope 2 weeks ago on a Friday night at a friend's house, it was one of the best Chinese takeaways we've had in years!! Then we tried it again tonight (also a friday) and it was equally as amazing!! So freshly cooked, such lovely flavours and light, not heavy with oil like other takeaways we have tried. We won't go anywhere else now, we have to drive from Brentwood but its well worth it!!!

Rice tasted chemically, lemon chicken! Just small balls of batter in a lemon sauce. Sweet and sour pork, small balls of batter in a sauce, curry tasteless and powdery, all I'm the bin with menu

Been a customer for thirty odd years now and know this family very well.There good hard working people that serve the best takeaway Chinese in all of Essex.Kev you are outstanding ,as for your wife and children they are so down to earth ! The food is not greasy and a good size. The only downside personally is that food is not seasoned that well and taste bland compared to other Chinese. Also the menu is smaller. Good service and staff are polite. If they flavoured their food a bit better then it would certainly be one of the best around

Having used this takeaway for over 20 years I am saddened to inform you that the quality of food is not what it was noodles were tasteless with no flavour whatsoever and the 4 pieces of processed chicken were not fit for human consumption (even cat would not eat it)Curry was just as bad same thing 4 pieces of processed chicken would suggest owners serve up edible or go back to what they were doing before and stop ruining the reputation of good quality takeaway

In hearing the local feedback on the news mgt of the Chinese Ona visit home I thought I would try it and make up my own mind. Playing it safe I just ordered a pancake roll. Well I’m glad I didn’t order more. One bit in abs I had a mouth full of oil….. I could squeeze the oil out and probably fry chips nearly all night. Straight into the bin. Glad I didn’t order any more! What a shame. A place that for 30 years has been the best place to grab a nice Chinese meal…. Gone.

Well just had a very lovely dinner from Lotus House. It's the first time I have ever used them. The food was lovely and was delivered in just 20mins.

Moved to the area 18 months ago. Tried lots of Chinese takeaways in the area over lockdown ok but not great. Then we got this Chinese menu through the door. They deliver so thought we'd try as a family. So glad we did. Really delicious food at reasonable prices. Will only be using this takeaway from now. Great food and great service.

Tried for the first time today and will definitely use this chinese every time. Really delicious food. Ordered quite a few dishes for the whole family and we all thoroughly enjoyed everything. Won't go anywhere else from now on. Thank you lotus house.

Been using lotus house for many years. Spend on average approx £50 per week . This place is getting worse by the week since Amanda and Kye left. Phone order Through for collection as now they don’t deliver to our area ? . Every week I end Up waiting over half hour in the shop for our food ? What’s the point of phoning In a order . More annoying is the fact that more than once they have not given Us all what we order . We phone and get told either come and get it or we didn’t Order it ,although we have been charged for it ? Their attitude is appalling. Hope They loose all of their business because they will definitely be losing ours. Their Loss approx £200 per month .

I used to order from tis restaurant on a weekly basis even waiting for the engaged tone on the phone to get through as they were really busy but seems as new owners are now in place and i have never eaten anything like it with the dead square plastic chicken to the shredded chill beef that doesn't taste of anything so wont be eating here again

Had our first take away after the lockdown on fathers day, well, I've been going to the lotus house for nearly 40, yes 40, years. I know ownership was changed middle of last year & was still good. The previous owners helping with the transition before retiring. I do not know if the lotus house has changed hands again during the lockdown, but the food was abysmal. When they start padding out the dishes with carrots etc., you know they are cutting corners, maybe to stay afloat, but they will lose customers. Loads of veg, pre formed chicken, wishy washy sauces, never again.

This takeaway is extremely good, in fact I rarely go anywhere else. I've been a customer for more than 10 years and what you get is great quality and consistency, with a friendly smile.

Never ordered from here before and won't be again. Greasy, literally dripping, no taste except for the over riding taste of cooking oil. Expecting to be spending a considerable amount of time on the toilet after only a few mouthfuls! Avoid

Have just returned our food to this establishment and won’t be eating from there again. Placed order over the telephone for which, due to language barrier, we had to repeat three times. Order arrived and one of the dishes wrong. Called to complain and they kindly offered to cook another dish that they would deliver in 30 minutes. I explained this was not good enough as this would mean the rest of our food would be stone cold. After continuously being told “no problem, no problem”, even when there clearly was a problem, they offered to refund the price of the dish only!! When I refused this and insisted on my money back, they agreed but was very insisted on the return of the food. Really?? After getting our order wrong but we didn’t want it anyway so whilst they were unable to get us another dish for half hour, one of the workers managed to bring the money and collect the food within 5 minutes. This take away was always so nice and service so good. Will need to look elsewhere for a new takeaway.

Was never ever charged a delivery charge . Just placed a order for £89.00 as family round had to pay £5.00 delivery ? . Never ever again will I order from you greedy people .. YOUR LOSS BYEEEE

This Chinese has been involved in my since 1993 the food has all ways all ways been spot on can't fault this place good people good food good service!!! Don't let a few silly reviews spoil this place for you as they won't let you down! I now live in basildon and still travel Every time I want a Chinese!

Seems to have gone massively down hill recently. We used to be very happy to wait an hour for food here and routinely traveled half hour to get there but the quality of the food is very questionable recently and we really didn't enjoy it.

They’ve changed the chicken in their curry to processed chicken 🤷🏼‍♂️ no need to travel to Stanford anymore I’ll just go locally. Ring in advance can be 1 hour wait on Fridays/Saturdays.

All round great food and service. Next time I go and stay with my sister in East Tilbury I'll definitely be getting another takeaway from this place. Everything was cooked to perfection and very reasonably priced.

We stay at family home for one night had a takeaway and it was very nice to eat would go back if we was stay back in Essex again.

Had to order and go back after 40 minutes to collect. The food was tepid at best. I ordered a mushroom chow mien only to discover chicken in it when I got home - not ideal for a vegetarian ..shocking, to say the least - I am glad I checked before tucking in...needless to say, I will not be returning!

Portion sizes are good. There is plenty of variety to choose from. Don't just stick to the set meals, try the main menu as well.

Ordered a take for 8 people last night. Very busy so had an hour wait but it was so worth it. Very good prices and the food was stunning. We had a good selection if dishes; beef in black bean sauce, sweet and sour chicken, king prawn curry, chicken and pineapple, chow mein amongst others. The meats were tender and delicious and the sauces spot on. Highly recommended.

Just moved to the area and having tried a couple I think this is the best by far. Polite staff, friendly, and the food is all cooked fresh and is piping hot. Everything we’ve had has been lovely. Some places there are a few dishes to avoid but not here (so far, so good). Highly recommended... Would be 5 stars if it were easier to get through on the phone. We are local so always just walk down and order but would be better if we could phone order through or better still order online.

I have been using the Lotus House for years now and I cannot find another shop that comes near their food. You have to allow enty of time to get through on the phone and for deliveries at the weekend but it is worth the wait because its very popular.

Used to always get our Chinese from here now it seems they don't bother answering the phone so you can't order for collection so you go in and have to wait, staff just seem annoyed they have another customer.saying all that it is really nice food but with the service we just go elsewhere now.

Vile food, special skills needed to make curry this tasteless and rice so greasy. Duck not shredded as requested but cut in large chunks, smelt so bad not even cat would touch it. Never again.

We have been eating from here for years now, Always good fresh food: We have the lotus special curry with egg fried rice and no other Chinese can compete with the curry, lotus special chow-mein also delicious & smothered in nice bbq sauce, also recommend salt & chilli ribs or crispy chilli beef which is crispy as should be (some places seem to be spongey) pancake rolls are also really good

Woeful food served in an oil slick and staff are almost as unpleasant as the taste their food left in my mouth, no excuse to go here when there are nicer places locally.

By far the best Chinese in the area, I wouldn't order from another - I now live 20 mins away, and have loads of Chinese takeaways closer to me, but I make the drive because its totally worth it!They are also very good for catering to allergies, such as MSG intolerance.

Yes the food is brilliant but the customer service is just shocking. I asked for an item that was not on the menu... plain no sauce shredded chicken and I'm told I'm the one in the wrong and when TRYING to talk to the lady on the phone, I couldn't get a comment in edge ways and not even one apology. Sorry but even if you don't mean the bloody thing an apology goes a long way.

We live fairly local but for the last year or more we have been unable to order any Chinese food from them. We ring up at 5.45pm - no reply. We ring at 8pm- no reply. We spoke to some local people who all agreed that the food was great but that the owners go away on holiday quite a lot and close the place completely! I'd love to be able to just pick up the phone and order a meal but it seems we're destined not to. Come on Lotus house, play the game and open like other takeaways do.

Delivered stone cold food, rung them up, they didnt appoligise, had an arguement after dishing food out to familly, then told if i order again they will sort discount, no good, i wanted food hot and delivered but instead i got cheek, and told to put it all in pots n pack it up, thanks for washing up mate, and the inconvience, you was talking to me like i was a liar, avoid this guy, he wasnt even sorry, just inconvineced me and left me with a load of washing up, and a bad attitude!
