Lotus House in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

If you are of an age when you had Chinese takeaway in the 80s (I did with my parents) then this place will take you back. The poor comments are understandable if a bit harsh based on our experience. The portions are on the small side. The meat content is mean. The sauces are runny. The taste isn't bad though. It's ok, but just ok and no more. Why don't the owners read the feedback and adapt? It's all there for them.

Ordered a set meal for 2. Really enjoyed it. A bit insipid to look at but very tasty. Ready at time stated over the phone. Would use them again.

We nearly didn’t order from here due to the recent bad reviews, but as we are soon moving to the area thought we would give it a go and I am so pleased we did. All 4 of us really enjoyed our food and it will certainly be one of our regulars going forward. It is reasonably priced and we had no complaints about the portion size or the quality. It is a proper traditional Chinese takeaway and if that is what you like then I would certainly recommend it.

The worst Chinese I have ever had, and I’m not joking! Small portions overly covered in sauce, Cantonese Sweet and Sour Chicken Dry, Chewy, inedible, it looked like it wasn’t cooked and just out of the freezer!! We are at Heacham and thought we’d try instead of Silk Road as cheaper but not worth the Xtra time and petrol to pick up! Won’t be returning!

This takeaway is only good for one dish it seems. The peking duck! That’s why you got 1 star! My meal was tragic! It was the chicken in yellow bean sauce, the chicken was so dry it was inedible, it was salty and a tiny portion! I’m a local and won’t be rushing back. Also when you answered the phone I could hear you having a go at each other about putting the phone on silent. So unprofessional.

Tragic. Reheated rubbish. Used to eat here many years ago then moved away. Years back the food here was fantastic. Always tasted fresh and good portion sizes. Not anymore. Chicken balls tasted like they’d be fried then reheated. Chow mein tasted stale and all in all it felt depressing. Prices were cheap. Put them up and provide better quality food.

Absolutely terrible service and food . Frozen pancake rolls overpriced mcain oven chips JUST DONT BOTHER I'll never get back the 45 mins of my life I waited for this rubbish ........ worst ever

Ordered the sweet and sour ribs that came to 7.30 which came with 2 ribs not even a quarter of a rack, small chunks of onion and pepper which were basically raw and way too much sauce couldn't taste anything else as it was drenched in sauce. Definitely made a massive profit it needs more ribs and alot less sauce

Read some mixed reviews but decided to give this place a go as was local to where we were staying. Absolutely lovely, everything we ordered was tasty and fresh, ready in good time and reasonably priced, compared to our Chinese at home. Will definitely be back on our next visit.

My wife and I had a takeaway from here tonight. Our meals were okay, nice but nothing I would rush back for especially as I thought it was a wee bit expensive. Prawn toast was very good

Again my better judgement I decided to use this place instead of Silk2 near snettisham. I think it's the worst takeaway I've ever had it went in the bin absolutely inedible

This restaurant is brilliant, the staff are always friendly, the food is great quality and a price you can't beat. My personal favourite is the Cantonese sweet and sour chicken. I think you will struggle to find an establishment so great in such a small village. Cannot recommend it enough.

Wow what a fantastic place. They seem to Cater for all taste. My vegan son, vegetarian daughter and us meat eaters. Hot tasty food. Unsure why someone wrote on here they don't take card, but they definitely do. Polite friendly staff. Highly recommend this place.

Very tasty food, quick and friendly service. The mixed vegetables with cashews was particularly tasty.

We had a set meal, very nice indeed. Rang beforehand and picked it up in less that 45mins. Particularly enjoyed the soup and beef with mushrooms

The Lotus House is the closest Chinese takeaway to us but sadly it doesn't do delivery or have a huge selection. Okay if we are eating in on our own at home but if we have family and/or friends round we use Silk Road II in Heacham. Wish we could rate higher but we have to say it as we see it. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Sadly I only take to trip advisor for amazing or awful and this was awful. Firstly the place is cash only.... I mean really???? So had to leave and find a cash point in small village. Food typical of places with no competition in a village - very average. Small containers not mentioned on menu with set meals, guy before me got prawn crackers with his order I spent the same and didn’t (I hadn’t already complained about the cash only) I asked to be blanked at first then to be told I hadn’t reached minimum spend. Just a very disappointing experience. Food I guess was a 2/5 but the attitude of staff and management made it 1 overall. Suggest avoiding and making effort to travel a few more miles to better reviewed places.

With no competition, only chinese take a way in town and no indian take a way the standards could have been anything so was pleased to discover it was quite good. The prawn crackers were the best we've had in ages. This would have been excellent but the portions were all the small size containers so worked out quite expensive. Having said that the food was nice and we ate every bit and for once had none of the thirst that usually follows a chinese take a way. Would have had a return visit but it closed from Christmas eve until sometime in January. No home delivery either.

Avoid this Chinese takeaway! The food was inedible and had to throw it all away. If I hadn’t been staying in the middle of Sandringham Forest and wanting to get back for Strictly I would have taken it back and got a refund! I had to wait for almost an hour for it to be ready, full of unsuspecting customers, which made me think it must be good but how wrong can you be! I really have never had food like this, I ordered Cantonese chicken and it wasn’t even recognisable as chicken. It was covered in a batter type of covering, I suspect it had been in a freezer for far too long ( possibly several years!!!) terrible. The ribs were in a thin salty sauce again inedible. I wouldn’t have fed any of this to the dog. I didn’t want it left in the Motorhome so took it straight to the bins. I just hope the squirrels didn’t manage to get it as it would have been an equal danger to wildlife! Probably enough said! Avoid at all costs.

Después de haber probado dos tiendas desde aquí es evidente que la comida de aquí no es de nuestro gusto. Con esto en mente no volveremos.Habiendo dicho eso, no era nada terrible sobre la comida y no me volveré a efecto.Lo siento no para nosotros.

Been there a few times. Food isn't cosistant, quite bland and more veg than meat. You pick basics, they are ok.

Local to the cottage we were holidaying in. Small portions,very little meat, lots of soggy batter on the sweet and sour prawns hiding tiny prawns. Better avoided.

Tuvimos una excelente llevar hace un año en nuestra última visita. Pero no puedo decir lo mismo de este año. La comida era mala, utilicen las rodajas en el especial reformado chichen arroz frito y la salsa curry era horrible. El resto de la comida era muy grasienta. Lo siento pero no volveremos el próximo año. En el lado positivo el personal de la recepción fue muy amable.

Your never far from a take away, even when camping in the UK. A short drive from the caravan club site, hot chinese in the van 10 mins later.......... Cant get better than that....

We had a takeaway from Lotus House and the food was below par unfortunately. For example if you order lemon chicken, you get some deep fried chicken nuggets with a lemon sauce to add yourself (which was very watery). The same applied to another chicken...

He usado este establecimiento varias veces a lo largo de los años, por pura desesperación por una "solución rápida" cerca de llevar más que por la calidad de la comida. Nunca he tenido "dulce y amargo cerdo de cerdo (sic) estilo Hong Kong" preparado el camino está aquí. El personal es totalmente incompatible con decir por favor y gracias. Menú es limitado. Las horas de apertura son rara vez respetarse, cierre temprano o no abrir del todo durante algunos días laborables a pesar de sus horarios de apertura de la carta dice lo contrario. Tal uso perdido del edificio.

We are doing self catering so stopped for a Chinese takeaway. Had a very good sweet and sour with BBQ spare ribs and a chop suet. Hot and very tasty. The staff were very nice too. Would certainly recommend if you are in the area.

Easy to find,and even if it wasn't I would travel miles to find Chinese food at this standard.... Absolutely fantastic service and food.. Thankyou.

Used to live local to this Chinese takeaway, so a one off treat for us over the weekend. Yes, you have to wait a while as they take a lot of telephone orders! But it is worth it! Fresh, tasty and consistent! Friendly staff and very reasonable prices. Never had a problem with missed order or tasteless food. Decent portion sizes and very accommodating - will change things if you ask!

We ordered sweet and sour chicken balls, house special fried rice, chips, vegetable spring rolls, chicken in black bean sauce, and it was all perfect, plenty of it too! Will definitely try them again sometime :) Would recommend!

My mother, my boyfriend & myself regularly get Chinese from here & it's great every time. Usually only a 15 minute wait. The sweet & sour chicken balls are delicious. I have them every time! Just writing this review is making me want a Chinese now! I definitely recommend this take away.

Ordered a take away meal for two and had to wait 45 mins to collect it. No apology and they didn't even look that busy. Food was expensive but very mediocre would not go to again.
