This place has really good food

Our party of 6 were shoved onto the smallest table even though we had 2 buggies, when asked to move they refused to accommodate which set off to a poor start, our drinks orders were taken far too quickly we had only just sat down and felt extremely rushed which made me and my cousin as new mums with our buggies feel very anxious that we weren’t welcome there. Staff had overall really poor attitudes and food wasn’t up to standards in my opinion, we ordered a chicken dish for starters and it looked like they had just defrosted a load of frozen chicken strips onto a plate and plopped a bit of curry sauce in the middle don’t know how they can expect you to finish the items you order in order to get the buffet price when they look like that! I also ordered a cider and they just brought out the unopened can to the table which shocked me a little😅I’ve worked in hospitality and know something like that you decant into a glass before bringing to the customer if they’re eating at a table. Just overall not impressed unless you’re planning on going and just ordering the Singapore noodles for £25 (which were tasty) i wouldn’t recommend😕

Always amazing, it’s our go-to for a nice meal. The ribs with spare sauce and peppered steak sizzling plate are our favourites (along with duck!)

It wasn’t great, waited a long time for food and when it did come it was the wrong dishes, this happened a few times. They were warm but not Hot. Did not tip as the service was terrible. We spent £250 I wouldn’t rush back there.

The food is good. Parking is a problem on weekends when there are meal bookings. Otherwise, its a good place to dine with colleagues, family and friends. 👍😊

Excellent all you can eat buffet. You choose dishes from the menu and it is served at the table. It is £27.00 per person for the evening. Staff are professional and attentive. The only issue is that you turn out of the carpark onto a busy A road and it is on a bend so you have to put you're foot down immediately.

Excellent find. An 'All-you-can-eat' Chinese with everything cooked to order. Great service and atmosphere. Food was superb! Too many highlights to list. Will definitely return if in the area. Only minor negative is that the dining chairs are a bit low, my knees were up around my ears! That being said, still a great establishment.

Let’s start with the elephant in the room: From the outside it looks like it is closed to going into administration. The garden area hasn’t been kept up in years, letters falling off the sign and the dead plants…. If you didn’t know any better you’d drive right pass and not give it a second thought. However once through the doors you see a different side to this hidden gem. All of the food is fresh and made to order - nothing is left out under hot lamps or been poked about by anyone else. Very tasty and seasoned well. Service is fast and direct - the staff are there to ensure you get your food quickly and they do so. This place gets very busy from opening time no matter what time of year. Enjoy

Been going for the last 20 plus years at least twice a month, last night, they bought the Duck out with the starter, strange, it was cold by the time we got to eat it, it wasn't only our table they did it to, every other table was the same What's all this about!

Had a takeaway and it was inedible. They have cut costs to the point of absurdity, the chicken balls are tiny, the shredded chilli beef has no beef, and the egg fried rice tastes off. The delivery took minutes, but not really worth it when we couldn't even eat it. Won't be ordering from here again as unfortunately this is the norm for the last few times we have ordered.

We went away for a weekend and found this place by chance. After arrival at our guest house in the middle of nowhere we discovered the local pub was no longer doing food. It was a Friday evening, so we did a google search, Oriental Palace was in the next village, and we called to see if they could fit us in. They did with no problem. Parking was easy, lots of spaces. We were seated after a couple of minutes, the place was full, very loud but with a nice atmosphere. We found out you could only order off the 'All you can eat' menu. Which we didn't really want, but had to eat. The food was excellent, flavoursome, and melt in the mouth. It arrived on lots of small dishes. There was only one dish we didn't like. The food was served fast, and the staff were efficient, friendly, and rushed off their feet. We would definitely eat here again, but we would order from the takeaway menu. You can't have a doggy bag for food you haven't finished, which is unfair, considering we paid for it hence 4 stars.

As somebody who comes here regular, my visit on 05/01/2024 was not the best. The food was ok but the service and atmosphere was just not how it usually is. I don't know if all of the staff woke up on the wrong side of the bed but even a smile would have been nice. Unfortunately I won't be coming here again.

Chicken Fied Rice and Mushroom Fried Rice (both) wre excellent in taste as well as aroma. If you are a small eater then order one which is enough for two people. Lemon Chicken is small serving but it was excellent. Szechwan Chicken was good too. Friendly Staff and atmosphere is just fantastic. I will highly recommend this restaurant and we will visit again and again

I always get a takeout from here and get it delivered. The food is always tasty and hot. The lady on the other end of the phone is very efficient.

Food is ok but service is not as good as it used to be and at £27 each this is now very poor value. Overpriced.

Staff where really rude, service was really slow starters came out completely serperate roughly 30 mins apart from each other. The tables are really close together, asking for drinks and the staff just give you a blank expression with no communication at all like your asking for the world from them. Wouldn't go back there again

Went for an ‘All you can eat’ menu and the manager came over and said we would have to pay for the food we did not eat after the meal. Rude, argumentative and unprofessional. Would not go back. Ruined a good evening. Food was ok but service was the worst I’ve encountered.

I haven't been before have looked at menu looked great so decided to take my family. On arrival the place was in darkness several cars followed us into the car Park stuck on the door a notice saying closed for 2 weeks from 18th September This wasn't on the website we had travelled from Heacham. We sat in car Park for a while thinking where we could go during that time at least 10 cars came in people not happy! We ended up going to Arbuckles had lovley meal. Went on website this morning still doesn't say closed so how many others will be arriving to find closed not good customer service.

Brilliant food, love eating here and have been for many years

The quality of food has gone downhill.The waitress was struggling to get meat of peking duck and you could see why there was hardly any meat and it was greasy. Had a mixed seafood dish only had 4 prawns and two slivers of octopus. Ordered Special Noodles as before but much smaller portion. Favourite sizzling beef dish tasted overpoweringly of ginger not as before. We hope this is a temporary bleep and you take note that your recent reviews are saying same . Smaller portions less quality.

Table for CarrNewman - 3 people (07/07/23) All you can eat buffet - poor service - poor atmosphere - very expensive. A few seconds after we had sat down, we were asked for our drink orders - didn't have time to even look at the drink menu. As soon as drink orders were taken, still yet to open the food menu, we were asked for our starters. Starters were tasty - recommend: the chicken skewers, duck, and meat spring rolls. Mains were really tasty but really small portions and they forgot to bring out a dish. Recommend the shreeded crispy beef and sweet and sour chicken in Cantonese style. Deserts seem expensive for what they are - refreshing but a McDonald's McFlurry would have done it. As a whole experience, really poor. The majority of the saff who looked after us made us feel rushed. I paid for my own meal which was a grand total of £36 - expensive right! The breakdown of the costs are as follows: £25 buffet, £4 dessert, £7 for two pineapple juices. This is really expensive compared to the GOLDEN CITY in Bury St Edmunds which, when I went on the 01/07/23, it was a grand total of £25 - Cost breakdown: £21 buffet including desert, £4 for two cokes. I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you are happy to waste money on poor service, poor atmosphere, and tasty but small meals.

Awesome food, good service but it was packed on a Friday evening, which meant the food was a little slow to come out. Still great fresh food though.

We have visited a number of times, the food and service are reasonable, but to my mind the quality is not quite as good as it used to be, yet the prices have increased. £23pp (rising to £25pp on a Friday and Saturday), plus £3.50 for a pint of soft drink, seem like premium prices, for food that isn't quite on point and decor that's a little tired. While the service was good during our last visit, we were initially charged the adult price for my fiancee's 8 year old daughter (£23 instead of £12). If I'm being generous this is at least a careless mistake, at worst opportunistic deceit. Much of the food was good (smoked chicken, capital ribs, satay chicken, sizzling black pepper beef and egg fried rice), but some could have been better. The squid was a little over cooked. Roast pork chow mein was primarily beansprouts and a bit oily. Roast duck with vegetables was anaemic and the fat insufficiently rendered. For similar money you could get a couple of courses at, say, the Duck Inn in Stanhoe. This is admittedly a different cuisine, but the food is significantly better quality, more refined and consistently so.

Food was very tasty and service was quick. Overall, it was good being a Saturday night and busy.

Realistically rate the quality at 1.0, szechuan chicken, no authentic flavour at all with chopped noodles added? Watery. Prawn Toast, with no flavour. Chicken balls mostly batter, and frozen chicken meat. Salt and pepper chicken I could buy from Tesco and cook. Chips good and a nice satay sauce. But that was it. I've ordered better.

We had the buffet menu, £25 a head and what we got for that left me feeling a bit ripped off. Parking was a struggle as well as it was quite busy.

Lovely food and plenty of it. Staff are knowledgeable and professional. Restaurant is decorated very well and the place feels comfortable.

A friend and I went there one lunch time, I can fault anything, food was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful.

A great Resturant and take away who always provide a great service and exceptionally good food. They always cater for my little boy and get him a little chair to sit on. Only thing I would say, there is no baby changing facilities at this restaurant so be aware of that. Otherwise, definitely worth a visit. One of my favourite oriental Resturants. 🥰

I'm really struggling to give this place 1 star.. went as a party of 6 for early xmas meal. Food bang average, staff bordering on rude, tables and lay out was cramped and dull.. Was just a drab experience so wont be recommending nor going back!

Myself and my family ( group of 9) dined her last night . The service was absolutely dreadful from start to finish - we had to ask staff repeatedly for the drinks that we had ordered , this included going to the bar several times . The young male at the bar seemed more interested in texting on his mobile phone than “customer service “. The food - there were large gaps between this arriving at the table in fact we got dishes we hadn’t ordered and some food we did order never arrived!!! The restaurant was full and it showed that clearly you had over booked as you could not provide a good service for the amount of customers you had in your restaurant. We have enjoyed good food and service here previously , sadly it appears this is now a thing of the past !!! We will not be recommending you - neither will be keen to return 🙁

Every time we order our take away. Sweet n sour chicken Cantonese style the chicken is so dry with hardly any sauce. It’s called sweet n sour for a reason. A dribble of sauce on the bottom. We asked for more sauce over the chicken to be told you pay for more sauce. NO you provide the sweet and sour part to the chicken please. I’m not paying extra for something that should come as a dish. This happens every time and every time I ask the same thing. Provide more sauce in the dish.

Amazing value for money. £22(ish) each and you can eat as much as you like!! Quality was decent. Starters 9/10 and mains 7/10 in my opinion. Will definitely be back again.

Haven't been in here for a while, and my fiancee hadn't been in before, so thought we would go in for a meal whilst in the area. The food was still very nice, apart from the won tons which were just crunchy batter. There was a constant feeling of being rushed because the staff were always keeping an eye on you and taking you straight through the menu as soon as your current course was coming to an end. There is a fine line between being attentive, and rushing you forward. This was very obvious near the end of our meal because even before we had finished, a member of staff, possibly the owner, came over and started to clear the table by taking away the table cloth. This was very rude and uncalled for. She could have waited another 5 or 10 minutes until we left the table as we were left with a blue plastic cloth infront of us whilst finishing off. Once at the till to pay she then had the audacity to ask for a tip. On this occasion, we didn't leave one but may have done had we felt a little more comfortable and less rushed. I'm sure we will go back in the future, but not in a hurry to do so. I know they want to turn tables quickly but please, just leave your customers in peace to enjoy their meal.

One of the worst meals I have had. Beef chop suey was inedible special fried rice was just boiled rice with a few prawns in a bit of chicken. All seemed to be microwaved and very bland no flavour at all . Will not visit again.

Having eaten here on a handful of occasions I can say this; the food is wonderful, the staff are super friendly and the price is certainly reasonable with all things considered ongoing this day and age. I would highly recommend this restaurant and its all-you-can-eat buffet. By far the best and most authentic Chinese restaurant that I have been to. You will not be disappointed!

A group of 11 went for my Stag night. The food was great but the service appalling. 3 times by 3 different members of staff we were asked if we wanted more starters when we hadn't even received all of the first order. It took an hour and a half before all the first round of starters was brought to the table. Some of the 2nd and 3rd rounds of starters had come to the table before these 1st orders. All we kept getting told was "we are very busy" Sorry but you knew you were getting a large group as I'd booked earlier in the week and paid £70 deposit. You should have planned your staff better and had dedicated serving staff for our group. I have eaten with you on many many occasions and never had this problem before. Thankfully the night was not ruined by this as at least the company was good.

Being new to the area this had become our local for a take away (we've never eaten in here), although it has to be said the quality of food has definitely dipped lately unfortunately. 2 stars is based on our last two orders and we now go elsewhere, certainly for the time being.

Amazing take away Chinese. I know it doesn’t look special from the outside but the food was probably one of the best Chinese experiences I have ever had. I was staying at the caravan and camping site nearby to which they delivered no problem. Definitely worth trying!

The service was quick and it was reasonably priced. The meal itself was okay; the lemon chicken needed a little more sauce and the special chow mien was I thought a little short on taste. The egg fried rice was excellent.

The worst chinese restaurant i have ever been to. Not because of the food but because the service was horrible. The staff were not welcoming and were very rude specially the lady who served us, i forgot to ask her name. We were rushed from the moment we sad down. Never returning to this horrible place again

Buffet lunch for a friends 40th. I felt hurried to order and at one time while still eating, I had two rear ends pointing at me while they cleared the table. Won't go again....

Went to our daughters, and ordered some food. Spare ribs, Special fried rice, Curry sauce, Sweet & Sour chicken balls x2, Chips, Fried mixed vegetables, Pancake rolls, Plain Chow Mein x2, and complementary Prawn crackers. It certainly hit the spot as a takeaway meal Everyone enjoyed lovely meal. Would certainly recommend the Oriental Palace to eat in or take out.

Good range of food and speedy service though I did leave thinking that was a quick dinner. I like my dinners out to be an experience, such as offering chopsticks, I didn't ask though but the offer would have been good. Offer some form of oriental beverage maybe.

Was made to feal verry rushed from the moment we sat down to the moment we left. Only just started eating and kept getting asked do we want more dishes. Burnt bits of fried rice could taste the salt in another dish. Only just finished our drinks as soon as the empty glass went down was asked if we finished with drinks and the table cloth was removed. Gave us the fealing we were not welcome in the restaurant

Food is superb and the best Chineese we've ever had. Ideal for families , parties, business or romantic meetings. We couldn't eat everything we've ordered and unfortunately their policy not allowed to take our own food home in boxes. But apart from that, the whole experience is absolutely amazing. You'll definitely dont leave hungry!

Fantastic food as always, But i'm sure there must be new owners as the service was dismal, Not enough staff . There was 4 of us and are starters came out very quick however when we ordered are mains, The food was brought out in dribs and drabs. one of us didn't get there rice another didn't get there main. I told the waitress we were still waiting on some of the food, but they still didn't bring it out... Again I asked a waiter this time what had happened to our food eventually the main dish came for are friend but his rice to go with it was stone cold and we had all finished ours and the other person ate her main without the rice and as that never appeared. when we finished I complained to a lady on the till and was rudely told but you did get your main so you can't complain, no sorry or apology given to us, I said we wanted some money off the £120 bill as it spoiled our evening out... she was rude to me and eventually gave us £6 off the bill. We have always loved eating here but not sure I want to go back after this experience even though the food was fantastic....☹️such a shame and i'm sure we weren't the only people to complain ️😡😡

This is a bit of an odd one, obviously well liked as the car park was heaving and restaurant very busy. I would say food was better than average, and warrants better stars, a little heavy on the garlic in some dishes, had to ask for a couple of dishes that didn't arrive the first time of asking. Now the low stars is because of the service! Not welcoming, shouted at and barged through to get to plates, certainly wouldn't mess with the staff, at the end the lazy Susan was grabbed off the crowded table and table cloth removed leaving us leaning on a bit of tarpaulin, then asked if we wanted desserts? All a bit odd, as it was a work do we all laughed it off, I wouldn't have been at all happy if a family celebration 🤔 Won't be returning.

The food is great. Very busy restaurant. They need more staff as the waiters/waitresses could not keep up. Some of our meal did not arrive to the table, my friend was left waiting with a bowl of rice which went stone cold before he got the rest of his meal and they didn't think to bring fresh rice and we had all finished our meal before he could even start his. No apologies from the manageress, she was in fact a bit rude. The staff seemed very stressed. I hope they can sort this issue out and return to being a great venue but at the moment the service does not reflect the price of dining there.

Had the all you can eat,(£21 per head) food was good and served hot, service was ok. Lunch stopped at 2pm and not 2.30 as per website so we felt a bit rushed but would visit again.

Went here a couple of years ago and it was pretty good but has gone downhill since, as I and my family discovered on Saturday. Grossly overpriced at £23 per head, particularly as there is also the proviso that if you leave anything then you will be charge full price for each item you leave. Portions were small and not the best Chinese food I have ever had by any stretch of the imagination. The service was not particularly wonderful and this was probably down to the fact that the place was very overcrowded, so much so that it was very difficult to move between the tables or even adjust our chairs. As part of my meal I asked for mushroom curry and had to ask for it a further three times before I finally got it, by which time most of the party of I was with had all but finished their meals. Far from impressed this time round and we have resolved never to use the place again.

We've used this restaurant in the past as it was always great value and good quality. Not any more ! Food was awful, no flavour at all and everything decribed on the menu was nothing like the actual dish. The only good thing we had was the Singapore noodles. For what they charge it's a total rip off and we certainly won't be going back again. There are plenty of other places that must take more pride in what they serve to their customers than this restaurant.

Because I was on my own they refused to serve me anything from the buffet. The buffet was also advertised at £19 both online and outside the building. However, inside I then saw it’s £21 on a Wednesday. £24 on weekend (again, not what is advertised elsewhere) First time trying to eat here, will be my last and I didn’t even get to sit down. How disappointing just because I was on my own
