Tasteless and bland, dull shop and staff. My advice is to avoid

Ordered Beef & Mushrooms, got home to find it was a tray of rice. Its a shame because I cant eat rice, anyway I gave it to my dog and I went hungry

The food is always excellent, fresh cooked so you may have to wait a bit, but it's worth it. The man at the front of house is always friendly and polite, which is always good to see.

We have used this chinese takeaway every week for 20 years and have always found it great, huge portions and so much better than the other 2 in the town. Tasty food and we will never change.

Not a lot to say about it except the food is excellent the man is very nice that's all you want.

I wasnt actually there but when my family bring back the food it is always really nice. I love the chicken chalmain... idk how you spell it. But i have one moan and sometimes it is REALLY slow. It took like half an hour for us to get our food. But that isnt really anything bad that just means they are so good, they are always busy :)

no flavour to my noodles pancake was just with beansprouts nothing else, soggy not cooked very well ships and chicken got worse as the bag went on, so gonna be hungry tonight and wasted money!

Nice fresh food, great price, great service

Chow mein was basically boiled noodles no flavour what so ever. Chicken balls were undercooked and sweet and sour sauce had too much vinegar. Egg fried was boiled rice with some scrambled egg tossed in it. Won't be using this take away again!

Food was indifferent, staff spoke very little English. Beware they take cash only, no cards.

A very long wait. Couldn't order ahead as no one was answering the phone. Food was OK but wouldn't say it was anything special sadly.

Having read other reviews for this takeaway restaurant I would like to stress the experience and opinions are mine alone, and although I wont go back, I thought the owner might appreciate some constructive criticism .Lets see..... I ordered a takeaway for two and was told it would be ready in 35 minutes, not unreasonable for a Friday night ! Unfortunately when I got to the restaurant there were 8 other people waiting outside in the cold ( minimum numbers in the shop because of Covid). We discussed the situation and discovered we had all been given the same collection time. It took me a further 40 minutes before my food was ready. So Terracotta house point No1 You should be running a restaurant for the convenience of your customers, not your own. Give people a realistic collection time if it's going to take an hour I would rather sit in my own house than outside your shop. When I eventually went to pay for my meal I proffered a debit card. This was met with consternation by mine host. He informed me they only accepted cash. This meant leaving my cooling dinner and walking to a cash machine,( add another 10 minutes to my returning home time). I have checked the menu, and nowhere does it say they don't accept cards! So point No 2 TELL people you only take cash. If you printed it as an amendment sticker, it would give new customers like me a fighting chance of getting home with hot food. I eventually accepted my dinner and drove home to find the lid of my "Hot and Sour" soup had come off, and everything was now awash with rapidly cooling gloopy soup. No3 CHECK your containers are secure before you hand them over. Had this escaped to stain my car we would be talking compensation via the small claims court! My final complaint is the food, not all of it, but the course you advertise as Crispy Aromatic Duck. Under the trades description act I can only give you 50%. It was undeniably duck....so far so good....Aromatic, (massaged with fragrant oils),well maybe, but a long long time ago. It's crispy I take issue with. Crispy implies you should be able to snap some of it, what I took out of the carton had skin like an old surgical glove. We didn't eat it. Advise on this one is tricky, either sack your chef or at least review what you are sending out. I understand most small restaurants rely on repeat trade, hope this helps. Steve

Best Chinese in Downham!! Great value for money & big portions. Ask about ur dietary needs. They use veggie oil for the chips and they will explain to u which dishes contain what ingredients. Can’t fault them :)

We have eaten chinese at terracotta house for years now and I will never go anywhere else, the food is absolutely stunning, I can absolutely say with confidence that I reccomend this place to anyone who loves good quality, extremely tasty takeaways. Hope this place stays open for life 😍

Had a take away, whilst we were away, I can honestly say it was the worst takeaway I have ever had, it was absolutely tasteless, bland and dry, would not use again

Food is just about ok but very expensive. It's a take out only so no one can dine in. The portions are very small too. For the price that they charge for their for items, would not really recommend. They have combo menus but as their portion sizes are small, they wouldn't be enough for the number of people for whom it's supposed to be.

We had friends to stay over the weekend and after a day out locally got the traditional Saturday night takeaway Very friendly and reasonably priced and prompt we ordered too much but a very good Chinese had by all. Highly recommended - do try it!

Food excellent every time service a little bit slow but you happy to wait because the food is always fantastic I would highly recommend this Chinese

Noodles where meant to hot spicy but had no taste or spice at all, crispy beef was soft and sloppy no taste, sweet and sour sauce might as well of been pure vinger, chicken Cantonese was full of Onion and raw quartered tomotoes in vinegar sauce, and to top it off egg fried rice had a black hair in it, oh and charged £1.50 for prawn crackers. #mypantsbeenpulleddown never would I go there again not even if I was a tramp and hadn't eaten for a month. That's no joke 😒

Lovely takeaway owned by a local friendly family. Excellent service. Definitely worth the wait during busy hours. I recommend spring rolls and curry sauce as two of my favourite things in the takeaway!

Been here previously and not enjoyed the food, decided to try again after a couple of years and pleased to say we enjoyed our food.

Great food, just a shame you have to wait quite a long time sometimes for your takeaway to be ready.

this used to be a good place but every time we order over the phone we get them to repeat it back and then when we collect and get back home about 20 minutes drive something is always missing. Last time we all shared so my daughter had a dinner, when we phone up we get told sorry come back and collect it, not good when it happens every time, we now go elsewhere with no problems.

A very good Chinese with fresh ingredients and the vegetables are still crunchy. There is no large volumes of oil and stodge as can be found in other establishments. This is a very good take away and highly recommend.

I phoned at 18.20 and was told i could collect at 19.40. Ive now been waiting in the shop 20 minutes. Still no food. I appreciate they get busy on a Saturday but thats the whole point of ordering ahead first!!!

Mi pareja y ambos tienen curry, el pollo y él me la especial, el curry de gambas siempre son encantadoras y grandes, pollo al curry siempre tiene un montón de pollo. Normalmente nos dan tostadas de gambas, lo que es probablemente uno de los mejores tostadas de gambas que he tenido!

I've tried every Chinese takeaway here in downham and this is by far the best place! Highly recommended! Chicken and mushrooms soup are awesome. Steamed gyozo dumplings amazing and all the black bean and pepper sauces are yummy!

food is ok sometimes better than other times Food not so good if they are really busy sometimes it can be a bit cold and somtimes portions are a bit smaller.

If you want a good chineese take away this is your best bet. We always go to the Tandory for a good chinese meal.

We have been using this takeaway for over 10 years and have always enjoyed the food. Consistantly good in our opinion, never a problem. We have tried all 4 chinese takeaways in Downham but always return here.

We have a Chinese takeaway in the next village, but always drive to Downham to get one from Terracotta House. They are much better value and you get a much bigger portion. Been coming here for years.

Nice food, great staff! basically next door to where I work so convenient too! Food is always lovely, staff are always friendly.

As a takeaway this is excellent food, great price, quick and easy to park. Staff are always polite and never had any trouble with incorrect orders.

What can I say....? The most awful meal I think I ave ever experienced. Threw it all away! It looked terrible, smelt horrid and what I tasted could have been prepared by a toddler.... Do they even have a cook or was this food cooked by the cleaner ( no disrespect to the cleaners out there) ?I will NEVER go again.

Fantastic food really well cooked, however do find that its nearly impossible to phone through an order, and then if you go in to order others jump in front of you, think they need someoene else out front taking orders and answering phones rather than the guy to helps to cook the food.

Overpriced for food that tastes all the same! Even if you phone an order there's a long wait. Disappointing food.

I'm not a big Chinese takeaway fan, I like my chinese food cooked and served authentically. That said if all you want is something chinese and not to have to cook it's adequate.

Not the best chinese take out.. but palitable. However we haven't visited again since a very disappointing take away with friends (meat was grisly and not atal tasty)

Mixed starters pretty good, sweet and sour pork less so. About the same as 90% of chinese takeaways out there I would think.
