Lotus Chinese Takeaway in Wakefield

Lotus was closed recently but when they opened, they serve good food. We had prawn crackers, hot and sour soup did not have wood ear mushrooms, cantonese spring rolls were ok but another chinese close to me is better, mushrooms with beef and egg fried rice. Very nice gentleman on reception, quick service. Highly recommended.

Honestly its easily the best Chinese in Wakefield. we did justeat from them and it came to us so hot we couldn't touch the containers. Food was full of flavour and freshness despite what others say. BUY IT

First time ordered will not use again, had a beef black bean sauce beef was tough and peppers were over cooked. Asked for gravy for my fussy son (all he will have is chips and gravy ) it wasn’t even gravy all I can describe it as is possibly gravy with sweet sour sauce in. Ordered a special chop suey, chicken tough hardly any prawns in a thick like gravy sauce. Shame I thought it was going to be like the restaurant in Wakefield that was there for many years and lovely. So disappointed will not use again.

Don't even waste your money and time on this please The food is so bland. It's embarrassing how bad.it is.

Sweet&sour chicken came as fried chicken balls and sauce seperately. Egg fried rice had no taste to it at all and I could barely see that it was fried with egg. Beef szechuan sauce ok-ish, but beef was hard and chewy. Very bad meal - supermarkets frozen isle chinese meals are 100 times better.

Very poor. Food bland and nothing special. Far better chinese takeaway in the area.

Wish I had read reviews before going. Haven't been for years but food previously OK and it was the only Chinese open on a Tuesday. Food was disgusting and a massive rip off in terms of having barely any meat in it. Such meat as was in the dishes wasn't obviously recognisable as the advertised duck and chicken. Asked for no peppers but still got them and found a random prawn in the dish which makes it risky if you have specific dietary requirements.

Hands down the worst Chinese I've ever been to. Crispy chilli beef is not even crispy, just caked in a weird sweet chilli sauce which is so underwhelming and lacking of heat. The salt and pepper chips are disappointing, hardly seasoned, hardly any vegetables just undercooked chips with a light seasoning (not salt and pepper chips). The chicken sweetcorn soup is like a sweet wallpaper paste which is nothing like what it's supposed to be. Girlfriend ordered salt and pepper chicken, had to reheat it in the air fryer 5 minutes after it arrived, nothing fried about it. Would put money on it being cooked by chef Mike-rowave. Only good thing out of the whole thing is the 90p can of coke. The whole thing is a complete waste of money, find a better Chinese because this isn't the one for anyone unless you have no taste buds.

Ordered for first time, don't normally eat Chinese as I have always had bad experiences with it but fancied one for a change. Wasn't disappointed at all ordered salt and Pepper chicken, chicken chow main, noodles with bean sprouts, s&p chips. Was absolutely banging mush everything tasted so fresh. Arrived quickly was steaming hot. Will defo be ordering again. Thankyou so much best takeaway iv ever had!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

What a mistake!! I feel shocking and just want to sleep so I ordered a delivery takeaway through just eat. I chose Lotus Chinese in Wakefield as they used to be brilliant when they were on cross roads in town. OMG!! Worse mistake of my life. (Slight exaggeration, but it was no where near my best choices in life). The food was flat cold. The BBQ spare ribs were shrivelled up and rock hard, the won tons had no filling in them - I mean they made flat stanley appear inflated, the special fried rice was dark brown and hardly any “special” in it- about one prawn and the rest was rice, My son couldn’t eat the prawn toast and the BBQ sauce could have been anything as it was super gluey with absolutely no taste in it what so ever, it really could have been runny snot that has colouring added. Shocking food by Lotus (Wakefield), a waste of money, kids still hungry and I’m too poorly/tired to do anything. The total boiling point was when I called to complain - yes, it was that bad that I actually took the time to call them and gave them an opportunity to correct this. I did call the Lotus to complain and the lady said there’s nothing wrong with their food as they check every meal before it leaves - I hate to call her a liar but ....... the evidence says otherwise. With every itemised complaint, she dismissed it- said that is how they cook it and that their food is tasty. So basically disregarding me, my thoughts and feeling and argumentative. I told the lady that I appreciate she thinks her food is good but I don’t and that’s as she wasn’t taking my complaint seriously, I wouldn’t waste anymore of her time. AVOID THE LOTUS IN WAKEFIELD IF YOU WOULD LIKE A DECENT MEAL!! Quality is everything and I’d sooner pay more and have decent food. I will never go here again.

Waiting hours for the food and in the end didn’t deliver it

After waiting 1.5hrs for delivery (told it would be an hour) food arrived completely cold, called for a refund straight away and was told had to return the food untouched. The driver can’t of left our estate when we called yet Took another 50 mins before the refund arrived. Delivery driver was very polite but same couldn’t be said for the person on the end of the phone. Wont be ordering again from here.

Food was very poor quality.... the Cantonese sauce was like jelly our noodles were burnt and the salt and pepper chicken was to over powered with salt the only thing nice about the meal was the spring rolls very disappointing I know it will be busy because it easter weekend but it still shouldn't be a excuse for the quality of food we got delivered.

Probably the best Chinese in Wakefield, just wished they cooked General Tso's Chicken.

Very disappointed. Overpriced and the worst Chinese my family has ever eaten. Shop dirty, and to quote the below review, the food 'tastes wrong'. The 'beef' chow mein is NOT beef, and smelt repulsive. Both salt and pepper chips weren't even salt and peppered…? Threw it straight in the bin. Avoid.

Horrible. Food tastes wrong. Very poor quality food. Even worse, I am suffering from a very upset stomach the day after eating chicken.
