Lotus Chinese Take Away in Newcastle upon Tyne

Just had meal from here. Half of our order was missing we realised this when we got home. Telephoned to inform them to be told “please check your meal before you leave” no apology just an implication that their messing up the order was our fault! What are we supposed to do open every packet? Nether the less we decided to eat the part of our order which was provided, this was very disappointing and far below the previous standards provided by this takeaway. I don’t know if it has changed hands recently but I certainly won’t be ordering food from here again and would urge others to seriously think twice before placing an order here.

This is the best Chinese in the area, highly recommended. Very speedy service and good food

Tried here for the first time last week, food was so tasty , perfect portion sizes and was ready really fast and good price, will definitely be returning, the salt and pepper chicken and sweet and sour chicken was amazing

Enjoyed our takeaway at the weekend. Have used before and will go again, no doubt. The house special satay had a few too many onions in for me, but no complaints with the special fried rice, prawn crackers, chips and curry sauce

I have been going for years and it's as good as you will get in my opinion.

Takeaway was nice and clean, ordered food and it was ready within a few minutes, probably to quickly as although the food was tasty it hadn't been fully heated and only lukewarm.

Tasty food, salt and spicy chips were best ive had. Slightly lacking in quantity but quality was there.

Been eating here since I was 9, I’m now 23. Yes, it’s that good. I’ve even moved out the area and I make my boyfriend drive from North Shields to Westerhope to get me this. Again.. yes it’s that good 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤

Excellent Chinese takeaway. Delicious food, friendly staff, and good Covid practice. One of the few Chinese takeaways that accept contactless payment. Had a small problem a few weeks back with the curry which was a bit watery, but a polite word with the owner and the problem was resolved satisfactorily and the food has been of its usual high standard since then.

Food tonight was awful chicken & mushroom curry was like water, prawn crackers were burnt and hard will definitely not be ordering from here agian

Salt and chilli box for £8.50 plus a choice of sauce is amazing! Great chinese

Last one was just awful. My order - Shredded chicken and Cantonese sauce Salt and pepper chilli chicken Chicken chow mein Told no chicken, so couldn't have the shredded chicken but they would give me beef - sorry like that wasn't beef. It was too sweet and if truth be told it was vile. The chowmein had like 5 bits of chicken in it. The only thing that was nice was the salt and pepper chicken.

First time we have used Lotus, excellent menu and food, great service ,large portions, will definitely be going back, one of the best around. Thankyou to all Staff. Especially lady who took take away order.

All ways fab food used this takeaway for years never had a bad meal

Lotus is a fantastic oriental take away. The staff are always polite and very friendly. I only come here for take out rarely but each time the meals are excellent. If you don't like something or need a dish without MSG they will cater for you as much as possible. My kids love their food from here too. You can phone in your order and collect within 20 minutes or just order at the counter and your dishes will be ready sooner.. All dishes are prepared freshly to order. Highly recommended little gem

Good food, we've used this place twice, both times food was delicious. We had lemon chicken, special chow mein, curry sauce and prawn crackers. We Phoned the order in and was told 15 mins, i went straight up (2min drive) and food was ready after a couple of minutes wait. The staff are friendly and polite, I would use this regularly if I lived in the area.

Staff are great, recognise familiar faces. Happy to cater to needs if you would like to change an order slightly. One of the rare take aways that do seaweed, which is always a positive. They don't have a card machine however, do you need to pay by cash, not always convenient. Always clean and tidy and smells clean.

Not for me! Order taken efficiently over the phone, and ready for collection 20 min later. Meal was ready on arrival and shop busy, - so all good signs. House special Chow mein was topped with nice looking pork, and had chicken, prawn etc too, but the noodles were hard, and tasted of nothing. We also asked for a chicken dish that had a bit of honey & spice, But was NOT sweet n sour. The suggested 'chilli garlic chicken' was a really full tub of yuk! - we had to wash the sauce off (which tasted of sweet n sour plus chilli) and even then it was inedible. on the plus side, - the plain rice and prawn crackers were reasonable. In summary, - it seemed a popular Chinese, but we won't ever go back. First Chinese ever were we had left overs of all 4 dishes, - and even the hens wouldn't eat the noodles.

I used to live nearby and The Lotus was a regular haunt of mine. If it had a delivery service (Does it yet?),I would be back there in a shot. Best Chinese takeaway in the area.

Chicken curry was salty other than that can't fault it

Was far better before it changed hands/management-it appears to be ran by students or the younger generation now. Still pretty good, but not the step apart it used to be
