Came here for dinner last week and had the best experience! Fantastic service, value, and food was so yum! Coming from someone that used to work in a Mexican restaurant too 😉 tacos were packed with meat, and had a really decent plate of nachos as an appetiser. Casper served us and was really friendly and checked a couple times if we were enjoying everything. Don’t have any photos because our phones had died after a full day trip, but we will be back next time we come to Rye!

We ate here three times in a four day stay. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. Service is good. They have a lot of choice of different dishes so there is something for everyone.

Probably a fun place in the evening for a few drinks and some sober up food, but no authenticity in this restaurant. The food is not flavoursome, nor are the dishes authentic. Microwave rice? Spicy beef with no heat? Come on guys up the game and become an authentic Mexican restaurant with amazing food that recreates dishes in Mexico. Ditch the cheesy theme restaurant, packet rice and Microwave. On the plus side, staff friendly.

Had a birthday. Was great. Atmosphere very quite warm on a Sunday after 6pm . Was greeted and was told to seat where we like. Which is nice. The service was good it wasn't busy, we had had a lot of attention on us.. shifnif gotten the guys names that's served us. But they done a good job.. Wasnt watching the prices. Spent just under £100. Worth it. Good food

Food on the whole was good, but it arrived 20 minutes late, cold and not what we ordered. Only minor changes (chimichangas rather than burritos so rice and salad on the side rather than inside the tortillas), still disappointed & child really hungry!

This really hit the spot during a long day. If you are from North America, you will appreciate the menu. Lots of bold flavors and great customer service. The Owner was in, and gave my daughter a lollipop. It was a great experience.

Mediocre food and with festive Mexican music in a pleasant enough setting. Margaritas were very disappointing. Second and last visit here. I don’t think they grasp what good Mexican food tastes like.

Good food, good service, reason its a 4 and not a 5 is the sangria was brought out with no fruit and not great taste either. The chicken burritos were smaller than expected. The veggie tacos needed a bit more flavour. The Alabama chocolate cake was full of jam, was not expected, not a pleasant surprise. The toilet was dirty.

We love the JD Ribs so much for the size, price and portion sides. We eat out lots but never feel as satisfied with the value as we do here. Great cocktails, great staff and great selection of hats!! We strongly recommend 😊

Had high hopes for this Mexican as it was quite busy and we had to book. Staff were friendly but seemed unorganised. Lots of staff around the entrance where the computer is which can be quite off putting as some didn’t know how to use it so lots of conversations about people’s bills near your table. Took around 20 mins for them to take our order, of which the starters never arrived. Again staff were polite and very apologetic and took the starters off the bill. Mains arrived around 50 mins which were good, not amazing but decent. Unfortunately the cocktails (Long Island ice tea) were too strong and not mixed properly so we didn’t drink them.

Soggy chips . Not enough nuggets on children’s meal for that price .

We popped in here to grab a quick bite after arriving relatively late into Rye on a Thursday evening. Place is inoffensive and perfectly nice. Table was a bit sticky and hadn't been wiped down. Service was fine. The distinctly average nature of the initial experience made us worry about the food. But we needn't have worried. We got the nachos, tacos and a burrito, and it was all very nice. The chicken burrito in particular (over the ground beef) was tender and tasty in a fresh, "stretchy" burrito wrap. 👍🏼 No beer on tap, bottles only.

Fantastic service from staff, very welcoming, great sense of humour, glad we popped in. Dog friendly too!

We popped in for a light dinner and it was a lovely restaurant. Great atmosphere.

Me and my husband ate here last night and the food was lovely, we shared nachos to start and then my husband had steak fajitas which he said was delicious and I had chimichanga which again was really nice. We love a Mexican so look forward to coming again to try more of the menu.

Sad to see shay had left. Third time going in last night with high hopes that shay would be there to learn he'd left. Nachos had lack of cheese and the sizzling beef wasn't sizzling and came out well done when I'd asked for medium and the salad and chips were late coming out. We were rushed to finish our starters and were offered our main course when 1 out of 4 were still eating. The only person that was fantastic at their job and went above and beyond was hamza...it would be a shame to loose another good member of staff!! We weren't offered desserts and the restaurant was in darkness by 10:30pm on a Saturday night.

Absolutely shocking behaviour when it came to delivery time. I want a refund ASAP. Food was okay if it wasn’t ice cold then maybe would’ve been more edible. Very disappointing!!!

The food was very good, but the Citizen that we ordered to take away and unpacked at home was not only burnt inside and out, but charred!!! Inedible. We had to throw it away!! Impudence!

What a great place to eat, food was great value (Ribs were👌) and top quality. It was my daughters 13th birthday 🎂, they surprised her with a fruit mocktail with candle and sung and clapped happy birthday. Service was great, would highly recommend will be returning.

Great food with lots of flavour, a good selection of drinks with and without alcohol. Dog friendly as well.

For the price of a burrito I would expect them to at least put it together for me. I ordered a few for take away, was given boxes of all of the elements of a burrito but not actually put together. What is the reason for this? By the time I have it home I have to now build it myself?? Surely for such a high price this is your job??

Great service - staff were very accommodating to my children’s fussy needs! Really enjoyed the food too, especially the tortilla chips.

the ribs, I ordered the slightly more expensive ones due to wanting a nicer sauce. There was barely any sauce on them and they were not restaurant quality at all, aldis ribs are much nicer! A handful of chips were given not fries, super overpriced for what we got! Would never even consider ordering from here again, wouldn't mind paying such extortion if the ribs were actually nice! I happily pay that in TGI for example. AVOID and go somewhere cheaper

Staff are nice but the food was awful. Ordered lots of starters including the sharing platter. It was cold and greasy to the touch. Ribs were stone cold. Mushrooms and salad had what looked like beard hairs in. The potato skins with chilli con carne were dry and had obviously been cooked days ago. The salad was limp and everything was covered in a sauce to disguise it! The salt and pepper squid tasted of nothing and looked that brown that they hadn’t even bothered to check that it looked over done. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a worse place! I had my daughter with me who hardly touched it. Due to the amount of faults we just wanted to pay and leave. Won’t ever go back.

An absolutely fantastic restaurant, the service was excellent, the food was delicious and the cocktails were generous and flavorful. I particularly recommend the Maya Chicken!

the lad that served us was polite enough but the man I assume was the manager in the waistcoat was sullenand the the kitchen staff were so rude I asked if tacos were gluten free he shouted and waved his arms around snd said he didn't know to the pour serverwho looked very embarrassed we had already paid so obviously didn't think it mattered .miserable staff .

Popped in at lunchtime with my son for some nachos and some wings. The portion of nachos with a spicy beef topping was very generous and good value at only £7.95. my son had the chicken version which again was very good. There was authentic Mexican music playing, not my thing really but I guess it's relevant. There are some themed posters on the walls and the decor is bright and cheery. Our waitress was friendly and had a little chat with us. All the usual Mexican fayre is on the menu and there are cocktails, tequila etc etc on the drinks menu. Our two portions of nachos, portion of wings and two soft drinks came to £30 which I thought a fair price for lunch.

come here for my birthday, and would never of taken the time to write a review if it wasn’t worth it, the two ladies where amazing, food was excellent, but the bar staff “cemal” was incredible made the whole experience 100x better had us in stitches, made sure food was all okay and lastly was dancing round the place like it was his birthday not mine, highly recommend to anyone

Lovely place in Rye for Mexican food. Kalamari rings is a must try. Drinks were nice as well. Great customer service ! Would be a 5 star if the seating was bit more spacious. But considering it's location I guess thts the best possible.

My order was forgotten, as the staff were all outside chatting. They made it in a rush and I wish I had cancelled my order as it was not worth it at all. I ordered chicken fajitas and everything was reheated tasting and really poor quality, possibly the most rubbery chicken I have ever had. I would not recommend eating here at all.

We were in Rye for a few hours and wanted to have lunch. There were few options we liked, however we ended up having Mexican. Not what you expect to have on a trip to Rye but it ended up being the right choice. The food was good and the portions were perfect (flavourful and fresh). Friendly staff. the best plus point was that they are a dog-friendly location.

Great restaurant, spent a Saturday evening in there while we were visiting rye for the weekend, we had the chicken fajita, it was delicious, washed down with a few coronas. Good service and atmosphere.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines a burrito as “a Mexican dish consisting of a tortilla rolled around a savory filling, typically minced beef or beans,” with an emphasis on being rolled. So when my daughter chose this restaurant and ordered a burrito, we initially questioned why we received a loosely and sparsely folded parcel with cheese on top, partially hidden by rice and salad. The staff were adamant; despite showing them a picture of a burrito (similar to the one on their website), they insisted that this was indeed a burrito and nothing would convince them otherwise. My daughter persisted until she reached the base, which, due to significantly less filling than expected, being folded instead of rolled, and being baked, resulted in it being rock solid and inedible. I then gave my daughter the remainder of my burger (which, for balance, was very good) and returned the dish to an unconcerned waiter. Mistakes happen; it is all about how you deal with them. Therefore, I was surprised to see the returned item still on the bill. When I inquired about this, I was initially told it was because my daughter had consumed the rice and salad along with most of the dish posing as a burrito. I pointed out the plate full of uneaten rice and salad. She then mentioned she wouldn't refund me as she anticipated me leaving a negative review... challenge accepted young lady, challenge accepted…

We were visitors to the town, first time in Rye. Food was lovely and portion sizes huge so make sure you're hungry when you go ! The ribs were fantastic. Drinks expensive though. We would certainly go back.

Food was lukewarm and quite pricey to be honest

The service was very good but all our meals were simply average. The flavours were bland and not really representative of the best in Mexican cuisine. The margaritas were very disappointing. It was also unpleasant being repeatedly asked to put on sombreros for photo opts. Not something any proper Mexican restaurant would do. Lice anyone? And lastly, the name of the restaurant is racist.

Went to this place when it first opened although the food was clearly microwaved it was ok. I decided to have fajitas knowing they would have to cook them freshly. They were disgusting with no flavour. When we first went the staff were bubbly and friendly this time they were inattentive even though they only had 3 tables in use one table had to get up and get its own bill and after watching this and with no drinks or dessert menus for 15 minutes I decided to do the same Will not return

Very underwhelming experience We were the only people in the restaurant when we arrived food was tasteless we both had vegetarian fajitas which had no flavour whatsoever. 2 other couples came in watched one of them get up and get his own bill as he got sick of waiting. I then realised after 15 minutes sitting with no drinks or dessert menu we weren’t going to get one so after interrupting the guy watching videos on his laptop I asked for a bill and left. If it’s like that when it’s quite on a Tuesday night I hate to think what it’s like when it’s busy. Won’t be returning.

Good friendly service. Had nachos, children’s ribs and fajita, wife had salmon salad. Food ok. Ribs could have done with more sauce. Was a bit dry. Cocktails were ok. Have had better. Food slow coming out but only saw one chap on the kitchen. Front of house team very welcoming! Reasonably priced for what we had.

Dreadful takeaway and a waste of £30. The nachos had about a teaspoon of grated cheese and tomato. The chicken wings were pale with a dribble of sauce and the tacos were no much better. Maybe it’s better eating in, but, as a local I certainly won’t ever be trying! So disappointing

This restaurant was terrible. The food came frozen, I asked for different guac and it came frozen again. I complained to the staff and reiterated that the waitress staff were lovely but the food was terrible and the room the food off the bill but the manager never came to talk to us which I thought was strange and I mentioned this to the waitress to explained that they never showed up to work??? Very poor food..

Food was lovely, good portion sizes and fairly priced. A variety of vegetarian options too Service was fairly prompt and no long waiting times, occasionally one dish would come out later than the rest but we were in no rush so not a big problem for us. The staff were very attentive and very pleasant and there was a nice busy atmosphere throughout the evening. We will be back, thank you!

Fantastic girls night out with my friend Hannah. We were greated by a lovely waitress who was very attentive throughout our meal. Great menu, including vegetarian/dietary need options, child portions. First class service, Friendly ambiance , fantastic for families too. At the end of our night, the manager Andrea, came and chatted with us which made our evening even more special. Highly rated and recommended.

Had a takeaway tonight and it was by far the worst we've had. For the price the food was soggy, bland and just awful. The starter (mushrooms) we had 4 mushrooms! It's all massively over priced.

Although the meal was late, according to the estimated time, it wasn’t a problem and we enjoyed our meal.

Friendly staff and ok service but food was not fresh and clearly microwaved. The tacos were hidden in a forest of salad on the plate. No flavour. Shame as this location in central Rye should be a mainstay culinary establishment in theory.

We went for dinner and drinks. We were greeted by Tracy who was very attentive, warm and lovely. Anything we needed she was on hand with a smile. We had a lovely night and strolled home merrily after. Would highly recommend been here a few times now and really enjoy it.

Wonderful atmosphere, superb food and fantastic friendly staff. We were staying in Rye for a 7 night holiday and the food was so good here, we enjoyed 3 of our evening meals here. Wonderful ambience, food is cooked fresh, arrives quickly and tastes absolutely superb. Atmosphere is wonderful and the staff are amazing. Special mention to 'Che' who looked after us all so well, whether it was just the 2 of us eating or a group of us booked for a meal, the service was amazing. Loved the Nachos, Enchiladas, the Grilled Sirloin Steak and especially the cocktails, namely the 'Santa Maria'. Thank you not only to 'Che' but all the amazing friendly staff who work there. We will be back over in 2025 and will definitely be staying in Rye again and looking forward to seeing you and enjoying more of your wonderful hospitality and of course, another 'Santa Maria' cocktail again! This is a fabulous place to eat and drink, if you decide to book for a meal, you will not be disappointed! Highly recommend.

We love Mexican food so thought we’d give it a try… Ambience and staff great but food a little underwhelming. Sharing platter to start was good but the mains were like an Old El Paso meal we could cook ourselves at home. Microwave rice and supermarket guacamole and salsa, very easy things to make fresh and taste so much better!

A great find in Rye. We were away for the weekend celebrating my husband's birthday and visited Rye. We went into this restaurant for lunch and everyone enjoyed their meals. The serving staff were very friendly and provided hats for our group photo. We all had different main courses which included enchiladas, burritos, piri-piri skewers, chicken burger and fresh tuna steaks. Everyone declared their food was delicious. A pitcher of sangria was very good as well! We would definitely recommend this restaurant and would visit again if in the area.

Missing chips and mango dip but food amazing

Speedy service done with a smile on Rye's busiest night of the year? Yes they Mexi-CAN. Finding a spot for food in Rye on bonfire night is always a challenge, but this place ticked all the boxes! We were welcomed in and seated straight away by the friendly owner. The food arrived quickly - we ordered a burrito and enchiladas. The portion sizes were generous and the food packed all the flavours you'd want from Mexican classics like these. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout. And to seal the deal? The bill was reasonable too! If you're in the mood for Mexican, you can't go wrong here.

This is by far the worst restaurant in Rye. Tasteless, soggy, unevenly microwaved food. It’s quite a feat to do Mexican this badly. Ambience might be okay if you just wanted drinks, but for food, go literally anywhere else in town.

A super Mexican themed restaurant in the heart of Rye is a great place to grab a meal and a drink. The friendly staff, excellent menu and fun atmosphere make this stand out in a town full of restaurants and cafés. Surprisingly the prices are very reasonable given the delicious food and generous portion sizes. It's well worth a visit if you fancy something out of the ordinary.

Lovely place only a short walk from Saltcote Place and enjoyed by many of our Guests. After a lovely meal your best placed to pop into the Grapevine for an excellent evening of Jazz and great wines.

Food was no where near the value for the money this time, the ribs may as well been non existent as wasn’t even half a rack there when I ordered a rack of jd bbq ribs and they were cold, normally 3 times the amount of meat when we get this compared to tonight’s, wasn’t at all happy with tonight’s sorry lads but normally a lot better than that, was disappointing
