Went for a pint here today, won’t be going again. 5:15pm on a Tuesday afternoon and the bar tender (landlord?) was absolutely hammered drunk and off his face. Smashing glasses behind the bar trying to poor us a drink. Spitting in glasses left on the bar. Absolutely rude and disrespectful to me and my wife who had only popped in for a quick pint after work. The bartender was honestly lucky he didn’t have a pool queue wrapped around his head. Would not recommend a visit at all.

Rough pub. Had shifty looking people all hanging around the front of it. Made me and my friends really uneasy. One of my mates were offered drugs from one of the men who were hanging around the entrance whilst in the toilet. He refused and we quickly left. We won’t be returning.

Having had wonderful food here last year, we stopped for lunch today. The board outside advertised food on a Saturday. It also said that the pub was under new management. We walked in. The barman said hello and that was the last we saw of him. We sat down, expecting someone to bring us a menu etc. After 10 mins, we went up to the bar and asked for the menu. The barman said that they were not serving lunches today!! We promptly left and had a delicious lunch elsewhere. Why advertise that they were serving lunch on the board outside if they weren’t? The menu placed outside appeared very nice.

My wife and myself decided to visit the lord Nelson after seeing some facebook notifications and when we telephoned to book a table , they advised us just to turn up. The property is sited close to the road and the sea and this has affected the outside appearence of the property but when we entered we were pleasently surprised with the layout and the decor. We booked the meal and the servers were two young ladies and a young man the meal arrived and there was 7 different veg to accompany the potatoes, roasties, yorkshire pudding and a bounty of Beef. The meal was hot well cooked and as the barmaid said all local veg. The only point I could complain about was the eagerness of the young staff to remove empty plates rather suddendly I feel with time this will improve... Well worth visit and the beers good as well, a plus point is that there is a car park accress the road.

I come to eat here now and again, and it has always been good. My mother also comes here with a group of friends, probably about once or twice a month and each time has always had excellent food, service and the owner is often very entertaining as well. I will also like to pass my compliments to the chef Andy, for his good food.

A wonderful welcome, the tastiest Sunday lunch ever. Great value for money. I had roast turkey, mash, roastie, yorkshire pudding, peas, cabbage, cauli, broccoli and carrots with lashings of delicious gravy. It seems very popular with the locals. I think it would be advisable to book because it was pretty full

My g/f and I stumbled upon this pub a few months ago. We were looking for somewhere to have Sunday lunch. There was a sign outside saying it was £6.99 so we parked in the free public carpark opposite and went in to eat. It was one of the best roast dinners I've had. My g/f said the same. We had let it slip from our minds but then a couple of weeks ago we called in again. Once again it was a fantastic meal. It is a "locals" pub but don't let that put you off. The portions are massive and the staff are extremely friendly. 10/10

Last minute meal, very good service, and the starter was delicious!!! The cajun chicken was very powdery, the spices hadn't been mixed properly. Could not manage to eat it. My partners meal wasn't all that either.

Started going to the Lord Nelson for Sunday lunch a few months ago and have continued to do so ever since. I am a veggie so have a lovely nut roast; they normally offer a choice of 3 different meats or you can have a mix of each. My hubby loves the beef. This is served with mash, roasties & Yorkshire pud with gravy. There is a generous dish of veg and extra gravy served alongside. Excellent home cooked food with great service.

Fantastic Sunday lunch to be had,( just like mother used to make). Been here a few times now on Sundays and can't fault it. Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Need to try the food in the week to see if it's as good, but can't wait to call again for the Sunday lunch. At £5.99 for 1 course and £10.00 for 3 courses an absolute bargain.

1 course £5,99 , 3 course £10.00 .

Ate here this lunch time. Even though I'm local-ish I have never been in in my life. We were greeted warmly by the landlady. Ordered the mixed grill, which was a snip at £12.50, and really good.

There's nothing obviously wrong with this pub (floor and tables are a hit sticky) with a pleasant welcome and location. We had simple sausage and onion baguettes with chips and a small side-salad. For just over four pounds it represented good value-for-money for very average quality food. Main courses may well offer better food.yy

After my Mum had been to The Lord Nelson with my Dad and given her opinion on the food and atmosphere I decided to take my girlfriend there for her birthday. Mum had said that the food was real home cooked food nothing fancy and I knew my girlfriend would prefer that to a 5 star restaurant. She ordered the sirloin and I had the stake pie both with chips. My girlfriend is particularly fussy about her stake. It must be well done, no pink at all and I believe chefs hate this because the stake doesn't look very attractive when its cooked like this. In many places we have had to send the stake back but not here. It was cooked to perfection and it was truly delicious, I had a piece and can a test to that! What was a wonderful surprise was not only does this pub claim to use a local bucher they advertise on the menu exactly which butcher the meat is from and my Johnny 6 steak pie was yummy! The chips were home cooked not frozen crap which was an even bigger suprise. I ate as much as I could till I was bursting at the seams! To drink I had a bitter top to start. The bitter was a bit flat in my opinion and I am a regular bitter drinker. My girlfriend had a britvic fifty five apple. During our meal I ordered us more drinks, I asked for a diet coke and another britvic for my girlfriend. I wasn't told that the coke was actually pepsi so received a diet pepsi where had I been told I would have ordered a regular pepsi so beware of that if your tastes are like mine. They also took a while bringing the drinks over after I'd gone to the bar to order them even though it wasn't busy. My only real complaint was the music. We were sitting beneath the speaker and it was really loud and disrupted our conversation. When we wanted to pay I had to remind the lady what we had ordered as she hadn't written any of our food or drink down. We were only there about an hour. It was quiet for a Thursday night before Christmas and we were served quickly and our food came promptly. They did accidentally put potato with the steak instead of chips so we had to have the food go back but this was because the other person who ordered steak on another table ordered with potato. If thwy wrote the orders down then this wouldn't have happened. I would definitely recommend this place for a lovely home cooked meal. Only £24 for 2 meals and 4 drinks. You cant go wrong!

Meifod Country House is perfectly positioned for Caernarfon, Anglesey, the mountains and the coast. It’s a lovely old building, extremely comfortable and the staff are delightful. The house is decorated to a high standard and the antique furniture is beautiful. Tripadvisor needs updating as there is no restaurant at Meifod House. The only food available is breakfast - standard help yourself continental and what looked like well cooked hot breakfast if requested (we didn’t have cooked breakfast). We only saw and met two staff during our stay, both of whom looked after us very well - nothing was too much trouble. Our bedroom (Brymer), overlooks the field to the side of the property. The bed is enormous and very comfortable. The bathroom is huge, with a double ended bath and shower attachment attached to the taps (no actual shower). Good big towels, high quality bed linen, and a fridge in the room. When we return to the area we will stay here again. I recommend it highly.

Stopped for breakfast in the cafe, it was lovely. The small breakfast is big enough for most! Cafe clean, staff friendly and importantly the toilets were very clean. Highly recommended 👍

Had a coupla beers here, they dragged the large bean bags out for us. There was just the 2, I felt very privileged 🫅 Everyone was walking past greedily eyeing them up, before they took to their hard chair 🤭 I was so disappointed when it began to rain & we had to give them up. This place is one of my fave’s. I’d only popped back to get some of their lovely food but we couldn’t sit on the benches with the rain. We returned a few weeks later but they’d closed until spring. I can wait.

What a great spot! We had a great visit to this secluded pub on the beach. There are two places you can park, at the Golf Club car park with a cost of around five pounds through an app, from here you walk over the golf course on the path/road to the pub. Or, you can park further down on the National Trust car park and walk along the beach to the pub. We parked at the golf club, walked over the golf course and then walked back along the beach and back up to the golf car park. The beach walk is great. There was a DJ on when we went and that gave it a good atmosphere outside we did not sit inside as the weather was OK. Food was available although we did not order anything. Friendly staff who served at the outside bar. Be careful of the closing times as that can be early if there is not an event on.

Visited this pub while on a solo break away with my dog a couple of weeks ago and it was a fantastic atmosphere, great service, lovely food and I have to give the highest praise to the lady (who I think was a manager or supervisor) (gutted I didn’t catch her name) but she was so friendly and welcoming, she made a fuss of my dog even giving her some doggie treats which went down (a treat) 😆would definitely recommend this place and will be sure to visit again next time I’m passing!!
