We popped into L'Opera after a meal and a walk and upon entering we were in awe of the opulent decoration. The staff were friendly and despite not having a book (definitely need a booking for evening!) we were seated immediately (but given a time that we would need to be finished - 2 hours was plenty of time!) We had the Arabic coffee and chai, both of which were lovely and hot. We also had the fruit (watermelon and pineapple) and baklawa which were beautifully presented. At no point were we hurried or ignored - in fact, the opposite. We found the staff extremely attentive and will definitely be going back. However, I was more than a little disappointed with the toilets, which were, quite possibly, the worst I've ever been in!

Great ambience really liked the restaurants set up. OK SO I was very happy, the French toast connoisseur gives you your flowers. I have tried both French toasts, the Biscoff was a lot to handle but my French toast teammate told me it was amazing at first but he couldn’t finish it. I had mine and felt exactly the same. scrambled eggs I’ve had a better. Desserts were great.

No repito.

At arrival I waited a while for someone to notice I was waiting to be seated. Our plates were served cold, no staff came to check if we needed anything and if the food was ok. No salt or pepper offered or on the table. The poached eggs were undercooked, I decided to eat the first poached egg because it was somewhat edible and I didn't want to come across as rude, but the egg was not great. However when I started to cut into the second poached egg, it was very undercooked and I could not eat it, the egg white was raw inside, clear and runny. After breaking into the second poached egg, my plate started to smell like raw eggs, this made me feel sick so I told the staff about this and also showed the staff the egg white which was clearly undercooked and runny, the staff was unhelpful and said 'that is how it should be' I then asked if he would eat this to which he responded 'no'. He then took the plate back to the chef, the chef responded by saying that's how the eggs should be. This is disgusting because I was expected to believe the egg white which was clear, runny and clearly raw inside was edible. The chips tasted like they had been sat there for a while and reheated, they didn't taste fresh nor were they warm, I also did not eat this and sent this back. Overall poor quality of food and poor quality of service. I have paid similar or less money for excellent food and service in London before. I won't be coming back or recommending. No care for customer experience. Prices are unjustifiable.

Terrible experience. The place looks beautiful in photos & in person, leads you into thinking it’s a place with high standards but the food & service were terrible. The food was all stale, oily, flavourless & low quality. The service was non existent with staff acting too busy to give you any attention or even talk to you in a friendly manner even though they were not full. We would’ve bought some cakes but the ones in the fridge looked stale & poorly made, & after our meal was so bad we would not want to risk further bad food. This place is all style over zero substance & is clearly trying to be like other famous Instagram cafes who have actual good food & service. Don’t fall for the bloggers giving good reviews because they got a free meal & nice photos with the decor for their feed.

@loperacafe Pistachio & Rose Cake 🍰 Looks stunning though the rose flavour was far stronger than the pistachio. The pistachio texture was a nice touch throughout the cake though could have been smaller as it was quite large. As it was a heavy dessert, it can be shared between 2. Sadly, the cake did not taste fresh and truly tasted like a block cake with no moisture. The cream was overly sweet 😕 Moreover, L’opera has the most inattentive staff I’ve ever seen. Prior to visiting and reading the reviews i asked my self - it can’t be that bad? It was bad. The space isn’t tremendously big by any means but the lack of cohesion from staff was shocking. Having to ask them to bring our desserts after 20 minuites even though it was sitting there on a plate beside the dessert placements & having to constantly remind staff for water was unfortunate. The only thing they were attentive to is when I got the bill (which I had to go to the till for as no one seemed to be wanting to work.... though they all seemed to be chatting away forgetting they’re at work) A good single slice portion, at an expensive price. Pistachio & Rose Cake - £9.50 Overall, I give a 5/10 for the dessert - would not repurchase given how much we paid wasn’t reflected in this below average tasting cake 1/10 for service. This is the worst restaurant I have ever been to in London. The staff are rude, arrogant and disrespectful. There was no urgent desire to serve customers and we had to wait 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. Our drinks then didn’t come until the first meal came, when we complained about this the staff weren’t bothered and had a rude and dismissive attitude. The second meal did not arrive and when we asked again when it was coming we were again met with a rude response. I then proceeded to complain to the manager who argued with me that the service was not bad. Who is he to tell a customer that the service is not bad, he then continued to be rude with the most arrogant attitude I’ve ever experienced. Three tables including my table left the restaurant. If you are reading this review avoid at all costs the service is absolutely disgusting.

Staff were really attentive, drinks were lovely I had a Spanish latte which was lovely and sweet and my friend had a Nutella frappe which was smooth and rich. We then had english muffins the eggs were cooked perfectly and the chilli butter added a nice flavour and twist to this dish. Finished with a cheesecake flow cake which wasn’t really to our taste as it was a bit too cheesy and not very sweet but presentation was lovely.

Went with my mum for a late brunch, I ordered biscoff french toast but asked for biscoff sauce to be served on the side as I had seen pics of it being drowned in the sauce. The french toast was a big portion but had no flavour left most of it behind. My mum got avocado on toast with scrambled eggs, feta, and smoked salmon, which also lacked flavour. We got elderflower and mojito lemonade which were good, I also got a iced Spanish latte that came in a tiny glass and was really bad, my mum got normal latte which she liked. The decor is pretty but overall the food is just really bad would not recommend.

The decor in this place is gooorgeous, with its clean look and plants and greenery aesthetics..a nice change from all the pink florals that seems to have taken over most cafes in London recently. We went for breakfast (without booking) and was seated quickly. We were told that they were fully booked later on and told us we had 2 hours on our table, which was plenty of time tbh and were thanful for notification.. The food came out quite quickly, with excellent staff service. The food portions were good, we got two types of shakshuka, very flavoursome and filling. We also got the french toast which was top notch, would deffo recommend off the breakfast menu. Overall, we had an excellent time there with good food and atmosphere. The location is good, but I was surprised when we entered that it was empty, 2 staff were only present, they were nice, the decoration is ok but , and they were playing nice arabic songs, we ordered arabic coffee, dates, and one red velvet cake piece, the coffee was average, it was brought to us in a thermos, the dates were not of a good quality and the cake was not impressive at all, and ended up paying a £51 !!

Came here by chance, after we drove past and saw a particular cake advertised in the window. We quickly found a parking space and walked back. We need not have bothered. Although advertised as 'Lotus Cake' it contained no Lotus paste or anything like that, instead apparently the Cake is named after the 'Lotus' Biscuit that they put on top of the Cake. There were 4 or 5 young waitresses behind the counter, too bad none of them could explain what was in the Cake. We then decided to have some other cake and it took 3 of the Waitresses quite some time to figure out how to assemble the cardboard boxes, designed to easily fold up for takeaways. It looked as if they had to do this for the first time. To top it up, I then was being presented with a hefty bill. Nice décor, but highly overpriced and inexperienced waiting staff, although I must say that they were friendly and tried their best. They just did not succeed.

I don't take issue with the food (3/5) just the prices and the service which is simply not on par with what you expect considering the location and what they charge.I think they've come to rely on a steady stream of wealthy middle eastern clients who think location and decor are what matter. The staff at the smaller branch were quite nice to be fair.As a seasoned Londer i can sense these things. They have a target clientele and others fall by the wayside.Their events bookings were frankly all over the place and didn't seem to have fixed prices so we cancelled. This place could be great if they just took the effort to LISTEN to the reviews, reduce prices and show professionalism with ALL clients not just the ones they deem naive and wealthy.

I had walked past here a few times and assumed the posh looking L'Opera was a Mediterranian restaurant and as we were staying in a nearby hotel we walked around the corner for dinner. It was raining and we did not want to go far. It was cold inside this fairly large restaurant and we were shown to a window seat and given a menu.I asked for drinks and, to my surprise, we were told that they didn't serve alcohol. I then realised that we had walked in to an Islamic restaurant - and not of the liberal or cosmopolitan kind. I ordered a lamb dish with french fries, my wife ordered a chicken dish with rice that came with a garlic sauce (according to the menu).I got the lamb dish with rice! My wife got the chicken dish with chips! and hot chili sauce!I scooped my rice in to some spare bowls I found, transferred the chips to my plate and gave the rice to my wife. The waiter approached and asked if we liked our food. I grunted as I believe they deliberately messed the simple order up.Both dishes were merely luke warm, approaching cold. They seemed as if they had possibly been prepared hours earlier. They lacked any warmth or any real flavour. In fact we cannot remember having a worse meal anywhere, but we were cold and hungry and wished we had stayed in our really nice hotel around the corner to eat again. We ate most of it, whilst sipping some water. L'Opera is not a cheap place, but miserable in the extreme. We will never, ever return. I reluctantly put £35 on a spare plate and handed it to our waiter on the way out. I did not ask for or wait for a bill and believe that sum just about covered what we had ordered.Give the place a swerve unless you like expensive cold food and do not drink beer, wine or liqueur coffee. My mistake in visiting here is your good fortune - forewarned is forearmed.

I have been visited the place with some friends. We ordered the lotus cake and they told us it was available in one hour. So we changed into a different one; but as soon as we started to eat we saw after 10 minutes the cake we wanted being served and nobody was so kind to inform us.iThe waitress (young, brunette) was extremely rude and she was ignoring us for the entire service. When we asked for the bill we had to wait for ten minutes and after several reminds we had to stand up and go to buy by the counter. The card machine wasn't working and the guy at the till blamed my card when it was clearly written on the machine that it wastheir problem related to the connection (the card machine problem happened even during my friend's previous visit). The guy was absolutely rude and he told us again in a very rude way to get some cash.I will never ever go again.

While spending the weekend in Kensington, i walked past this place a few times before i actually went inside. L'Opera is the best café i have been in, filled with art work, traditional furnishings, wonderful staff and excellent food/drinks. Initially i went in for breakfast but ended up having the Red Velvet cake which was delicious. All of the staff were polite, attentive and made myself and my friend feel very welcome. I will be returning when i am next in London and recommend that everybody gives this place a go.

Went there for Arabic coffee. Lovely environment and nice coffee as well. Most customers are from the middle east and mainly from the gulf states i.e. Saudi, Kuwait...etcThey have another branch next block which is much bigger than this one.Would recommend this cafe if you want an Arabic coffee with midleasten atmosphere as they play arabic songs inside the coffee.

We came here for a hot drink on one of the rainy and cold days in London to warm up again. The cappuccino was very nice, and the hot chocolate is hot milk with a chocolate bar to melt. I also ordered a chocolate cake with ice cream, which was delicious. The portions of the drinks is standard to large, the portion of the cake is rather small. Only a range of prices is indicated on top of the page, which is somewhat annoying. But it was a nice place to sit, and the service was very friendly.

After one week in London, we were looking forwards for our traditional arabic unique coffee. we went for afternoon tea, and we ordered the Lotus Termiso, and Red velvet Cake. We liked the 1st one so much. The red velvet was a bit dry and over sweeted.the Arabic coffee perfect, it has been done with high professional ability, although it the coffee was expensive (25 pound for a pot, enough for 5 people)the place is good but not luxury.

This was a surprising find as we walked through Knightsbridge. We only wanted a drink but after seeing the lovely food on offer we were tempted. There was so much choice and it all looked scrumptious. I tried a new drink which sounded odd but tasted oh so good on a cold December day - hot ginger honey and milk - Yummm.

The place is quite and it is a well decorated place. I liked the Turkish, French and Arabian coffees. The most interesting thing in this place is the decorations as they look classic and luxurious.

just went recently there for coffee and cake (or tea and cake rather). It is an elegant, spacious and affordable venue and was perfect for the occasion. The staff were very courteous and friendly. The décor is lovely. We ordered the red velvet cake and lotus cake. The lotus cake was lovely but the red velvet cake was very disappointing. The icing was very heavy (it should be light with a delicate flavour). However, it tasted strongly of cheese. The cake itself was ok - not great. However, I have to say the other cakes, baklawas and savoury food did look very yummy and I will go again to try! The decor really is quite lovely. I love the shabby chic look, the portraits on the ceiling and the French-type furniture. It is a bloggers' heaven! I will definitely go back!

We hosted our daughter's Christening party at L'Opera 232 Brompton Road (the bigger of the two L'Opera sister restaurants) after a service at the Brompton Oratory. It is an elegant, spacious and affordable venue and was perfect for the occasion. The manager, Alessandro, was extremely attentive in helping us to plan all aspects of the day from menu to decorations - nothing was too much trouble. All our guests thought the afternoon tea menu was delicious and that the staff were warm and welcoming on the day. The pastry chef created a beautiful and affordable bespoke cake design, which was yummy and wowed our guests! This venue is excellent value for money given its fantastic location. Thank you so much Alessandro and team for creating such a memorable and special event for us! We look forward to seeing you again. Married couple in early thirties, Knightsbridge.

i have went to the old branch. I had lunch there it was fine but I would recommend it for a light snack or afternoon tea. I had a fruit salad ( watermelon and pineapple) it was so tasty and the baqlawa was so good as well. I ordered tea pot which was enough for 3 people.

It's new place lunched just couple of years. Arabs look for Arabic food and sweets whenever they go to Europe ! The Arabic coffee taste so good in this place makes you feel in the middle east and the sweets are simply fresh taste so good.

We only had about 50 minutes for us to have a meal and leave for a previously booked engagement and went in this beautifully decorated establishment. The staff were very helpful explaining what food was on offer and once we had chosen it was brought to our table within a very few minutes.Great taste and good sized portions at very reasonable (for the area) prices. We would (and have) recommend this place if you are in a hurry or have more time to spare.

The girls wanted to stop for a spot of tea, so we went into this nicely adorned spot and got a nice seat close to the window. Our server was friendly and cheerfully offered us a food menu, but since it was mid afternoon we just had warm refreshment. My wife had strawberry and my daughter had green peppermint tea. I had what could easily be one of the best warm drinks I ever had. You must try a honey ginger with steamed milk. Yum, yum, yum!!!!

Pranzo "veloce", mini buffet.

Very nice and attractive, famous area, very expensive but marvellous. The atmosphere is greater than any place in London. Wonderful set up and decorations. I highly recommend Joury Knightsbridge to everyone.

Pasta dish undercooked (returned), wine not chilled, no bread offered, no Parmesan offered for the pasta, the food was good but overall a poor experience for an expensive (over priced restaurant).

Just sayin that for the price and the quality.... damn that's a good place ! I hope they are going to stay open forever
