Good customer service better food

The driver from this take away is honest , he sent money back to me while i dont realize two tenner glued together. Really thanks . And the food is really impeccable.

Good size portions and really tasty food. Ordered chicken sweetcorn soup, crabmeat soup, King prawn in Blackburn sauce , Grilled chicken peking style, soft noodles. Will definitely be back and highly recommended.

My go to Chinese takeaway, maybe 2 or 3 times per month, rarely disappointed. And they are open on Tuesdays.

Just had some salt and pepper “chicken”, overcooked, dry, and barely any meat in there at all. Not the first time either. This place used to be half decent, but I won’t be back.

POOR POOR POOR !!! Just stood to be ignored at the desk for over 10 mins … whilst they get there just eat deliveries out the door ! When I asked if I could place my order and I would come back and collect food ! Was told that I was to wait till basically she had finished getting other orders done ! Poor service ! When a customer has taken the time to go and place an order and wait it’s expected that good customer service is to be helpful . In this case being ignored and told to wait longer whilst she did what she wanted lead to me going else where !

One of the best Chinese out there

Ordered a couple of months ago and had great meal. Tonight it took a long time to deliver. It also tasted weird.prawn toast wasn't up to the same standard and I couldn't even eat the cashew chicken in yellow bean sauce. I haven't had that before so it could be just not to my liking rather than a poor dish. Chilli chicken tasted OK but was tough. Really disappointed as I had hoped for better.

Ordered chicken fried rice. Not much flavor going on. Also this place is cash only.

Hadn't ordered here for a long time since they changed hands - used to love Loon Wah so thought we'd give it another chance but it was the same story, awful. All the food's gone completely downhill. When we called to complain they weren't interested to hear anything about it. Real shame as they used to be the best Chinese around..

Been going to this take-away for years. Still amazing and prices very competitive. Portion size huge.

Chicken fried rice OK but deep fried shredded chicken very tough, felt like it was just batter no chicken and nearly broke my teeth. Don't think ill be ordering again

Got a special chop suey absolutely disgusting tasted like sweet and sour sauce had noodles thru it which the dish should not have only tried a spoonful wouldn't give me a refund and will not be going back ever again and recommend not going here lucky I give it 1 star

There rice tastes like grit, curry tasted like curry sauce mix from supermarket. Chips taste like night befores, ribs are all fat and cut small, chicken tastes like gristle. Can’t cook, Don’t cook

Have been eating at Loon Wah for over 30 years but recently it’s really gone downhill. I don’t know if there’s new management or what. Anyway, tonight the food was practically inedible. Noodles weren’t cooked and crispy, and chicken tasted off and made us feel sick. The old Loon Wah is but a memory I’m afraid.

*Do not recommend at all...sadly very disappointed with the new food and service. We and many of our Edinburgh family members are loyal customer of the past 9 years; we ordered our usual choices of mains/rice/soft noodles/spring rolls, but the wrong mains arrived (not ordered) and with so much sugar/M.S.G/tasteless flavoured sauce, with a few sad lifeless vegetables, the wrong sized spring rolls and no soft noodles- so I called to politely complain and ask to speak to owner or manager- I was instantly spoken over- told ''no manager and no owner in town, nothing I will do, its your fault- you should have told us at the time'' I explained that "it was only the day before yesterday, ordered late after 9pm, and I worked allday yesterday so I could not call" but still I'm told there's nothing they can do- I said "usually a business would give a free of charge meal another time as an apology, surely that would be a solution? myself and 10 other local family members want to have the usual great standard of food and service we've enjoyed for the past 9 years at 'Loon Wah Takeaway', so that we can stay as a loyal customer but I have paid a lot of money to eat some rice, as the whole order was wrong"... Again I was told you cannot speak to anyone, there's nothing we can do, it's new owners... :( such a shame as we all have really liked the old owners/staff, it was such a nice family run business that obviously cared about standards... Myself and all my family will take our business elsewhere. We hope the past owners are well 🙏

Arrived ahead of time and piping hot. Squid with ginger and spring onions was mostly just sliced onions with a couple of spring onions in it. The squid was over cooked and chewy and not nice. However the chicken satay skewers were well cooked and still juicy in a tasty sauce. Would I go back again probably not. Chef chi is more expensive but but definitely better. Just avoid the chips with curry sauce which is more like potatoes swimming in curry sauce.

I can't find the words to say how special this place is. The foods spectacular 😋 and the service is great. Would never go anywhere else now x

Of all the take away the Edinburgh that I have been able to try, this is undoubtedly the best. The food is very good and the service is fast, even though I think the price is a bit high, especially for the area where it is located. But I'll still be ordering from them for sure because I love it.

This used to be best chinese takeaway but not tonight food was awful put dinner in the bucket. Didnt realise new owners will avoid in future waste of money.

Sadly I have to echo the previous review. This Loon Wah is not the one we have been using for the last 20 year. I have ordered twice from here since it changed hands. First time I assumed it was just a friend looking after the place but when I collected the next time the new owner confirmed it is now under new management. The meal was abysmal both times. It used to be that Loon Wah was the best in Edinburgh (we still went after moving out of delivery catchment) but now there are plenty Chinese takeaways that better than this bland, beige, greasy takeaway. Super sad to have lost Jenny and Co but wishing them all the best. Sadly this is one to avoid.

DO NOT USE THIS FAKE LOON WAH ANYMORE!!! Called and ordered food as they told me on the phone and in the take away that it was the same chef and same menu. I should’ve known better🙈. Nothing more than another terrible Chinese take away just after your cash. All bought in cheap produce, nothing at all like the previous Loon Wah everyone loved. Food is well below standard. If you have no palet and just eat anything? Go here. They apologized for lying when I called back to complain. I for one won’t ever order here again. Loon Wah as we know it is gone forever I think. It was good while it lasted. Jenny I hope you and your husband have a long and happy retirement.

Avoid... Seriously avoid! After being asked several times my address, postcode, order, telephone number and name, the guy asked how I would pay? Cash I replied and I need a receipt please. What is your name again came the response. I hesitated and stated I am getting worried now that you're not writing this down... OK I cancel your order we close now. Not worth the effort.

Terrible customer service. Rude woman.

Immensely rude woman on the phone. When I asked simply why she put me on hold to answer another call and take their order she said 'if you don't like it, call somewhere else'. She is foul to talk to in person. I have given up with them. Found Chef Chi instead- delightful service and much better food.

One of the best places for Chinese food in all of Edinburgh. So speedy, delicious, and very cheap. I order from here multiple times a month and have never been let down. The woman working the counter is so lovely and delivery is always speedy too. Definitely recommend!!

Tried a few around Northfield area. This one by far the best. Nice rice, amazing hand made spring rolls. Will only be ordering from here from now on.

Salt and chilli chicken wings very nice

Tasty Chinese, finally found a local Chinese in Edinburgh! The salt a chili chips and chicken wings were very good! The duck curry was excellent, very tender duck. The deep fried crispy chicken was good, but the chicken remains separate from the sauce which is different than the usual. Overall will definitely be back!

Always like this place. The top for me is the Salt & Spicy stuff and even better, the Spring Rolls which are the best I've had in Embra

Worst take away I've ever had £18 50 for a prawn curry and shredded beef and honey and chilli sauce with soft noodles Disgusting and I'll never phone them again Most of it is in the food waste bin I don't know why I gave them one star should be minus one

Best Chinese in Edinburgh . Never fails to impress me :)

Consistently the best salt and chilli chips, which come in a box with two of the corners cut off the lid to stop them from going soggy <3 Really fast delivery, even on busy nights, and very reasonable prices.

The reason I'm giving 2 stars is because I remember when this place used to be decent... Anyway after finally convincing my brother to go here after he repeatedly told me the standards have dropped so much we finally placed an order this evening by card... I appreciate it's a busy place... but 2 hours later... Yes... 2 hours later I phone back only to be told they've only just started cooking it... To which I politely asked - Can I just have a refund please??... "Na, we're too busy... We'll do it later"... NO... You'll give me my refund... The problem with this place is they've got so popular they don't care anymore... the food and service is not what it used to be... but then do they care?? Not really... and therein lies the problem I was told

Just had my Christmas Dinner from loon wah today, absolutely delicious!!! Everything was hot and made our day so special! Thank you loon wah 😘

Placed an order, was advised of waiting time of an hour and when calling 1 hour and 45min later I was told there was no order, because the lady assumed I had said I don't want to order due to the waiting time - no idea how she got to that conclusion, because my actual words were 'an hour is fine - I appreciate it is a Saturday. Can I please pay over the phone?' Worst of all, she did not seem to care much about that mistake at all. I'd give them zero stars if I could.

Ordered at 19:30 and got my food at 20:50 after being told it was only a 30 minute wait. When I questioned the woman about the waiting time she was extremely rude. When I told her I would not be going back her response was “good I’ll delete your records as well”

Best Chinese for miles. We keep coming back for more. Best salt and chilli chips on the planet. Only gripe is the delivery usually takes around an hour. Service and food is outstanding!

I was a regular customer many years ago, decided on going back after being away for a long time, & Oh my word their food is still DELICIOUS still the same lovely couple who opened 17 years ago still cooking fantastic Chinese food. Commendation to both Would definitely recommend this fabulous Loon Wah Chinese X

Check your food before selling it to the public. Terrible stomachache, still in the toilette as I'm writing this at 2:30am. Update, I have been diagnosed with food poisoning and still recovering, had to lie in bed for the all day and had to take a few days off work, with a family to look after. What about suing you and asking for compensation? You should be reported and take full responsibility for cooking contaminated food, which I'm sure you were aware of.

A long wait for delivery at busy times of the month but always worth it, the food is excellent and the drivers are pleasant, wouldn't go anywhere else..

Absolutely delish food. When our usual takeaway closed we thought we'd never find anywhere as good. However, Loonwah were recommended and is far FAR the best we've ever used - ever!!

Uncooked noodles phoned up and not a care in the world, pube on the container lid. If your having a depressing day and think it can't get any worse order from this place.
