A lovely little bar with a different array of beers, making a change from the usual selection which seems to be the norm in Durham nowadays.

This was a small hotel that we popped into to have a drink an get in from the. The Lady in receptionist recognised my friend and was welcoming. Apparently the breakfast was very good. The decor created a really welcoming atmosphere.

Absolutely the worst experience looked forward to going here all day Saturday what a disappointment my husband had to send his drink back twice as it was flat my wine glass was thick of dust the chicken you couldn’t cut it and the waitress didn’t know anything we asked her and served us with her coat on we spent £80 don’t mind if it’s enjoyable but this was definitely not

Came here as stated in the townhouse. Owner of the restaurant was lovely and so friendly. Food was absolutely amazing, gutted we are out of the catchment area for delivery. We ended up going back for breakfast as well which was amazing

We came here for an outing with our favourite people. First impressions, the aesthetic and setting is spot on, modern trendy decor and a good chilled vibe. After a coffufle with the drinks menu (it was the waitresses first night bless her) the manager treated us to a round of free drinks and doubled up the Spirits for us 👌🏻 Now the food, we ordered a Parmo and 3x of the mix meat and sides options from the menu. Good: Ribs were juicy, saucy and plenty meat on them. The burnt ends were tasty too. The seasoning on the chips was lush. One of the G’s enjoyed his spicy rice. The beans were a bit random. Bad: the Brisket and Hog were dry and severely lacking sauce. Some gravy or some sort of BBQ sauce around the meat would of really saved the day here. K1 really did not like her parmo, it descended into wet chickeny mush. We finished our food and ordered more drinks, the rose wine was lovely. The manager was a good crack too and didn’t mind us being our bouncy crazy selves. The price was reasonable for the food and drinks we had. We moved into the hotel bar for a swifty before heading home, the room was comfortable and we loved the Quirky decor! Overall a great night because of the company we were with (pure mint crack ew) ,the manager of the restaurants service and the vibe of the place won its score here. We want to check out the hotel one time for a stat and maybe will stop by here for drinks again, or if they improve the food. Kayleigh’s and Gentlemen score : 7/10

The food was nice and the beer was really good, my only issue was that it’s quite expensive for what you get and they stick a service charge on top of it. I have no issue with giving a tip but making it mandatory and not advising of that in advance isn’t a great way to run a business. The service wasn’t bad but when a pint already close to £6, adding another 10% on to it comes off as greedy

Absolutely and by far the worst food and service I’ve ever had in my life, We waited 10 mins to be seated in a virtually empty restaurant ? Then another 20 mins before our smirking waiter bothered to come over for our drinks order, and this was only after my wife had to go to the hotel reception to find the waiter who was sitting chatting to another employee. In hindsight we should have just walked out right then. The food was awful, mine in particular had clearly sat under a heat lamp for a long time, the sauce had a thick skin on it and everything was very very very dry. We dine out in Durham regularly and have tried most places but this one is now scrubbed from our list If you want to see how not to run a business it’s worth a visit.

Terrible food. Longhorn platter so presumably what they should be best at, but left most of it as totally inedible. Dry wings, ribs and rubber like brisket. Staff didn’t actually ask how the food was during or after the meal.

Really strange place as decor screams Thai / oriental but it’s a smokehouse. Could be overlooked if the food was good but it was terrible. We ordered the longhorns bbq platter which presumably they should very good at making but it was inedible. Wings, brisket and ribs were really dry so left most of it. You wouldn’t really expect that quality at a fast food restaurant but the meal was £90 for two people (we did have wine and a cocktail).

Came here on Saturday for a friendly meet up meal with two families for a Christmas meet up. Spent £134, and left about £90 worth of it. Wings were pink. Ribs were rubber. Horrific. Side portions were meagre yet paid over the top. Still getting it in the neck from the wives as to how this was a ruined day. Please avoid. £6.50 for potato skins. Was expecting loaded skins for this price. No. Five slivers of skins. I hope this place gets in touch as we were too embarrassed to complain at the time.

I had no clue that this was here in Durham! Now that we have found it and visited it, we definitely be back. Set in The Townhouse hotel, the decor is very much on trend. The menu is a proper smokehouse menu. We opted for the smokers platter and it was excellent. Every bit of the dish was eaten. We had it for 2 adults and 1 child and it was enough. Had the longhorns lager and this was very good. Deserts, 4 options and all very good. Reasonably priced for the total price. If you are in Durham, it’s a bit off the beaten track but if you find it, you won’t be disappointed. I would highly recommend a visit.

Wow! The best service. Really went out of their way for us and made a fuss of our 3 year old. Food was epic! Delicious and huge portions!

Booked for a large group Sunday Lunch with 9 adults and 5 kids. The place is very stylish and compact, but feels bigger, and is very relaxed and comfortable. There's background music but at a low level so conversation is easy. The menu (Sunday Lunch) is large enough and included meat free options. This is a fixed price two courses or three courses menu. The staff were friendly and accommodating, with two of group asking for an item from the normal lunch menu and, after a quick check with the kitchen, being able to order said item. The food was excellent. Longhorns have a justified great reputation for their barbecue meats and they certainly didn't disappoint. The portions are generous and the attention to detail evident. Even the garlic mayo was clearly home made if that fresh garlic bite was anything to go by. Fabulous.

Grease is the word. It’s like they made a burger then decided to dunk it in a vat of oil. Slopfest. DNF. You have to choose your sauce and salad with the burger, which is a trend I am not on board with. The fries were like the old king fries at BK, but unsalted. Desserts are nice.

PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE. Awful. They are taking their customers for fools. A lovely setting serving appalling food. I ordered the rack of lamb only to be served 2 small fatty lamb chops. I thought I had been served the wrong dish only to be told that this was indeed a 'rack' of lamb. The “confit” potato was just a tasteless slice of boiled potato, the 'meat juices' virtually non existent. But there was a huge pile of green beans to fill in all the empty spaces on the plate. When I questioned the potato, I was offered additional potato dauphinois thinking it would be complimentary, only to be charged for that also. So a total of £36 for an awful lamb dish pretending to be something it wasn’t. I wrote to the restaurant and also to Marco Pierre White HQ. They all insist 2 lamb chops is the same as a rack of lamb. It is clear they don't really know better and don't really care. Message to MPW HQ : read all the Durham reviews in the past 12 months, the majority are really poor. The good reviews were mostly 1-3 years ago.

If you like your coke chopped and sniffed rather than in a glass then it’s ok. Frequented by every low life in the area with regular late night fights outside. Was ok when it first opened but now no decent people go

Not effen open yet! I don't mind if it's listed on the map, but then absolutely make sure the hours are correctly listed as *closed* - is common sense something that doesn't exist within Google maps??!!
