Long Melford Fine Foods Tea Room in Babergh

Excellent friendly service, we dropped in for an early lunch/snack along with our JRT puppy while visiting the area. Food was good (dietary options available) and service friendly and attentive, so much so we returned for afternoon coffee and cake!

Highly recommended. Such wonderful thoughtful staff and fabulous afternoon tea. Everything on the cake stand was utterly delicious. The birthday 'girl' was made to feel very special. Thank you Long Melford Tearoom, we will certainly be back.

What a warm and welcoming group of people in the Tea Room. Nothing was too much trouble and when they discovered that they had run out of Gluten free bread, I am coeliac, they popped out to the local Co-op and bought some so that I could have a toasted sandwich. What’s more the owner was at great pains to explain the possible slight risk of cross contamination. Would recommend this as a great little place for a snack, cakes or tea and coffee.

We recently visited the Long Melford Tea Rooms to celebrate a retirement. We booked the high tea in advance and Richard and the team did such a great job of making us all feel special. The high tea was delicious and too much for a few of us to eat in one sitting, so we were given lovely little boxes to take our last pieces in. We love The Long Melford Tea Rooms and would recommend them for both their savoury and sweet treats. The atmosphere is cosy and very friendly and just a lovely place to be.

We visited the tea room for my birthday treat of afternoon tea. It was just so special, there was a birthday card on the table and we were treated so well. It’s a small run business that’s so personal, and such a comfortable setting. The variety of cakes and sandwiches was also fantastic! I brought some home which I have hidden in the fridge!

We had the most splendid afternoon tea for two at this gorgeous place.. a truly special experience from start to finish. We had a lovely welcome, personal and friendly service and the most gorgeous high/afternoon tea. Highly recommend this wonderful tea room. Visited this tea room very recently and I was sooooo impressed. I have visited many, many tearooms due to being a carer and it being something we enjoy doing regularly. The service was outstanding, the owners were so friendly and the food, especially the cakes were so delicious. I will be putting this tea room at the top of my list and hope to visit again really soon. Would recommend a visit to anyone looking for an authentic and cosy tea room with a lovely atmosphere in a great location. Be prepared to undo a notch on your belt because you won’t be able resist a second slice of cake!

Where do we start? We have visited so many times - and stepped in the first time by chance when we heard a piano playing and were intrigued...from the ambience of the live music on a Saturday to the quaint tea services and the beautifully made sandwiches - the pastrami, cheese toasted sandwiches with mustard mayonnaise is a must try, if you want a recommendation. But we have tried so many. Where you can relax with family and listen to fantastic piano playing, chat a feel like you are transported away and not rushed to leave. Don't ever stop what you do, please we have brought so many people to you now...and if it wasn't for that first day we heard the music we might of missed this little gem. Reservation might be recommeded - but we have walked in too

Excellent Tea Room with superb staff and service. Menu covers all the things that you would expect from a Tea Room with beautiful cream teas through to brilliant toasted sandwiches with all the trimmings. Certainly a place to stop and have a lovely break.

Had lunch here on Good Friday before we visited Melford Hall. We received a really warm and friendly welcome from the lovely hosts. I ordered a toastie and pot of loose leaf tea, both of which were perfect. The tearoom is cosy without being overly twee and the cake selection is out of this world. Highly recommend this little gem of a place in Long Melford High St. Will visit again next time we are in the area.

Another visit to this excellent tearoom which never disappoints. The food is always freshly prepared and delicious and they do a great pot of tea. On today’s visit they thoughtfully left a birthday card on my table big thank you Richard, Lisa and Tracey. Advice is book ahead as it’s popular

Warm, welcoming, friendly staff provided a great service and tasty food. It is a tasty but fairly limited menu. Well priced and nicely presented. I really enjoyed my hot chocolate and tuna melt toastie.

Absolutely wonderful. A lovely atmosphere in a warm, cosy, and comfortable space. The team are so friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The food and coffee were excellent. As we left we had lovely chat with proprietor Richard and right-hand lady Tracy. We could not have had a nicer lunch. We are lucky enough to be local and will be visiting regularly from now on.

This tea room has recently changed management and the new owners have made the wise decision to, for now at least, keep things the same. Tea is good, cakes fresh and homemade. Highly recommended.

The most wonderful experience. This traditional tea room serves incredible cake and of course the best Tea. The staff are lovely and you are welcomed with a smile.

One of the friendliest and nicest cafes we have visited. The owners communicated well beforehand assuring me they could cater for someone with coeliac disease, even putting a slice of gluten free cake aside for me! They took great care to safely prepare my lunch - everything was delicious. Highly recommend!

A wonderful warm and friendly welcome. ( Dog friendly tea room!). I took my mum for a cream tea and they did not disappoint. Lovely home-baked scone and cream and jam. I had a slice of home made coffee cake and it was absolutely delicious in fact I told the gentleman that served me that the recipe is so similar to how I bake my coffee cake. The premises was very clean and would highly recommend for a treat.

What a fabulous tearoom! Everything was perfect, from the delicious cakes to the table settings. The owner immediately let himself be known and we had a pleasant chat. Highly recommend!

Walked through the door just on closing time (4pm), and I was greeted with a lovely warm welcome and smiles from the owner and waitresses who told me that it didn't matter, they could still accommodate me. Then when I put my order in for a cream tea, the owner noticed there were no scones left. But instead of saying, sorry we've run out - no more until tomorrow, he insisted on getting some more from the freezer and defrosting them. I'd say this was going the extra mile, considering they were really now closed. Needless to say I was served with the best cream tea in town, in China cups, real tea (no bags) and by lovely waitresses. No wonder the place was packed. And after me, another large family came in, who were also accommodated well past closing time. 10 out of 10 for a warm welcome and great food . I will return !

What a fantastic tea room, walked in to a lovely welcome, tea and hot chocolate, tea cake and coffee cake out off this world so big had to take home with me will defiantly be back when in the area again.

We ordered a large cheesecake for a family do but it was pretty last minute. Couldn’t have been more accommodating and not only that but it was quite possibly the best cheesecake we’ve ever had. Totally delicious. Totally customer service focussed and a wonderful vibe in tea room itself. Will be back for more ! Five stars!!

Came here today for a spot of lunch while staying local. Lovely location in the high street. Both wife and I had sausage roll with “trimmings” which included chutney, crisps and small salad. Sausage roll was homemade and warmed through. All very tasty. Green tea and filter coffee both fine. To finish wife had Victoria sponge and I had the salted caramel sponge. Both cakes were light and tasted amazing. 4 members of staff, most of whom were doing the washing up so service was a bit delayed and had to keep going to the counter to get anything extra like knife & forks and cakes. Need to invest in a dish washer or extra staff. Would come her again. Thank you.

Afternoon tea today to celebrate a retirement! As always Lisa and her team were attentive and helpful. Food was amazing and so much we all went home with doggy bags. Home made, fresh and lots of choice….perfect! The pics say it all, we had individual delicious chocolate mousse too but I forgot to take a pic! We arrived at the tea room at 3 pm for a very late lunch half way round a 16 mile walk. The two sisters who run this place are so friendly and kind. They make all the cakes and scones themselves. We enjoyed a much needed toasted sandwich and Suffolk Apple cake which was just delicious. It is so lovely not to use one of the coffee chains but support a small local business. Their welcome and food fuelled us well for the second half of our walk. Definitely worth visiting them.

Very friendly staff and great service. The cake portion was huge, all home made and you could certainly tell from the quality. You can keep your big coffee chains this place is well worth a visit.
