First time trying Japanese breakfast, highly recommend. The portion size is good, and OMG all the flavors are delicious. We had the traditional Vegan.

My girlfriend and I had our first experience here this Sunday, where we tried the limited tuna belly over rice. Truly an incredible meal, from the perfect seasoning of the miso soup, to the insane quality of the fish (easily the highest grade tuna I’ve had in the UK), to the perfect portion sizes. The ambience was great, felt very cozy and the music was relaxing and not overly loud that it detracted from the mood. Bonus points for the cutest dog running around and stealing attention from everyone. Genuinely looking forward to the next time we go back!

Love it here, whenever somebody visits me in Bristol, I take them here for breakfast and they are always blown away. Staff are lovely, atmosphere is fantastic with the chill music, often very relaxing hip-hop. The drinks are great, with plenty of options both familiar and a little bit more unique. The food is, undoubtedly, some of the best I have ever had and definitely the best breakfast I can find in Bristol. It just makes me feel happy and my soul lights up whenever I have it. If you are in Bristol, weather visiting or you're a local, you owe it to yourself to try this. Especially if you like any kind of Asian cusine.

I was so gutted!! people have been raving about this place but the best thing was the decor. the treats we had were so dry, it was a cookie pie and a filled cookie, I feel like maybe they had been out for a while in the heat?? I couldn't finish mine. the coffee was mid, towards the end it tasted like they had either reheated the milk or the milk was gone off. we also had a matcha with strawberry cream I think cost like £6+, the entire glass was full of ice and there might have been like 3 mouthfuls of the actual drink in there. and the matcha was premade :( I was so sad!! the girls really didn't seem interested in serving anyone which was also really disheartening. I loved the decor but it felt like all style and no substance. I can't say what the cooked food is like since we didn't have it but hopefully it's the saving grace of this place. the entire thing was £21 and honestly I feel a bit scammed.

Wasn't sure what to expect as the menu on Google is from a previous incarnation, turned out to be short and unusual menu of big rice based breakfasts, french toast, toasties, and cakes The Japanese breakfast was excellent, especially the incredible plum tofu. It was also huge; enough for an evening meal. My partners Chazuke with salmon was also good and similarly satisfying, though he preferred mine. I'd love if there were a few more lighter/takeaway options; maybe a half size portion as a bento box, or just the plum tofu in an onigiri. Having said that, the toasties did look amazing, and the matcha latte was delicious and beautiful. Fab and interesting soundtrack too. Left feeling hip and full.

I lived in Japan briefly and have since been craving a proper Japanese breakfast. The food here has absolutely filled that gap and although I don’t live particularly close, I try to make the effort to get here as often as possible! I also loved the honey americano, very yummy.

So happy to have this spot as my new local brunch spot and I’ll definitely be taking all my friends here. The food is absolutely delicious and it’s such a unique option for brunch that I’ve never come across before. The vibes are wonderful and the tune selection is also top notch, and those vegan cookies are unreal!!!

I've been here twice now and both times brought me so much joy. I don't know the owner but on both visits there were streams of people popping in and wishing them the best. Obviously proud of their friend and for good reason! The vibes are great The food is top notch (great vegan options) The drinks are wonderfully made And the music was on point! My husband ordered the traditional breakfast and I ordered the French toast (both times). The sour plum tofu (of which I stole from him) is crazy flavorful and the French toast (of which I did not share) is so decidant! My one gripe, if you can call it that is: We were waiting for a larger table but didn't know there's more in the back. There is! A sign above the door way by the tills pointing to extra seating and the loos may stop people from poking their nose in and thinking it's full and leaving but it was quite busy so that's probably not a problem! Can't wait to see how this spot, and it's menu evolves. Love it!

A great new place to eat and relax. Really friendly staff. A quirky drinks menu; you'll find us having matcha latte or honey coffee. An equally as quirky lunch menu; we loved the kimchi toasty! I would love to go back and try the hot food as it all smelt and looked incredible I will also be returning for the matcha cheesecake as this was insane!

Had the loveliest Japanese breakfast on Friday! Really brightened my morning, each little dish is incredibly flavourful and perfectly balanced, in all its little ways - temperature, presentation, flavour profile etc. Loved that for the pickles and miso soup, and the tofu was insanely good too. It was expensive, sure, but was well worth the price! One small thing : my drink was too icy, which diluted everything, making it hard to enjoy the taste (I had the matcha with coconut water). Either way, excited to come back and try everything on the menu!! Happy to keeping support this business (especially after the lovely ramen pop up last year) :)!!!

If you are looking for a relaxing place to eat, catch up with a friend or just have a coffee and people watch, this is the spot for you. Tasty, well cooked food inspired by the breakfast meals of Japan. This is sure to get your taste buds tingling in pleasure. I had a beautiful shitaki mushroom panina alongside a hearty Salmon Chazuke full of flavour.

*at kitchen by kask pop up! Managed to fit us in for a table of 2 on a Saturday night and was worth the wait!! Excellent service. Matching beer flight. Delicious Japanese inspired cocktails and most importantly ramen that tastes like it's been cooking for over 24 hours gathering flavour and depth. We ordered the whole meat menu, had beef tartare, trust me, sounds strange but worked so well with Nori sheets and a semi- cured egg yolk for dipping. Chicken Karrage so light crispy with a good spice mix hit and finally the ramen bowls. You have to try this place to see how amazing the ramen is, made with massive amounts of time, skill and enthusiasm for Japanese cuisine. I will be reccomending to friends and trying to get back soon!

The food was simple but cooked well, prices were high. 2 thin slices of miso aubergine came to £10 and 2 very small fillets of mackerel for £14. I felt a bit ripped off because I was expecting a meal rather than high costed tapas. The menu could do with a suggested order quantity.

Very disappointed... I had karaage fried (burnt)chicken Don. It was really really dry to the point that I'm not sure if it was thigh (as it should be) or breast! Rice was good but the rest I wouldn't recommend.

High expectations after the other reviews, but the food had quite the hill to climb after a 90 minute wait. Seems they spent that time on cooking the chicken alone. Thank goodness for the moisture from the cucumber salad. Was offered a refund which I refused because I do wish them all the best. They can and will do better I'm sure, maybe I timed it wrong.

10/10 so so so so GOOD. Had to order food from here three days in a row to sort me out after working a raw week in a kitchen myself. Every time I brought a friend with me they loved it as much as me. Banging date night food! I am obsessed! Trying to make my way through the whole menu, but Katsu and sharing some small plates with friends was my favourite to do, just try everything! Not to be missed, I’m just sad Lonely Mouth aren’t in my local anymore but it’s worth the cycle to town 🔥🔥🔥
