If you like cakes come here, if you also love a bookshop well you get the cakes as a bonus. Lovely shop this one and the cakes are very decent. Loved it here.

I visit this cafe every time in London I normally come once a year but due to the pandemic this was my first visit in 3 years. I only had tea and cake and it was delicious but the experience is not what it was. On previous visits you were sat down, given a glass of water and offered the tea menu; the tea would be served in a pot. This time, it was a tea bag in a paper cup and the cake in a paper box. I dare say that this was a pandemic precaution but it's no longer necessary. Please can we have the old bakeshop back! (Service was quick and friendly, however.)

It’s a cozy and sunny spot, attached to the (unexpectedly excellent) LRB bookshop, and we enjoyed the treats very much. It’s a pity the patio is so tiny but it’s popular on beautiful days, of course. However it’s not really acceptable to serve lovely cakes in little paper boxes suitable for food delivery. It felt quite cheap and very wasteful. I’d like to try some of the meals, which looked nice - we only had dessert.

Great quality food......worth finding this place. Although served in take away containers this was not an issue. Will be back.

The London Review of Books bookstore has an excellent variety of reading material but also hosts a cake shop that also sells other lunch items. The staff are very helpful and food is excellent. If the restaurant is packed, there is outdoor seating in a quiet courtyard.

I brought a friend here for a light lunch and we sat outside in the courtyard. We had a bowl of white bean soup served with sourdough bread. The soup was lovely but my slice of bread was more holes than bread! We also shared a piece of banana cake with chocolate pieces which was amazing. My coffee was great too.

After 20 minutes of waiting for our difficult order of two cups of tea and a cake to come through, I gently approached the desk and asked if it was on its way. No rush came the reply and there certainly wasn't... another 20 minutes later and it turned out they had lost the order - when it came it was in a depressing takeaway format of paper cup and cake hidden in the equivalent of a Domino Pizza cardboard case. Time was when the LRB cake shop was a bit of a oasis in Bloomsbury but not anymore. The far more characterful Cafe Babka round the corner will become my new after British Museum place. And just to add insult to injury, when I bought a book to support the bookshop and wanted to take it away in the pouring rain and asked if they had anything waterproof to put it in, they looked at me as if I was an Eco vandal and told me that that I should be happy with a thin paper bag and just let it get wet. All one's prejudices about the whole London Review of Books institution confirmed .... a small group of writers writing for themselves for many decades with none of the outward reach or breadth of the New York equivalent ... oh yes and the cake wasn't much good over.

We sat outside in the spacious courtyard and had some of their vegan main courses, coffee and cake. The food is excellent quality, very flavoursome and fresh. The portions are substantial and the prices reasonable.

The drinks the coffee and the cakes were absolutely fine BUT the way the staff talk to the customers shocked me. The lady with the black hair when i was told that i have to order the cakes by myself, said to me “sit down. He will come to get the order”. There was a guy, the waiter, it was his first day. He was smiley and helpful. But the behavior of the lady, let us down

Situated in a side street just a hundred yards from the British Museum, this place is a hidden gem. The cakes are wonderful; there is always an excellent choice of light lunches (with some especially good vegan and vegetarian options); and there is a quite outstanding range of black, green, fruit and herbal teas. The service is friendly and efficient. And the prices are surprisingly modest. It’s a very small cafe, situated in the same building as a first class bookshop. And, sometimes, it can be difficult to get a seat. But you can wait; and in summer there is also outside seating in a courtyard. Not to be missed.

Adjacent to the excellent and recommended bookshop. Not the largest of cafes, but a good selection on offer, especially cakes. Very pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. A great location in the heart of Bloomsbury, just a side-step away from the hustle and bustle. Ideal if you're visiting the British Museum and want to get away from the crowds.

We loved our lunch at Carrots and Daikon yesterday. I had the garlic tofu Banh mi and my husband had the tofu lunch box. The baguette forming my Banh mi was the perfect combination of crunch with a soft centre and the tofu was nicely garlicky. What really made our day were the ice creams! The chrysanthemum and mango ice cream was such a fantastic combination and the matcha and pistachio was delicious too. We then bought one of each of the other flavours and I must admit that the combinations are creative genius! Who would’ve thought that mint choc chip would go with coffee and raspberry and jasmine tea with its floral notes would hit the spot?! I thought that the coconut and lemongrass was super refreshing too. Thank you to the friendly folk at C & D.

Opened last year or early this year..very pleasant and airy bar / cafe, which if you're arriving early for a meeting or finishing early, is a nice place to chew over the errors in your recent ritual meeting! As usual in London all a bit pricey but very convenient after a meeting in the Temples. Very bright and tastefully decorated with the usual good staff.
