London Fields Lido Café in Hackney

The Scottish woman working in the cafe is a whole next level aggressive bully. I pray that me or any of my friends or family never have the displeasure of meeting her again. What a disgusting excuse for a human being. Never have i met such a bitter, sour, rude and aggressive worker, in the Better establishment. Well she works for Hoxton Beach owners, so technically she is not part of Better, we just have to endure her. She tried to have me arrested today by claiming i tried to head but her, it's all on camera and i recorded her too so she's going to be all over social media talking to me like a spastic. Totally unethical and disgusting. I have the evidence of her trying to mock me because a little bit of saliva came out of my mouth, she started acting like she was disabled with a speech impediment. She's lucky my brother wasn't with me that day, she would have got her wish. Fortunately for me, i know when someone is trying to play the card and get me into trouble, so I don't give them what they want. She's a special kind of card and a whole new kind of see you next Tuesday. I've reported her to her manager and suggest you all do the same if she's rude to you. She needs to go. This woman was so rude to me the first time i came to the pool and i let it slide, today was different, she tried to trigger me and push my buttons. She's a nasty piece of work. She's a bully and tries to bully people but that won't work with me, she'll get a nasty shock, trust me.

Lovely spot for an after swim coffee, a bit on the milky side but for the location and lovely service I really cannot complain. Great snack range too!

You've just had a morning swim in big blue skies, a little chilly but that adds to the feeling of being alive on this planet. Then a few minutes outside to grab a coffee and a bite, feeling good about life. Problem is, it's 'spin the wheel' with this place. Sometimes very friendly, but mostly getting barked at for leaning on the counter, being so rude as to ask for something she doesn't happen to have available that day, or...well, any number of things. I do still give in and order here some days, I like sitting outside this amazing pool and soaking it up. Most days though, there are much nicer places and people to meet.

Best banana bread you will get in London! Love the coffee too! And Caroline is amazing!

Went to collect a to good to go bag before agreed time I arrived at nearly 20 mins before close. Shutters closed staff had left early. Unable to get a refund. Obviously still getting paid and doesn't care.

Old lady doing the coffee is very grumpy, will not come back

I had a relaxing morning today & just wanted a coffee but staff at the bar seriously needs to relax . Younger girl was nice, but older lady was rude & not nice at all to me

I always pop for a coffee after my swim and see the lovely Caroline. Not sure why it says it's closed on weekends. It's actually open everyday from 7.30am. It's even open on Christmas Day and Boxing Day apparently!?

This was the second time I stopped by this cafe. This time an older woman was working who seemed miserable. I was on the phone to my partner and didn’t want to hang up. The counter did not seem clean I held it in my hand and rested on the counter as she was just sitting down on her phone. Couldn’t see who was even speaking. She rudely told me to angle my phone away. I just politely said okay and moved it off the counter but i was holding on. She told me to put it down on the counter “on the other side”. She accused me of recording her and I showed her my phone which showed I was on a call. She still insisted on me putting it down. I didn’t order in the end. My partner was even surprised and was angry at how I was spoken to. Just a little advice. You can politely ask someone and apologise for accusing at the end. You can simply state you were worried to be recorded. You can make it a light conversation instead of being miserable and rude. There’s no excuse for this behaviour given your age.

Delicious scotch broth, friendly little spot for good pastries and coffee. I use this as a regular stop and gladly recommend!

Extremely rude and argumentative lady ruined the simple joy of having an iced coffee after my swimming session. I also had another unpleasant interaction before but I thought maybe she was having a bad day then. She has no right to give hard time to people who just want to enjoy their free time, I really hope she starts doing something else rather than bullying customers. Also she charged me £4.50 for an iced americano, which is extremely expensive even in London standards. Never ever want to go back there again.

Love this place! Always good coffee, lovely pastries and huge falafels. Staff friendly and helpful and dogs welcomed. Hot chocolate after a swim perfect, and choice of vegan options too. A welcome fixture in London Fields, loved by locals. 👍😊

Went to lido today for the first great swim great experience Thought I would support the local cafe Tried to make pleasant conversation with the Scottish lady What a mistake that was What a bitter and angry person she was Could have had a proper argument with her bad news Food okay She is obviously angry about the hours she works and received a lecture from her about difficulties of working in the catering business She perhaps needs to get another job as she really is an unpleasant person

Best felafels in London! From stall outside the Lido. Super tasty. Medo is friendly and helpful. Try them!

So convenience , nice and friendly staff , falafel is amazing and delicious , and the best coffee in Hackney .

Avoid! Bought a falafel box here and for £6.50 - you only get 3 pieces of falafel. Also the falafel themselves aren't that green (not enough parsley in them) and had more of a "doughy" texture.

Always a friendly face to serve you great coffee. I often buy a soda bread loaf to take home, best soda bread I’ve had. A perfect place for a relax after your swim 😊

The man who works here is great (very friendly) but the woman was quite rude. Also quite unhygienic, went from wiping food/dribble off her face to touching my food without washing her hands during covid times

Very nice and great value for money falafel wraps. The two young guys are very friendly, but not the lady. What is the problem with her? It would be 5 stars if she would not have picked a fight with the falafel guy.

Nice little place to grab tea/coffee and some food by the park or just before/after going to the lido! Really nice staff too

The lady in the cafe is lovely. Made us feel welcome, super hot chocolate on a cold day and then let me fill up with water for my water bottles.

Fantastic food, great coffee and welcoming staff. Sometimes a little busy in the summer, always worth the wait, remember to like Dogs and Scotland!

Perfect place to grab tea/coffee in the park!

This a little coffee/cake/sandwiches kiosk by the lido. They're only small, so don't have a huge variety (and sometimes run out) but what they do have is great! I like to get a tea after a swim, sometimes I'll get the felafel wrap (it is *very* good) and sometimes cake, but usually just a hot drink. It's a park cafe; if you're nice to the people working, they're nice to you , and if you're rude and demandy then, well, you can't really complain if people re rays of sunshine back to you. They always have a bowl of water out for dogs, and if you don't mind the swimmers/cyclists, the tables are nice to sit at.

This place is a joke. I bought a coffee and attempted to pay for it. They had no change. It was 10AM on what was going to be one of their busiest days of the year and they didn't have any change. I asked if I could then pay by card but they would not make an exception to the £5 minimum rule and were trying to coax me into buying food to go with my coffee. I had already eaten and did not think it was my problem that they didn't prepare themselves for business that morning. I then was told that I would have to come back later for my change. That is ridiculous. When we were leaving the lido, I queued up again to get my money back. After waiting 10 minutes for my turn, I was told "we are closing". It was midday. I would have been so annoyed if I had been waiting to be served and then after waiting, they refused to serve me. It made absolutely no sense for the cafe to be closing at 12 midday on one of their busiest days of the year. I asked for my change back and, of course, the guy didn't remember me. I had to argue with him for my money. Its such a pity the Lido does not have a well run cafe. It would be such a great business opportunity. I will let the Council know about this also as they also deserve better.

One of my favourite parts of the week, a swim and post coffee with the best scottish barista in London.

Friendly staff and this must be the best falafel salad I ever had. I'm not kidding, it's EXTREMELY delicious.

Saturday morning at the Lido . 2 miles swum and cafe still closed :(

Yesterday was getting some ice cream and saw how the young man who was serving us was picking his nose and hand-combing his hair while handling the waffle ice-cream cones (not using any tissues, just grabbing them with his hands). Disgusting! Told me his hair is clean (no information was given about his nose though). The girls who work there whispered he was there just for one day to cover for someone, still no actions were taken after the complain, just carried on doing his dirty stuff to ice cream 🤷🏻‍♀️

I just found out that Hoxton Beach Café in Queen’s Park was only temporarily there to fill the hole between the previous, abruptly closed cafe until the new permanent cafe opened. I want to apologise that I didn’t appreciate them enough by going there at every given opportunity. I greatly regret now that I didn’t go there enough! I really miss their super laid back atmosphere and their banana bread offered toasted with butter on top. Just simple as that, it was pure perfection. Now I will visit you in East at every given opportunity.

I have been enjoying breakfast at the London Fields Café for several months now. The Scottish lady there is an absolute treasure and a credit to the establishment. Her porridge (loaded with fruit) is amazing and she’s always chirpy and bright in the morning; she seems to be on first name terms with every dog walker in the park. Don't ask her if it's 'Real' Porridge; you'll be left in no doubt that it's the 'real thing' The cakes are great too.

Great mince pies and spiced hot cider, and friendly service from Caroline as always. Merry Xmas!
