I give up, I really do. Have stopped using the restaurant because the food is pretty poor and the staff are surly at best. This morning I wanted to purchase a food item which they have stocked for years. First young girl I asked couldn't understand what I was asking for, second one said they didn't stock it although she has served me in the past and the third one said it had sold out but they might be getting some in in a couple of weeks. Several other local people have mentioned how rude the staff were. Hospitable is not a word you can use for this place and yet years ago it used to be good on all counts.

We pop in here regularly for breakfast or lunch. We particularly enjoy an afternoon tea. It is always carefully prepared with close attention to detail. Nice relaxing atmosphere, with views across the farmland and over to Bishop Hill. Options to sit indoors or outside. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Farm shop stocks a variety of produce and gifts for special occasions, all at reasonable prices. Keep up the great work and hope to see you soon.

Great spot to stop and recharge while out walking or exploring the area. We often stop by for some lunch, or a coffee and a treat. We recommend the afternoon teas which are homemade and delicious, but need to be booked a couple of days in advance. Staff are always really friendly and helpful. There are seats indoors, as well as outdoors for those sunny days!

This place has went right down hill. But reading other reviews it looks like the owner isn't paying attention so, perhaps reducing footfall will. The attitude of staff is care free. Not really interested in whether or not you are ordering, just an overall malaise about the place. The scones were shockingly dry and the coffee had zero flavour. Your order gets plunked down on the table on a blue plastic tray and you are left to take off the plates and coffee yourself then discard the tray..... Honestly it's laughable. Staff are miserable. This could be a wee gem, but it's worth heading along the road to Loch Levens Larder, or even Heaven Scent for the quality. Yeh its a bit dearer l, but you can thank me later.

Lovely place. We stopped for tea and a scone. Nice cup of tea but was surprised to be expected to carry it on a tray to our table! The scone was nice and seemed fresh. Lovely eating area and lots of outdoor tables for hot days. I live the book corner where you can browse and buy second hand books.

This little farm shop is situated in a lovely little area and has a very nice setting outdoor along with a conservatory. We visited for a morning coffee and cake/roll. The table service from the teenage girl was ‘ok’ but there’s certainly room for improvement! In very casual attire (tracksuit and hoody) dropping the tray on the table not even taking the cup and saucer off…. The cake and roll was very tasty. However the coffee could be improved. The cappuccino milk was steamed for too long (too hot/burnt) and no taste of coffee! The ratio of coffee to milk was all wrong… a few small improvements would go a long way here!

Great wee place and dog friendly in the lovely spacious conservatory. The staff were lovely and friendly and brought water and treats for our dog. The food was tasty and a decent price and a good flavoured pot of tea. I had a panini with two fillings which was served with a generous salad and crisps. Very tasty and filling. £8.50. I would certainly go back here again. The farm shop is also very interesting and filled with a variety of tasty foods and gifts

Such a great location, beautiful day but thoroughly disappointing experience. Lacklustre, dated with no aesthetic- half dead flowers on the tables, sullen staff. Was presented with little choice. The tuna sandwich was curling at the edges on Mother’s Pride processed white bread with stale crisps on the side. Cappuccino with absolutely no froth and served at nuclear temperature and I burnt my lip on the cup! Undrinkable, inedible and nothing to tempt me to return!

Clearly the owner doesn’t have a care about reading reviews. The same problems arise time after time, outlining the same issues. Our family had the worst food experience and the attitude of the staff was just about the same…..infact worse .Soup was dishwater and tasteless. The Ham & Cheese Toastie was a “Joke” ( Cheese not Melted ….almost the consistency of a bin lid….tasted as I could imagine a bin lid tasting. Everything lacked taste and care. Sad ! The Staff!!! Don’t get me started on that. We brought the issues to the staffs attention and nothing was done. Not a care in the world. Very unwelcoming from start to finish. Our family have been in the hospitality industry for a lot of years and never have we experienced anything like this. Had the manager or owner came to speak with us with just a simple apology….then this review wouldn’t be happening. Learn from your mistakes. Won’t be back !

This used to be a great place but has gone downhill rapidly in 2023. Coffee is terrible. The cakes are okay but not great, and their scones used to be great but now seem to be shop bought. They used to make great soups but now their soups are terrible and for some reason they now make all soups with celery which I am allergic too. Also they don't butter the filled rolls. Finally, the staff have changed and are not as good. Overall, it is very sad to see it decline so badly and I cannot see my family or myself ever going back.

Lochend Farm Shop is situated in a lovely area of the countryside. The farm shop has tables available in the main building and a light and bright conservatory area. There is plenty of choice of food to eat in the cafe area, fresh vegetables, meat and gift items to purchase in their store. We had booked an Afternoon Tea which was delicious and plentiful. Included in this were a couple of savoury flans, sandwiches, crisps, scones and cakes. We couldn't manage to eat the whole lot but were able to take away the remainder to eat later. Most of the staff members we talked to were very friendly and helpful. We have been here several times in the past and the standard of food hasn't ever disappointed us.

The location is attractive with spacious parking and large interior. The shop has some nice items and the staff are pleasant enough. It is however a bit dated. It is clean and tidy but the old furnishings and crockery has a feel for the aged clientele. We had a pot of tea for two and a couple of scones. The metal pot , the plain white cups and small packets of butter and jam were straight out of 70s seaside hotel. The scone was nice enough but nothing special. It could be so much more.

Came here with family for lunch and we were the youngest by about 30 years! The serving staff were polite but we waited for about half an hour for 4 hot rolls. When they arrived the order was wrong. Two brown rolls with bacon were white and there was a roll with sausage that was seeded when it should have been white. We were then told that the bacon was very crispy, probably because it had been cooked for the half hour they took to arrive. The bacon was so tough it was hard to swallow but the children were hungry so we battled on. They were £3.99 each and over priced. There are plenty of available coffee shops and cafes in the area, try one of those instead.

Very disappointed with the value and quality of the food. £7.40 for a very basic panini worth less than half that amount, £3.40 for a tiny bowl of basic homemade soup, £2.40 for a cup of tea! THE GOOD - This is a terrific place to buy very good meat/veg/cheese etc all relatively local produce and excellent products also sells little gifts and etc THE BAD - Ordered two ham and mature cheddar paninis and a Coke What we received could in no way be described as a panini! Cheap baguettes (the sort you buy 2 for £1) which when grilled had been burnt top and bottom ( I don’t mean lightly charred as it should be). The so called mature cheddar was tasteless and not properly melted, I’d actually say it was probably a supermarket own brand cheese ( not what you’d expect from a shop that has marvellous quality cheese on sale) . The ham was certainly good quality tender and tasty although there could have been a little more on the so called panini When you pay £7.40 for a small panini you’d rightfully expect something of decent quality but that IS NOT what is actually provided. In all £16.40 and quality wise it might just about be worth half that price.

Metimos a almorzar. Lochend

We noticed a rack for parking bicycles near to the entrance too. Next to this there is a sofa, protected from the elements, for those that wish to have refreshments outdoors. To the other side outdoors was farm produce for sale.Indoors there is a fairly large café area and also produce/gift items for sale. Café serves the usual range of hot/cold drinks, cakes, sandwiches, baked potatoes, soup etc. We opted for hot drinks and cake - but may venture in another day to sample other items!! Wife was very happy to find gluten free cake!Nice, relaxed seating area - enough space to be comfortable. There is an assortment of items around the walls for sale - pictures, cards, giftware - mostly more unusual items that are not available on most of the High Street, a lot of more unusual food items also. I found this place by accident during a trip in Fife. I was going to go to Loch Leven Larder but stopped here instead. All I can say is it was worth it. It's a farm shop with a small cafe. The range of food is not great but if you want some soup, a sandwich, cake and tea it's as good a place to stop as any, and there are some good views of the countryside especially Bishop's Hill. The food is plain, fresh, and prepared on the spot. I had cream of carrot soup, a tuna mayonaisse sandwich and some tea. I passed on the cakes, but they looked good too. There is a small shop in te building too which carries the same sort of stuff you would find in any other farm shop, but the quality looks good. Lochend Farm Shop is a wee bit off the beaten track, but if you are driving past it, turn round, it's a good place to stop.

The system was confused with the lady first telling me it was self service but then told me she would bring it over? Seemed to be a lot of staff for very few customers. One of the staff sat at the table next to us for a break which seemed odd but not any sort of issue. Would come back but not frequently. He did have a garnish of five crisps. It was all very strange. There were four members of staff working and maybe that is why the prices are so high and the portions are so small. Dropped in here on the of chance of catching a coffee and cake.Although the restaurant was beginning to clear up for the day, we were welcomed, shown to a table and asked what we would like. The staff were very considerate to our requests and requirements and although we had to wait a few minutes the the food was produced and served quickly, efficiently and with a smile.Good simple food made better by the service

All sorts of Scottish produce and general whole foods in a little wooden cabin. A very handy place to discover.Didn't have the opportunity to eat in the cafe but enjoyed perusing the shop. Fresh produce, dry goods and refrigerated, may also be some frozen out that might just have been ice cream. I can recommend the bannocks, loads of fruit in them, and the black bin which is dense, moist and slightly citrussy but weight the bitterness of candied peel. Also sold a few souvenirs and gifts.

DIL and I called in here and bought quite a few things-cheeses, smoked duck breast, lemon curd and a pair of oven mitts amongst other things. We found the prices to be good and service from the lovely boy behind the counter excellent. We didn't eat, just shopped.

Four of us called here after visiting the RSPB reserve that's about a mile away. Plenty of tables with brightly coloured plastic tablecloths, also tables outside. Good selection of cakes and traybakes on display. We had teas and coffee, Banana Cake, Pecan & Treacle Tart and Hazelnut & Chocolate Slice. Drinks were hot and delivered to our table by Jason. The cakes were delicious and fresh. It was a Bank Holiday Monday, about 2.30pm and the cafe was quite busy, service was prompt under the circumstances. Lots of produce on sale in the shop part but I didn't pay much attention to this as we were on our way to our hotel for the night. Would definitely visit here again.

Called in here today with friends after visiting the nearby Vane Farm RSPB. Lovely location, quaint old fashion style cafe and farm shop. Good selection of cakes, pleasant surroundings, great place to drop in for a snack. Recommend.

The bacon rolls were OK but at £3.99 each and the mean portion of bacon makes them well over priced! The place cant decide whether its self service or not, drinks arrived without tea spoons and the rolls without cutlery, this was hidden away on a shelf out of view from the counter, along with the cheap catering packs of sauces.... The farm shop was really odd selling overpriced honey (£6.50 per lb) but the sight of the Elmlea in the fridge along side all the designer products was hilarious

As a reasonably regular visitor to the farm shop I do enjoy the food (usually coffee and cake). However, I was there on 30/12/14 and felt quite ripped off. Had a roll on sausage - tasted great and no problem there. We then decided to have an apple and fruit slice each. It was priced at £1.99 per slice, fair enough. I added custard at £0.40, the other added ice cream at £0.40, fair enough. I asked if we could get the pudding heated up and was told that it comes that way anyway. So thinking this would add up to £4.78 just think of my shock when I got charged £2.00 per pudding because I wanted them hot. Charged £4.00 to have it in a microwave for about 40 seconds. When I complained I was drawn to a sign mentioning this however this had slipped under a plate and you couldn't read what it said, and also to a sign behind the counter explaining this. However the print wasn't large and it was black ink on blue paper- not the easiest to read. That aside to be charged £4.00 to have two puddings heated up in a micro wave is a total rip off and unjustifiable. It goes without saying that here's a customer they have lost..

Found this by accident and did not regret it. A real find for customer service and realistic pricing in the retail shop.I hope success does not spoil this, as it has for others nearby who have become greedy. The fresh seasonal vegetables are so fresh, you can sometimes watch them being picked from the fields next to the shop. We had drinks and cake, which was very good quality and value. Next time we will be much more adventurous with the menu. Great people working there, who go the extra mile!! A little gem!!Try www.lochendfarmshop.co.uk

I visit here regularly on a weekend afternoon with my mum, sister, and niece. The home baking served in the café is delicious - special favourites are the chocolate caramel shortcake, strawberry cheesecake, and raspberry cheesecake. They also serve delicious coffee. The staff are very friendly and always very kind to my mum who is in her 80s and has mobility problems, but still enjoys having a good browse around the shop. The farm shop offers lots of deli goods as well as local meats, vegetables, and fruit. They also sell gluten free products. There is also a gift shop area - I bought a really nice set of large French-style coffee cups here and I'm hoping they have more in stock soon to add to my collection. The only problem here is that they shut down the coffee machines sharpish at 4.30 pm and so we have missed out on the cafe a couple of times, although the shop is open until later.Would definitely recommend a visit for the lovely home baking and the open country views.

Fantastic setting on a super sunny day, so used the tables outside watching the nearby gliders in the sky. The bacon rolls are wonderful, piping hot bacon and lovely soft (huge) baps. Coffee also tasted great The staff were all very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back soon.

We now eat here frequently - the food is great - get the sausages, served on a big soft roll - there's no fat in them - flavour is amazing! Delicious cakes & decent size mugs of coffee served nice & hot. Service is friendly, helpful & patient - it's a great wee place and we always find it the same every time we go.

Have to say, once you figure out there's no table service and go up and order, it's a disappointingly small bowl of soup. If you want a roll with the soup it costs another pound. Tasty enough soup but not worth £3.99.

This is a great wee place to have lunch - had a Lorne roll today and as a true Scottish connoisseur de Lorne, it's at the top of the leader board - tasted amazing ( Puddledub?), seemed like there was no fat in it and the chef hadn't stinted on the filling either - it was brilliant. Coffee was nice & hot and the cakes genuinely home baked - unusual. Service was cheery and a total lack of pretentiousness about the place, unlike other similar rip-off " farm shops" . I will be going back.

This is a little restaurant and shop next to Lochend farm. From the windows, you can watch gliders take off and land at the nearby airfield. The menu is quite limited and unadventurous. It is mainly homemade soup (good but small bowls) and pudding and cakes. You can also order baked potatoes with filling and burgers. The staff are always welcoming and very nice. The interesting thing is that they sell very good fresh vegetables, roasted (smoked) garlic heads and they have a small but good farm shop with a variety of preserves and other things suitable as gifts etc. I also like that they have a bookshelf filled with secondhand books which are very cheap to buy (proceeds go to charity) so you can buy some and also take along your used books to contribute. A little more thought to the menu would make this a much more appealing destination.

Have used this restaurant on a few occasions in the past and was impressed by the home baking and coffee. Lunch experience last week however put me off forever. Indifferent service, little choice, sandwiches pre-prepared and plated up with a few tortilla chips on top and covered in cling film - bet those tortilla chips were soggy. Husband's venison burger which seemed to take ages to arrive even though the place was fairly empty, was tough and served in a bun with no accompaniments. When he asked for mustard which wasn't part of the selection of packaged sauces it had to be brought from the kitchen in a jar. The coleslaw served with my salad was revolting as was the mayonnaise in the little packages.

This is a small farm shop, run by family and local people. My partner and me have been several times and have never been disappointed. We visit after a walk, and the fresh home made food is always satisfying. Much better and cheaper than the rip off tourist trap farm shop/gift shop/restaurant just along the road. Soups and cakes are a favourite, and the coffee is better since the Gaggia investment. This is NOT a tourist trap, neither has it pretensions to be a Michelin starred restaurant. It is wholesome, honest fare, and good value.

Appeared nice wee stop to have lunch but the food was plain - can make much better soup myself - it was thick salty and boring - also cost £3.99 for tiny bowl with boring small roll. NO option of spelt, rye or gluten free rolls\bread. Scones were dry and £1.85. Tea £1.90 Sandwiches boring and cost £3,25. Don't mind paying high prices for excellent quality food that is healthy and different but this was not so. Staff frosty when enquired about prices and bill - Suggest you give this a miss

Had a nice trip to the larder but not quite what we expected. Was disappointed in the farm section, thought there should have been more on offer, although we did buy some steak which was delicious.Gift shop has a lot of nice pretty items but quite pricey.Coffee shop good value for money and we enjoyed our cream tea. 8.95 for 2. Too much for us but staff happy to give us a box to take away.

I was a visitor to the part of Scotland and went on a recommendation locally...Prepare to be amazed at what prices you can charge for things you can get elsewhere for a lot less. The whole enterprise seemed designed to lighten you pocket. You would have thought that everyday vegetables that have not had to be transported, marketed or stored would be at least similiar or cheaper than normal - not so!! they command a premium here. Very little customer experience offered. I was very dissapointed and will not return.

We were staying at The Hydro, so decided to take lunch at the clubhouse on one of the days. A nice relaxed atmosphere, very clean, and friendly waiting staff. It’s just the job if you only want a casual snack.

Went for lunch yesterday with my parents and dog on arrival our table was clearly marked ours and there was already a bowl of water awaiting my dog I thought this was super sweet and thoughtful, the waitress we had was brilliant with my wee Jack Russell she gave him a few biscuits and attention he loved it. Service was quick and the food as always was delicious. Lovely warm welcoming place to eat out and we always choose here when we go for lunch. Great menu lots of choice.

We were enjoying a nice drink in the beer garden one sunny afternoon, when a youth started shouting & swearing at us because we were English (which was funny in itself because none of us are 100% English). The locals were appalled at his behaviour & the landlord immediately ejected him, however, it cast a shadow on our visit.

Almost 5 pounds for a cappuccino for which no order has been taken at first, for which you then have to wait more than 20 minutes, with a spoon and sugar missing and, as a highlight, a 10% service fee appears on the bill? As beautiful as it is in Gleneagles - unfortunately we didn't like it at all...
