When you hear the phrase, you pay for what you get, you can definitely re phrase it for this very, very less than Grand Hotel. Friendly staff and great location are the only good things I can say about it. When we entered our room, We immediately felt like we had gone back in time! This was the most uninviting, uncomfortable, and bleak room we have ever been unfortunate to have been in. The bathroom had too many bad points to list. The floor is so bad that it feels like you're walking on a rope and plank bridge like something from Raiders of the Lost Ark. The windows made a beautiful sunny day look like pea soup fog!

Very basic room. No bedside table..... nowhere to store toiletries in bathroom. Small shower unit. Rooms need upgrading desperately. Breakfast excellent with plenty of choice and red hot.

We have stayed at the grand hotel llandudno & we had a fun holiday. I know people are saying its not good but thats there choice. We enjoyed our holiday coz the hotel staff are very nice & friendly. The food which was buffet style was nice too. You can pick what you want. Breakfast & dinner was both nice. We also had lunch in the afternoon & enjoyed the sandwich & drinks. I love the fact that you get a balcony with the bedroom. Awesome to have tea or coffee on balcony & hear the seagulls. Also you can see the mountain goats. Entertainment in the evenings. Its an old fashioned hotel but i love history & old buildings so we enjoyed our stay very much

I didn't stay here, just had a few drinks and they hold dance nights. Starting 23rd July, weekly dance lessons will be taking place.

The location is excellent. Rooms were good. But, hotel Wifi was poor.

A little tired decor wise, rooms a bit basic, but nevertheless had an enjoyable stay.

Absolutely terrible would not recommend better hotels in Llandudno this was first time stay never again

Go there for the views from the restaurant. A proper English breakfast buffet. Rooms are also good

Rooms aren't too bad, showers are a bit small., The dining area is nice as it overlooks the beach but the windows are filthy and spoil the view. Food is inedible and tasteless, it might be a Grand Hotel but the food is one star...

Having used this hotel for approximately 15 years, and for the past few years, I'm now a regular customer. 15 years ago, it was dirty, smelly, poor rooms, etc. But you still had the most amazing sea views. Fast forward to now. I've visited 5 times in the past year alone and all I can say now is wow. The improvement is absolutely fabulous. Since Easter alone, the hotel is brighter, cleaner than its ever been. They even have access to the pier for disabled wheelchair users, via the new langtrys bar downstairs. All the staff are amazing too. Dont be put off by reviews by people who've only visited once or for a night or something. Listen to the proper reviews. Great hotel 👏👏👏👏

You can tell it was a wonderful place to stay in its day but it does need some tlc now. Rooms and hotel are OK for a night or two. Didn't eat at hotel so can't comment on food. If you're on EE the signal in the hotel and area is bad and the hotel wifi is not worth using but you can pay for the better WiFi but we didn't. One note to make is we booked because it was advertised with parking but it's pay and display on a first come basis as close as you can get. On an up note it's only a few minutes walk to centre. Would I stay again... only if I had to.

Scary dated hotel but staff do their best.The goats were our only bonus after waiting an hour to check in.

Overall an excellent stay in this hotel, thoroughly enjoyed my weekend here. Warm, comfortable, atmospheric building and in a brilliant location. Very very friendly staff who were extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The only downside of my stay was the quality of the drinks at the bar at night . Lagers and keg beers were in very poor condition and it put me off drinking there for the second night.

Very outdated but I think they currently making changes. Room was very hot even with the heating turned off no air flow as it was a room between the buildings not a bad place if you just need some where to sleep not bad priced either

Don't go in expecting 5 star the floor boards creak the decorations dated but it's wonderful place to stay with lovely rooms lovely views balconies overlooking the sea a in house bar and kitchen and optional breakfast and dinner it's overall a wholesome place to stay and a great place to start your day in Llandudno

Friendly staff, food average. Price cheap. The toilets where entertainment could do with regards checks not very clean

My one complaint is the dirty unkept toilets. One next to the cafe downstairs is disgusting and no one seems to car3. One in reception still has advertisements for 2020 on the doors. Toilets themselves on Saturday were filthy and 24 hrs later nothing had changed. I feel the environmental health department would have a field day here

This Hotel should be closed . you would have better food at a road side cafe. i can not believe how bad the food was. No entertainment . music machine broken down, no day time coffee or service. the bar had No beer other than expensive bottled beers, some of the staff did there best to try to make our stay ok, but the managers did not care, , Britannia should be ashamed to be the owners of this run down place. in my opinion, stay somewhere Eles

Traditional soup; meat & 2 veg and pud grub; nothiong fancy but OK. But dribks seperately at bar in other wind; had a buy 3 bottles get 4th free deal on so remember to ask

lov the hotel but the food is the same as you would find at a truck stop but it will keep you alive just.

We as a family went for a light lunch, jacket potatoes/sandwiches that kind of thing. The dining room/bar was clean enough although some tables not cleared. We could only find ONE menu in the whole room! We went up to the ordering point only to be sent away as the lady cooking and preparing food was on her own and said she needed time to catch up. We went to the bar and again had to wait! Finally got to order but no jacket potatoes so two of us had to re think! We asked about the pasta bake only to be told that it was a mistake on the menu and has never been available!!! Had a feeling of neglect, it no one really cares about customer service or perspective of paying customers and no desire to improve or do a good job. Very sad, sorry to see so many bad reviews on here and management/owner clearly taking nothing from them to improve...

We stopped into the lounge for a drink. Nice view of the pier from the balcony... inside very dated atmosphere with little to no obvious upgrades... unfortunate to not bring out the old splendour... seems like the name and the appearance of the exterior bring people in... after being in the lobby and the lounge... I wouldn’t pay to spend the night for the view when you can go there for a quick drink.

Good food and great staff.Afood is self service there is always a vegitian chose on the menu.Food is always hot

In need of updating , over priced coffee with no taste . Lovely views and in an excellent place , would be lovely in the summer . Not far from the shopping centre worth a stop . Staff are lovely very helpful .

I visit this hotel for lunch on a regular basis as I live nearby, I went in Monday 7th of August, went to order to be told we are not doing hot food at this time, (2pm) when I said it was my normal visiting time I was then told, Oh perhaps we are behind on orders!! I left and ate elsewhere, I emailed the hotel when I returned home, as there was no management available?, I have had no reply and I now intend to eat elsewhere as I will not be returning.

This is meant to be the grand hotel, blooming hell it is not grand at all! Came here as my nanna use to come many years ago so thought we'd pop in for a coffee! Wrong choice! First it was dark and dingy, had a strange smell to it! The chairs are held together with duck tape which was shocking! The service was a disgrace, you order what you want and they shout over to you to collect it The milk for the tea came in cups! Not little milk jugs, so when you pour it goes everywhere The hot chocolate looked like express drinks. Not proper chocolate drink with cream or marshmallows! The toilets were filthy!!!! Overall what a disgrace, for a grand hotel it may aswell have been a dingy coffee shop that you normally avoid Even my nanna said it wasn't what it used to be! Never again!!!

Went for a light lunch. Sandwiches and a cream tea. It sounded lovely, Thick cream and jam. The reality was squirty cream which went to nothing after a few mins. We did complain about this but was told they no longer did anything other than the squirty cream. We should have been told this when we ordered so we could choose something else. Sandwiches were fine. The large bar and snack area was clean. The toilets were something else. Nasty and dirty.

My husband and I had this afternoon tea with prosciutto bought for us a treat. We arrived and sat down but realised you had to go to the bar to order. The sandwiches were very poorly made on cheap bread. They came with a small selection of cakes and scones. Two plates with two dirty knives. No napkins or forks to eat the cakes that you couldn't pick up as they were squishy. No cup of tea came. Altogether not very nice.

The food hygiene rating of 3, which means it is only generally satisfactory sums this hotel up. We only went in for a coffee, and we were pleased that was all. It is a tired hotel, which has seen much better days. The staff were clearly disinterested and unmotivated. This hotel needs to have an overhaul to bring to back to its splendour. Any hotel, should be ashamed that it only has a food hygiene rating of 3.

This hotel is ideally located for those who want to spend their holiday on or near the pier and its amusements. My wife and I dropped in for lunch as we were passing. Although tatty outside, the décor inside seemed quite well maintained, albeit a little dated and tired. The staff were polite and we ordered soup, which arrived after a 20 minute wait. My wife's portion has been slopped down the side of the bowl, but the soup was tasty - and cheap, which may explain why the 'wedge of crusty bread and butter' described on the menu turned out to be a slice of soft bread and margarine. Although we don't intend returning, at least we suffered no ill effects.

Called in for a coffee / pot of tea to check out the hotel for a future stay I can honestly say I wish I hadn't

The Cafe Bar had dirty plates and glasses on every table. It is owned by the Britannia Group. A visit to Reception meant I was ignored even though I'd rung the bell. Hotel needs a lot of paint and a good clean up.

We popped into this hotel for a bite to eat at lunch time. Historically I would imagine it was once very Grand but by today's standards it's very poor. We ordered one burger & chips one scone and a pot of tea and one cheese sandwiches. The burger was rock hard and although the barman asked if we wanted onions prior to paying when it arrived minus the onions we were told they had run out. The tea cup was filthy, sticky and smeared all along the edge of the cup with a white film or coating of something or other. The cheese sandwich was good but it did not come accompanied with what should have been a salad garnish however it was tiny pieces of broken nachos. When we queried this they had run out of garnish and thought we might like the remainder of what was left in the packet of nachos. My husband complained he did get a refund for the burger but was told the manager wasn't available and they couldn't help because they had now finished for the day. The whole experience was awful we left feeling like we had created a the problem and should have excepted what we had received.

We called in for a light lunch as the hotel had lovely views over the pier and the beach. But everything was disappointing apart from the view! The bar didn't stock the drink I wanted despite being able to get it at every other hotel bar anywhere and the prawn sandwich was just thrown together on rather stale bread. Everywhere looked dated and worn out and the ladies toilets smelt of pee.

On the way to the cable car my diabetic husband announced he was hungry. The Grand was right in front of us an the weather being very welsh we thought we'd just go in despite the lack of curb appeal. Just a coffee and a sandwich was all we needed. In the 'coffee shop' we we're served dishwater, it was vile, I sent it back only to be served a hotter version of the first! I returned to my seat, and, whilst I know this probably was not the fault of the establishment, found a toenail on the floor by my chair, it didn't help! So the coffee was un drinkable and the food inedible. The seating area was shabby and uncared for and the loos - yuk!!!!!! Avoid this place no matter how hungry you are.

We were planning to enjoy fish and chips at the Grand Hotel on the Llandudno Pier but when we got there it was all locked up and not a soul in sight. So we walked around up the hill and in through the main entrance. It was all like a twilight zone experience. Looked more like a senior’s residence than a vibrant seaside hotel!

This hotel seems tired.Seems weary.In need of a re-vamp.It is an amazing old building and has stood a heck of a lot from the sea and weather over decades.An imposing pile overlooking LLandudno Pier.We went there for a bar meal.The LARGE lounge area is a BIG function room and is from another age.It has a faded charm.We had coffee on a small balcony overlooking the pier and sea which was SPLENDID.The VIEWS make this venue.The food was average bar food.Baked potato with Tuna.Very tasty too .Good value.Its NOT an expensive place.BUT if you want to pay by card,WATCH OUT!.They WILL take cards at the bar for drinks,but at the ajacent food service counter (Its self-service here) they WONT take cards.Overall it was an ok venue.

Stopped in here for a morning coffee as it advertised a coffee shop outside. Eventually found a small counter staffed by a youth.I ordered a latte and a cappuccino and the lad went to an antiquated machine of the sort that most places threw out years ago.

As we walked in the paint was falling off the wall. This is seriously outdated. The snooker room isn't big enough to play a proper game so that's a waste of time and space. Avoid or take caution getting robbed at the bar for premium sub standard drinks. Becky the inexperienced barmaid (who doesn't even wear a mask) gave us a flat larger and wouldn't change it had to get the manager to sort it out. Avoid even visiting this place for entertainment purposes.

Good food, but the lounge area was dreadful. It felt as though we were in a pub lounge rather than the lounge of the Grand Hotel. Staff a tad slow but very friendly. They were working to what they were given by the Hotel!

I had a voucher for 1/2 price afternoon tea

We called in for morning coffee and was quite surprised at how nicely the lounge had been refurbished. Service was good, but why is it necessary to have the television on and background music as well. It really was an assault on the ear drums.

Popped into the Grand hotel bar/café at 1130hrs today (Sunday), order food plus pot of tea and a pint of fizzy orange, I was advised by the bar manager that he couldn't serve me the fizzy orange as they don't sell it on the café side and that he couldn't get it from the bar until after 1200hrs. What a strange policy and may lose them friends and customers. Settled for another pot of tea, all fine Inc. the price. The bar by the way is attached to the café serving hatch and only 4 feet away, still find this very odd very a hot summers day. We had the tea and food on the balcony overlooking the pier and sea, great view

Me and partner came for a meal as I'd bought a groupon deal, for a three course buffet meal with wine. Awful customer service, but even worse was the food!! Everything looked and tasted like it had been sat there for hours, I actually couldn't even eat it worse meal I've ever had in my life!!!

me & my Parents went out for sunday lunch. at the Grand Hotel. Personally I wouldn't eat there ever again. It was a bad mistake. the food wasn't nice. and my dad had to clean a table before we could eat our meal of it.

On a recent day-trip to Llandudno, the dominating presence of the Grand Hotel intrigued us, so we called for morning coffee. We were not impressed !

My meal at this hotel was very nice.Warming soup followed by a decent turkey dinner.The service was good too,the view is thew thing,the pier right next to the hotel,the seaview.THAT is the fun of this venue.

We were stayting in Llandudno on a four day break and came across the lunch-time bar menu at this hotel. We found them to be very well priced, the bar area was clean, tidy and welcoming. The staff were helpful and eager to please. I explained we were not staying at the hotel but they made us feel welcome and served a great plate of pate and a tasty bowl of soup washed down with a pint of bitter and a glass of wine.Great price too!
