sadly no restaurant on this site has survived more than a few months since departure of previous long term owners was a curse placed on the premises 😨?

60 Hope St restaurant. Hi guys, Probably most of you like me thought this place has been closed since January 24 - which it was for a few months, but now they have re-opened with a really nice Asian fusion restaurant called Liu Shi and also the fuzzy duck cocktail bar downstairs which is again is really good and also serves small plates/ bar food. We were there last night and had a really nice meal and great drinks. they are now also doing the famous 60 Hope St. Sunday Roasts like the used to before covid forced it to close down. We can highly recommend this place, The staff are really nice, friendly and attentive, prices were very reasonable for the quality of food they serve - but the place wasn’t very busy- most likely because people don’t know it has re-opened again. It would be a shame & a waste of talent for this nice place to have to close again due to lack of custom- So we recommend that you book and go if you can - you won’t be disappointed, we are deffo going back,

I read mixed reviews but decided to come anyway, and I'm glad we did! Started off with a few drinks downstairs in The Fuzzy Duck. What a beautiful bar! We were served by a friendly bar tender whose name I forgot to ask. It was very quiet and she gave us table service. The cocktails were tasty but lacked any decoration. So there were problems with the supplier, and that meant we couldn't have draught beer. There were lots of bottled and canned alternatives, though. We had the most gorgeous poppadoms whilst we were drinking, like a spicy apple chutney - delicious. Then we went upstairs and there was only one other table eating (it was early around 5 pm) the staff were again, very attentive. The menu is gorgeous, and we chose the crispy squid with chilli and lime, and the ribs. Both really tasty, hot and looked gorgeous. Then we had the aubergine and kimchi and also the seabass. A side order of masala chips too. Both mains were gorgeous, plentiful, tasty, hot and great with the chips! I will definitely return as the menu looked so good and the other diners were having the banquet which looks like something I would want next time.

4 of us ate here at 6pm on a Saturday. Was suprised at how empty it was. Starters of bao buns, ribs, squid and spring rolls were ok. Squid dish wasn’t generous. Mains: 3 of us had the Drunken Chicken which was totally underwhelming. Broth was thin and tasteless. One of the party had the Duck Cottage Pie, which was sparse on dick and very bland. We wouldn’t return. It just didn’t impress.

You know, it’s been a while since I left a review but I felt particularly moved to leave one tonight. The one star was for the service because the young chap and a few others who attended to us were great but the food was just about the worst I’ve had a any restaurant anywhere. In the world. Prawn crackers were, well, you know, prawn crackers. My wife and I shared veg spring rolls and squid. They were ok, nothing special. It was the main that was particularly bleak. The drunken chicken was essentially an overcooked chicken breast with some pak choi and a few inedible shiitake mushrooms in a bowl of bland brown liquid. Unfortunately three of us had ordered this. We asked for some soy sauce in a vain attempt to add some flavour to the dish but it couldn’t be saved. I scooped some of the bowl of rice into the brown liquid, mostly because I was hungry, but it was just about the most bland meal I’d ever eaten. Given that it was Saturday evening and the place was empty, I’d be surprised if this place lasts very long.

New restaurant with beautifully decorated interior. The staff were amazing and very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The selection of food on the menu was vast with something for everyone and good value for money. Personally I highly recommend the sea bass. It was delightful. The bar downstairs is very comfortable and relaxing for drinks before or after a meal. The atmosphere was cosy and fun where we stayed for the rest of the evening with no need to go anywhere else. Will definitely be returning with friends for my birthday celebrations.

We were really excited to come here. Unfortunately we were VERY disappointed. We ordered prawn crackers, while we were waiting for our meal, and they were tasty if not extremely greasy. We shared our starters, spring rolls and squid. Spring rolls were ok, very hot inside, the squid was a very small potion, but tasted nice. Everything was a bit greasy. 3 of us had the drunken chicken and it was so bland, literally no taste, I added soy sauce and it still wasn’t tasty. The rice was awful, like it had been cooked then microwaved. Hard and unpleasant to eat. We’d been looking forward to coming here for a while and unfortunately we were extremely disappointed. Such a shame cos we’d love this place to be a great foodie haven . The service was very good. I won’t return to this place and I wouldn’t recommend.

First impressions coming in, attentive staff, nice decor. Menu had variety, nice balance between small plates and main dishes. Drinks menu was varied but didn't mention alcohol free beers even though one was available. A couple of pre-theatre offers were a welcome choice and very reasonably priced. Service wasn't super speedy, but not excessively slow and we never had the feeling we had been overlooked. Staff were polite and seemed knowledgeable on the dishes, they checked in regularly to make sure we were good. I'm guessing it's newly opened as watching service it seemed staff are still getting used to routine. Didn't seem to affect us in any great way. We will go back as our experience was positive and any minor issues will no doubt be ironed out. Reccomended.

Noticed when booking that It Is a really small Menu but thought as so small it was bound to be good. We were however very disappointed. We were greeted by a pleasant young man and shown to our seats, if fact we could not fault the service. The food however was a different matter. The ribs while very meaty did not taste as though they had been marinated but just had lots of sauce poured over them and the squid was tasteless. The roasts were acceptable but lacked seasoning and the advertised naan Yorkshire pudding was not available. When the meal arrived the standard Yorkshire pudding was cold, the gravy however was delicious and the highlight of the meal. The drunken chicken was tasty but the boiled rice was rather stodgy. All in all it was somewhat disappointing.

I don’t usually write reviews anymore but this lunch was such a disappointment. It looks fancy in terms of location but the quality didn’t live up. Prawn Katsu looked like something out of a supermarket. Really quite poor for £16, char Sui bap buns weren’t the best, meat looked like a Sunday joint sliced up thrown in with some Chinese tasting sauce. My marinated and crispy char Sui pork is better than this. The poppadoms with apple was the highlight but even then had a weird after taste my partner and me couldn’t fathom. The duck and pancakes chips and spring rolls were all very average and to be honest is the same tasting as your local take away. There was nothing special about this place. Menu was limited and wasn’t a great deal to choose from. I can’t imagine it will stay in business. Aside from us there was only two other diners across the whole 2 hours. No atmosphete. Friendly waiter. But not sure he’s been lo my in the industry. Didn’t come to ask us how our food was. Which is a good job probably. Bill was expensive.

Two weeks ago, my husband and I visited Liu Shi Hope Street in Liverpool, expecting a delightful dining experience. However, we were sorely disappointed. The drunken chicken was dry and tasteless, and the bao buns were reminiscent of something you'd find in a supermarket. The only saving grace was the well-presented lady and gentleman who greeted us at the entrance. Despite their warmth, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant based on the subpar food quality.

Warm greeting but seated in rather soulless room with no other guests. Drinks order arrived promptly but food order was slow despite there being few other customers in ground floor dining room. From a rather limited menu I opted for drunken chicken which was OK but the chicken was a little dry. My wife went for chicken katsu which she said tasted similar to one eaten the week previous at a Wagamama chain restaurant. Overall OK but as it is off our usual zone (Castle Street/ Bold Street/ Chinatown) will not be on our "to return to" list.

So disappointed completely ruined our Mother’s Day celebration. I booked a few weeks ago for the Mother’s Day brunch, we arrived and sat down to order. We were told they had no record of our bottomless brunch booking even though I booked online and had paid the deposit, they could of easily accommodated our booking but the manager of the restaurant refused. There was very few people in there and they could of accommodated us for Mother’s Day but made out we had made an error instead of there booking system. I over heard the manager saying as one of our guests doesn’t drink alcohol we couldn’t have the brunch as all guests need to pay for the brunch. Food was average very very salty, definitely would not go again.

I was really looking forward to eating at Liu Shi but I’m afraid it was disappointing. Firstly, they need to heat the place up !! I was really cold and it wasn’t pleasant sitting in a cold restaurant. I think the fire went on when we were leaving cos a few more people started to come in. I didn’t think my food was very tasty, a touch of salt might have helped but they didn’t have any condiments on the table. The crème brûlée was cold I’ve never had a cold one before, it was horrible and I couldn’t eat it which worked out very expense at £7.50. Total waste of my money. Such a shame.

For the location and setting. I would expect big things, seeing as 60 Hope Street, used to be brilliant, this is the opposite, the food is awful, the squid was inedible, it was undercooked, the staff however, we’re great and that is the only plus sadly, the menu is limited and tiny, so you would expect, everything to be spot on, it’s the opposite again, it was just poor all over, food wise, the spring rolls, we’re undercooked also, and just not very good, the duck was pretty small and the meat was just not all that to be honest, I wish I could say better things, but I won’t be visiting again, it’s just a very poor take on Chinese food. You need a new menu and a new chef.

Sadly, I can only leave a 3 star review, and without the front of house and bar staff, it would be a 2. Lets start with the positives. Front of house staff are very friendly and engaging, and the cocktails are delicious. However when it comes to the food, it was all a bit of a let down. With such a small menu every offering should be spot on. But the food was either over spiced or bland e.g Hot and sour soup just tasted like a sweet and sour sauce with a lot of chilli and some tofu thrown in. Not flavoursome, just hot. I sent back my squid as it was tasteless and the flour coating had not been cooked properly. Some items were not available ( again bad planning for a small menu). We waited quite some time as well from ordering to the food arriving. I don't mind that, if you want fast food go to McDonald's, but when the food arrives late and isn't good, then that's a negative. Just an aside, I appreciate that this is a relatively new opening, but parts still don't feel finished. e.g in the gents toilets there is a picture frame with no picture in it, just the cardboard backing? I do hope that as the restaurant settles in, things get better as I like to spend my money in independent restaurants, but my first experience was not a good one.

Our food was delayed and we were informed and given some prawn crackers whilst we waited, this is understandable and these things happen. Sadly we did wait 25 minutes for our plates to be cleared and couldn’t catch any of the staff’s attention to ask for the bill. We sent back our egg fried rice back due to it being burnt. We also asked for water for the table that never arrived. The atmosphere was off and it just seemed things weren’t in control.

They welcomed balloons and bought out a desert place with sparkler. The food was lovely in particular the rib starter.
