Little Petra in Cambridge

I visited Little Petra for the first time today with a friend, following multiple recommendations. We booked a table, which is advisable as it gets busy, even on a Tuesday early evening. We had heard the portions are generous so decided to share the mixed meze and marinated chicken. This was plenty of food for two and we couldn't actually finish it. The food was incredibly tasty, with lots of different flavours. The service was good and food arrived pretty quickly, but we didn't feel rushed. Would definitely return and recommend to others.

If you want to get very disappointed it is right place to go!! If you think you will get there nice grilled food like usually Mediterranean meats are well deliciously grilled then well this not food you get in Little Petra. Before going there I checked menu if livers are served there/ me and my friend we are chicken livers lovers. Yes the had livers but despite on the menu card it says grilled- they are firstly cooked ( which makes them dry and crumbly and sort of grainy). Tbh Chicken and Lamb shawarma felt also like meat is first cooked then spiced but for sure not grilled as at least some bits would be crunchy. We raised liver issues with waiters and manager but they said they don’t char grill here - as you’d expect in Jordan restaurant to be proper grill with nice smoky flavours. I neve eaten cooked liver before when it says on the menu grilled. How crumbly and grainy the liver is you can see in photos. Service wasn’t great either and as you see from replay to complains here they don’t really care! If you want nice Mediterranean food there are better options in Cambridge that this bland meats- eating sald saved me. We took ale meats home and gave to pets as no use of that restaurant

As locals we have been meaning to go to Little Petra for a long time and we were not disappointed. The food we ordered was delicious and the portion sizes very generous and excellent value for money. There is a huge choice of dishes on the menu. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and this will not be our last visit!

A work colleague recommended Little Petra for a lovely meal. We tried it when I was down from Scotland and it was very good. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The food was delicious and pretty cheap for the portions. I wish there was a Little Petra in Scotland.

Frankly dining in Cambridge is not all that great, but this restaurant has excellent food. The chicken dishes are quite spectacular. It is highly recommended.

Popped in without a reservation and they were fully booked but cleared us a table for an hour. Great mixed mezze as a starter between three and then all three mains were excellent too. Very friendly and courteous waiters and staff,

The person who seated us was not welcoming at all. Person serving us had to get another member of staff to serve us and the order was still wrong. Bread served in a plastic bag. Food just very average, I regularly have better food from the local kebab van. Definitely won’t return. They are also impossible to contact via telephone should you need to speak to them.

I walked past this restaurant from my hotel several evenings, saw how busy and popular it was and decided to give it a try on a Wednesday evening at 7pm. It was busy. Service was swift and very friendly. I ordered Chicken Kofta which came with a basket of flatbread, a huge salad and a bowl of pickled vegetables. The presentation, freshness and flavours were excellent. There were lots of interesting dishes coming out of the kitchen and all the portion sizes were generous. My bill came to only £17, and that included a coke. This is a terrific restaurant with engaging staff and a lively atmosphere, a must go to venue when in Cambridge.

I have visited Little Petra a couple of times now. Once for business, the second time with friends. It is a welcome addition to Cambridge’s culinary scheme. The warmth of welcome and the attentiveness of the service team add to an experience that has tastes and aromas of the mid-East at its core. I can recommend the Mixed Shawarma, which came with a generous salad – though chips or rice were offered as alternatives. Others went for the Traditional Jordanian Moussaka and Lamb, which was the source of some food jealously; I may well go for that myself next time. If you are able, you should try the Jordanian wines. On my last visit we had a bottle of the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Sauvignon Blanc, both from the JR Classic range. I enjoyed them both. It will come as little surprise that Little Petra does its tea properly. My mint tea arrived in decent sized tea pot that was more than sufficient for needs. Little Petra is worth building into any visit to Cambridge.

Friendly, efficient staff and quick service. Great selection for vegetarians. Delicious food but eyes bigger than tummy - these are generous portions for the price. Will be back soon. 😋

Three of us visited Little Petra for a late lunch. Lots of staff. Very attentive. We had a selection of meze dishes for starters including falafel, hummus, halloumi and a yogurt dish with nuts. We had these with flat breads. Absolutely delicious. The main dishes were served before we’d finished our starters so it felt a bit rushed. A short break in between courses would have been good. The main dishes were big, they were tasty and very filling. We all had either lamb or chicken dishes. With a couple of drinks each, it was just over £30 per head. Authentic Jordanian food. We didn’t need as much food as we ordered. Would recommend.

Service was very bad. Food was worse. Food had clearly been waiting in the kitchen before coming out and it was cold. Meat in marinated lamb dish was poor quality and bland. Chicken was dry. A disappointing meal.

I was expecting a similar taste of cousins as Lebanese or of that region but was quite disappointed. However I can't judge it based on one Jordanian restaurant. Service was quite poor, we waited 1 hour to be served for food. I even complained to a waiter and he brought his manager to us and he said the wait was for the lamb to be cooked. The lamb was not only cooked properly but also very chewy and hard. The rice was tasteless and bland. The other dish we ordered was mixed Shawarma which was also bland and lots of fat in it. I am normally very fund of middle Eastern food and always find them very tasty and well seasoned but this time I was very disappointed. Plates were very small with over flowing and messy arrangement which made it even more difficult to eat. We did not finish the meal anyway. Samosa for starter (mezze) was ok but the plate was very small and awkward.Prices for main dish was reasonable but expensive for starters. Very confused waiters and not a good service. Seating was also an issue for us and we asked to be moved because they kept knocking our chairs but despite their promise they never came back to us.

Awful experience, the waiter brought the wrong cake. When I pointed it out, they checked their tablet and confirmed the order was wrong. The waiter said because I took a bite out of it, I had to pay for it. Obviously I asked how I would know it was wrong if I hadn’t tasted it. Manager came and said he’s down a slice of cake so either I pay for it or he’ll take it out the waiter’s wages! Disgusting place, would hate to support this type of establishment.

We visited your establishment a week ago on Saturday April 13th. You were able to squeeze us in in the early afternoon and as we had a long day in Cambridge this was truly appreciated. The staff , the service and the food was all amazing. Of the foods we had on our week long visit to London , your meal was the one I enjoyed the most. The spices and flavors made my palate happy. The food looked fresh but staff seemed poorly trained. I asked a waiter what were the sauces I was given in one dish however he struggled, his English was poor and had to ask a colleague for help. I felt rushed and a bit harassed. After finishing the food plates were taken too soon, normally more time is given. Also another waiter came to clear the table whilst I was not ready to leave. He had to wait for me to get ready. The restaurant was almost empty so no need to rush!! It's little details that staff does not seem to know and need better training as I felt rushed and treated a bit in a rude way. I am not sure if I will return.

Terrible food and poor service. For the mains meat was cold and more like shawarma, instead of fresh slow cooked meat, as per their menu. I was expecting proper Jordanian food however I was disappointed with the food.

Staff could do with some training! I decided to go to this restaurant on a visit to Cambridge after seeing Google reviews. I was disappointed by the way we were treated! We asked for a table for two, the manager said “why you haven’t booked?”we have only this table available we will clean it off for you ( a table next to the door that kept opening in the cold weather). There was another table I could see with no reserved sign on it which we asked about and was told it’s reserved. Shortly after we were seated, a couple of girls came in, the manager asked if they have booking and they said no and he took them straight to the other table. I felt we were not welcomed and treated differently! The food was average too not sure what the reviews were about. Sheesh tawoq was good, the rice was one of the blandest I had in my life, and the moussaka was nothing like moussaka. The mains were brought when the table was already full of empty/ done with plates, and we were expected to make room for the new course and manage the space! Overall, it’s an average place and I wouldn’t recommend it for a night out. It’s the first and last time for me.

Called in on the promise of good food by a Facebook review. And we were not disappointed. As the portions were large we decided not to order a starter. I had mixed shawarma, which was lovely. Plenty of salad and a bowl of mixed pickles came with it. My husband had the sea bass. Again very nice. But we were waiting about 40 minutes for our food, other tables arriving after us were served first. I can only presume this was because the sea bass was perhaps frozen then needed to be cooked on the bbq. The mango drink and the lemon mint drink were delicious. I noticed a lot of people didn’t touch the bowls of pickles. There were pickles on the plates so wonder if the extra pickles are actually necessary (. I did eat mine lol). Lots of staff seemed to be hovering around, as it wasn’t too busy. All in all a good experience and we will definitely be back

This was a fantastic experience. Service attentive but not intrusive, food BRILLIANT, very vibrant, busy and buzzing. We really enjoyed it.

Arrived without a booking, informing us that they were fully booked, although they managed to find us a table. A few minutes after we were sitted, they were really pressing us to order even we weren’t ready. I informed the first staff, that we needed more time, after 2 minutes another person came and wanted to take the order, even it was obvious that we were still looking at the menu. The menu has 5-6 pages and many options for someone who is not familiar with their traditional cuisine and afterall we went there to eat and enjoy our time, not get stressed and mistreated. When I went to pay- I assume it was the manager or the owner asking me how was everything- I told him that everything was fine, but I expected the stuffed vine leaves to be homemade and he very ironically and aggressively tried to convince me that they were. I really had a very bad costumer service experience. I am not leaving this review about the food, because as I mentioned I’m not familiar with this cuisine. However, a good costumer service experience is beyond everyone’s expectations.
