Little India in North West Leicestershire

We have deliveries from here before, it's hot. Good, and very fast, compliments to the driver, as I expect it's always busy because of how amazing it is! Would recommend to anybody. We've dined in there before, and it was absolutely perfect, would've loved more mango chutney, it was perfect in every single way! If you want a quick delivery of hot wonderful food, I recommend little India, if you want a beautiful date, I'd recommend little india, perfect for every occasion!

I have often eaten at Little India and have thoroughly enjoyed every meal. However, last night it was THE best meal I have ever eaten in any Indian restaurant. From the poppadums and pickles, to the curries. Everything was perfect, full of flavour, piping hot and absolutely delicious. Can’t wait to go back already! Staff are fantastic too 10/10

Anis and his team always provide superb service and the chef is a great one. The menu is extensive and there are many old favourites on there but many new ones too. It's possible to go on a true culinary journey here. Always a good atmosphere. The staff have a real knowledge and passion for their menu and can offer great advice on what to try, such a refreshing change to see this.It's BYOB and they don't even charge corkage so it's a really delicious and affordable option compared to other restaurants who charge a fortune for wine. The food is excellent value for money. This is a true business model for times when the cost of living are sky high. Brilliant.

Went with a group of work colleagues and to a man/woman agreed some of the best Indian food we’d ever had. Friendly and helpful service too.

Working away alone is always tough, but this restaurant always makes me feel welcome even when dining along. Friendly staff and great quality food. Highly recommend the Sagwalla - very tasty. It’s unlicensed so if you want a beer or wine, there’s and off licence a couple of doors away which is very convenient!

Was initially unsure whether to try Little India due to some mixed reviews however after a friend recommended it we decided to give it a go and are so glad we did. The venue itself is small but pleasant enough, looks like there has been a recent refurbishment. Staff were friendly and attentive, there was also a steady flow of regulars which is always a positive sign. We started off with some poppadoms and chutneys which were tasty. We then shared a couple of starters, the chicken tikka was particularly good. Curries were equally delicious had a chilli spinach and lamb which was very spicy. My wife had the tikka masala which she enjoyed although I tried it and it was a touch sweet which I think was the coconut cream. Either way, service was good, and the price was very reasonable. It's a BYOB place although they serve their own soft drinks so there's a cover charge if you bring those in. Overall happy and we'll definitely come back.

Whilst visiting this area with my partner, we really fancied some Indian cuisine, so thought we’d give Little India a try. We weren’t disappointed in the slightest. The food was very reasonably priced, great portions and top quality! We were a little put off by some reviews but let me tell you, after visiting the restaurant, please don’t pay them any notice, as the food was authentic and delicious. The only small thing I’d perhaps add is some mood lighting, as the restaurant was a tad bright, but apart from that, an excellent meal!

Well I’m shocked actually I ordered had food it was good quality but no taste to anything popadomms different coulers definitely will not have food from here again I’m surprised it has a 4 star

Been living in Ashby for 7 years and it was our first time at Little india. We always knew this restaurant as a small restaurant but WOW soon as we walked in it was something else, refurbished modern sleek restaurant with a stunning menu. We was recommended by our neighbours that use Little India every week for takeaways and highly spoke about these guys and I must say I agree! The food and service was the BEST! The lads are very polite and recommend you dishes that you won’t find anywhere in Ashby(or other places infact!). They have a wide selection of Dine in dishes only that will surprise you. Very clean restaurant nice and neat and very professional staff. Thumbs up to the management They sell soft drinks only but you can byob and the best part is there’s no charge for bringing your own alcohol. glasses, corkscrew all provided for free. We will be returning and we are really sorry to our usual curry house in Ashby. But Little India has just hit the spot!!

Consistently good food and service

This was a late Friday night takeaway. The mango chicken my wife ordered with boiled rice was disappointing but ok. The lamb biryani that came without any sauce was utterly dreadful. Basically it was inedible and I ended up going to a local chip shop just before it closed through necessity. Never again will I go to Little India it ruined our evening! Some reviews you read sound like a bit of a rant but this was the worst ever. Friday 4th Aug 23.

WOW just back from date night with my husband and we have both had a wonderful evening, the food was amazing (best Indian around) staff are super friendly and helpful, couldn’t do enough for us. If you are going to try anything give the LE65 a try it was amazing!!!

An amazing menu. Delicious food and it's very reasonably priced too. Comfortable tables and chairs . A family business that understands the modern economy and what diners need and what in these times .Superb.

Visited with family and had some wonderful food. I tried the Nargisi kebab and Chicken Madras. I can definitely recommend this restaurant.

Fantastic restaurant on the Ashby High street. It’s sad to see the decline of Indian restaurants around Ashby and other towns these days but this place is fantastic, definately gives other restaurants a run for their money! Food was delicious, came as a group of 4 all tried something different, each dish came fresh pipping hot and flavourful. Service was very good too . Looking forward to visiting again with the other half. Great stuff fellas

We recently moved into Ashby and we found our spot! Little India!! Food was beautiful, me and my partner really enjoyed our meals they have exclusive dishes only for dining in. Really smart place nice and clean with a 5* food hygiene we love it!! The service was 10/10 really smart waiters very polite and professional. Really busy place so it’s best to book in advance. Bring your own alcohol as it’s unlicensed but they have soft drinks available to purchase at the restaurant. Off licence next door with a wide range of alcohol. First time and won’t be the last, highly recommended

Food was very disapointing we had signature dishes how ever they they were very bland and not any way what you would expect for a indian meal. only one toilet open for the whole restaraunt. very dissapointed.

We used to enjoy Little India, but standards seem to have slipped. I regularly have the "Tandoori Deluxe", but yesterday's meal was dry and obviously reheated. Not as tasty as it used to be either. Such a shame.

Great tasting food,affordable prices,quick collection times with 15% off if collected,very professional & polite when ringing to order,will definitely order from here again,lots of choices of food too.

I hope this feedback is taking into consideration and not as negative criticism. We had lamb curry with rice and naan, such a disappointment it was. Curry was not spicy at all, sauce was more like tomato sauce, rice and naan was nice. The drink we had was strawberry “champagne”, it was super sweet, we left half bottle. The place, it has been clearly remodeled, we sat next to a mirror that was itself covering a door , that did not close properly and had a massive draft coming through, so we end up changing seats. bathroom; temperature was like in the North Pole, obviously they are aware of the issue as had several heaters around the restaurant. Service was not great the waiter was confused of where sit us, as we ordered to take away but then decided to have it in. For our surprise the bill; we paid £15 for take away but because we decided to stay in they added £5 extra with no awareness of it, plus £5 of “champagne “. The space, cutlery, table runners are clean, even the waiters wearing a black trousers and vest with white t-shirt, but despite the effort of them trying to deliver a posh service, clearly neither the place or food is ready for. I will not come back. Ps sorry I did not take pictures.

Beautiful meal with friends. We had popadoms, starters, mains and a side each and it was £22 each which was fantastic value and we were all so full after. Each curry had individual flavour and it wasn’t greasy. Would definitely recommend and will be going again! Also, BYOB with a shop next door, so easy to get drinks if you forget.

This Indian restaurant really is THE BEST!! The service, portion sizes, quality of taste and all round experience is one of a kind! I have been to many Indian restaurants and this tops them all. Taking your own drinks is also a bonus for me too. I wouldn’t go anywhere else- I LOVE it!!

I've always enjoyed coming here as the food is very good, but of late I find my experience depends on what staff are waiting on, when asking for certain extras or a sauce to be changed there is a charge..You might say there should be, after giving a genorous tip on every visit I do not expect these charges for a very small pot of lime pickle or a £3.00 extra charge for a change of sauce, nothing extra may I state as your response makes out we got charged for extra sauce..I also asked for just onion bhaji on my mixed starter and was told no, it's not like I was asking for it all to be chicken tikka that is obviously more expensive, so I'm going to take my weekly business elsewhere. Certain waiters need to take note from the happier, friendly and more accommodating waiters. ____________________ What a pathetic response from yourself regarding your poor customer service and greed.

Had the pleasure this evening of dining out at Little India Ashby. Got to say I've been to a few local Indian restaurants and this one has to be the best, by a country mile. Can well recommend.

Good Asian cuisine is difficult to find in Ashby. The best effort was made by Asiana Spice (and a previous incarnation a few years ago) a few doors up the road, whatever happened to them? Anyway, Little India ... had a takeaway, chicken tikka masala and chicken pathia. Both were essentially the same dish, in flavour, presentation and neither were as they should be. CTM ... each place has a different interpretation admittedly but Little India's naff ... chicken not marinaded, lacking flavour, sauce sweet and lacking spices ... poor effort of a very basic dish. Pathia is an interesting dish, full of flavour, with heat, sweetness and a sour edge ... Little India decided to do naff, bland, no heat, no sour ... "hey let's just do 2 x CTM, who will find out?!" I can't believe the people of Ashby are so easily pleased and misled by poor flavour and bland food ... the more people accept this shizzle, things won't change ... Do we not deserve great food and high quality? Ashby could be a place for delicious, destination food, worth travelling for ... some may not agree but I'd travel for the Bulls Head Repton, Je Ja Jees used to be good, not been for years, Taj Mahal in Leicester was THE place for a great curry, sadly no longer here ... the Island takeaway in Wolverhampton has the best Fish, chips and Irish curry sauce ever ... similarly Oregano's pizza in Wolves is also ace .... So yes I'd travel for this food .... I was in Ashby and sad to see Asiana Spice no longer there, I now realise I wouldnt travel 20 metres down the road for Little India **** Little India have replied … hurray! Extensive reply - great! Sadly not really addressing the problem. Words are one thing, improving the food is another. Less time on Google, more time in the kitchen, working on the food. Presentation does not refer to plate or dumped in a bag no … ingredients, spices, basics. So yes both dishes were very similar. I know what dishes typically taste like and subtleties involved. I’m def not going to teach you to cook, that’s the principle behind paying professionals - in theory to do the job better than me … you didn’t, hence the review. And yes the tendency is to share bad experiences morso than good ones … sadly that’s the way social media works. Great places spread by word of mouth and we take good experiences far more readily than we do bad ones. So yes … reviews do work that way. Bingo. However, don’t take offence, don’t throw idle accusations and be ‘funny’ take it on the chin that someone wasn’t happy and determine to cook food that no one can legitimately complain about. Simple solution. And that CTM did not have marinated chicken in. The pathia lacked only three things … sweet, sour and a little heat … you know, the things that make the dish a pathia!

Four of us went in the restaurant last night. What can I say. The food was lovely. Got to be the best Indian in Ashby. The staff were lovely. Couldn't fault anything. Can't wait to go back. Plus bring your own alcohol is an extra bonus.

6 of us booked a table for 8pm. They lost the booking and made us wait for a table! When we did get seated, the service was so slow and the restaurant was not anywhere near full! They gave us a bit of a discount when we complained at 10:30 but no apology. They just stated that they were busy with takeaways! If that’s the case now, then just do takeaways. We will not be returning anytime soon!!

Has to be the best Naan bread and freshest poppadoms ever ! I love unlicensed as keeps things affordable and focus on offering excellent food. The Mon to weds 3 course special menu is beautiful.

The only nice thing I can say is the service is wonderful- However it’s awful food! - they actually purée the curry gravy like as if you’re eating nursing home food - who does that?? - The chicken breast was rubbery - Thank god I can cook! If y’all are a local you’ll love it- others who actually know what Indian food is - keep walking- FAST! Ps. In reply to the owners response I stand firm in my review - and I’d never actually- complain to the server- I let my money do the talking and just not go back - sad that folks actually think this is real Indian food - sorry not sorry -

SHOCKED! We arrived late without an apology and were horrified to be greeted with open arms, a smile and a very accommodating attitude. After being seated and having our order efficiently taken, we were then mortified when the correct dishes arrived piping hot. To add insult to injury, the portions were very adequate and absolutely delicious. In this day and age when our BMI's and general well being is so important, restaurants offering generous portions of scrumptious food should be monitored more closely. We shall be returning next week to continue more detailed research and we highly recommend you do the same!

Takeaways... . I got bored of items continually missing from the bag or wrong. Usually it was missing dips with the pops. On the last order the naan wasn't the type I requested and paid for. Food is actually good. It's a shame whoever bags the food up doesn't check.

Really delicious food - particularly impressed with vegetarian dish which still tasted so fresh and not a hint of overcooked soggy vegetables! Would definitely go again and want to try all the menu! So much choice and really clearly labelled about allergens!

Sad to say we were really disappointed. Booked well ahead and paid £5 pet head deposit. However it was clear that priority was being given to takeaways. We waited 1.5 hours for our main meal. Waiters apologetic etc however this didn't make up for what we'd hoped was going to be a great night.

Totally agree with Colin Jones about his review on New Year's Eve 2021. Appalling!! We left. Feel sorry for Colin and his family, company after 20years of support to this restaurant. 💔 Stop treating people like this Little India. Concentrate on takeouts or your restaurant customer's, you can't do both.

We were let down badly on New Year's eve after supporting you for the last 20 years! It was a total desaster! Waiting 2 hours for our meal is not acceptable! I question if you should not have opened the restaurant side and just done takeaway only?

Terrible. Promises of delivery about 1hour. It took 3 hours and delivered cold with no apologies or explanation. A treat totally ruined. Thanks but no thanks Little India. I will never be using you again. My recommendation would be to steer well clear of this shambolick restaurant and go elsewhere.

Unusually poor service on Saturday night

This was my first visit,it was lovely food and lovely staff we will definitely come back.

First time visiting after alterations, we certainly weren't disappointed, the service was great they took time in explaining the dishes, as our friends were unsure what to eat, and the food was fantastic, it will be sooner rather than later when we will be returning. Thank you 👍

Can't rave enough about the staff, food, decor and service. We've never had a complaint to make yet! Nothing is too much trouble and anything can be tweaked to suit your tastes- what's not to love?!

Beautiful restaurant and wonderful food - fantastic value

I have liked this restaurant for a while, but a recent facelift makes it even nicer. Very helpful and friendly staff and the food is very good. We had two meat eaters and two vegans on Saturday night and everyone found a great starter and main. Bring your own alcoholic drinks is quite appealing and a real money saver. The Co-op next door is very handy! Highly recommended.

In the area do thought we would give it a try. Ambience is excellent staff attentive and polite the food was excellent. We had the early week Curry club menu poppadom and sides , mixed starter main course and rice or nan for £14.95. The main course was not reduced in size in any way and a nice choice with the starter would go back but a 400 mile round trip would be a bit excessive will definetly use if in the area.

Just been extended, so a bit easier to get a booking when you want. The food was fantastic. We all had starters and mains, couldn't fault it. My belly was so full afterwards I couldn't drink any beer afterwards. Looking forward to visiting again soon. 5*

Visited for the first time last night. It was a lovely experience. Polite staff, beautiful surroundings but the best thing was the food. Absolutely gorgeous. Can't wait to visit again. Definitely will be our go to Indian in future.

What a fantastic addition to Ashby. The food was fabulous and the staff were brilliant. Better than we expected to be honest. Fresh tasty food and a great menu. We ate in on a Saturday evening and the atmosphere was lovely. New decor has been carefully thought out and looks great. We will be back.

I’ve been back to Little India for the first time since lockdown. What fantastic food and service. The restaurant has been completely refurbished and is now much larger. Definitely recommended to others.

Great Food as always. Always hot and Fresh. Only disappointment is they only take cash which means extra journey to ATM to get the money. But the food makes up for it!

Just had my first takeaway from Little India. Absolutely delicious. Fresh and authentic flavours, perfectly spiced and no artificial colouring anywhere. Definitely recommend.

Impeccable service. Had several deliveries from them. Things can get complicated when living in two countries and I was confused on the strength to order. When I let the manager (Imran) know our delivered dishes were bland he sent replacements the same night. He said he wants all his customers to be happy. Nice staff, great meat/food. They deliver in a reasonable time frame,too. Tip: when ordering, ask what “heat” you should get according to your preference. We like it “Indian hot.” Unfortunately restaurants have had to adjust their dishes according to the palate of UK/USA residents.

Spot on fantastic food, beautifully presented and cooked and plenty of choice would definitely re visit. In the current circumstances COVID-19 they were absolutely spot on as soon as someone left new table cloth, sanitised and cleaned plus throw away menu's..

When we moved to Ashby a couple of years ago we visited Little India and always enjoyed the food Then we had a couple of takeaways which my wife was not impressed with So we started trying other establishments and even travelling to our previous favourite curry restaurant in Atherstone However I managed to persuade my wife to give it another try We asked Imran to recommend some dishes and he suggested North Indian Chilli Chicken for me and Tawa Chicken Tikka for my wife Both were delicious my wife even said Wow praise indeed We intend to make Little India our local curry house from now on

Be to little India twice and the meal was just as good as the first time. There was six of us there and had a try of each of the dishes and everyone was good. You have to take your own alcoholic drink but that's ok as there's a Co-op next door. They also do takeaway and home delivery. The staff were friendly and would get you anything you ask like extra chilli or less wasn't.a problem. Will be back soon.

I was looking for somewhere to have a small curry while my electric vehicle was on charge in North Street.I was torn between the Thai restaurant and Little India opposite each other.As a lover of dansak I opted for the Indian, and the meal was efficient tasted fantastic and the staff thoroughly polite. Remember this restaurant has no license so take your own beer.

Normally we go swad for our curries but the work lot spoke highly about this place so we thought let's give it ago! first visit for myself and I must say the restaurant is BRILLIANT!! the food was piping hot wonderful flavours, North Indian Garlic chilli chicken is a must, loved every bite of it. Party of 10 Saturday night the place was packed out with people and deliveries kept coming and going, says alot about this Indian. Throughout our whole evening we was amazed how well the service and management was, no complaints from anyone everything was swift and calm very professional attitude. Will highly recommend this establishment. I don't normally leave reviews, as its my second visit now while sitting in the restaurant thought these guys deserve a honest feedback. Only downside its unlicensed but to some it can be a plus point as you can bring your own, glasses provided no cork charge either.Overall brilliant food and excellent service, first and second time round. Keep it up guy.

We moved to Ashby around 2 years ago and tried all the Indian restaurants in the local area. Unbelievably the closest to our house is the best! We have now been going to Little India for 2 years now and we have NEVER had a bad meal. The food tastes as good as a take away as it does when you eat in. All the meats are fresh every day and there is plenty to keep you going. The staff are very professional as well as polite and very friendly. You can take your own alcoholic drinks however they also have a very nice range of drinks that you don’t see in the shops, so the choice is yours. Every week more and more people visit so I advise booking. Make sure you go, you won’t be disappointed.... ever..........
