Wonderful menu choices, spectacular food for all kinds of taste, genuine and friendly staff members, more specifically Ashley and Mavis, we were made to feel very at home and comfortable, so if you’re feeling a welcoming pub with homemade food, The Bulls Head is the place to go 😊

I attended a large family meal here on Friday 1st of November. I just wanted to give a special thank you to Ashley for taking good care of us, nothing was too much and she was super friendly! All of our meals were lovely and also came out hot which was great. Will definitely be visiting again! Thank you

Very nicely decorated restaurant and very nice quality food. The menu had a good amount of choice and the service was prompt and efficient. Good value for money too - certainly recommended!

Went to The Bulls Head for an impromptu celebration dinner last night. It was the first time we’ve eaten there in a couple of months and were surprised to see a new menu. We received the usual warm welcome and were seated with drinks brought over promptly. I ordered a Rump Steak and my partner the Lasagna. I didn’t like the sauce options and asked if it was possible the streak could come with some beef dripping. Our waiter (Dean, I think…) said he’d see what he could do. As an ex-South African, I do like a good steak but my expectation in the UK is low and even lower from pubs. But I have to say, that despite it not being properly medium rare (it was close!), it was hands down the best pub steak I’ve had in over 25 years of living in the UK. And the beef dripping was really flavoursome too! Along with the amazing onion rings and well cooked chips, I was left stuffed. My partner really enjoyed her Lasagna too - the first she’d had in a pub since being a student. Sadly both of us were too full to attempt any of the nice looking deserts. The not so (anymore) new management have really turned The Bulls Head around. Big thanks to Liam the chef, Amy & Dean who looked after as so well and served up a blinder of a meal!

Absolutely great food and exceptional service when visiting on 3rd November 2024. We had not visited this pub/restaurant since atrocious service from the previous owners, who we found out were now long gone. I can toughly recommend the food served by Sophie and Emily and say a big thank you to all concerned. If you had a bad experience from the previous owners as we did, please try visiting the Bulls Head again, you will not be sorry.

We visited on 25th October 2024 for a late lunch. Had a wonderful meal & the staff were very helpful. My husband ordered a steak ( he likes medium/rare but more on the rare impressed steak was cooked to perfection. Very big shout out to Liam the chef. We came back on 1st with friends for an evening meal & Ashley recognised us from the week before. When hubby ordered the steak she remembered how impressed we had been previously. She checked & Liam was again under pressure to deliver. He did just that & even brought the steak out himself. Well done Liam you're doing a fantastic job & to all the staff. Highly recommend you give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Visited the Bulls Head twice within the last two weeks and had excellent meals on both occasions. The chef knows just how to cook a steak! to perfection!. The venue is tastefully decorated and the staff are attentive without being too invasive. I would highly recommend this establishment.

I had the job of arranging a surprise meal for a large group of people and the bulls head were just fantastic. From booking the table to pre-ordering - to allowing the birthday girl to order on the day to not ruin the surprise. Once at the venue, Ashley was so helpful and just all round lovely to ensure we had what we needed and felt comfortable. We had 6 children in the mix from a baby to an 8 year old and she made me feel like I didn't need to worry and allowed us to relax and enjoy ourselves. A proper family friendly pub/restaurant. The food was amazing! Honestly, the kitchen did so well to ensure all our meals were still the best quality and all served together. And everyone was pleasantly surprised at how affordable it is to go out and have a 2 course or 3 course meal without breaking the bank! Couldn't recommend enough. Thankyou from us all

All pretty good. Food was well worth the money. My belly pork was v. good (although missing the red cabbage and black pudding as promised). Puddings were triff. Service was a tad slow at the end (desserts, bill etc)

The staff are so welcoming and service is great. Dog friendly too. We had lunch menu - 2 for £18 and both meals absolutely delicious. Garlic chicken skewers and chicken with camerbert.

Fabulous restaurant. Food was amazing. Ashley was particularly fantastic! So friendly and helpful.

Made to feel very welcome. Such a massive improvement from years ago when I last visited this establishment. The food was delicious even though I had a meal from the light bite menu. Very good service from the 2 waitresses even though it was quite busy. Plenty of outside tables and a children's play when the weather permits. Plenty of car parking spaces. All in all, a delightful lunchtime experience. This is a dog friendly pub restaurant, providing the dog is well behaved and kept under control.

Food was very good apart from childs chicken nuggets were a little over done. Staff seemed frazzled and we were rushed through our meal as they needed our table which we had been promised for a further hour when booked. We ended up having to leave drinks as there was no where to sit and finish them as too cold to sit outside, no worse feeling than being interrupted at a family gathering for a special occasion and asked to leave!!!!!

Had a lovely meal and catch up with a friend yesterday. Staff very friendly and accommodating, especially when hubby was table hopping due to the speaker positions 😁. The lads had steak pies and I had the light bite chicken tikka flatbread. All food enjoyed and puds too. My Malteser cheesecake was lovely. Would happily recommend. Photos attached....... the parsnips were pinched from hubby as he doesn't like them. 😁

Was our first time here food was decent and good size portions. Clean and tidy Service was a little slow but food was fresh and warm! Also it wasn't clear if you ordered at the bar or somebody came to you. But fully catered when asked if they could still do a small plate even though we arrived slightly after 5pm! Just a personal opinion due to eating with a relative who is allergic if pubs/restaurants are dog friendly they should also ask if people are allergic and have consideration of separate seating areas for those who do incase. Would return as overall service was a positive and food was good!

It was OK! Staff were working so hard. Food choice was abit meh though was nice when I finally decided. Update- lovely new menu! I had a flat bread that was yummy. I have noticed every time I have been in and when I’ve been seated listening to people arriving they are asked “have you not booked?” Which always leads to an awkward feeling that walk ins are unwanted.

First time visiting The Bull's Head at Abbotts Oak, went for lunch with my daughter and granddaughter to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Did not make a reservation but was welcomed by Ashley who found us a table. Sophie and Ashley took our orders and both were attentive, approachable and chatty which made the visit very enjoyable. The food was lovely and hot! Good portion sizes and affordable. The desserts were yummy so thank you to the chefs, Lewis and Brandon! Definitely would visit again! Well worth the visit. Thank you guys 😀

We stopped by to this local pub on our way back to London from Liverpool. The atmosphere of the pub was amazing . Great menu and the delicious food . Ashley and Sophie have been great host . Stronger recommendation!!!

Excellent little pub with a wide range of beers and extensive menu. The food was absolutely delicious. The garden is well kept with a number of kids play areas and bouncy castles.

Really enjoyable time, food very good, service excellent. Amiens was an excellent waitress.

My friends and i ate here last night. First experience for me in the pub. The service we received from Ashley was so warming and welcoming she definitely made it for us. I ordered a steak, it was nice although i thought the portion of chips and onion rings was tight! Ashley convinced me and my friend to eat a pudding, which we normally resist but again the bubbly comments from her worked well. Although the toffee sponge was dry. I would visit again as it was very busy so it must be a good place. Certainly need more staff in hospitality like Ashley

We had a fantastic time for a family members birthday. Ashley went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We also came a few months ago, unfortunately our order didn’t go through due to system freezing but Ashley made sure we got our food quickly and gave us free drinks! We will definitely be back x

Always a cracking pint, brilliant food, lovely staff and atmosphere.

It's a busy pub so lots of atmosphere. Light lunch was very nice and fresh tasting, plus the chips were piping hot and perfectly cooked. Huge garden and decent parking. Reasonable prices too. However, lost starts due to the rancid smell from the bathrooms which leaked into the foyers.

We stopped here for lunch on our way for a family trip to the Peak District. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the service was first class. We very much enjoyed our lunch, with lots of choice from a large and varied menu. There was a family fun day happening, so the atmosphere was lively. Would definitely recommend.

We would just like to thank Ashley and all the team. You all offered such a great service the food and drinks were fabulous very highly recommend. It was a perfect setting for mums wake and your team made it so easy and simple for us all.

Brilliant experience at the Bulls Head tonight, our server Ashley was amazing and the staff in general are all good people. Also refreshing to see a coeliac friendly menu which is a rarity! Food was great, and well priced. Overall not a bad thing to say :)

Wonderful meal on Friday 23rd August. Food was great and the attentive service from Ashley, Mai, Farah and Ephie was brilliant. First time we have been for a while. We will be back soon!

The staff were so so friendly and couldn’t do enough. Such a lovely place ☺️ Food was delicious 😋 we had the vegan pie and vegan Sticky toffee pudding It was divine The only thing I would change was the plates the food came, it was a little bit crammed together as it came in a bowl but besides that all good. Excellent service and great food

A very enjoyable visit to the Bulls Head this afternoon. After enjoying the sun in the beer garden, Philippa managed to get us a table ( last minute) in the restaurant. She was friendly and helpful and nothing was too much for her. The food was fabulous and would definitely recommend the flatbreads! Thank you Philippa for a wonderful experience- you are amazing!

What an amazing transformation. The beer garden has been refurbished, complete with an outdoor drinks and pizza bar and plenty of seating. The food and drink is great with seasonal changes, it's certainly the best salad I've had in Leicestershire! Always accommodating when you haven't booked and are a walk in. The staff are so welcoming with a special shout out to Sophie who was fantastic throughout my experience... an asset for sure! If you haven't tried it, it's 100% worth the detour!

Had lunch here for the first time today, and wow what a lovely place! We were so impressed, the staff were really friendly and helpful, the lunchtime food deal was amazing and the food was really good. Sat in the spacious garden, had a really nice atmosphere and will definitely be returning and recommending!

My husband and I love the Bulls Head! The young waitresses are lovely, so polite and attentive. They have obviously been well trained. The manageress is very welcoming, the food is great value and very tasty and filling. The drink menu is amazing for a country pub. And it is always busy, even early in the evening. That says a lot! The atmosphere in the pub is restful and relaxing despite being busy, the customers tend to be older (when we’ve been, that is) which makes us feel at home (we are both in our mid 70’s). We wish we lived nearer! Only (tiny) quibble is the strong smell of toilet cleaner that assails the nose the second you enter because the toilets are situated right by the door.

First time have been since refurbishment and was pleasantly surprised with what I saw. Staff so friendly and helpful. The weekday menu was absolutely delicious. Will be making it a regular place to eat.

Lonely lunch in the garden, fish and chips were excellent

Had Sunday lunch food was good.Lunch arrived after about 25 min was waiting for vegetables to arrive,managed to catch a waitresse attention after 8 minutes,vegetables arrived 2 minutes later .One piece of beef was small and thin and the other thicker and larger.

Ashley looked after us tonight ( party of 11), She was so attentive to the 3 children we had in our party and we enjoyed the excellent food and Ashleys first class service, it made our special occasion a night to remember. Perfect *****

Found it to be very cold. There is a fire but wasn't lit. The beer my partner ordered ( Timothy Wainwright) was undrinkable very vinagery. The last time we came here Abbott's oak beer was the same This is the second time this has happened we have been here twice in as many weeks but think we we may not be returning. About 4-5 years ago this was our local the beer was always fine.. What has gone wrong?

The kids and I had a lovely dinner at The Bull's Head last night - Ashley and Brandon were very friendly and efficient. I can highly recommend the rump steak, the garlic and thyme mushrooms and the cherry bakewell cocktail. My daughter really enjoyed her mac and cheese off of the kids menu, and the staff were happy to swap my son's side salad for some seasonal veg instead. We left full with big smiles on our faces - can't wait to go back!

Visited the Bulls Head yesterday with my Niece and her family and my parents. It was to celebrate my Niece's daughter's 6th birthday. The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough to please us. The food was excellent and served piping hot. The portions were very generous and cooked to perfection. There was plenty to occupy our 6 year old birthday girl after the meal, with a playground climbing frame and bouncy castles. At the bottom of the garden was a mini crazy golf course with clubs and golf balls provided (if you could find them, see attached photo!) Would I recommend the Bulls Head? YES, absolutely! You won't be disappointed. We will be back!

Really nice pub, a great garden if you have got small children, and the food has really improved since my last visit, which was 2023.

Exceptional customer service. We hired out the whole restaurant for a 30th. They went above and beyond to support us. Great food and a friendly service. We could not fault anything.

We had a lovley meal and were served my amazing Philippa.

First time we’ve eaten here since it changed hands and I have to say it’s been amazing. We had sirloin steak, absolutely gorgeous and cooked to perfection. The service has been absolutely brilliant, a round of applause for Mavis, Fay, Imy, Ash, and last but not least Brandon. We will definitely be back.

Went for a Sunday Roast last week, and it was beautiful! They catered for gluten free and I can't praise it enough. Really tasty and enjoyable. Highly recommend. :)

Stopped off one Friday evening during a circular walk around Bardon Hill. Very friendly staff and an excellent pint. Dog friendly and huge beer garden to the rear.

We visited the Bulls Head and experienced exceptional service. We were a party of 13, and everyone was tended to quickly and efficiently. Food was served altogether (unlike a lot of restaurants) and was so tasty! Amazing service from our sever, I’m not sure what his name was but he was very attentive and friendly. It was also a nice touch to receive a birthday card from the Bulls Head. 10/10 I will definitely be back ☺️

One waitress smiled, the other very not so… Mac and cheese bites burnt, chips were awful like they’d been reheated. Not value for money. Not sure why we heard so many good things.

If you're not a fan of Chicken then you may struggle to find something you like on the menu - there are 3 chicken dishes in the starters alone and another 3 chicken dishes in the mains, surprised there wasn't any in the desserts and the remaining items on the menu weren't exactly inspiring. But if that's what you like, then you'll love it.

New owners have completely transformed the place. Food was delicious and offered different options to a normal pub and the service was amazing from Ashley, Madi and Ruby in particular. However, all of the girls that served us were so polite and kind.
