Food was amazing, I loved the buildings' interior, it was groovy, service was great too, I'd come and eat there again.

Had an amazing meal with excellent service, decent price and a really cool place to meet up with friends.

This might be the best burger I’ve ever had! Everything was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Highly recommended!

I ordered the chicken burger and was really unhappy with it. Very small portion for the £14.30 price tag. Also tasted average, Popeyes in Edinburgh tasted better (and is cheaper). The service was also bad. Was standing behind the bar for 5 minutes politely waiting for the woman playing on her phone to notice me.

Stopped in for a quick lunch. The homemade hamburger was exceptional. Clearly a lot of effort to make the burger itself and all the toppings nice and fresh and crunchy. Very good value before 4pm as included free fries. Best burger I’ve had in a long time. Team are friendly too. Good job.

The burger was bigger than what I thought, but still a bit pricey tough. A simple burger is enough. The place is nice but quite dark.

I'd heard so much about the burgers but found mine felt unseasoned and bland. Hand cut dries were great though. Noisy inside too but fir some that's atmosphere.

We had a great time at lioness of leith! The staff is very courteous and welcoming and they have a good selection of cocktails and beers. Highly recommended if anyone wants to experience a cozy Scottish pub vibe.

The decor, music and staff were all great. It reminded me of San Francisco skater 90s chic with Leith no nonsense brilliance. You can't buy that sheeeet.

Visited for the first time with a group of local hospitality managers, the venue was lovely. The staff were weirdly rude and almost confrontational. We were advised upon ordering drinks that the venue closed in 30 minutes and said no problem we were just after 1 drink. 4 minutes after ordering our drinks, the music was then turned off and lights were turned up to full. The bar staff then started putting the chairs on every table more than 20 minutes prior to closing and even asked people to move and reached over a table full of people to turn off a lamp so they could close. We all weren't sure if any management was in place but all found it extremely rude and found the staff hostile and would suggest changing the opening times or closing process as it is not normal to make 5 tables feel unwelcome enough to finish their drinks so quickly and leave with that sort of attitude from staff. Disappointing as the venue itself is lovely.

The food was delicious and the cocktails are not as expensive. The atmosphere was very pleasant ☺️. Recommended

As a local, these are one of the best burgers I've had in Edinburgh. Be brave and try the Veggie burgers (esp. The fromage). They won't disappoint. Gluten free options as well. It is very loud though. Not recommended for people with hearing aids. Dogs are welcome.

Good food, nice cocktails, nice beer,good ambiance and the staff was lovely. Food took a while to come but we were told it was not normal, I'll take their word there were a lot of people that night. Although as good as they were the burgers come alone and you have to get fried and sauces on the side extra ? Me and my partner thought this was odd but we enjoyed our experience and food regardless. The breaded chicken and chicken burger are delicious. The service is friendly and friendly. The atmosphere is calm, dinner by candlelight and reasonably priced. Everything is highly recommended.

Casual setting combined with fun atmosphere and excellent burgers. The staff are fun and engaging, the music is an eclectic and fun mix and the topping choices on the burgers... Well they're fun too. (Mac & cheese on a burger, for instance). For a casual (yes, and fun) spot for a meal or a drink. Give it a go.

The food was a little hit or miss but service was excellent. I had The Future burger, which was decent if unspectacular. I meat was tasty enough and the bacon crisp as promised but the chips were pretty average and my partner's Mac 'n' cheese was pretty dry and disappointing. Nice atmosphere inside and it's close to the Foot of The Walk tram stop

The ambience is great, as is the service. The only thing I found was the food was a bit too greasy, but that doesn't detract from the overall impression. Can only be recommended.

went here after wetherspoons refused my assistance dog and I'm glad I did. food is DELICIOUS and staff are friendly :) particularly recommend chilli cheese fries or mac and cheese :)

My wife and I went for dinner. We both had a burger and a side order of hand cut fries. My burger, the Bohemoth was a ,monster burger with three great tasting juicy patties and some chili con carne on the top. Wow, we both left with the impression that we had just eaten the best burger of our lives!!!! Thanks a lot for great food and service!

Make the hipster jokes early. The Lioness of Leith is a funky pub at the bottom of Leith Walk that’s full of fun decorations – like parrots, neon and a pinball machine converted into a table. It’s a complete overhaul of the dangerous and dark pub that once stood on the corner. The walls have been knocked into large windows. In the sun it’s lovely and bright. I appreciate it’ll probably get much more gloomy at night. Staff and friendly and fun. The range of drinks is good. My experience, though, The Lioness of Leith has been all about the Sunday lunches. I’m yet to try their dinner menu because it looks so weird and posh (hipster, right) but half a chicken on Sunday between two with Yorkshire puddings, tatties, veggies and some lovely gravy. What a treat! Turn up for a Sunday lunch and be prepared to wait for your table. [Update April 2023: I wrote my original review when the Lionesses was just a pup. How has it changed? It's still great. Staff still friendly. It's so great it's super busy so book your table!]

Great decor, good service, Chicken and veggie chicken burger were very tasty but chips were overpriced for how many you get and quality of them. Won’t bother with them next time!

Food was good! Love the atmosphere and the servers are great! They had gluten free buns which is great if you are celiac!

Had to wait a long time for a so-so burger. Onion rings were inedibly greasy. My two companions ended up with terrible stomach aches in the night. Avoid.

Very oily food that gave me and our whole table awful indigestion when we got home. Who ever was in charge of the fryer did not know what they were doing. The service was slow and it took a long time for our food to come. Which was surprising considering the place wasn’t busy. The servers weren’t very attentive and it took ages to flag someone down to get another drink. Not a great experience for an expensive price tag.

Entered on a busy Sunday afternoon and did not notice the "Please wait here to be seated sign" at the door. Walked to the bar and asked for a table for 2 for drinks. The staff member seemed very annoyed and asked if I had spoken to someone at the door. I said no and apologised as I missed the sign and got a nasty look before they disappeared to find a table without saying anything to us. Staff member was very rude and put us off wanting to stay here. We left and spent our money at another pub nearby.

Excellent little pub. We went fairly early in the day, but I can imagine it being a great spot to have dinner and then camp out with friends for a few hours. Brilliant beer selection, friendly and welcoming staff. Dog-friendly and baby-friendly (at least during the afternoon).

We went on a Sunday and it was quite dissapointing. The burger was over-cooked and the whole burger taste did not have anything unique. It was a waste of money! The service was slow and you really had to chase them. The decoration and music were lovely. I hope they will improve their quality over the weekends.

We visited the Lioness of Leith last weekend and it was lovely! Staff were accommodating when I thought I had booked for 7:30, when in reality I booked 7:00 and missed our table. The food portions are massive and the burgers are very filling; definitely didn’t need the chips. Only grumble is because of the ingredients on my burger (think it was the space jam?) it went soggy relatively quickly. Still really yummy though! The coco/peach margarita was delectable.

On a cold wet night we walked a long way to find this pub as we knew about it. Here for a short break from Merseyside we weren’t disappointed, on arrival greeted warmly by the staff, probably the best burger we have tasted ( and we’ve had a few) decor took the wife back to her youth with great atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed the night and would highly recommend a visit. Well done everyone.

Very cool pub, great decor, comfortable and friendly. Good drinks selection, but I was underwhelmed by the food as the taste was average and portions were smaller than I was expecting for the higher price point.

We walked in without a reservation on a Friday around 4:30pm and were seated but it’s clearly a popular spot. The burgers, fries and onion rings (there’s about 8 huge onion rings so more suitable for sharing if getting as a side) The decor is cool and the staff are lovely. Will come back next time we’re back in Leith

We had a bar crawl in edinburgh planned… cancelled straight away after having thee best night in the lioness. Incredible drinks, staff were unbelievably attentive and genuinely happy to be there for us. Could not recommend more!

The Lioness of Leith is one of the best pubs for a pint in Leith and the go-to destination when in the area. It offers a great selection of beers and spirits, along with a very relaxing atmosphere. Regarding the food, there is room for improvement. Despite the good quality of the ingredients, especially for a pub, the final outcome tastes rather average, and the cooking execution leaves something to be desired. I found my burger to be very dry. The nachos, on the other hand, were good with nothing particularly noteworthy. In general, the reviews of the food at our table were mixed, so it's definitely worth a visit to form your own opinion. This pub comes highly recommended in the area and in Edinburgh as a whole.

Lekkere hamburgers. Alleen jammer dat je de patat er apart bij moet bestellen. Bediening goed. Muziek in het restaurant stond erg luid, waardoor je elkaar moeilijk verstaat.

Wir hatten aufgrund der Uhrzeit nur Getränke (Craft Beer). Die Auswahl war hervorragend und in entsprechenden Pints der Brauereien serviert. Absolut erwähnenswert ist die Inneneinrichtung. Ob umgebauter Flipper als Tisch oder die Tape Decks an den Decken. Einfach alles ist stimmig, aber noch nicht zu überladen. Das Publikum war Edinburgh typisch sehr angenehmen.

Whilst visiting Leith, we had our evening meal here. It's a burger place that suited my husband, but I struggled with it. I did have chicken in a basket, which was good. And the pile of onion rings we got was enormous, just slightly too much. The selection of drinks was good. I always like a pub which offers real ales.

Visited for a burger and to catch up with family. Had burgers also good selection for vegetarians. Burger was ok, was surprised that had to order chips separately. Service was very attentive. Dog friendly. Glad we booked a table as very busy.

Found the burgers we had no flavour in the meat patties😶 at all. Also £4.95 for a portion of fries,the Australian sever laughed when I commented on the prices. Very disappointed
