Four of us went for Sunday lunch. Food was fantastic. I had the beef which was lovely and tender, piping hot and plenty of veg. Cauliflower cheese, my favourite was lovely. Good selection of puddings. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal

Fantastic home cooked food and plenty of it. New menu is great. Had the faggots & giant Yorkshire pudding. Their Sunday lunch is also fantastic. Give this place a try, you will not be disappointed!

can't hype this little pub up enough, from the staff to the food to how quirky the inside is to a nice selection of beers and of course wine for me haha to the total atmosphere of the place. Both me and my partner had such an amazing night made special by wine that we like being chilled in advance for us to beautifully decorated and incredibly flavoured dishes served, garnished from the garden outback. It's the little touches that make this place amazing and food cooked with such homely love and passion. It has become my little escape place and will becoming regular diners here especially with such good value for money, amazing meal for affordable prices

went to the lion hotel last night with a group of friends for the first time for a meal, what a meal it was everybody ordered there mains and although we had to wait a while cheese sticks and bread were brought out while we waited. Once everyone had there mains out came two big dishes of different kinds of veg then a big dish of chips and a dish of red cabbage and to top it off a dish of dauphinoise potatoes. Wow what a good selection you gave us and at a reasonable price will definitely be back. Just one little thing maybe another vegetarian option would be good. Thanks again keep up the good work will be back soon.

But it looks great. Two distinctively coloured restaurant areas inside, which were very busy by 7pm, suggest good quality. Good ales too. Close to Montgomery, a charming little village.

Went for Sunday lunch 14 April 19 after reading reviews with my elderly Father. Exceptionally good food and value for money and reviews are correct. We will be back. Please note photo of Turkey dinner does not have all the Veg served yet.

Myself and my family visited last weekend on Sunday for lunch to celebrate a birthday. We found a couple of locals in the wonderfully cosy, inviting bar. We enjoyed a drink whilst we perused the menu which was extended for a Sunday lunchtime, it offered the traditional roasts but also pub classics such as steaks and gammon, egg and chips! I opted for the roast chicken. I was far from disappointed. I had half of the chicken breast on my plate (quite literally it was in one piece!) It was tasty and moist the vegetables were all fresh and more than we could finish and the gravy was what I call 'proper gravy', none of this watery stuff! It was thick and tasted great. The staff/service was wonderful, attentive and friendly. It was obvious that nothing was too much trouble for them. I would re-visit in a heartbeat. We all remarked on the quality of the meal and service and how unfair it was that we were the only 4 people in the restaurant on a Sunday lunchtime when they're doing such a good job of it. I understand that they are right next to the Lakeside Restaurant which does boast great views of the golf course but in my opinion, the food and service here is far superior. Coincidentally later on that day when speaking with a friend, he mentioned that he was actually at the Lakeside that lunchtime and found the food underwhelming but the place was packed! I'd encourage people to add 350 meters on to their journey and give this hidden gem a try :)

We visited with children and although there wasn't a specific menu for them we were able to adapt the meals available and it was no trouble. Interesting décor. Lovely old section pre meal area. Pleasant staff who were attentive and nice touches.

Stopped here for lunch and was so happy that we did. Great choice on the menu, we ordered the toasted ciabattas and they were amazing! Very friendly staff and good area for dogs. This pub has recently been taken over by new people and they have done a great job. Even if you've had a bad experience before I would give it another chance. Great pub, would highly recommend.

Wasn't going to go to be honest as I was put off by the name 'hotel' so thought we wouldn't get a traditional Sunday lunch.. However we did! It was amazing, and I'm fussy! Only £9.95 for a roast which came with loads of gravy and more than enough veg.. Almost like a carvery. Will be back again and again..

Great little local pub. Food first class as is the service. Lovely warm welcome from the hosts. Had a rough ride on taking over due to previous owners behaviour but their commitment to turning the business around is to be commended and deserves support. Jones duo Somerset.

Whilst walking the Offas Dyke walk we stayed at Caemwgal farmhouse and were taken here by Glynn our host. This is a smashing homely country pub. Our food was superb and plentiful. Service was excellent!! The barman/waiter was/is almost wasted on this country pub. He should be training staff all over Wales!!!

Very disappointed. Ordered a diet coke and a lemonade, the lemonade was initially just served from a bottle of Schweppes. It did get rectified but only because the drinks were made again in error by another staff member. With the food, half way through eating I found a chunk of glass in my salad leaves that accompanied a baguette. Mistakes happen so went to the counter to inform them. Asked if it was in the salad leaves & I confirmed. When the staff member returned she stated that the leaves were from Morrisons so the chef would be raising it with them and to leave the salad leaves. That was ok but the salad was also in the baguette I had ordered. No refund or discount offered which was poor as could not eat a portion of the meal.

What a little gem. Working away from home is always difficult, but The Railway Inn is a complete respite from engineering life on the road, and so friendly and welcoming. It's a beautiful quiet spot, fantastic food, comfy bed and great shower (what else do you need?) And the cooked breakfast is fabulous, and fuels you for the day. 10 out of 10. I'm definitely coming back here! Thank you to all the staff for taking care of me. 👍👍👍👍

Amazing little bookshop with a lovely cafe. Some lovely independent bookshop limited editions and signed editions dotted throughout the store.
