Booked the Lion D’Or for the 3 of November three months ago Only now to be told by phone call don’t know who took this booking but we are not open on Sunday very disappointed and perhaps you should change your website opening hours 😡

Es war Samstag Abend und es war den ganzen Tag doch sehr Intensiv. So entschieden wir uns kurzfristig für das Lion D'Or für unser Nachtessen, da wir keine lust mehr hatten das Cophorne zu verlassen. Wir wurden am Eingang sehr freundlich empfangen und konnte uns innerhalb 1/4 stunde einen Tisch bereit machen obwohl wir nicht Reserviert hatten sehr freundlicher Herr. Wir wählten für das Essen das Tagesmenü Rindssteak auf Gratis und Gemüse, dazu einen feinen Spanischen Tropfen es war sehr fein zubereitet gab nichts auszusetzen. Auch das Personal sehr aufmerksam und freundlich: Restaurant schöne Ambiente und Warm. Danke und ich kann es nur empfählen Gruss Fam. Weber

We stayed at The Copthorne Hotel before flying from Gatwick. This restaurant is really lovely. Staff have a wonderful way about them - so refreshing to be served by people who interact with humour and total professionalism. Food second to none, good wine. Perfect.

Booked into Copthorne for a night before flying from Gatwick - also left the car whilst we were away. Very comfortable and all staff helpful and pleasant. Reception seemed to be having a busy time, with only one person dealing - same when we arrived back funnily enough. Excellent meal and brilliant breakfast that set us up for the day. Car safe and positioned outside when we arrived back.

Always stay at the Copthorne Hotel when flying out of Gatwick using their overnight stay/parking package. Lion D'Or is a great restaurant - consistently good serving delicious food, with excellent service - our special thanks to Giovanni and Alina

This restaurant is located in the Copthorne Hotel which is located close to Gatwick Airport.We booked in to the hotel on arrival back from Italy largely to avoid the mayhem of the rush hour on the M23 and M25.What a delight to see a well balanced menu and wine list in very pleasant surroundings with a top rate Italian restaurant manager(this could have been Giovanni Q) and our waitress Alina from Romania who both looked after us so well.The Double Tanqueray and Tonic at £11.05 did not make me keel over but the price did and I really must get into the Gin Retail Market.Our food, A Prawn and Avocado Tian and Confit Duck Leg were excellent and if the delicious sauce hadn't softened the Duck Skin I would have left only the bones. Two glasses of La Maglia Rose PG(presumably means "Parental Guidance")were just right.Delighted to have such a good restaurant in this hotel.

What an amazing place!Having stayed at a number of park and fly hotels my expectations of the food were set quite low.But...They were wrong. The food and service (by Alina) were genuinely 1st class. Not overpriced, ostentatious 1st class but actually 1st class. Had we been able to book at reception we would have booked our next visit today!

I have lost track of how many times have visited the Lion D'or over the past 40 years but I can honestly say it has always been Very Good. At times over the years, it did for a while attain the status of Excellent, with extensive Menu choices and Wine list.Over recent years, I think the standard has been scaled down to accommodate the clients who simply use the Hotel as a stopover before departing from Gatwick Airport.

The Lion d'Or delivers one of the best restaurant experiences in the area. The Matre'D -Giovanni, is excellent in every way. Courteous, knowledgeable of the food business, polite and receptive, he will do everything possible to assure that your dining experience is the best possible. The main service is provided by Alina, who is absolutely wonderful in every imaginable dimension. She is lovely, efficient and does everything possible to assure your dining experience is a positive one. The food is above average but it is the staff that makes it exceptional.

I dined here two consecutive evenings as the first meal was so enjoyable.

When staying at the Copthorne,it was pleasant to have a formal dinner rather than a mediocre bar snack. Excellent service, food was good but not particularly noteworthy & it's quite reasonably priced. A bit of glamour whilst on the move but I wouldn't go there if I were not staying in the hotel.

Wow, why haven't I visited this place before. I am local to the village and keep hearing positive things about the restaurant within the hotel. I am so glad I finally made the effort to go, and I will most certainly be back! the service, food, ambience were outstanding, the price is affordable and a two fantastic menus to choose from, 3 courses starting from £24... Giovanni the restaurant manager was fantastic, he clearly knows his stuff and contributes to the entire evening for guests. There is a private dining area for up to 10 people which is pretty special, I am looking to book this for my wifes birthday. The hotel is beautiful and welcoming inside. I have been told by the hotel Events Manager Stephanie that Copthorne residents are entitled to a loyalty card which makes returning even more appealing. Cant recommend enough and defiantly worth a visit!

I went there with my partner back in December and I have to say that it was amazing! From the moment we entered the restaurant until when we left we could not fault anything. We ordered from the a la carte menu and everything we had was delicious. Alina was very attentive, professional and made us feel very welcome. The restaurant is managed by a gentleman called Giovanni who looks after it like his own place! He is really an assess to this place. I definitely recommend it to anyone, whether you are going on holiday or in the area... definitely this is the place to go!

There are not many fine dining restaurants like this one.

The surrounding’s are comfortable and inviting with a friendly atmosphere. Alena delivered a attentive and professional service. The Menu was varied and the food was excellent. During our stay we enjoyed returning again and again, to sample different dishes. Well done, We will see you all again.

I visited the Lion D’Or for dinner on a Saturday evening as the hotel is a favourite family haunt and it has a loyalty deal for local residents.

We decided to book a table to celebrate my birthday. This is the first time we had been to the Lion D'Or and we were not disappointed. The service was excellent and food was great too. This is quite an intimate restaurant and great for a special occasion.

First time back at this hotel in maybe 20 years- ate in the Lion D’Or restaurant and am pleased to say that the standard of food and customer service is still excellent! Nice to see Giovanni still as Maitre D’ - nothing beats experience at the helm! Good meal and hope to visit again soon

I tend to shy away from hotel restaurants, no need to here a very good top end restaurant. Table D'Hote and a la carte menus. All good. Reasonably priced

The food was good and reasonably well priced but although there were few people eating here that night each course took ages to arrive. The 2 staff, Giovanni and Oana were friendly and attentive, so we enjoyed chatting to them, but the wait was rather too long and we were getting a little impatient!

Absolutely perfect , meal & service excellent .

For the past 5 years we celebrate our Valentines and our wedding anniversary with our good friends who also were married on 14th February.

Mi compañero y yo comimos aquí un viernes por la noche durante su estancia en el hotel para el fin de semana.

Comimos aquí sólo porque nos quedamos una noche en el Copthorne en el camino a Gatwick y nos sorprendió gratamente. Para un hotel de cadena cerca de un aeropuerto, la comida era excelente. El servicio por Sebastián y Renata era insuperable, y si he vivido cerca, no sería un cliente regular. Las porciones no son enormes pero perfectamente adecuado y la lista de vinos era suficientemente amplio. En general, fue una experiencia totalmente satisfactoria.

Esta fue una decisión específica para comer en el Lion D'Or, como ya habíamos comido en la Brasserie. La comida era excelente calidad y un final perfecto para una quincena. Nos pareció que la relación calidad-precio era también muy aceptable. Si nos alojaríamos de nuevo sin duda será nuestra elección para comer.

Mi esposa y yo decidimos que habiendo reservado para una estancia en el Copthorne para una noche era más fácil de estar dentro de los confines del hotel para nuestra cena.

Nos alojamos en el Copthorne una noche antes de ir de vacaciones, y después más bien un miserable, húmedo viaje fue maravilloso para ser recibidos tanto cariño. Teníamos una habitación preciosa, como siempre, y habiendo reservado una comida en el restaurante, nos wended camino cansado. périphérique y Sebastian nos recibió y nos llevaron a nuestra mesa. vino y la comida eran excelentes. Elegimos desde la mesa d'hôtel menú y encontramos una adorable botella de Grenache-Merlot en la lista de vinos.

Nos hemos alojado aquí en dos ocasiones por el seguro estacionamiento en el lugar y la conveniencia para traslados al aeropuerto. Las habitaciones son de buen tamaño y están bien equipadas.

We stayed here before flying from Gatwick because of secure parking and transport hourly to the airport. This is an hotel with a sports centre and views over the golf course. The room was a good size and comfortable. We refreshed ourselves from the journey andwent to the dining room for a meal. The staff were pleasant and attentive. The food appeared to be local and freshly cooked., and excellent. In fact it was a very happy and relaxing evening to help us on our long haul flight the next morning
