Lindfield Coffee Works in Mid Sussex

Treat their young staff poorly. Cancel staff shifts with half an hour's notice when they know young people need the work. All due to poor management planning. It's a shame they treat people like this.

Popped in here for a coffee before going for a walk north of Lindfield. Surprisingly good place to sit and have coffee, a cake and a chat. The internal structure is minimalist but that's fine. There's lots of people on laptops, generally Ok except for one guy who was in a Zoom meeting and had a loud voice.

I should of written review earlier as it was amazing and five star plus! Fresh food, great menu, good coffee. Went today for lunch and everything is changed. Menu one on the wall, menu two with avocado toast on a little paper, and grand stand with stale salad and samosas and wrapped up in paper some selection with sandwiches. I didn’t see any sourdough cheese toasties. What was wrong with previous menu, so I can take my time reading it and choosing? Was very disappointed. So would give one star today, because it was like buying food from the van. Sorry.

Very good coffee and chocolate Croissants the drinks where really nice and I recommend this for coffee lovers.

Food was great tasted very fresh, the drinks were also excellent would definitely recommend if you are in Lindfield.

This was my first visit to this little gem in Linffield. Not disappointed. Gets very busy towards lunchtime so if you want to go for coffee only Go early. Roasted coffee was absolutely fantastic and definitely will be back.

Found this great place on a trip back from Gatwick try to miss the M23 traffic! so glad I did a real find

Fabulous coffee outlet tucked away on Alma Road in the beautiful location of Lindfield in Sussex. Chris & his team have nailed the perfect combination of friendly & efficient service with a fabulous selection of coffee. My friend & I visited today for coffees, & stayed on for a freshly prepared summer salad lunch. We’ll definitely be coming back & would highly recommend you pay The Lindfield Coffee Works a visit.

Lindfield Coffee Works is tucked away off the main high street, but what a great place! Delicious coffee and pastries, friendly staff and cool, contemporary surroundings. It’s a real asset to the village.

This coffee shop is like a little oasis in Lindfield. Personally I have found the staff always very friendly and am very comfortable going there alone. The food is simple but always very good. It gets quite crowded times so that is a sign of a good coffee shop. The staff do their best to clear the tables but at busy times this can be a bit challenging. the coffee is excellent and always served with a smile. Well done LCW.

I visited Coffee Works on 26th March 2022 with my girlfriend after a walk. The staff were unfriendly and brought me my cappuccino regular in a paper cup that was the smallest I have ever seen, for £3:10 really! Absolute rip off , Coffee wasn't even nice, Better value at Café Nero , Costa, M&S . I wouldn't recommend Coffee Works in Lindfield.

Friendly staff and quick service. New menu is missing the excellent toasties it used to have but the food is still decent! Always worth a stop in, especially on donut Fridays

We were disappointed really. there were crumbs and old serviettes on the floor. We had to ask for our table to be wiped down. The bin in the toilet hadn't been emptied . The whole cafe looks like it could do with a good scrub. Havin said that, the coffee was good and our avocado on toast was very nice

Currently in lockdown so only doing takeaway but offering choice of juices and coffees/teas and wonderful cakes/ sandwiches/ granola bowls. In usual times this a lovely venue to visit with friends and family or indeed solo. Cool, relaxed and buzzy vibe. Spacious. Child and dog friendly (always a jar of dog treats for the well behaved pooches). usual menu when not in tier 4 offers lovely food including avocado on sour dough toast, well prepared dishes with fresh, quality ingredients etc. Great place for meeting up. Off the high street so quiet setting with an outdoor terrace. It also retails its ethically sourced, amazing coffee (which is supplied to other businesses in Sussex). My favourite cafe by far.

Coffee always good, busy so must be good. Enjoy the ambience and interesting decor. Really lovely place to go. Staff always friendly.

The coffee is always good☕️ a nice place to sit and enjoy your morning. My concerns are staff don’t have long hair not tied back ! Which is a surprise to me in such a place. Staff eat behind the counter another surprise to me! and it’s very messy behind the counter visible when you stand to collect your drinks. Otherwise great

I have been a few times since reopening after lockdown and the staff have never been friendly and often ignore you until they are ready to serve you but the coffee was good so I kept trying until today when the soya milk in my coffee had congealed and I couldn’t drink it .I was out with friends so I returned later to tell them so they could check the milk and was told “it does that after a while “ I have never had this problem before but it is a hot day so I accept these things can happen . I was offered another coffee but rather begrudgingly and when I said no they didn’t offer a refund or a voucher or more importantly an apology and a smile :-)

Friendly staff and top quality food and coffee. We were lucky enough to get a good table and the staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable unlike any other coffee shops/deli's on the high street.

The Coffee Works is down a little side street in what is a stunning village. Suddenly this cafe, teeming with life, comes into view. There are dogs, children, friends nattering, solo workers on their laptops- an amazing cross section, and giving the place a real vibe. The coffee I am told is delicious -my tea certainly was very good. I would love to go back and have more time there.

I came in for lunch with my sister on Tuesday .After eating we both ordered different teas and two teapots arrived. My sister picked hers up and the handle came off in her hand exposing a hole at the bottom of the pot. Scalding tea poured onto her lap and all over the table. The staff were attentive in helping clear it up and reasonably apologetic . She was soaking and in a bit of pain when a member of staff produced a document for her to sign . It was quite extraordinary really. We had thought maybe we might get tea on the house but instead she was made to sign what I imagine a health and safety disclaimer. I totally understand accidents happen but this was handled in a very unsympathetic and mechanical way. Up until then I had been a Coffee Works fan but I have been left with a bitter taste and will be somewhat reluctant to rush back.

Really lovely little coffee shop in Lindfield, unique atmosphere and style and lovely array of beverages and cakes.

Went today for coffee and cake. Lovely building, lovely coffee and had a nice croissant. Served by really nice young lad only disappointment was they could not tell me which homemade cake was moist so went for the croissant.

For years I often bought coffee when it was ‘World Coffees’ - then, the Coffee was roasted to order. Since becoming a coffee shop the Coffee is now pre-roasted and you’re lucky if you get what you want. I find the Coffee shop pretentious and too ‘rustic’. Too much time spent trying to be a hip coffee/ bar and not enough on brewing great coffee. A real shame.

The lovely staff were really keen to get my coffee ‘right’. How strong? How big ? How many shots would ‘suit’ me. Really thoughtful and yes it was brilliant coffee.

Tucked around the back just off the high street is this modern coffee house. Great coffee and drinks. Trendy inside setting and very popular with the locals which is always a good sign. Great place to escape the winter chills and warm up in style

Tucked away just off the high street in Lindfield this place is worth seeking out. Great coffee, really friendly welcoming staff and a great atmosphere. Dog and family friendly too.

Went early morning. Too busy, mums and babies Breakfast small choice and very small portion although nice Ran out of pastries Wouldn’t go back at that time as no seating and doesn’t fill my large appetite

Nice venue for a coffee break in a far nicer environment than the overpriced and underwhelming chains. At times is a victim of it's own success in being over busy which can detract from the objective of a quiet conversation with friends.

We love this place - the food is great and the coffee is a cut above. Best of all is the atmosphere.... buzzy, friendly, fun, contemporary. The trio of bruchettas at lunchtime are a particular favourite of ours.

Tucked away down Alma Lane behind the off licence in what used to be the back yard, modern building with good coffee. Only went because I used to live in the flat over the off licence when it was an ironmongers and was curious. Quite noisy.

Iced coffee, bruschetta, chocolate cake. Loved it. Recommended to us by a friend and our first visit won’t be our last.

I had heard from a couple of colleagues that this place was good. One lunchtime with my wife we visited. The decor is fresh and original. We ordered a couple of coffees and we weren’t disappointed. It seemed a lot more flavourful than the big chains. Would certainly visit again

First visit to this superb venue, truly feels like an authentic Seattle coffee shop. The coffee, as you would expect, is great as is the limited menu. Highly recommend a visit.

Decided to try the Coffee shop as a few places seem to be shut for lunch.Every drink we appear to order was met with we don't have any left. The lady that serviced us was a little bit frosty and wasn't very friendly, told us that their were waiting for a delivery. The Coffee shop seem to have a lack of cakes too.Maybe a Monday is not a good day to try this place.Nicely done out, the trio of Bruschettas looked & tasted great, cheese & meat platter average. Food good,lack of choice & service not so good.

This place is lovely, it’s spacious and well laid out. They have an outside space and an indoor seating area. They do a variety of beverages but the coffee is the reason you come here, I love the lattes. They have lovely baked goods, theres something for everyone. Bonus is they provide chargers on the walls for your phone or laptop. Also, they are dog friendly which is great.

The coffees are great. The snacks are good also but range is not extensive. Could do with better range of croissants and cakes for short visitors. Really enjoyed the visit and will be back.

Amazing place, tucked away, but biggest coffee shop in lindfield, which makes it great for families. Lot's of people use it to work in as well. Very popular after the school run. Cakes are good croissants not so great, quite hard to eat, unless it's the Apple one. Healthy breakfast menu, hoping lunch will improve. Defo worth a visit, open their doors in the evenings for drinks, also do yoga workshops there which are great.

Tucked behind the high street the emphasis is on the coffee which is roasted on the premises. There is a limited menu and selection of cakes. Can be very busy and difficult to get a seat.

This is an excellent cafe/bar that was hired for a Sunday afternoon private party for my son’s 30th Birthday (they do not normally open on a Sunday)

We decided to give the Lindfield Coffee Works a try and couldn’t recommend it enough! Great atmosphere, amazing coffees and the lunch boards are really tasty! Well worth a visit! It’s a hidden gem!

Great place for all kinds of different coffees. The gluten free chocolate brownie is delicious too. Relaxing atmosphere inside and outside and very friendly staff.

I have been a few times to this gem of a coffee house. I haven't had cakes just coffee and it's always excellent quality. Staff are pleasant but avoid after school as a bit over run with the school run mums and children but hey there is room for everyone

My partner and I visited Lindfield Coffee Works back in June for brunch. This is a beautiful and quiet coffee shop hidden away from the main high street. The coffee is great, the staff are very friendly and the decor is very nice. There is also a small seating area at the front which is a good sun trap. Definitely worth a visit if you are looking for somewhere quiet to grab a good, small batch coffee.

Wow ! This is a hidden treasure - What a gorgeous coffee bar and so beautifully designed . On walking in we were all so impressed, and then we tasted the coffee, absolutely gorgeous, in fact it was so good I have signed up to sell their coffee at our new espresso bar .

The coffee is really nice and their own blend. Cups on the small side but who wants a bucket of sludge like the high street chains anyway..

Visited this coffee house with my wife. We ordered cappuccino and a latte, the coffee cups are tiny, and same price as Costa medium. The facilities& setting is great, but not much else to offer, minimal food selection also.

I've visited several times with friends now.

Coffee is their speciality but I highly recommend the incredible cake selection! We took our little dog, who was warmly received and petted by staff and other customers alike. Really lovely, relaxed atmosphere.

Amazing new coffee venue , serving superb range of freshly roasted coffee on site in an amazing venue. Tucked just off the high street, it offers great service, with plenty of smiles. Accessibility for everyone and generous tables. Small Patio area and Pet Friendly.

We came here just before attending a wedding in the village and it was perfect- great quality coffee, and a wonderful selection of cheeses and meats with great service. Felt like we'd really hit upon a hidden gem.

We visited today as were walking in Lindfield and came across this Coffee shop and decided to try it. The mug of tea was not very tasty and the mug was very stained and off putting. The coffee was not brilliant either. Together they were expensive. Children were very noisy while we were sitting outside hardly conducive for a quiet cuppa. Will not be returning.

Have only been in for coffee so cannot comment on the food but the best coffee around and it's actually hot! So many other places the coffee is luke warm but here it is spot on! Love the inside and all the staff have been so nice. Will come again to try the cakes as they looked amazing!

So if you are a Cyclist and looking to make a trip south from London aim for the Lindfield Coffee Works - its a coffee roastery with a Cafe attached - so the aroma alone is worth seeking out - for cyclists there is a courtyard to observe your bike and inside a great selection of pastries and if hungry great Meat and Cheese platers - the staff are also great and then there's the blend of coffee ! It's smooth and the taste lingers - so if you like Coffee make the Lindfield Coffee Works a destination

The coffee shop is different from the usual - very industrial in style but with wooden tables and chairs. The coffee is excellent and there is a good selection of cakes; however, I chose a chocolate brownie only to discover it was half the size ot those on display having been cut in half. The day I went it was very noisy due to a large number of children and a group of men having a business meeting. ( Unfortunately the design of the building does not absorb noise.) The toilet was clean and there was soap. Please don't be put off. I'll definitely be going back!

Enjoyed this place, the atmosphere is wonderful and we really enjoyed the lovely cheese plate. It would be great if the menu gets a bit bigger though. Lovely cakes

I visited with a friend today for a coffee, tea and cake. Initially we were both impressed. The interior is a very modern , industrial style , with a mixture of high stools, benches , tables and chairs, with plenty of space for pushchairs and kiddies .We could not see a large menu around the service area so picked up a list from a table . had to ask how much and what were the cakes as no labelling . My friends tea cup was not clean. I visited the toilet and it was far from clean . Very disappointing !

This is the quality coffee shop that Lindfield deserves.

Tried this new coffee shop back in December and several times since. Lovely interior, only 1 highchair, Lindfield had so many families, cannot understand why no where caters for them sufficiently? Luke warm coffee??? Very nice Luke warm coffee but still not hot, have discussed this with several locals all saying the same thing. Server didn't give me my change, it was only 60p and I felt foolish asking for it, so I didn't...but still. Has some very weird system if they are busy of asking you to stand to one side of the counter before they take your order, then they promptly forget they have asked you to do this and serve everyone else???? These have been my observations over several visits. Needs to be alot more on the game. Toilets were freezing and no hand wash on my last visit yesterday!?!?!

A group of us who frequent and ride out of a cafe in Esher, which also serves high quality coffee, visited here for coffee & cake partway through a ride.
