Lina Stores Restaurant in City of London, Westminster

I’m not usually one to leave food reviews. I don’t know anything about fine dining and I’m not hard to please. However, this was a really great experience. As a solo traveler, I can sometimes feel awkward eating alone at nice places. Staff were so friendly though and accommodating to me being cold and sat under the AC. The truffle pasta was so dang good. I may have to come back tomorrow before I leave London. Thank you for being so kind!

basement is a little crowded but nevertheless the food is really delightful!

Our lunch at Lina in Greek Street was great. Speedy service, lovely food and good value; a first-rate experience.

Delicious food but there were a lot of fruit flies about, the toilets aren’t very nice either

Al dente pasta. That says a lot about the quality of an Italian restaurant. The pasta with prawn was tasty and had enough prawns. It did feel a little lacking in terms of vibe on the ground floor despite being seated on the bar. All in all a nice place for a simple, affordable dinner.

Pasta was good, though on the small side. Watch out for their scam £1 "donation" for International Women's DAY that gets automatically added to your bill for the whole MONTH of March. Tax and Service Charge is then added ON TOP of this so-called "donation". Daylight robbery!

Pasta with shrimp tasted like the sea. The ravioli with cheese was good. Therefore, 3... but I would rate the service 5

The service is amazing, the two chefs and the host are super nice. Pasta Pici was amazing, also the fried ricotta. Highly recommended!

Unfortunately, the noodles were a bit undercooked and hard in my friend’s Pici alla Norcina. We were in the basement, which was quite loud and made it difficult to hear each other.

Went for a quiet, solo, Sunday lunch on 3 March, not for the first time I might add. Upon arrival, the server was preoccupied so I seated myself at the bar counter, the entire upstairs seating area being devoid of customers other than a middle aged couple. I ate my pasta dish which was served before the glass of wine I requested. When the bill came and I tried to pay with cash, I was told by the server - Celine according to my receipt - that cash is no longer accepted. So I paid by credit card and then asked politely what would’ve happened if I didn’t have a credit card. The rather brusque response from the server was ‘you would have had to find a way’. What? By washing dishes?…I wondered silently. When I questioned this hitherto unknown no cash policy and the fact that sterling remains legal tender, I was told again rather abruptly that it would be my problem to deal with if I didn’t have a credit card. The server added that the restaurant’s cashless policy is written on the door. At this point I asked ‘where’, as we were near the door and there was absolutely nothing on the door saying this. Now somewhat flustered, the server said to me, well I have nothing to prove, and anyway it’s on the menu. Didn’t YOU READ THE MENU?’ I dare say there is some minuscule writing at the bottom of the menu that my middle aged eyes had not taken in. When I pressed the point that this was not appropriate or sufficient to bring the cashless policy to the attention of customers, the server very rudely opened the door and said, ‘Well if you don’t like it YOU CAN LEAVE!” Wow! Unbelievable and unprecedented level of rudeness which had escalated at lightening speed all because of a simple question. Now I am apparently a problem with no valid point and should go. Off I went, never ever to return. I’ve since looked at their website and I see that their cashless policy is there but I did not scrutinise their website prior to going there in person. I’ve also seen that there are other complaints in TripAdvisor reviews about rude service at Lina Stores, Greek Street. Based on the experience I just had, never a truer word spoken.

Really good value for money. Had the wine pairing set menu which was perfect as we got to try a variety of the dishes!

Very helpful staff and delicious pasta.

Terrible. I assume the guy who I’m referring to was the manager, the way he was speaking to his staff was disgusting to the point where I asked to move tables so I wasn’t right next to him going on about them - also when one of the other waitresses was serving another table he was still calling after her complaining,it was very uncomfortable!! He asked what the problem was and I explained I didn’t want to sit right next to where he was standing at the bar having these awkward conversations, he seemed pretty shocked about it. When I then moved he called me ‘sweetie’ which was very patronising in itself so I said forget about it and we left!

The rich truffle-infused flavors and perfectly cooked tagliolini transported me to a gastronomic paradise. This isn't just a meal; it's a masterpiece created by the culinary virtuosos at Lina Stores. London is truly fortunate to have such a gem in its culinary landscape.

Service was attentive, portions are a bit small but you can tell the products are high quality. Will be back.

A tale of two halves. I have been desperate to eat here for some time. The upstairs is beautifully set up, but I was guided to the downstairs area which is nothing like upstairs. Feeling of old, extremely noisy and cramped. Service was very hit and miss, clearly not enough staff to cope or not well organised. Pasta was ok, but it was far too al dente and a very small portion. It looked nothing like the photos you see above - served on a small side plate and zero full shavings of truffle. If the main dishes you serve is only pasta, then you need to serve a larger portion. Topped off with a 125ml serving of wine as standard, and service charge on top, I left feeling underwhelmed, underfed, overcharged and quite unrelaxed.

Small soho site, friendly and intimate. Great to sit at the counter watching the open kitchen. Pasta is so fresh and tasty especially the pumpkin ravioli. Good wines to match.

Average service, average food...overrated. Tried the King Cross Branch much better than Soho

I'm really disappointed with the service we received at Lina Stores as I had heard great things and had wanted to go for so long. We were given someone else's order and when I let the waitress know, all we received was an eye roll. No words, No apology. I cant describe how rude this service was and how much it impacted our experience. I then found it totally unprofessional that the same waitress was evidentially complaining about us to other members of staff. We were perfectly cordial in letting the waitress know it wasn't our order and understand how these things happen. We were utterly speechless! We were also surprised that, even in such a nice environment, the menus that were left on the table were scrunched up in our faces at the end of the meal. Couldn't this wait till after we had left? The food was reasonably okay - small dishes. Over all, not a great experience. Only silver lining, The front of house team were great at welcoming us and finding space.

Very nice, fresh pasta. Portions are quite small but OK for a light lunch. Downstairs area of the restaurant smells of the toilets. This ruined our experience. If we ever go back will ask to be seated at the entrance level bar.

This place has really gone downhill... I don't know what happened, maybe there's new management or something... A year or so ago when we came here for a truffle pasta, it was stunning. But now, they barely give you any truffle, pasta is still very hard, not cooked properly, and they don't use salt for boiling pasta... When the main thing you serve in a restaurant is pasta, you have to get it perfect.... Not coming back

A small. group of us had lunch - not our first visit and definitely not the last. We all made different menu choices - all were delicious. Highly recommend the carpaccio of beef and the pumpkin ravioli with hazelnuts, sage and butter sauce and the gelato was excellent. Very relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and prompt service.

We were seated in the basement which smelled a bit like toilet. The place was hot, crowded and loud. I had the impression the staff hated working there, and couldn't blame them given the environment. They were abrupt and trying to get us in and out as soon as possible, asking us repeatedly to order right after sitting down. None of our table could hear them as they were softly spoken and in such an uncomfortable crowded and loud room, they were inaudible. Overall really an unpleasant experience all around, a pity as the food was decent. This is not a place for a relaxing meal, and we didn't come anywhere near using the table for the 90 minutes we had it for, we wanted out after an hour.

Absolutely delicious food. We had burrata, focaccia and polenta to start, and the sausage, ragu and crab pastas for main. Honestly couldn't pick a favourite, all beautiful. The only downside was the way they rushed us out after 90 minutes ready for the next table but as long as you're aware that'll be the case it shouldn't be an issue. The wine is pricey

I love the branch in Soho - especially the sitting/getting served on the counter doubles the delight. Great performance for value... The truffle tagliolini is a must try!

Great authentic pasta restaurant. Love the queuing system too, where they send you a message when your table is ready.

Its been a while since we have been here and now I’m wondering why it has been so long since we have been back. The pasta dishes are top notch. I love the portion sizes with great pricing to match that allows you to explore more dishes. Staff were super helpful and friendly in assisting us as a last minute walk in. Can’t wait to head back and have more dishes. The dessert was amazing also as well as the starters.

The flavour of the pasta dishes were excellent but the pasta was a little underdone and not al dente. The ravioli dish was perfect. Quite small portions do best to get 3 dishes between 2. Nice atmosphere but felt quite rushed to leave.

Went for a quick lunch today and ordered the same pasta i always get , tagliolini ai tartufo. Pasta was served cold as was sitting on a pass waiting to be served to the table. The whole time i’ve been there no one came to check if everything is ok. Even when i asked for bill the lady who was serving/ sitting people didn’t ask if everything is ok as more then half of the pasta was still in the plate. After i paid i give her my feedback and honestly she didn’t took it well. Shame as i used to love this place but this experience was really dissapointing.

The food was very very delicious. The staff is kind & the atmosphere is nice but you’ll have very little space at your table. Would definitely recommend though!!

In November 2023, My 20-year daughter and I had dinner here twice and then I returned solo for two additional dinners. This is her review: "I have no words for this place. We got this recommendation from Pablo at Resident Soho and ate here EVERY SINGLE NIGHT we could. It is small so not for big groups but either make a reservation or go early and get a spot at the bar to watch them cook. I swear to god this is the best food I have every eaten and worth the price (which really is not bad). Order the 30 yolk truffle tagliolini (if you do not get this you do not deserve to eat here)." I also recommend the Gnutti Fritti and the Burrata Ravoli. Tell Oscar and Angelica we sent you!

The space was so small for the amount of people in there, it was hard to move. The service wasn't the best and the food was OK really quite rich and mostly buttery

We went to the Kings Cross restaurant (been to Soho one also) and it was wonderful. We enjoyed sitting at the counter in front of the busy chefs producing the most amazing food. Everything we had was delicious (we ate vegetarian). Even though the dishes are small plates so we shared, it was satisfying as the sauces are so rich and flavoursome. The waiting staff were always on hand and cheerful despite being very busy. Highly recommend!

A mostly authentic experience with a good wine selection. If you're sat at the bar, then be aware that the stools are fixed to the floor. Limited wheelchair access.

A descent Italian but the place is a bit run down.

Perfectly fresh pasta dishes with simple, delicious ingredients. The size of the portions is nicely judged so you are not overwhelmed by the amount on your plate and are able to savour the food. Truffle tagliolini and the burrata and tomato ravioli were perfect; the Amalfi lemon sorbet was fresh and delicious.The dining area downstairs is small and tight, but there is a lovely atmosphere and you feel like you are a part of the Lina Stores history.

Place needs a cleaner look. Pasta was overcooked with too much added water from the cooked pasta. Black truffle pasta had truffle oil in the sauce even do they assured me it didn’t (truffle oil is artificially made using the chemical 2,4-dithiapentane, designed to mimic the taste of truffles). Overall a disappointing experience.

On being shown to our table downstairs, we were met by the overpowering smell of raw feces emanating from the nearby toilet. Several other parties also noticed this and complained. Staff did their best to move us to a table further from the toilet, but the odour was still pervasive. Food was delicious, but difficult to eat whilst trying to avoid inhaling the ambient stench. Staff indicated that the smell was an ongoing plumbing issue. Had this not been a busy Friday night in Soho, we would definitely have gone elsewhere. This was a special occasion booked well in advance. A shame that an avoidable issue detracted from good food and kind staff. I won’t be returning.

I came on a strong recommendation and the truffle pasta was definitely the best I’ve ever had. Unfortunately this makes it even sadder that I doubt I will return as the portion is much too small to constitute a meal. It’s more of a snack, in which case the price isn’t worthwhile.

Great service and amazing food.

Unfortunately, my wife who was catching up with a friend who she had not seen for 2 years did not have a very good time at the restaurant. As per the booking, 90 minutes is allocated for the reservation. However, after being seated at 7pm, prior to dessert being served, a bill was left at the table at 8.15. The staff then proceeded to agitate and visited at 3 to 5 minute intervals sharing that another table was waiting - despite 90 minutes being allocated. We appreciate that its a Friday night and a busy time, however, a more professional and customer centric approach that doesn’t ruin the experience of guests would be appreciated. I’m not quite sure what prompted staff to want to effectively kick my wife off her table and booking before it was due to expire - whether a misunderstanding or misinformation to several members of staff My wife tried et best to explain when the 90 minute period was over, whilst attempting for the interruptions to not ruin her dinner. However the experienced was ruined by the staff being quite aggressive. We frequently dine in the west and unfortunately we’ll have to consider whether we return to the restaurant again.

amazing pasta dishes - gorgeous deserts - sensational wine selection - friendly and helpful staff, one of the best places to eat in SOHO. less positive - its really noisy downstairs (something to do with the space?) its small and I imagine there is no way you could hope to just turn up and get a table, it isn't cheap but for me it is very fairly priced.

Service was good. Bread was cold and over buttery/oily. Portions were quite small and it was very noisy in there. Pasta was good though and my table were all happy with their pasta.

We had a fabulous experience at Lina Stores. We came in between the Harry Potter play intermission. We booked a reservation right at 5 when they opened. The place is super cute and the downstairs is dark and intimate. The service was great. I can’t think of his name but he was great recommending wine and answering questions about the menu. Definitely would go back! My wife even looked into their pasta kit but they don’t ship internationally unfortunately but the pasta was amazing. My wife got the truffle pasta. I don’t remember mine but it has the lamb in it. The fried ricottta balls were also top notch.

Lovely small Italian restaurant with delicious options, The person who was waiting on us was a very nice guy who gave us excellent recommendations and had always a smile on his face despite how busy the restaurant was. The food options were delicious and special which makes Lina Soho a unique Italian restaurant where you'd come to be surprised by the delicious combination of flavours that you'd probably wouldn't have had in any other Italian restaurant. If I have to say anything that wasn't so great, it was the size of the portions that were rather small, although you come to expect this from a boutique restaurant in Soho like this otherwise it would be either too expensive or they wouldn't be able to make ends meet. We found prizes fairly reasonable for the quality of food we were being served.

Evening out in London, came across this lovely authentic Italian, thought prices were exceptional for the quality of food recieved, excellent service from cheery waiters, nice ambience, food delicious, on plus side you can buy lovely biscuits, cakes, dried pastas and lots more, very good for presents, highly recommend a visit

A great menu, freshly cooked and delivered with genuine friendly service.

I had a quick lunch break at Lima’s. While it was rush hour and busy the service was excellent and quick. I must say that the tagliolini al tartufo was one of the best dishes of pasta I ever had, including in Italy.

My favourite place in Soho, the food is consistently perfect and they have great gluten free options (and lactose free pistachio sorbet)! They also have the best olives I've ever tried. The wines they recommended were also great. We couldn't resist so we went twice during my last trip to London.

It's always a delight to eat at Lina Stores in Soho. The staff are friendly and efficient and the food is always beautifully presented and delicious. Can't wait to return.

We came here after hearing some much about Lina stores and its great Italian food! We were not disappointed the pasta was amazing the particular highlights were the Lamb Ragu, the truffle tagliolini , tiramisu with good and attentive service. Only negative was that this restaurant was small and a result often had other groups bumping into our table.Would recommend this to anyone in the area wanting good Italian food!

Sitio de pasta fresca. Nosotros cenamos en barra (no teníamos reserva) y estuvo curioso ver cómo preparan las pastas delante tuyo. Las raciones no son grandes, algo alto de precio pero la cocción y sabor 10/10. Recomendable.

We had an amazing night served by Celine, she was beyond accommodating and really made our night so special! Food was unreal with amazing chefs.

Not the lovely place it used to be. 5.25 refused to serve cooked meat as he was about to wash the bacon slicer. Can’t he use a knife? Lost a £30 sale through poor attitude. They don’t close until 6pm so why couldn’t or wouldn’t they serve the item. Unfortunately, the coffee is like warm too. A good store gone to ruin I feel. Sadly , I won’t shop there again.

We were the last customers of the night. Great recommendations for wine and both had the crab linguine. Has a spice to it, but overall really good and fresh. It is around the corner from the famous Jazz Club and Harry Potter exhibit.

I love love LOVE this place!!! All the staff are so lovely and very welcoming. Not to mention the food - best pasta I’ve ever eaten!! I will definitely be returning with family! Thank you Lina Stores for a wonderful birthday meal :)

I took my little sister here for her birthday and as not disappointed. Our server Oscar was very good with helping me organise a dessert with a candle for her and he was very welcoming and nice :) We sat upstairs at the bar and we could watch the chefs making the pasta which was absolutely magical! The truffle tagliolini was heavenly and the kitchen was accommodating when my sister wanted to change the type of pasta she had with the prawn dish. We also had the fried ricotta starter which was amazing and quite filling for a good price. The cannolo was delicious and tasted just like the ones we had in Sicily!

Kann diesen ganzen Hype um dieses Restaurant nicht verstehen: wir waren heute aufgrund der positiven Google Bewertungen essen. Leider waren das die schlechtesten Nudeln, die ich je gegessen habe. Viel zu teuer für die Portion und diese Qualität des Essens. Der Laden ist auch nicht für Familien geeignet.

Pasta was nice, truffle pasta very rich. Personally didn't like the set up. I had lunch downstairs and it was dingy and so loud when it was packed with people.

Beautiful Italian restaurant!! Super popular and busy! We sat at the bar where you can see the chefs cooking and making pasta! I shared the focaccia and Carpaccio both were delicious! I had the prawn pasta for mains and a delicious can cannolo for dessert! Love love love this place

The starters were excellent but the pasta dishes were mediocre. Our reservation was at 9pm by which time they had runout of ingredients for several dishes we wanted to try. Best to stick to an earlier booking.

We went for dinner this evening and even though the food itself was on point, unfortunately the poor service from our waiter made for a disappointing experience. We waited a long time for the waiter to come over and take our order, later he got confused and tried to move us on to dessert before we even received our mains, and at the end didn’t even say thank you when he gave us our bill. Given the service, the 12.5% service charge tacked by default onto the bill is pretty irritating.

The pasta here is homemade and delicious. If you come in a group, it is a good idea to order the plates to share. The staff are friendly, helpful, and attentive.

I absolutely love the atmosphere of this place! You could see the whole view of the cooking process at the bar table, and the food itself was also amazing. The portions aren’t big for the price but still worth for a nibble and have a chat with your friend. It will be hard to get seated without an reservation so make sure you make one.
