A Sunday Lunch Worth Waiting For! No one has ever anticipated a Sunday lunch more than me! I first met Simonetta, the proprietor of Ida, nearly a year ago while swimming. I’d already heard about the restaurant, and when I discovered Simonetta was also a novelist, I pre-ordered her book Ida at My Table right away. During a long recovery, I read it cover to cover—reliving the story of her family and the restaurant in beautifully descriptive prose. I felt as though I’d already met everyone before even stepping foot inside. Not long after the book launch, I attended a reading with my friend Adam where we finally met the real-life characters. Since then, I’d been dreaming of a meal curated by Simonetta and her husband Avi. Life got in the way, and I also wanted to wait until Adam—who was observing Ramadan—could join. So we held off just a little longer. When we finally arrived, the day couldn’t have been more perfect. Sunlight poured through the large windows, filtering through shelves lined with bottles, casting a warm, inviting glow across the room. It felt immediately comforting. Having a proper chat with Avi and seeing Simonetta in her “castle” was a joy in itself. We were treated like royalty—but it’s clear everyone who walks through those doors receives the same heartfelt hospitality. The food exceeded expectations. Everything—from the antipasti to the handmade pasta—was clearly made with love and care. I had the tagliatelle al ragù, but we shared and tasted all the dishes. The food was rich yet wholesome, flavourful, and deeply satisfying. Each dish felt like something made at home by someone who truly cares. Ida’s whole team are exceptional. Yes, I’m biased. But if you’ve read the book, met the family, or simply appreciate a meal made from the heart, you’ll understand. This wasn’t just lunch. It was a story brought to life.

Food is nice but service is incredibly bad. Sat down for a nice meal and 25 minutes went by without even getting a glass of water let alone to order drinks. At the 40min mark we finally had wine on the table but this kind of service is just completely insane for a restaurant of this quality. Staff are generally pretty young and disinterested as well. Overall ruined the experience.

Ida is one of those rare, authentic gems you dream of stumbling upon—but only if you’re lucky. Tucked away off the beaten track, this family-run restaurant is a true slice of Italy in London. The experience starts the moment you arrive: the building is full of character, and once inside, the charming decor instantly transports you to a cosy and romantic restaurant somewhere in Italy. The service is warm, friendly, and effortlessly efficient. You’ll almost certainly be greeted by one of the family members who help run the restaurant, adding a personal, heartfelt touch that makes the whole experience feel special. And then there’s the food. Simple, honest, and utterly delicious. The pasta, in particular, is some of the best I’ve ever eaten—even in Italy. They use simple traditional ingredients to perfection. Every dish was packed with flavour . If you’re lucky enough to visit during someone’s birthday, the atmosphere becomes even more magical—full of warmth, laughter, and celebration. Don't miss out on taking a little piece of Ida home with you. The owner has written a beautiful cookbook featuring some of their most beloved recipes, so you can recreate a bit Italian magic in your own kitchen. This is more than a meal—it’s an experience. A must-visit gem great for a date and for anyone who just loves great food, good vibes, and a taste of true Italian hospitality. *Dog friendly too!

We recently booked out the restaurant for Easter Lunch as part of a wedding weekend family celebration. We chose a set menu which was extremely well valued - the atmosphere was great, every dish was fantastic, and the team were so welcoming. Knowing it was a special occasion, they went the extra mile (such as writing us a lovely card, saving corks from the wine bottles and creating a personalised menu). All these little details made such a big difference in making the day memorable for us. Thanks again for the entire Ida team for a great day.

I had a wonderful experience at Ida, a cozy Italian restaurant near Queen's Park. The fresh pasta is made in-house every day and it's truly exceptional. We ordered the ravioli di zucca e prosciutto and spaghetti with anchovies and olives, both of which were delicious and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is intimate and charming, with candlelight and artwork adorning the walls. The service was attentive and knowledgeable, and the staff were happy to guide us through the menu. What I loved most was the personal touch - it's clear that the owners, Avi and Simonetta, put their heart and soul into the restaurant. I highly recommend Ida to anyone looking for authentic Italian cuisine in a warm and welcoming setting. We'll definitely be back!

Ida is family. First and foremost it is delicious food delivered by wonderful people. It is also in the care that is poured into the menu, the interest that Simonetta, Avi and the kids take in your life; it’s the chicken broth they brought us after the birth of our son; the way they showed up for the whole community during Covid. Come for in incredible food, stay for the incredible people.

Our home away from home for a taste of authentic Italian cuisine. Fabulous atmosphere in this artistically curated neighbourhood spot. The interiors are unpretentious and charming. I’d be waiting to go for many years with the wife. To say I was disappointed is under statement. Waiting staff were not sure about the menu. We waited 25 mins for drinks and an hour for our starters. On top of this the portion size were tiny considering you re paying £20 for a pasta dish. Over all it was super expensive for what it was not great value at all. On top of that we were rushed off our table for their second sitting. Which added insult to injury! I shared my feedback hope they take it onboard.

A perfect evening! The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, you know from the moment you walk in the food will taste like a home cooked meal! A not too extensive menu with plenty of options for different dietary restrictions. We had bruschetta with cheese and roasted grapes - perfect mix of savoury and sweet. Bresaola - thin and savoury with a salad. We had 2 pastas - pappardele with white Ragu and a simple linguine with butter, garlic and anchovies. If we weren't in public we would have licked the plates clean! Dessert had the creamiest tiramisu and a decadent Nutella cheesecake. The service was fast, friendly. The food superb. And it's a special place - we were given a little note with a name: it was someone's birthday and they wanted everyone to sing happy birthday. So inviting! Will definitely be back! And soon. Ps: lemoncello to finish was exactly the way to finish the night! Thank you for a wonderful night!

There are hundreds of Italian restaurants in London that make a claim to be authentic to a neighbourhood, a city, a region. None come close to Ida. You hear Roman in the kitchen, see Le Marche on the menu and feel as if you're by a canal in Venice rather than on catatonic Kilburn Lane. To use a cliche, it changes and stays the same; season-to-season and weekday to Sunday (when the best amatriciana this side of Rome is served).

Raved about this place to friends and then was a bit embarrassed. Starter of crostini was poorly presented and didn’t taste good. We were given an old menu which gave away the price increases that must have happened lately including the steak increasing from £24 to £28 but the steak was prepared and presented worse than the last time I visited. There was a lack of a good vegetarian pasta option in our view. No water offered to the table for a long time. Had to ask for our drinks a few times. White veal pasta was delicious. We were asked by the waitress to sing happy birthday to the next door table which was a bit intrusive. Probably would have done it anyway but being asked to was a bit odd. Just didn’t feel as good as I hoped it would all together.

Had dinner here on Saturday after a long anticipated wait (booked a month in advance) and it had been on my hit list for so long but was sadly disappointed. The restaurant itself is lovely and has a cosy atmosphere. The staff weren’t very attentive which I see a couple of comments on below and we weren’t asked how the food was during the meal. We ordered the crab pasta which was bland with barely any crab and didn’t taste of much. The Tiramisu was OK but lacking in mascarpone so lacked some richness to it. It’s a real shame as I so wanted to love this place but I wouldn’t go back.

I rated Ida 5 stars when I first went there. I’ve been 3 times since but last night will be the last. A couple of things annoyed me in the past but the food was so good I ignored them. However last night the pasta was very poor. Too tomatoey. My friend , a real foodie, described it as school dinners. Perfect description. Things that annoyed me. I asked for butter. No butter. I asked for whiskey. No whiskey. Asked for Pino Grigio by glass. No, only a bottle. So you realise this is a no can do attitude. I also feel on reflection that they feel they are doing you a favour by giving you a reservation. Anyway bottom line is food not good enough and won’t be back. Bye bye Ida. Whoever you are.

We’d booked out the whole restaurant for 25 of us on two long tables. All organised in advance, Ida’s served a 3 course sharing menu which was fabulous. A little bar was set up so we could get up and pay for pre-dinner drinks. Starters were burrata served with roasted squash, an aubergine, tomato & pine nut dish, broad bean hummus with bread and olives. Mains were three delicious home made pastas - ragu, pepper sauce and pesto, baked fish cooked with tomatoes, olives and anchovies and a green leaf salad. Desserts were affogato ( vanilla ice cream with shot of espresso), orange cake with chocolate sauce and vin santo with cantucci biscuits. All cooked and served by a team of ladies headed up by the daughter of the owner. Leftovers were boxed up for us to take home. £45 each which included service. The sharing menu was a great idea allowing us all to sample Ida’s menu - home made pasta was exceptional. Lovely way to spend a leisurely Sunday lunchtime with good friends. Thank you Ida’s.

Emperor's New Clothes (folktale) a situation in which most people praise or seem to believe something that is false or has no value, because they are afraid to go against the general opinion. This is how I would sum up Ida's restaurant. Extremely over-priced, not good value for money and food was dreadful, pasta was grey and had a chemical taste and the steak (medium) was so charred on the outside it was crisp resulting in the only flavour of charcoal - went home hungry. Mains served with extremely small portion of parementer potatoes that could have fitted into a childs hand, no other veg accompanied the main. Rushed out and reminded by waitress the next sitting was about to start. Genuinely fail to see what this place has going for it and would not recommend or ever return.

I am so tired of paying massive bills in restaurants in London. We were recommended Ida and we had one of the best Italians we’ve had for a long time. It’s a family run restaurant. The service was great and the pasta excellent. It’s got a lovely old fashioned ambience. Then the bill came. £45 per head. Don’t get that in London. Cecconis in centre of London the next night (£85 a head) didn’t come close.

The food was delicious and the staff are very efficient. The downside is that the restaurant can get quite loud making it difficult to have a conversation.

One of our absolutely favorite local spots! Fresh made pasta and delicious veggie dishes with hearty sauces and great Negronis. So much to love about Ida!

Lovely family run restaurant. Excellent food and ambiance. Enjoyed the hand made pasta. Prices on the higher end, slightly bigger portions and it would be perfect. Desserts were good, not too sweet. Best to make reservations as they are really packed.

My son and I had spotted this restaurant while driving through Queen’s Park during lockdown and had been meaning to visit this quaint and authentic Italian restaurant ever since. Well we finally got around to it this WE for a mini family celebration. We had a three course menu £38 pp which provided lots of option choices and amongst our group of five, we managed to take in most of the dishes available. I should add no one was disappointed. I had the goats cheese, followed by sea bass cooked in parchment paper to preserve the flavour and olive oil and followed by an orange and almond sponge cake, accompanied by ice cream. I should add that the service was friendly and authentic, Sala was our waitress and pointed out that her sister who was also in attendance, was responsible for all the artwork displayed. Highly recommended and I plan to return on two more occasion in the coming weeks.
