Went for a wedding. £143 for one night so was expecting a lot more than we got. Room small and nothing special. Bed and pillows uncomfortable. Shower worst one ever…. Could not regulate it so it was either very hot or very cold. Quickest shower I have ever had. (Shower from taps, didn’t think anyone had those anymore). Will not be back. Had 3 nights in Leicester at better hotel for £17 extra so defo not worth the money

Exceeded our expectation. Hotel set at side of valley with great views. As for the staff! We've stayed in some of the top hotels and this is up there with them. They couldn't do enough even without asking. A truly professional team with a great customer service attitude. Other hotels could take a leaf out of their book. Food was superb. Would not hesitate to stay here again. Thank you Great Western.

We had both breakfast and dinner in the restaurant , the staff were attentive and friendly. Full English in morning plus all the extras. Lovely steak on the Friday night and fish & Chips on Saturday. Bar staff great as well. Would suggest buying a bottle of wine as cheaper than buying by the glass.

We stayed three nights. The hotel is quite hard to find and the traffic in the area is a nightmare. The hotel is very old and worn. There are bits of maintenance being carried out but to bring it up to date would cost a huge amount. However, it is clean and the staff are very good. We ate in the bar the first evening both having chicken wings, chips and garlic bread. It was very nice. Breakfast was excellent with a choice of juices, cereals, cooked bacon, sausages, beans, tomatoes etc. Our room was small, single glazed windows but the heating worked well. Small TV on the wall, (no Sky news). Bathroom with bath and shower and soap and shampoo on wall. Bring your own conditioner. Towels white and fluffy. Ask if you want your room serviced every day otherwise it won’t be. Plenty of tea and coffee provided. We would stay again.

This is my second time at this restaurant. Both times I've eaten there as its convenient when you've driven all day, however, if I had to stay here again I would definitely make the trip into Bath for dinner. The first thing to mention is that the staff are very nice and helpful. However that's really where the positives end. There is literally no ambience in the room. It's a very bizarre experience. Like being in a canteen or a restaurant someone forgot to design. It's baffling that they can have this amazing building but not pay any attention to the atmosphere. The food is extremely basic. Its food you could cook yourself if you're like me and have no interest in cooking. The quality of the ingredients was poor for the price. The presentation is very old fashioned and lacking in apparent effort. The restaurant lacks vegetable sides and is completely inflexible when switching ingredients. It's definitely not somewhere to take fussy eaters, children or people with dietary requirements. Interestingly I've seen similar comments to mine in other reviews going back several years, so the management are well aware of the issue and choose to have it like this. Very strange in this day and age.

What a treat, all roads lead to Bath for a long weekend of indulgence into the world of Jane Austen. We travelled from Carmarthenshire to Bath with my sister and husband as we all love Jane Austen. We researched the surrounding area for a nice place to stay for what promises to be a brilliant weekend. Our hotel of choice was the Limpley Hotel, situated about 15 minutes away from Bath, It was a typical Bath stone building with ample parking. We found the hotel delightful, the staff are amazing and very friendly, the food was delicious. We will definitely stay at the Limpley Hotel next time we visit Bath.

We used the Limpley Stoke Hotel restaurant whilst staying in the hotel for a mid-week overnight stay whilst visiting relatives nearby. We had driven here and there was ample parking for guests in the grounds though the car park did seem to get busier during the evening. The hotel is in what appears to be a former country house and is on a grand scale both as you approach it and on entry with its long reception corridor and high ceilinged reception rooms leading off this. We had decided to take our evening meal in the hotel and this was served in one of the large reception rooms. The menu had a good choice, offering either a la carte or a bar menu. I had the chicken curry and my wife the vegetarian curry and both meals were very good, served in a good time and of a portion size likely to satisfy the average appetite. For dessert we both had the apple & blackberry crumble and again this dish was very good. The two waiters in the restaurant were excellent, very polite and helpful, checking back during the meal to ask if everything was alright. We thought that the prices for the meal were reasonable when taking into account the quality and portion size but also the service and surroundings. After dinner we took a coffee in the bar area situated in another reception room. The bar area was set up with a ‘real’ (we think a gas) fire, television and plenty of seating. The room was comfortable to sit in and had a nice ambience.

We stayed for two nights and, although we had booked on line, at the check in there was a confusing delay as the hotel did not have the information we had confirmed on line (trouble with wifi made it difficult for us to be able to show the reception our confirmation). Eventually we agreed a formula of stay and was shown to our room. Comfortable room (48) although very hot, even with the radiators off we slept with the window wide open all night (in October ! ) . The easy chair in the room was in fact only a childs size chair one that could not be sat in. Meals we thought were edible but overpriced for what was offered, Rib Eye steak for us both was overcooked and served with frozen chips, half a grilled tomato and just HALF a mushroom £20.95, Breakfasts were good, buffet style. Would we return, I very much doubt it.

We were invited to share in a close friends 80th Birthday lunch a week last Sunday. The whole environment was delightful, with the garden doors open, enjoying the view, and some welcome air on a hot summer day! The manager greeted us with a glass of bubbly, and then we were shown through to the private area for a sit down lunch. The food was excellent as was the service, by young waiting staff. There were approximately 20 of us and the food was served efficiently and quickly, so we all started to eat at the same time. Once served the staff left and so there was no intrusion!

This was a visit for a wedding, and as such was extremely important to the families attending - but there was no need for concern, it was absolutely wonderful. For those of us actually staying overnight, the bedrooms were spacious and comfortable - and some lucky guests even found themselves sleeping in four poster beds! The decor was a little on the dated side - more ‘shabby chic’ than ‘boutique modern’ but nevertheless it was all very grand with endless stairways and lounges to relax and wander in. But only one bar - given the size of the Hotel, rather bizarre and a bit of a squash! Perhaps a few more staff on would have been helpful as well. The breakfasts were good and plentiful. However, I do have one serious complaint - the DJ’s who were paid to make the evenings entertainment go with a swing spent most of the time on their phones, and when they did manage to engage with some of the guests they proceeded to offend more than a few of them with their brusque manner! The choice of music was the bride and grooms - who were paying the DJ’s - so it didn’t seem like a particularly onerous task or asking too much for them to be polite and friendly to the guests?! So I have to say, if you are considering the Hotel for a Wedding you can’t go wrong - but definitely make your own arrangements for the evenings entertainment, as hiring these two was a total waste of money - and if it hadn’t been for them I would have given the Venue another Star.
