Disappointing, firstly, the pies were both not cooked. They were pale white, we asked to get them cooked, and then came back 2 minutes later piping hot, which obviously had been microwaved the outside was hard. The mash was almost definitely from a packet mixture. However, the lasagna was ok. What did annoy me is a review reply from 3 months ago states that the chips aren't oven baked and the pie is home made and not mass produced which is clearly wrong, the standards have greatly reduced over the years. The ketchup was extremely sour. For the price, it was a rip off, at least we got a refund for the pies. But nothing is as advertised. Do not buy food here. Also, adding to this, the owner is extremely rude, as you can see in the reply. He or she knows we are on a canal boat, so we can't go back and watch, and if we did, you would kick us out. Oh, and that trainee wouldn't be devastated if you would've inspected the pies and said that it is well undercooked or not even cooked, so if he is devastated, it's both of your faults. Here’s an update this pub is still absolutely terrible, never order food here the owners attitude is absolutely shocking, I and my family will never eat or drink here again.

Great canal-side location- positives end there. Very dated, in need of serious investment. No dogs allowed which is a little backwards these days and misses huge opportunity based on tow paths and various walking routes that lead to the pub. Could be a very decent place with a bit of modernisation in both decor and business acumen.

Located beside the Ashby Canal and also the A5, so good transport links too, be you a walker or cyclist like me, or by road. Great pub for a real ale pint while sailing on the Ashby canal. However overall we were disappointed. We had hoped to eat here but contrary to reviews we had read - and contrary to the sign on the pub door - the pub is not fully dog friendly. Dogs are only welcome in the garden which is a shame for a canal-side pub. We found the garden to be a bit scruffy (not beautiful as suggested in some reviews) and it was noisy from the main road adjacent to it. So sadly we did not - could not - eat here on a chilly evening with our well behaved dog. Shame as we do like to support family run pubs.

Came with a friend on a Sunday afternoon, neither had been here before but it's a cosy traditional-style pub, there was a range of drinks available (but sadly we had both driven so had to stick with cokes). The food was really generous (pictured) and tasty! The pie was stuffed with filling and not half air as you sometimes get in some places. They still have some safety measures in place such as masks when moving around indoors, track and trace and hand sanitiser.

Ate here last week! Dreadful from start to finish!!!!! This is without doubt one of the worst pubs I've been too. Dirty glass with lipstick on it, bad enough at the best of times, but during a pandemic?????? Food was given to another table, when the landlord realised their mistake it was scooped up (after another family had chatted over our food) and served to us. The quality of the food was just awful, dried up pie, shrivelled mushrooms, steaks that were like an old boot, gravy and 'peppered sauce' disgusting. Wide berth needs to be given.

I completely understand the pandemic and the hit the trade has had. Our first time here and it was running a limited menu. Absolutely no issues with the offerings. 4 of us with 1 drink and a light lunch, consisting of frozen/supermarket produce that had been deep fried and very, very little of it! All of this came to £35, mightily disappointed with this as the KFC down the road has far better quality. If charging these prices, at least make sure the quality stacks up. As I say, I completely understand the industry has been hit hard but there really isn't any excuse for this. Will definitely not be returning. EDIT: Due to response from owner, demoting to 1 star as they clearly don't take well to criticism or feedback, I feel this feedback has not been taken on board. Feedback is valuable, whether bad or good, it's how you use it as a business to get better at what you do.

I recently stayed at the Leonardo Hotel in Hinckley and had a mixed experience. Starting with the positives, the rooms were spacious and well-appointed, with a comfortable bed and a clean, modern bathroom that had excellent water pressure in the shower. Breakfast was enjoyable, offering a good variety of options to start the day, and the parking facilities were sufficient and easy to use. The staff were another highlight—super helpful and friendly throughout my stay. However, there were a few downsides. The hotel’s location is quite isolated, situated on an A road/motorway, making it inconvenient if you want to explore or access amenities nearby. Another inconvenience was the barrier system; you need a new code from reception every day to exit the car park, which felt unnecessarily cumbersome. Additionally, the hotel can get noisy, as it seems to cater primarily to events, Christmas parties, and conferences. While this might be fine for some, it can be disruptive for guests seeking a quieter stay. The rooms were also quite cold during the evenings, and although electrical heaters were provided, they took a few hours to warm up the space properly. Overall, it’s a decent hotel with great staff and facilities, but the location, noise, and heating issues might not make it ideal for everyone.
