Chris's Fish & Chips in Hinckley and Bosworth

I'm sorry but- Been going for years and I get the portion sizes can vary but its been getting ridiculous as of recent.. You can either get enough to have left overs or so little that your still hungry- today's the worst of it, barely enough for 4 people. Hopefully it'll improve eventually in the future :(

Probably the best chippy in shilton and surrounding area,always fresh,clean and good size portions.Batter always crispy too

Haven't been for a while, but on a trip back from the hospital , decided to pick up some fish and chips on a Friday night, my wife was told the fish had only been out for 10 minutes, but when we arrived home which is less than 5 minutes away the fish was so dry it was almost un eatable ended up throwing most of it away, only upside was the chips were good.

No pizza but on the front advertising having pizzas.

Always busy cos it’s lovely food.

Everything is usually fine but they just charge me 3 pounds for a tiny box of salad what a rip of it's a shame that stuff like this ruins a decent place

High price and very small portion! Just had a large kebab and chips with what should have been salad and was shocking could have fit the kebab in a kids hand. They used to be really good but I think they have lost their way a bit!

Ordered many times from here but won't be doing so again. Poured mushy peas over my food and then a strong smell of faeces from the peas hit me. Had to throw the whole lot in the bin. Staff putting the peas into the carton must surely have smelt that they're off but they sold the anyway! Truly horrible experience.

Great chips and battered sausage

I live locally so we thought we’d give it a try. Unfortunately the fish was dry and batter was soggy. Kebab was also very average. It was probably just a one off so will will give them another try sometime

A chip shop that can’t cook chips is not a good sign, really poor quality, clearly uncooked but served anyway?

Best fish and chips in the area imo

Portion sizes vary too much .. last week 2 portions fed my 3 children with some left over .. this week two portions was not enough for my 3 children they were more like cone size than a portion size .. disappointed

I have had 3 roes 2 from Earl Shilton and 1 from Barwell and all 3 were off the latest one was from an hour ago and I have tried ringing them 10 times now and it's constantly engaged never going to go to them again lousy atmosphere my partner went in a couple of months ago queued up a woman walked straight in and got served straight away so my partner went to another chip shop in the area

Bought cod, paid price for cod, it wasn’t cod. God knows what it was they gave us. Some dry white fish. I understand if you can’t get cod but don’t sell it as cod.

The best chip shop in Leicester. Really good quality, really well cooked fish & chips. Lovely mushy peas, curry sauce and sausages too. By far better than Stoney Stanton, Huncote, Cosby & Blaby. Really impressed. Glad we’ve finally found a place that is worth going to. Thank you for the lovely food.

Pie and chips. The pie was luke warm and had to be re-heated at home, a minutes drive after purchase, and the chips were awful. They were all stuck together.I picked one up and a bunch the size of a tennis ball accompanied it. The wife says i have a big mouth but not big enough for that lot. The taste was even worse.. dry and powdery. I tried disguising the taste with a sea of vinegar but it didnt work and eventually I had to bin the them.

Excellent fish and chips. I tried to use the app to order but it wasn't working very well. Anyway, went to the shop and was served by a very efficient young man. Got everything home, and food was still very hot. Dog had to wait for his sausage to cool down. He and I both had a delicious meal. Will always go here rather than my local village fish and chip shop - that could use a lesson from Chris's.

As always Chris's fush and chips were first class.

Good F&C, better than most with nice friendly service. Online website works well until you try and pay when the 3rd party payment gateway throws a fit more often than not, so i suggest just going in and order! Update: docked them a star as even though the website said the transaction was declined i still been charged (so gonna have to go through the pain of disputing the tx!)

Lovely food, but the some of the staff haven’t got a clue!? just stand around looking gormless when there’s a queue instead of taking orders, or doing anything really. Stood in here now and they’ve not asked the old gent after me what he wants. Takes an age to put an order in!?

I have heard a lot about this fish and chip shop , so I made a special journey to Earl Shilton to try it and was so disappointed, I think as we went later in the evening the fish and the chips had been hanging around too long. I could have driven half the distance to 6 better fish and chip shops.

Good service, with an exceptional selection that we have come to expect from Chris. Gluten free on Friday and staff were giving the place a really good clean.

Our first time using Chris's fish 'n' chips. We ordered a small chicken kebab and chips each. The portion sizes !! We couldn't finish! Chips perfectly fried, chicken nice succulent and very tasty, good quality wrap too. Definitely recommended and we will be back.

Ordered food for delivery, chips were awful. Had clearly been wrapped for way too long, once we finally picked the paper that was stuck to all the chips it looked like mash. Called to complain, got fobbed off, told ‘this is what happens “ …… very poor

Have always loved the food here since I was a child. Went this evening with own 3 little ones and sat outside for a few minutes and the lovely person brought put something for the 3 kids for after they had eaten. She was absolutely amazing with 10 year old who went and ordered alone while I waited at the door. She was so nice kind and polite with her. Always the amazing good I remember as a child and the nicest people. Wonderful place would always recommend. Thank you

I saw this takeaway had lots of excellent reviews so I thought I would give them a try. Walked in at 9.35 pm and asked for a kebab and was told that they are not serving kebab because they will be closing in 20mins....what the heck...so I went to Ali Babas round the corner and they were more than happy to serve me a kebab....wont be going there again for sure.

Honest hard working people, place is spotless - evidenced by food standard hygiene rating of 5* by the local council. Always people coming in and out so very popular place. Flowers beautiful every year. Wish they would put a battered veggie sausage on the menu then it’d be perfect for me 🤣

Chippy - and in lockdown, I thought I would order in advance on the website It didn't work - I found the interface a bit fiddly - but the real problem came when I tried to pay. it went blank. Did it take my money? As it happened, no it didn't. I turned up and they had never heard of me But it wasn't a problem - I ordered in the old fashioned way, albeit wearing masks and with a Perspex screen between us. I waited outside in the rather charming garden while they cooked it fresh. Nice fish - and a very generous portion of chips. One between two will leave you with leftovers

Found worms in my cod and Harley Day the local dusty yute tried to shank me up.

I grew up in Earl Shilton regularly eating Chris' fish and chips. I moved away in 2001 but whenever visiting family I'd always look forward to our take away. I can honestly say Chris' fish and chips are the nicest I've ever tasted

Great service in covid times. Plenty of safety measures added really thought about start and customer satisfaction.

A fantastic effort to open up the chip shop in this current climate. Lots of signage, glass screens, hand sanitiser and even masks for the staff. Top job by the guys running the chip shop and well done to the staff adhering to the strict rules. Keep up the good work, we appreciate your fish and chips in these strange times!

We've only recently started using Chris's. We have had fish & chips and kebabs delivered from here. Every time the food has been superb. It's always been on time and hot. Would highly recommend this place.
