I have taken catering service for my house party. The biryani and other food all were very good. Definitely a recommendation from me.

A great fish & chip shop, excellent prompt and efficient service with a smile. The food is always fresh and hot.

Have to say used this a lot over the last few years but lately food not as good portions definitely smaller and staff are not as good Tonight’s Kebab was disappointing A real shame this was once the best by far

Amazing customer service, super friendly. Visited once in August and the food was fantastic. Went again for the second time and it just didn't quite hit the spot. Chris's, you are fab, just pleeaase do what you can to ensure the batter stays crispy. I'd happily wait in line a little longer than open up that paper to soggy batter and sweaty chips!

Our new chippy! Tended to move to a different chippy each time but now we don't have to. Lovely chips and crispy batter on the fish. Definitely worth a visit

First time visited and we were disappointed.

Just purchased a large cheesy chips, 3 sausages and a curry sauce and I am thoroughly DISAPPOINTED! The portion of the chips were extremely small and definitely not worth £6! The chips were also all stuck to the paper and sausages placed below the chips mushed together…. Really upset too as I’m a regular :(

Best pasty I've had in a long time, not like alot of Chip shops. Maybe slightly more expensive than other establishments. Friendly staff.

First time trying here.. ordered fish and chips for the Mrs and I had a kebab. The staff were very young and just seemed to be left to it by the looks of it. Believed the hype “award winning” fish and chips and all that jazz.. The fish was disgusting, Batter was stodgy and raw. Fish was very fishy tasting for cod- ended up in the bin. I had large kebab meat and chips for myself it came in a little tray.. had to pay extra for sauce and salad and the portion was pretty small compared to most chip shops! Place is a shambles, never again

Truly scintillating kebab. Since I’ve never tried one prior I asked to have a sample of doner meat and Chris saw no problem in that. Ended up getting a kebab and will definitely be back. Cheers Chris

Fresh fish in 4mins, light crispy batter and good size. Lots of well cooked chips. Could probably feed two people! £10 is a bit more than I’d usually pay but it was worth it. Great service too, very friendly

Came by whilst at work in my van, needed some greasy grub in ma belly and this little place was very welcoming to me (owner I think very bubbly just like myself) The mixed kebab was very tasty. I'll definitely be coming back for sure. Recommend this place 💯 cheers guys!

Love this plaice, love these guys ever since moving to Hinckley, it was the go. Even now we've moved, when back in town I buy from Chris and his beautiful family. Definitely recommend these guys. They are amazing!!!!!

We wanted fish and chips on Friday we order one to share it was big and fresh and the staff were polite. Highly recommended

It was all soggy and inedible some of the chips were still raw there was next to no batter on the any of the food the curry sauce tasted awful we gave it another go after months of not going there and instantly got reminded why we stopped going there

Chips are really greasy and they seem to use bad quality potatoes. More importantly, George, the owner, is incredibly rude to his customers. Eat elsewhere.

We visited Chris's Fish and Chips 30 April 2022. We chose this venue thinking that anyone who has their name in the business title must be good. Indeed the reviews are good. We ordered cod and chips twice with a single curry sauce. The batter for the cod was soggy. Really awful. The chips were worse. We can only describe them as the day before leftovers warmed up. If we had not left and travelled some distance to our hotel we would have taken them back. One good point being the curry sauce. A severely disappointing experience never to be repeated .

Poor quality dry fish on my last visit. Normally a tip top plaice ....been left in 5he hot counter for far too long. Spioled my tea. Spoiled my evening. Was very unhappy around to be quite honest. Probably not return and choose another fish shop as there are loads in this area strathmoore road or rugby road to visit.

Reliably great chips and great service

Have visited Chris’s this evening for the first time in a while but won’t be going back. The haddock was only luke warm, with soggy batter and the chips weren’t great either, with some not fully cooked. At over £9 for a haddock and chips, there should be no question about the quality of the food. Instead very disappointing, maybe they’ve got complacent!

Visited the shop on Wednesday evening.Chris have a good menu.lots to choose from.Our family wanted different things .We we’re all very disappointed with our orders.The chips were very very greasy.The pastie had all the meat comming out of the pasty.some of the chips were hard.so disappointed as we have used Chris chips in barwell which was very good.This isn’t the first time we have been disappointed with this chip shop .Have to say will not use it again

The lad who served me got the order wrong then charged me more once he amended my order then I questioned how much it came too then the owner/man in charge was unhelpful & rude. £14 for 2x chips curry sauce & sausage in batter Iwa

Paid 19.20 for two donna kebabs and chips. A lot of noise and shouting with young kids not knowing what they are doing, consequently creating confusion and getting things wrong. Fundamentally poor organisation and management.

Just visited this chippy today with my mate ordered kebab mate and chips in a batch. Never again it was bad and the bloke that served us was not very nice I wish I could give one star .

Gone down hill just got a burger stone cold and not cooked properly kebabs price for what you get is very expensive and kebabs luke warm at best large chips more like a small all in all terrible value for money and not as good as it used to be

Visited tonight with family and due to Covid only two of us went inside, wife waited outside. I stood with £20 note in hand and when passed cone of chops asked son to pass to his Mum. The lad serving him shouted loudly at him not leave shop. He was abrupt & rude & claimed it was because people run off with food. We were a family having a midweek treat & go there regularly. Totally spoilt my experience at that shop. Owner defended it & said I shouldn’t be offended. We were 🙁 Chips greasy.

My wife Google searched for gluten free fish and chips and Chris's fish and chips came up as a result. We ordered gf fish and chips, gf battered sausage, gf battered mushrooms. Large fish and chips, child's fish and chips, cheeseburger and chips and doner kebab and chips. Every meal was clearly marked and all meals served at the same time. Still perfectly hot when we got to eat them. Will definitely go back when we next visit the area. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her gf meal.

Usually find this chip shop great however, when visiting on Friday 16/07/21 at 5 pm bought two small fish and chips. When we arrived home 5 minutes later found the fish so small you could not get 2 bites of it - the fish and chips were nearly cold. The meals ended up in the dustbin Really disappointed, as we always call there at least once a month. Has this establishment changed ownership as we have never had a bad meal before? We

They do not seem to be short of staff. I think customers should wear masks and observe the amount of people in shop rule.

Use this chipshop quiet often, sometime great food, sometimes average, and like today poor, chips well over cooked, pie over cooked and tasteless, fish small lot of batter. Just disappointing when you are looking forward to a nice food treat.

Really look forward to gluten free fish and chips at least twice a month, always outstanding and really trust the food is completely gluten free. During covid the food has been delivered hot and perfect.

Always had good food from here and service has always been great.however just ordered and the food was delivered missing the cod.called and politely ask for the cod to be sent and fresh chips as they had gone cold,the women I spoke to was very polite and helpful.she asked if I needed to speak to the manger which I told her not the end of the world but would like it as soon as they can.was SHOCKED when arrived that we was asked for the old chips back as he wanted to make sure their was no batter in bag,assuming we were living!absolutely disgusting!called manager and was told I put the phone down on the women I spoke to before he could talk to me which was a lie and that he tried to call me back yet no missed call on my phone.the shear unapologetic arrogance oh the man was laughable.fish was dry and mushy peas were like water.wont be ever using this chippy again

Ordered a large fish and chips with gravy over the phone during the current health crisis was told it would be ready in 10/15 minute's ,Drove up to collect my order and found half a dozen staff behind the counter working on top of eachother and extremely busy getting out order's for the delivery driver's which there were more than 2 in the shop.....(8 members of staff altogether)after about mimute or so with no aknowlegment torwards me I decided to walk out as the risk was to high with so many people in a confined shop plus the rudeness of the staff towards me ,I walked out and spent my money in the chip shop down the rd where they were happy to serve me with no more than 2 customer's in the shop at any one time and staff working 2m apart and served me with a smile on there face.

Missing 3 items and no salt and vinegar as requested. Also took 1 hour 30 to deliver. Terrible service. Avoid

We have used this Fish and Chip shop for around years, The food and service has always been good. But last night we had friends round for fish and chip supper ( an annual event) we reordered a delivery for 8 pm, it arrived at 8 exactley to order and it was the best Fish and Chips we all had ever had !

Ordered chips and cheese for lunch, 5 chips later, I found the cheese was mouldy. Obviously put me straight off my lunch and felt sick!! Went back in to the shop and the young girl just apologized. Disgusting customer service ...... Response to your comment Yes it was your chip shop on Northfield Road, Hinckley. We will not be coming back due to a unprofessional apology and poor food. No food establishment should serve mouldy food, and just half heartily apologise. We were not offered a refund or a replacement. Even after buying 2 cans of drink to get rid of the taste, nothing was said This is the reason for the bad review

Had two mixed kebabs last night couldn't eat them the chicken meat wasn't nice at all chips were awful aswell staff were lovely

Terrible, ordered tray of mixed kebab meat & chips with batter bits. Had to wait for kebab which is fine. After a few minutes the girl behind the counter asked another gentleman in the shop what sauce he’d like on his kebab to which he replied garlic mayo & chilli sauce. After covering the tray of meat in both sauces and giving it to the gentleman, he quite rightly pointed out that he hadn’t ordered a tray of meat, he’d ordered kebab in a pita. She then realised the portion was for me and removed the meat of the top which was covered in Sauce and put back into the metal kebab meat walmers. She then bought the kebab tray back to the counter most of which was still covered in mayo & chilli sauce. I asked if she could change it as there was still mayo over the meat, to which she replied “it’s only a little bit”. I politely asked if she could change it as I was sharing it with someone and they didn’t like mayo. She then put the meat with sauce on it back into the containers, then she must have took the same meat back out. So I’ve just got home with kebab meat marinated in mayo and chilli sauce, plus a small portion of cold chips without any batter bits. Thankyou for ruining my Friday night dinner Chris’

Full choice of food, including kebabs. Busy so fresh stuff coming out all the time. Food was cooked exactly how you would expect from a top fish and chip shop. Service is what stood out the most - the young guy who served me was fantastic. He has to win an award for the best customer service ever received in a fish and chip shop. Just moved to the area and this will definitely be our new chippy.

Having been diagnosed coeliac a few years ago I thought I'd never have chip shop fish and chips again. Discovered Chris's in Barwell and then moved to Hinckley and found Chris's there also do gluten free and it's amazing! My other half shares as well as the portions are so generous and even he can't ell the difference - well done Chris's!

My partner and I have been having their gluten free cod & chips for the past few months and honesty haven’t found better anywhere else. The fish are always large and great quality. The batter is flavoursome, light and crispy. I’ve even converted my partner to eating the GF as it’s so good. Highly recommend
