Abysmal food, will not recommend this to anybody. We were misled with the reviews on google. The food lacked anything to make ot edible. The man behind the counter was not helpful either. As the place did not provide any cutleries or dine in, he instructed us about a park nearby “great views, tables to sit and eat” and to our dissapointment it was a dog park, with no space to sit down or eat without being sniffed at. Extremly unhappy.

This take -away is without doubt the tastiest curry house in the Poole area. Fast delivery, accurate to order, zingy and fresh, good portions, not oily - just fantastic!

Always so impressed with how affordable and nice the food is here. Always quick to deliver and usually arrives before expected, great amount of food and lovely customer service

Prior to learning how to cook BIR style curries, we used to order from lights of India regularly throughout 2022-2023. However, I am now fully competent in cooking a huge variety of BIR style Indian curries so haven't actually ordered a takeaway since December 2023. Unfortunately, both myself and my partner are currently ill with flu so decided to order a curry instead of cooking because we are both pretty much wiped out on the sofa. We ordered at 5.30 with a delivery time of 6.30-7pm which was a bit longer than we anticipated. However then received an update with delivery between 7.30-8pm which was not really acceptable. However, the food was delivered at 6.50pm. Now, being so used to cooking my own curry, whilst the curry was tasty, it was a little oily and overpowering in curry powder. We ordered a vindaloo and a Ceylon with rice and keema naan. Unless we are ill again, I probably wont order Indian takeaway anymore, my own curries are tastier and delivery time is hit and miss.

A truly delightful local Indian restaurant! So much flavour, the lamb we had was very tender, and there was lots of it! Can’t wait to order again soon… super reasonable prices too! Would recommend.

Perfect Dhansak & Biryani! Dhansak has the correct balance between sweetness & spice with beautifully cooked tender pieces of Chicken. Biryani is moorish with perfect rice/meat mix and the Light Of India Mixed Grill is a beautiful dish! Excellent!

Maybe I ordered on an off night but the pathia curry I had was the worst I’ve ever had from anywhere, was swimming in oil had very little flavour and was just sweet, rice was ok as was the naans but I wouldn’t order again just from the experience of the curry :( it’s a shame as all of the good review I thought I was in for a lovely curry unfortunately not the case :(

Tarka Dal is very very tasty and I can recommend as a side to have with “normal” Indian takeaway classics.

I always order from here because I love the cheese Naan bread. Today when it arrived it was stuck in the foil bag and it was just a plain naan bread. I was disappointed.

Estimated delivery time was horrendous, phoned and asked to collect in 45mins which was perfect.

Cheapest Indian I’ve had and one of the best delivery was quick and food was piping hot and tasty. I had the chicken Korma which was beautiful and my partner had the chicken tikka masala which he said was the best he’s ever had !!!

Not a great curry - both jalfrezi and rogan Josh looked the same very very dark red colour and tasted the same, sheek kebab also the same very very dark red colour - too much food dye. Chicken pakora were pieces of chicken breasts with red food dye on and English bread crumbs - very odd. Poppadoms rice and mint sauce all good. Delivery took an hour but food was hot when it arrived. I wouldn’t order again from here as I can get tastier elsewhere.

I used to love this Indian restaurant and had the tikka every time as I like my curry mild but the tikka lately has been so spicy and hot it’s not enjoyable for me anymore. It’s still great food and the rest of my family enjoys it and if you like spice it’s definitely worth it
