Ghurka Spice in Poole

Can't fault this excellent restaurant! Best Mo Mos I have ever had and all dishes were superb. They are passionate about what they do here. Super friendly. Highly recommended.

With a heavy heart, I’m sharing my disappointing experience from yesterday. The staff’s communication was chaotic. After being asked twice about papadams, we ordered them along with momo (without being asked if we wanted chicken or veg initially). Despite waiting 20–25 minutes and clarifying our order multiple times, the papadams never arrived. The billing process was equally frustrating — we received a poorly handwritten bill with incorrect wine prices, which we had to correct. When we mentioned the missing papadams, the staff argued with us and even mocked us in Nepali, unaware that I understood them. For a bill over £100, this level of unprofessionalism and disrespect was unacceptable. It ruined what was supposed to be a pleasant evening. If you doubt us, check your CCTV. If you see papadams on our table, I’ll pay you £1,000 to buy more for your customers.

Best curry around without a doubt, food portions are great and the food is absolutely fantastic. We wont be going anywhere else from now on, we are just outside the delivery range but had no issued with ordering from JustEat. If you like your curry defiantly give these guys a try.

A nice Indian eatery in Poole; good ambience; prompt service.

Top class food and attentive service. Pretty quiet so no atmosphere to speak of. But more than made up for with authentic Indian food. Will be back to try Nepalese cuisine.

Been a couple of times now, a good variety of interesting dishes, prompt service and a comfortable, spacious restaurant.

We stopped by a bit later in the evening on the off chance we could get a table, and they were happy to accommodate us. The food was absolutely delicious, Everest lamb is a must try (we even got a portion to take home). Staff were super friendly, this was a great find and we will be back next time we visit Poole!

Lovely food in a relaxed atmosphere. We had four starters, four mains, two rice and three breads. Everything was delicious and had leftovers to take away. They served authentic Nepalese beer which was a nice touch.

There are a lot of curry houses to choose from in the Poole/Bournemouth area and I would definitely recommend The Gurkha Spice as one of the better ones. The food tastes great and is very fresh, not to mention that the staff there are lovely.

Lovely atmosphere & staff. I always order biryani as I can’t eat anything hot & know this is a safe bet. Unfortunately could barely eat any as very spicy . Never ever had a spicy biriyani before!

I had the prawn padahi and it’s quite simply one of the best prawn curries I can ever remember having. A different flavour profile from the more traditional Indian curry. Simply stunning.

Really good curry, the best in BCP. I always look forward to coming here. The food is never oily or floating in a sea of ghee - just fresh and delicious. Just beware that 'hot' means seriously hot.

Get the Everest Chicken! My fiancée and I are still dreaming about it weeks later… we ate here on a weekend away and had an amazing time. We always try local Nepalese restaurants when travelling and this has been our absolute favourite. The atmosphere and service were brilliant, and the quality of the food was so good we want to plan another trip to Poole to eat here again!

Delicious dinner for two. Dishes accurately labelled medium hot/hot. Recommend the Chana masala and Pahadi chicken. Friendly service. Affordable.

Service was very good. Unfortunately, although we all ordered our usual dishes we all found everything to be much too hot and spicy, despite the chef cooking my dish again with less spice. The restaurant didn’t charge us for our main dishes as we couldn’t eat them due to the hot spices, which was very good of them but unfortunately it was an expensive evening as none of us eat very much as we didn’t want to sit eating rice and Bombay potato. I will say the meat was lovely and tender just too hot and spicy.

I take chicken biryani and lamb biryani it's worst biryani I have ever tested. Fully oil no flavours too much salt. Not recommend for sure.

We had a great time here. I'd read a number of reviews here about the restaurant having slow service but we went on a packed Saturday night and it wasn't all that bad. Admittedly, there was a bit of a wait between the starter and mains, but I'd recommend getting a few starters and/or some poppadoms. Really tasty food (the momos are amazing), cold beer (I really enjoyed the Gurkha beer) and great service.

The starter was not freshly cooked but was reheated. The curries all tasted so similar despite having 5 different things. The food also took 20 mins longer than expected.

Follow up to disappointed when I received chicken instead of lamb rogan josh I ordered my takeaway via Deliveroo but note that if I had ordered through Just Eat I could have chosen lamb OR chicken rogan josh so more the fault of the ordering platform than the restaurant I therefore recommend ordering through Just Eat I have therefore added a point

Nice food but not amazing. We waited for the food nearly 2hrs. Next time would be dining in and give it another go. Nice momos but special biryani was disappointing, it didn't taste very fresh. Would definitely try again as in the menu there is quite a veriety of nepalese food and willing to try more of it.

The order was placed around 18:30 and didn’t arrive until 20:30, we called to see what had happened to the order around 20:00 we assured our food would be soon and hot, however when it arrived it was stone cold and soggy. We paid £37 pounds for the food so I was very disappointed we also live approximately 5 minutes drive from the restaurant so not sure why it took so long I understand that they were busy but why take ion more orders if you can’t fulfill them to a decent standard.

Momos......Momos.... I recommend Gurkha spices for those momo lovers.😋.Tasty,mouthwatering with nice fillings and sauce. They had soothing nepali music and Nepal vibe in the restaurant,very calm .Very good customer service. Starters are good. But curries are typical Uk indian restaurant style curries .Not bad not good. Those who like to chat for sometime with nice food and drinks away from noise .,this is the place.

This is a lovey curry house, generous portion sizes with plenty of meat in each dish and cooked fresh. High in taste without being overly salty. Service was great too- highly recommend best curry I’ve had in Poole. Thank you.

Had a great experience here over the weekend with my Wife. Managed to get a table for two on the sunday evening walk in, we had the poppadoms which came with the usual condiments (chutney, some sort of minty/yoghurt and the onion salad?). Very nice. We both enjoyed our curries I got the Gurkha mixed meat special under the Chef specials and it did not disappoint, had some heat but honestly not too hot. Wife had the Chicken Tikka Masala, sweeter side and not too hot which was to her preference. We got the Pashwari naan with it, also sweet but complimented with the less sweet curry was very nice. Service was pretty quick, we didn't order starters so food came out quicker - was just all around very tasty food, priced as i'd expect and shares a joint top spot with my other favourite Indian food experience.

Good all round Nepalese restaurant. We will go again as we all enjoyed our meals and the menu has plenty of scope for another visit. Not as inexpensive as the location suggested but good value anyway

We have used this place multiple times now through Just Eats rival over the last 18 months, the food is incredible but this is continually let down by the delivery time which is ALWAYS late, this time our order was due by latest was 19.55 it actually arrived at 21.02 after having to chase it twice... 🤨 If they always struggle with delivery perhaps they should utilise the apps riders?!

What a great local restaurant. I am so lucky to live within walking distance of. They do gluten free food for my coeliac daughter. I don't like generic Indian food but the Nepalese food is next level. Can't recommend enough. Eat in our takeaway. Both perfect. Never had a bad meal.

Come down from Birmingham to Haven,Rockley....needed a spice hit, so googled this place.....I have to say....the food was 110% beautiful...Coconut Rice....lovely.....Nan bread lovely and the lamb curry with mustard seeds was in my top 5 ever....and I have had 1000,s countrywide 👌👌👌👌👌 star

Just had a delivery whilst on holiday In Bournemouth. Both myself and wife said that this was without a doubt THE best chicken tikka masala we’ve ever had. You can always tell what an Indian meal is going to be like from the beginning with the poppadoms and chutneys which were first class. But the stars of the show were the exceptional tikka, just as good garlic naan, rice and fries. An excellent meal. Thank you ******

None too busy for a Saturday night but we had a great meal. Nepalese style food and large portions so some for a doggie bag. Food is certainly recommended, drinks are reasonably priced. Dumpling starters are chilli hot which was fine by us mixed meat and a mixed veg platter between 6 of us. Curries and nan breads were all lovely.

Lovely food overall however the chilli paneer was not the nicest i’ve had. £5.90 for basically onions, peppers and tomatoes, 4 thin small bits of paneer per portion. I would order the rest again no problem.
