Very good Indian food and very friendly service from Maruf

One of the best Indian cuisine restaurants I’ve ever been to! This place has been a must-visit for me each time I visit London, either with my family or friends. Just a reminder, this is the comments of a person who worked in a similar restaurant in Stirling, Scotland while doing his masters degree.

Tragic ,,,, tragic The curry comes watery ,,, made with water not stock The portion sizes has halved since we first ordered from them And we've used them many times in the past this ain't just a one off The food tastes tragic no flavour at all apart from spices The cost is fair but why do we have to pay a delivery charge on top of a service charge on top of a bag charge What service do we need to pay for its ordered online Why pay delivery charge on top of that,,, what happened to free delivery All in all All real disappointing meal The last time we'll be ordering from here I'll cook my own curry which is 10x better than this shop at less than half the price

We really enjoyed our late afternoon meal here. The food was nicely presented and delicious, the service was excellent and gracious, the atmosphere sparklingly elegant and we would definitely recommend. I had Murgh Malai Tikka, which is chicken chunks in a creamy cheese sauce, a dish I had not had before, and very tasty. My partner had Shahi Butter Chicken, and we shared a mixed vegetable Salan. The waiter suggested some Papdams with a selection of sauces, some Naan and Basmati rice.

Visited this restaurant for lumch with my wife today. So glad we did. I had Chicken Tikka Bhuna and my wife had Chicken Korma Pistachio. Both meals tasted divine, perfectly cooked and packed with flavour, the sauce, spices and high quality ingredients sent our taste buds into heaven. Very attentive staff, great service and a wonderful ambience all added to what was a fantastic experience.

Fantastic meal! We had great service from Hamed and Ruhel, who were efficient and friendly. We loved our drinks and the food was delicious, so we were very satisfied at the end of our meal and felt the prices were very reasonable for London.

We just had the most delicious Indian food ever., We are from New York and we decided to try this pace as it was next to our hotel! I’m throughly impressed by the quality and freshness of the food. A little (much) too expensive for the quality and the quantity. Not sure why this place is able to get away with charging for these tiny quantities…. But what’s worse is that it’s not authentic. This place was disappointing.

Had a great time at Light of India for dinner. The service is great, Fahid was great in serving the table and recommending items off the menu. I recommend this restaurant for a great Indian dinner !! Food is served rapidly too.

The guy at the front was pretty rude and had an attitude. I asked what the size difference between side and main and his response was "how can I say, one is side, one is main". I never mentioned or asked for a discount, but he made a big deal about giving me a discount if I paid with cash. And when he only gave me the 20% discount for take away mentioned in their menus, he said it is conditional and they give it when they want to. He also hand wrote the bill and never gave me a receipt, which was weird and different from theast time I got food here. The whole interaction was pretty bizarre. I'm staying away from this place from this interaction alone.

My husband and I stopped in randomly to Light of India and we were pleasantly surprised! The restaurant is quaint and beautiful with much attentional to decorative detail. Maruf, our waiter, was very kind and attentive. The food was delicious and fresh. The lamb, chicken, and salmon we tried were perfectly seasoned. I'd also highly recommend the chai old fashioned. It was wonderful!

Lovely dinner at Light of India! Maruf's service was wonderful. We enjoyed Pistachio Chicken and Kerala Prawns. Sauces were delicious! Will return with the rest of our family when they arrive.

Ruhel, our waiter, was wonderful. The food was amazing. I had a curry that Ruhel recommended and my husband had a chicken dish. We both enjoyed all of the foods and the service was magnificent.

Come here if you want your highlight of the meal to be the service and the starters. Everything else is pretty terrible and the sauces have the same slimy texture as goopy rain water. The only plus is that the food leaves your body much faster thanö average. If this doesn’t scream tourist trap, idk what does. Truly mediocre tourist trifle. Also, atrociously small portions for atrociously large prices.

We made a last minute reservation here on Saturday night - my husband has eaten here several times in the last 10 years but this was my first. The restaurant is lovely and bright and has the white cloth set up I like for dinner out. Our waiter Marie was attentive but unobtrusive. We ordered a lamb kebab and pappadoms for appetizer and shared a lamb Rogan Josh with rice and naan for our main course. Everything came out hot and fresh. The Rogan had a delicious flavor and the lamb was tender. I ordered the Royal Shabi ice cream for dessert and my husband had espresso and cognac. The ice cream had a nice flavor was soft and creamy and pleasant to the palette. Thank you Maruf for a memorable meal! Note - we enjoyed it so much we have a reservation for tonight!

Recently spent a week in London and had dinner here twice since it was sool delicious. Food was wonderful, and i have eaten a lot of Indian cuisine! Staff, Maruf was accommodating, kind and attentive. Restaurant is small but bright and cheerful. Reservations recommended!

Had a pleasant dinner at Light of India. Ordered the butter chicken and the kadai gosht. Service was very attentive and kind as Anam and Ruhel offered recommendations regarding portion sizes and gave extra treats after dinner! Overall an amazing restaurant with great staff and great food.

This place was amazing!! It was conveniently down the block from the hotel we stayed at. We did not reserve a table, but I recommend that you do to guarantee yourself a seat. We were served by Anam and Ruhel who were very generous and kind with their service. We ordered the Butter Chicken and the Kadai Gosht which was perfect with the Garlic Naan. After dinner we had complimentary hot towel napkins with some sweet chocolates for after to take home. When visiting London, this is definitely the place for some great comfort food.

The food was decent. The service was beyond disappointing. Think of Fawlty Towers set in India. We had a reservation for a group 15. They rushed us to order but then we waited for an hour for the starters. Dishes arrived completely out of order, the main for some, the starters for others. It was not a good experience. Orders were forgotten and mixed up. People were hungry after all that wait... I told the staff at some point but they said they would be calling next day? What for - the problem was right there!! Fix it. Bring out some naan, some starters to keep people busy. It was a joke. Utter joke. The other group was served more efficently. Took far too long. They apologised for everything in the end but asked for a tip? A tip? Look, if you can;t handle the group, don;t take the reservation.
