When we ordered the web page said that delivery was between 40 - 50 minutes. When we paid we were then given a time of almost 2 hours. Don't order if you are hungry! The poppadoms were obviously not fresh. They were soft. The food was greasy.

Great meal, very attentive staff and good service.

Ordered mixed tandoori starter through just eat and this is first time had chicken drumstick from here but will never order again. The drumstick was literally raw in center. You can even see blood in the meat and have taken pictures of this. Luckily check all chicken before eating because at very least this would have made me very badly and could have been worse. Will never order again and left same review on just eat also.

My wife ordered fried chicken chips peas mushrooms and onions chicken was in chuncks over cooked chips overcooked very dry no peas mushrooms or onions not worth the money ended up in the bin

Okay, so just for context, we love indian food and have eaten it all over the country over the past 35 years, in high end restaurants, in more modest diners and from a huge number of takeaways. So we have a pretty good idea of whats good, whats not, and whats authentic. We had our first takeaway from The Light of Asia on New Years eve. It was VERY, VERY disappointing, and we certainly won't be returning. We had Shish Kebab, Chicken Tikka and King Prawn Bhuna Puree as starters. The first 2 were okay, but the king prawns were swamped in a tasteless, thick tomato sauce. Terrible and nothing like an authentic Indian bhuna. For mains, we tried the Chicken Korma, Chicken Dupiaza and Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi. The Korma had a very odd smell and the other 2 dishes, just like the starter, were served in a really thick tomato sauce. Honestly, it was more like a really thick Italian paste sauce that you might use as an out of the jar short cut for a bolognese and certainly not like any Indian food we have ever had anywhere else. The whole meal was really disappointing and sadly all of it ended up in the bin. I see now that another review mentioned the overwhelming tomato sauce. We wish we had spotted it sooner as clearly things haven't changed much and they are still relying on this thick "paste" as a main ingredient. There really was no taste, no distinguishing seperate spices or flavours, and so was a real disappointment.

My partner and myself have eaten here tonight and can totally recomend. The staff were so lovely and polite and excellent service. The food was absolutely gorgeous and so tasty. It was a cold night outside and the staff even put a heater on underneath the table to warm us up which was much appreciated by myself. Lovely restaurant lovely staff lovely food what more can I say xxx

After being over an hour late,the food was only warm. Will not be ordering from here again there are plenty of Indian restaurants in Redcar

food was delicious, only slight complaint was that it wasn't hot when it arrived, but I am putting this down to how busy I assume they are at this time. Would definitely order again.

Been coming here for absolute years , there are only 2 decent restaurants in the Cleveland area and this is one of them , previously ie 2 years ago the service used to be slow , but not for the last 2 years excellent service , excellent food , set menu Sunday to Thursday is amazing bit even chosing off the main menu on a Friday and Saturday is still brillaint. The staff know me well as im in at least once a month if not more , always give me the table i like - JUST TOTALLY FANTASTIC PLACE

Second time we have used this restaurant, 1st time food was excellent. This time it was just ok, decent portion size but sauce was quite watery. Veg Rice wasn’t very nice full of soggy carrots. Seems a bit hit and miss

Mid week evening, place was a tad quite. I was boring and had chicken tikka masala. It was very good, plenty of meat, nice rich almond sauce. The nan breads very good too

Hopefully this is a one off as always order from Light if Asia and been top notch. Quick delivery which was good. The Malayan chicken was rubbery, chips were limited and the 3 sauces that came with the poppadoms were put ontop of the food instead of down the side like normal. One of the tubs had opened and covered the majority of the packaging of the food which was disappointing. My wife said if this was the first time we ordered from here we wouldnt again but hopefully was just an off night

Having come to Redcar for the first time it was difficult to know where to go for a good meal. We like Chinese and Indian food specifically so looked for these restaurants. We decided on Indian food and looked for good reviews on trust pilot. We decided on Bengal spice as it seemed to have the best reviews, but on booking were put off completely by them accepting only cash payments (very dubious!) So we decided , due to hunger hitting home, to try light of Asia......and believe me, we were so glad we did!. From the moment we stepped in the welcome was excellent and having then sat down so was the service. Looking at the menu it gave an excellent choice of foods (and some i hadn't heard of and i have been to a huge amount of Indian restaurants in my time) and all seemed extremely reasonable in price which seemed a refreshing change! Having ordered our meals they all came hot and you could tell freshly cooked (hot as in temperature not spice) and all had superb tastes . Seriously, if you want a fantastic meal with extremely generous portions and a budget to help your pocket this is surely the place for you to visit if you want that definite experience of true Indian/Asian food. My wife and i will most definitely be visiting again when we go to Redcar again .....without doubt. Peter And Susan Whitefoot

Had a really excellent meal here, including a veggie balti and saag alloo. Did not expect to find such good Indian food in Redcar! Very delicious and extremely reasonably priced, with great service.

The tikka Marsala is in ketchup. By far the worst Indian food I have ever had. Rice was dry, naan was chewy…. Seriously idk how this place stayed in business. Zero curry…. Just sugar…. Straight sugar! Horrible…and it’s rare I leave a horrible review like this. I was looking forward to having good Indian food tonight but😢

I had mixed tandoori grill, the shish kebab was dry as if it has been over heated in microwave. I ordered saag ghost, tarka dhall for my main and my daughter ordered chicken tikka. The lamb was very chewy and the dish was warm, the dhal was too watery and had no taste. My daughter couldn't eat the chicken tikka as it so hard again as if it has been over heated in microwave. When I told the owner about the meal he was not happy. He told one of his staff "This is what you get when you deal with Asian" On a Friday night there was only 2 customers, food was not nice at all. I will not be wasting my money there again. The 2 member of staff was nice.

Always used L O A when i lived in Redcar used to be excellent , but this was shocking. The rice was in lumps , the naan bread was thin and flat looked like it had been warmed up and the meat was fatty. The bin enjoyed it ! Sorry LOA that was really bad

Very fast delivery, very poor quality. the worst chicken tikka masala I've ever bought from an indian, considering its bright colour and thick consistency it was incredibly bland. chicken dopiaza tested watery despite all the oil. garlic naan had barely any garlic on. mushroom pilau was average. I'd guess that the chips had been reheated at least twice. it's a Monday night, i might have been more forgiving if it was the weekend and busy. waste of nearly £40 and i won't be using them again.

Very late and lied.to by the lad on the phone saying going out the door then phoned me.to say couldnt do one of the dishes spoke to the manager and offered free stuff which i didn't want not happy don't take the order if can't do it on time and also do what people have asked for not something else.

Lots of delicious spice, exactly what I would have expected from an Indian restaurant. Generous portions and good prices and it was so refreshing to order prawns and get big juicy prawns!

Food frozen cold when delivered last night after waiting an hour for delivery

really bad last nite 17.00 wasted all went in bin.nann bread hadn't seen an oven chips soggy tasted of Cury which my daughter don't like.the curry was just full of tomatoes n onions awful.hate wasting money

Thought we would try again, food was on time and hot, but the lamb rogan gosh was tasteless and watery just not nice at all, the mrs said hers was just ok, being close to 40notes you exspect your food to be more than just alright, shame as this use to be our go to indian takeaway. this will be our last order.. thx

Initial order time was given as 45 mins. Food came 1:45 mins later! Tried calling to find out where the order was, but no answer. Driver claimed he had only just collected the food, yet when it arrived it was just about warm. Had to warm it all up ourselves, which is a shame as the food itself was tasty.

Lovely interior design and friendly staff. Not a lot to offer on the wine front but we had fun. They adapted curry sauces for vegetarian versions and the mushroom pilau rice was delicious. The lamb and chicken saag dishes went down a treat. English options available for non curry eaters. The poppadoms and pickles are must along with the brilliant nan breads.

Food was really nice, I had the jal jhal chicken which is quite hot and was delicious. Service was great. We went on a Wednesday night so not overly busy, just nice busy. Coming from Leeds this place is cheap, I would have had to pay double in Leeds. I can't stress how nice the food was.
