Best fish and chips ever. They weren't greasy they delicious. The service was fast and very friendly. Wish they had been open on Thursday. Exceptional value for money

Whenever we are in Scarborough a visit to The Lifeboat is a priority and it never disappoints. The best Fish and Chips we have ever had, we have never had anything but a fantastic meal and cannot wait to visit again.

Great food and friendly service When with family and they made us feel welcome. Small dine in area but you can prebook if space needed.

Every time we visit it's better than the last, quite simply The Best Fish n Chips in the country bar none and well worth the 3 hour round trip from Grimsby for lunch

Best fish and chips ever! I used to get fish and chips here during my childhood trips to Scarborough (not sure if it’s the same family owners) but brought my own family back for take away fish and chips and we all loved them! Even converted my children to artery clogging scraps (if you know you know) as we can’t get them locally to us! Lovely staff and good value for money.. even the kids meals were a great size! Would not go anywhere else in Scarborough for fish and chips!

Had fish n chips takeaway and sat by the sea today. Nicest fish n chips we have had that I can remember. Better than Wetherby Whaler easily.

We visited over the bank holiday weekend and booked a table for 4 with our dog. Everything about our experience was excellent! The cafe is very clean, the service from the staff was brilliant and nothing too much trouble. Importantly, the food was amazing. We had haddock and cod, which were tasty, the chips excellent, and the curry some of the best we have ever had. Cannot recommends the Lifeboat fish bar enough and will be our only chip shop to visit when coming back to Scarborough!

We had a delicious dinner at the Lifeboat - chosen because of the brilliant reviews. 2 adults and 2 kids, the kids' meals were a good size and came with a small drink. They thought their meal was "really good - fresh fish and really nice chips which tasted really nice" - literal praise from our 8yr old. The adults had haddock and chips, one with mushy peas and the other with curry sauce. Both accompaniments were tasty, although the peas could perhaps have done with a bit of acidity but that is a personal preference. Portions were very generous and the meal was not too greasy. The staff were absolutely lovely and even though they were busy they made time to check on how our meal was and ask if there was anything else they could get for us. The café was quite small - maybe about 20 people, so if you want to eat in expect to wait for a table. Service was fast though, so they managed to get people turned over quickly. The takeaway was just as popular, with a queue out of the door when we arrived. Very much recommend a meal here, we will definitely visit again if we are in Scarborough in the future.

Went here today for takeaway there was a queue outside the door (always a good sign) we waited about 15/ 20 minutes for our food but boy was it worth the wait, we had the small haddock & chips 6.95 & I couldn't eat all the chips, fish was pure white & so fresh all was cooked to perfection, we live in Bridlington so will be back before long.

Having visited many chippies on the East Coast including the highly acclaimed Magpie in Whitby this is without doubt the best. No wonder there was a queue for the takeaway service

Best fish and chips on east coast! Never eaten in cafe before but tried that yesterday and was lovely to be sat with cup tea as well, top marks to young guy serving in cafe, really friendly and pleasant, and still the best fish and chips!

Can't believe we've never eaten at this cafe before! It's only small and all tables were taken whilst we were there, so booking in advance might be advisable. We enjoyed the most fabulous fish, chips and mushy peas and scampi and chips served by such a friendly and helpful young man - he really is a credit to your team. We look forward to a return visit! We had the most delicious fish and chips we've had in a long time. The fish was extremely fresh and we shall definately visit again when we're in Scarborough. The staff were also excellent.

We visited with our family having seen the TA reviews, and I would gladly offer 6 stars if I could. We arrived at 1:15pm and wished to eat in. The seating area at the rear is quite small and (unsurprisingly) the place was busy at lunchtime. The proprietor was extremely welcoming and friendly and offered to take my number and call me when a table was available, whilst we went and had a pint at a nearby pub. After 25 mins, the call came and we got our table and had I believe one of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had, and trust me, I’ve had lots! The fish is superb quality and well cooked, nice and flaky with a light crunch batter, not soggy. The chips are cooked in beef dripping and if I’ve had better chips than these, I can’t remember where. Simply stunning, Michelin star quality. The staff are friendly and attentive and bought us free scraps too. Highly recommended and we will be back.

I read the reviews and headed for this place after a long walk. I was starving and hopeful. The restaurant is tiny. I entered via the take-away bit and, after the very welcoming assistant (owner?) took a brief look at the monitor which showed there was space, was directed towards the back where the tables are. Service was brisk, but possibly the friendliest version of brisk I've ever encountered. I ordered cod and chips and a milky coffee. (Milky Coffee is one of the options on the menu - I wasn't jut being fussy.) Almost before I'd got out my book, my fish and chips arrived. Yum, yum, yum and yum. The fish was juicy, the batter crunchy and delicious and the chips crispy outside and soft inside. The portion was perfect - I couldn't eat any more. I haven't had time to try other fish and chip places in Scarborough so I can't say it's the best, but when I come back I'll be heading back here - it was everything I hoped it would be.

Lifeboat fish bar is a little gem on the east coast. Fish and chips are a necessity at the seaside, and these are the best we have had in ages. The Cod and chips are first class. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful too. This will definitely be our go to fish and chip shop when we are back in Scarborough.

Absolutely the best fish and chips we've ever had. Haddock was tasty and the batter and scraps not greasy at all, chips just the right amount of crispy and then fluffy inside, breaded fishcake just perfect. The portion size was exactly right and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. If I lived in Scarborough I'd be in there every day.
