Came here for the 1st time for a quick lunch. Nice cafe and decent size. A little busy but got served quick and didn't have to wait long for meal which was good. Nice and friendly staff and affordable prices depending on what you are going to eat. Highly recommend can't go wrong. They offer take away service as well.

I've been going to Life Cafe for several years and it never fails to impress me. The menu is vast and the roast dinners are excellent. They've recently started doing smoothies and the Pineapple or Mango ones are fantastic. They do the best omelette in London (in fact it's almost impossible to find another restaurant in London that does an omelette)! I can't honestly say that I've ever had something I didn't like. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. Long may this restaurant last.

Food was ok but waitress and 1 other staff member mocking customer, never been back since. Staff professionalism is very important to me, tells me everything I need to know about what happens behind the scenes.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

I visited the "Life Cafe and Restaurant" very recently with my wife and father-in-law. My father-in-law had only recently 'discovered' this Cafe / Restaurant and couldn't speak more highly of the place. There's ample 'cafe' style seating for easily 40-50 people, if not more. We were approached by one of the waitresses very soon after sitting down, who gave us menus and took our order for drinks, and came back just a couple of minutes later with our drinks (non-alcoholic) and to take our order for food. The 'Lamb Roast Dinner' had been recommended to me so I decided to have that - if only to satisfy myself what it would be like. If I'm honest I wasn't expecting a conventional 'home style' roast dinner from a Cafe, and thought it would be like one of those 'Ready Meal' roast dinners that have tasteless cardboard like meat. How wrong and very pleasantly surprised I was to get what I call a 'proper' roast dinner with real roast Lamb. Yes indeed this was meat from a roasted joint - either a leg or shoulder of Lamb, and quite a bit of it too. The plentiful roast potatoes were actual roasted spuds, and not the ready made roasties found frozen in supermarkets. It was all served with at least three different vegetables, and a 'Bisto' style gravy that could've been tastier but was ok nonetheless. I asked for Mint Sauce and was brought some in a tiny sauce dish. I followed this dinner with yet another recommendation - the Cherry Pie with Custard. Although this pie was nice, it could easily have been 'bought in' rather than made in house. The custard was just how I like it so full marks on that ! All in all I was impressed with both the level of service and the quality of the food. Would I go back ?? Definitely YES !!!

Fun and reasonably priced Sunday roast experience in the park with a group of four to share the platter with unlimited *huge* Yorkshire puddings. Chorizo works well with scotch egg! A kick to the more subtly seasoned sausage. Crispy shell and runny yolk. Roast beef is well done. Nice bite not too chewy. The beef itself is flavorsome (even without gravy) and has some tendon. Chicken is a bit dry but lean protein is always good. Pork is on the crunchy side and reminds me of fried cha siu. Stuffing has lovely herb taste. The steamed tenderstem broccolis and grilled carrots are great. The cauliflower is indulgently creamy but not too heavy. The kale tart is also quite enjoyable.

Structure in a super central location in London, a few hundred meters from Big Ben. The price, being a hostel, is very competitive. Obviously you have to be prepared for a stay in shared spaces and I find criticisms related to negative behavior of other guests sterile. The structure provides the spaces and services necessary for the stay but it is up to the individual to behave appropriately and with respect for others. I stayed two nights in the room for 6 people and I was fine, there are also others with few places and one for over 20. All are equipped with lockers to store your belongings while you are out, to be closed with padlocks to be brought independently. The hostel is spread over several floors, each equipped with shared toilets and showers. On the second floor there is a kitchen with the main appliances for those who need to prepare something or store food. I found the level of cleanliness good. On the same floor there are also two hairdryers. On the ground floor there is the bar, a very characteristic and colorful environment enlivened by the numerous and fun references to the walruses that give the structure its name. There are various beers on tap, I have not tried the cocktails but they looked inviting. During the week they organize themed evenings but from what I understood the closing time is always around half past midnight, similar to other places in the area. In the morning, however, the room is for the exclusive use of the hostel guests. I really appreciated the breakfast included in the price of the stay, there was bread available to toast independently, butter and jam, cereals, fruit, juices and hot water for tea and coffee. Among the other pluses, free wifi, 10% discounts at two other places on the same street and free and independent access at any time with an electronic keypad. An aspect that may turn off many and therefore should be taken into consideration is the fact that the hostel is practically attached to the train tracks of the nearby station. This means that all day and evening until half past midnight you can feel the related noises and vibrations. In any case, the structure makes this known during the booking phase and provides earplugs. During my experience this aspect did not affect me, since I was out and about in the city all day and then returned late in the evening, but for those who instead appreciate relaxing in the structure during the day, it can be a problem. In conclusion, with this long review I hope to help someone clarify their ideas and evaluate, based on their travel habits, whether The Walrus Bar and Hostel can be the right structure.

Amazing food, perfect service and nice overall atmosphere. The only thing is that ratatouille lacked tomato sauce but it didn’t spoil anything. Caesar salad with shrimps was one of the best in my life. Will be back and recommend 100% to everyone!

This review page is rather confusing. It appears as though perhaps the previous cafe (Perfect Blend) has been rebranded as Nomad Eats and just taken over their web page along with their previous reviews - for better or worse. This review is for Nomad Eats, which at the time of this writing has only been open for a couple of weeks. The good: Staff are very nice, albeit a bit slow, but trying very hard. The bad: First of all, the prices on the menu are higher than what appear online. When this was pointed out to the staff, we were told that the online prices haven't been updated...but... the restaurant has only been open a couple weeks! How out of date can the prices be? Secondly, despite there being a full bar teasing us across the room, we were unable to order alcohol with our lunch. I don't believe this is a licensing issue (not aware of any evening-only type of license), and no sensible explanation was offered. I will (optimistically) chalk this one up to glowing pains. The mediocre: The food. Again, this will hopefully improve as the team get their legs under them, but our lunch would best be described as "unremarkable:". The best part of the meal were the coffees, which were quite nice. Prices are on the high end of average (for Streatham), but generally acceptable. Add to this the restaurant atmosphere which is rather cold (both in ambiance, and temperature), and the conclusion is that there's a lot of room for growth. In fairness, during our visit the place was fairly busy, so either there are a lot of folks who disagree with the above assessment, or perhaps they were just trying it out as we were.
