Bistro Union in Lambeth

We had a great Sunday lunch. We started with an amazing pisco sour and then followed it with one of the best roast beef sirloins I’ve had in a long time. Service was friendly and efficient. Nothing to fault! We will be back!

Poor service considering there was so few people in the restaurant. The server was too bust messing with the wine rather than ensuring tables has cutlery when their next course came. Great food and nice touch that the chefs bring it out on a Sunday

Perfect Sunday lunch. Attentive service, fabulous Bloody Mary. Loved the chowder with fresh crusty beads and butter.

We arrived slightly flustered as we were running j late and on a tight time frame. The manager set us down effortlessly and we both ordered roast beef. It was forgives, plentiful and exactly what we both needed. This is my first visit to Bistro Union and I will definitely be back!

We were a few minutes late but seated quickly. It then took a long time to have drinks orders taken though there were only two other tables occupied! We were served food by the chef who has a few words afterwards. I feel there was not enough aubergine in the moussaka but the cheese grogueres and rice pudding were excellent.

First came in 2014, the first proper restaurant we ate at and it reminded us of the Brooklyn NY unpretentious joints run by ex Michelin star chefs that offered high quality at a very good value, that we were so familiar with. Seems to still be the case at Bistro Union. Am currently enjoying very good wine, delicious compte gougeres, gordal olives, nduja mascarpone bites, a lightly smoked pork chop, and lamb shoulder, all while rudely writing this review in front of wife. Highly recommend. Given it’s tucked away on a quiet part of abbeville road, it’s easy to overlook, but still worth a visit

A great neighbourhood restaurant. The menu has a number of options, small/large/sharing plates so accommodates for all appetites. The service is friendly and professional.

Very good Sunday lunch-aged sirloin nicely rare with yorkshire roast potatoes etc. The small plates are tasty and well designed and the short wine list by the glass well chosen and very good.

We had a very enjoyable, unrushed evening at Bistro Union and the birthday card for my cousin was a lovely touch. The food was tasty and exceptional value. I’m sure we’ll be back for future Supoer Clubs.

Offshoot of Trinity the excellent restaurant at the top end of Clapham Common from which our waitress had come over to help out Bistro Union provides excellent food at prices which are a bit higher than comparable Gastropubs but justified by the quality and attention to detail. Relaxed friendly staff and a fair number of regulars on the Sunday lunch we visited speak to a restaurant which does a good job of delivering its offering. Recommended

Four of us dined have a combination of small and large plates. The small plates being the burrata and Waldorf salad were very average. Without any doubt in my mind I would have made them better at home. The sea bream ceviche was delicious although the caponata was deemed as lacking in the sweet and sour taste for which this dish is known.

Best Sunday roast I’ve had in SW so far, service was remarkable as well and great selection of wines too! The homemade sourdough and butter you get at the start is very moreish!

Amazing waitress, lovely wine choice. Food more on the mediocre side, nothing wrong, just meh. Beef tartare was ok, foie gras was simple, the duck as a main was very run of mill standard. The atmosphere is a bit boring too. Just not there.

Food was very good and service was at just the right level, friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Excellent wine list and a waitress with good knowledge of the options.

We had an excellent meal at Bistro Union. I had the foie gras and chicken liver pate which was amazing, so smooth and creamy followed by the lamb shank which was also excellent. There was a great selection of wines by the carafe too. Great friendly service too, we will definitely be back.

Came with my little boy on a Fri evening for our ‘date night’ and not been for quite a few years. Wow. What a gorgeous local gem. Totally fabulous food and service was exemplary. Interaction with customers nailed. Vibe perfect. What a brilliant place. We will be back and sorry we left it so long last time!

We had a delightful evening meal last Friday night. The waiting staff were so polite and efficient. The food ….well….very flavoursome particularly the trout blinis my goodness they were amazing we actually ordered more !!! The main course dishes also exceptional. A lovely restaurant, food and drinks were all fabulous and the staff really make it feel like a great experience. Nothing was too difficult. We shared the steak and one of our party likes well done steak. They took a portion of the steak and cooked it more for her. No judgement, no raised eyebrows, they just wanted her to have the food how she preferred it. Thank you team for making it such an enjoyable evening. We’ll all be back.

Very disappointing. Service was good but two of our main courses had to be sent back as main ingredient (fish) was expired and this was obvious from the taste. We weren’t offered anything as compensation. Wouldn’t recommend.

Decided to visit Union Bistro following a recommendation by its sister restaurant The Trinity. A good place to go for locals but probably not worth the journeys we undertook (Teddington and Wimbledon Village) as there are similar options much closer to home.

We had a great experience at Bistrot Union today! The service is five star, people are friendly, accommodating and professional. They listen a lot and can give effective suggestions. Most importantly they offer free amazing bread and butter to start with 🤤 The food is nothing but superlative as in any Trinity's venue. Fair price and top quality. We recommend having a main and a dessert; it turned out to be enough for lunch. The couple costs 38£ excluding service charge. The wine list is rich, full of fairly priced options. The house wine selection is great enough and gives the flexibility of having a 500ml instead of a liter, for more moderated sundays ;) South London vibes all over the place!

It’s super comfortable — the kind of place you could happily settle in for an afternoon, as the gang in the bar were doing on the day we visited. There’s a straightforward menu of things that you’ll want to eat. You can go traditional — starter, main, dessert — or mix and match plates to share from snacks to bigger stuff. It’s flexible enough to fit any mood or occasion. We went a bit wild and did both. Snacks included delicious comté gougères and brown crab arancini. Homemade bread and whipped butter was so good that we asked for a second round. For starter, the chicken liver & foie gras parfait was Michelin quality, and the burrata la latteria with romanesco and chilli was like a bowlful of spring. Mains were rabbit in mustard sauce and duck confit. Both were perfectly done. The rabbit falling off the bone and the mustard sauce well balanced with sharpness and creaminess. We were too full for dessert. But Bistro Union really delivered — with fantastic bistro-style food and in bringing us together over their delicious dishes.

Great option in Clapham and sister restaurant for the Trinity. The service was great and food was excellent. If you get the dessert, the basque cheesecake was fantastic! Only star knocked off is because there was no indication on the website that Sunday's have a 'Sunday Lunch' menu (roast). We were looking forward to the normal menu so was slightly disappointed - however the food was still great!

Loved our Saturday night out here. Food was amazing and service was very attentive without being overbearing. Had the duck special and it was cooked to perfection. Wines(red and white )were extremely tasty and complemented the meals very well

Absolutely wonderful restaurant. Great food & drinks. Menu online is a little different to in person but still they cater to every need. We came for our friend’s birthday and despite there being 11 of us girls they served us with pure patience and care. They were attentive, the food was beyond yummy and they made the whole experience great. It felt like the staff liked their jobs and weren’t just being paid to be nice to us lol. I think it’s my top 3 restaurant in London.only photo I have was of our mains as we were all too busy having fun and enjoying the food. Highly recommend the duck starters, empanadas & steak.

Superb Sunday lunch at Bistro Union. Amazing oysters and smoked salmon to start, one of THE BEST beef roasts I’ve had out and a delicious sticky toffee pudding. Great service and a nice vibe in the restaurant.

Such a lovely place with a lovely atmosphere. Food was lovely too. I would recommend the plaice which was to die for. Penelope was the lady who looked after us and was funny, chatty and professional. Overall, my wife and I would go back there. Plus there is free parking onnthe street after 6.30pm.

Really made the feel welcome on entry. Staff made you feel like they wanted you to be there. Excellent value for excellent food. The roast was fabulous and the house red was a perfect compliment to the meal. It will be our Sunday lunch venue of choice going forward!

What a lovely experience, the staff were so kind and friendly. We arrived to celebrate our anniversary and the staff have a signed card on our table. Lovely atmosphere, busy but not swished. The food was amazing, beautiful flavours. We started with the salami, which was tasty, moist and felt fresh. We then had the sharing steak which was delicious, oh the flavouring on it was so tasty and perfect size portions, didn’t feel uncomfortable full, which meant we had space for dessert. The Paris breast was gorgeous. So happy we finally came. A massive thank you to our lovely service, truly lovely evening.

Lovely food and service. When booking for 4pm I hadn’t realised it was the last booking time which resulted in us being the only people in the restaurant before closing despite only having two courses. Not a big issue but had I realised would have booked a bit earlier.

Been walking past here and never popped in, so when I needed somewhere casual, I decided to try. Food was really good - be sure to save space for dessert. Service was outstanding.
