Do not get a membership at this place. The overall experience of the bar/restaurant left a lot to be desired. But the worst of it was that they felt necessary to lock me into a contract that I didn't agree to be in. They sent an automated email after a year of membership telling me it was about to expire, then a few days later took money from my account and told me I had renewed for another year. When I tried to cancel they offered me a more expensive contract!

No entiendo el aviso anterior. . .

Glacial pace service, actively rude to members. Will charge you by mistake again and again. You will spend an disproportionate amount of time chasing down why they have debited your account by hundreds of pounds for no reason. Then wait two weeks for refund. WiFi doesn’t work. Food is appalling - arrives hour late with no key ingredients. Staff shout at each other in front of customers and at members in front of clients. 300 Caroline Flack books and not much else. Lack of hygiene - been forceable shut by westiminster council. I could go on but I don’t want to give this place any more time. Don’t join, risk eating here at your own peril.

The food is sub par - probably because by the time it actually arrives, it's cold and you're so infuriated. The service is SO bad. It would almost be funny if not so frustrating. As a former member, they received AWFUL survey results. The lack of service is non-discriminatory and it seems everyone is treated equally rudely. I can not overstate just how awful this place is and the number of times that I've had to leave without having actually received either a meal or a drink after having ordered because the service is so slow and nobody seems to care. Please avoid this place. London is so much better than this.

I was a little apprehensive about this booking given previous comments but in my experience any issues around cleanliness, hot water etc had been addressed. My room was very comfortable with a good shower and no noise issues. Staff were very pleasant and helpful and the bar was a great spot to relax. Ideally situated for central London sights e.g. Trafalgar Square, the Mall, National Gallery etc.

Celebrated my birthday at this beautiful spot and what an amazing evening it was. My friends still rave on about the lovely surroundings, the staff and the general atmosphere of the venue. Good music and good food. If your are thinking of taking out membership at this private members club you will not be disappointed. The staff are very attentive and always make you feel welcome and there is always a good vibe anytime I have been there. To date of my best birthday celebrations and a big thank you to Ronald for always being the perfect Host. This is definitely a hidden gem in the centre of a very manic London.

I had a great cocktail in the enchanting new Alice cocktail bar , served in style with the decor like Alice in wonderland! Then a 3 course meal in the restaurant, the feel of a private dining room with impeccable service. I had scallops and lamb rump, so tender . The dessert was blueberry cheesecake, I can tell it was fresh and home made ..the biscuit base was crumbly and just right.. i had a great deal of time to spend there with my friend and was mesmerised by the books and scented candle display, like so gothic ..I will definitely go back. The new chef has turned things around big time !

Well if I could have given -5 stars I would, went here with friends for a "murder mystery" dinner. Service was exceptionally slow, the food we did get was delicious but the whole atmosphere of the night ruined it for us. It was an absolute joke, waitresses bringing food out 2 plates at a time at a glacial pace and a freezing cold room! Half the drinks were not available and the manager was nonchalant when we complained. Our friends went for a cigarette in the "smoking area" which had resident rats running around outside and the door was constantly open which was probably the reason for our freezing cold room! Never again for me, go here if you want a painful evening.

My dad booked this restaurant as it had a good write up in Hardens restaurant guide. It was his 70th birthday and three of us had been to a show then were going to Saint Lukes in The Library for an early dinner. As soon as we arrived we were told the restaurant had a private function and we would be in the bar area instead. Once plonked there, we tried to order drinks and were told there was no Malbec (this, out of about 5 wine choice on the menu - all of which are pricey) - we ordered a different red but later - when we were sat at our dining table, the waiter/bar manager produced a bottle of Malbec. Service was slow - we probably waited an hour and the food was so incredibly bland. I ordered a side of chips and my dad also ordered chips with his chicken. When my chips didn't arrive I asked for them - the bar manager brought me some then told me that the basket on the table was mine and my dad's chips had come on his plate - no, I told him, he'd just poured those onto his plate, I wasn't LYING to try and get an extra portion of chips! The last round of wine that we got was different from the first (they gave us two glasses of Chenin Blanc when we had been drinking Sauvignon) It wasn't particularly busy and the only other table that looked like they were eating promptly sent their food back then left so not sure what happened there. I NEVER write these sorts of reviews but I feel compelled to say - save your money, go elsewhere! The unisex toilets were also poorly maintained. The only thing I liked about the place was the furniture and Amy Winehouse pictures on the wall.

My wife and I attended the Library last Saturday evening to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. I made the booking for our anniversary way back on 27th July. It was part of a surprise weekend for my wife for forty fabulous years together. I chose The Library on the back of a very positive review written by a journalist who was reviewing/recommending restaurants in London (I can't recall the publication's name). As you can imagine, it was meant to be a very special occasion for the two of us, which involved a long weekend in London before returning home to Cardiff. Sadly, our experience at the Library fell woefully short of our expectations. When we arrived (on time) at 19.45., we were immediately advised that our table was not ready and that there would be a twenty minute wait. We were invited to have a drink in the bar and given two complimentary drink vouchers, which had been previously kindly offered when we made our original booking – a very nice touch. However, on entering the bar we were met with an area which was crammed with people surrounding the entire bar area (clearly there were a few large party celebrations ongoing). I queued at the bar for at least twenty minutes before being served and experienced being splashed by the bar man when he washed his cocktail shakers at the counter sink. Meanwhile my wife patiently waited for my return. Having got our drinks, we waited a further ten/fifteen minutes before being collected and taken downstairs to our table. I genuinely expected the dining area to be special (as per website images) but was so disappointed by the whole set up. Our table was one of only two tables set for two people and another table set for eight. The rest of the tables in the dining room were not laid up i.e., just bare table tops positioned adjacent to our own table – very stark. The dining area was cold, my wife was cold throughout the entire meal. This was because the emergency fire exit door served as an exit to the outside smoking area which was in constant use throughout our time in the dining room. I lost count of the number of times that I got up from my seat to close the fire door and the adjoining dining room door; it must have been at least ten occasions. Wendy kept saying “not to worry about it”, but I could see how cold she was and I was so embarrassed and cross by the whole situation. Now onto the food. My black rice starter was seriously lacking in prawns. I found three, which were so small that I suspect they were straight out of a frozen food packet – poor. My main course of sea bass had a bed of potatoes which were burnt. Wendy’s salmon was over cooked and dry and the bed of spinach was cold. Our green leaf salad side dishes were forgotten and when we reminded our server she quickly delivered two bowls of green salads leaves without dressing. I got the impression that the salads leaves had been emptied straight from the packet into the serving bowls. Seriously very poor. Meanwhile I continued to get up and close the two doors. My wife then went to use the WC. She asked a member of staff where the ladies WC was and the person opened the door to the ladies and promptly closed it and told her that it was unsuitable for use. As a result she was taken to another WC, which she described as being very unpleasant. Given our experience, we decided not to have a desert or coffee or after dinner drink and asked for the bill. The cost of the green leaf salads were not charged. However the bill of £86 (including wine) did not reflect the poor quality of food and overall dining experience. I must add at this juncture that all members of staff were pleasant and friendly – no concerns on that score. As mentioned, this was meant to be a special meal, treat and experience for my wife. The net result was a very, very disappointing experience, which ruined the evening. I only wish that I had paid greater attention to other Trip Advisor reviews and cancelled the booking before last Saturday, but I trusted the Library's own website and paid the cost.

This should be a really fun place- it has a great location and a quirky and cool interior design. It has decent music and a nice chilled atmosphere, especially during the day. However, the service is terrible. The waitress spoke poor English and couldn't explain the items on the menu. We tried to clarify that we wanted the egg dish with salmon- it arrived with ham (which my friend doesn't eat). the food was cold, the bread soggy, the drinks overpriced. The wifi didn't work. The table next to us got a totally wrong order delivered and we all ended up commiserating. at the end, it took nearly 20 min to pay because we couldn't get anyone's attention.

Just returned from a stay at The Library. We chose the Queen room which had lovely decor however had a window that didn’t close properly. As this room is on St Martin’s Lane, the noise was horrendous. There was also no hot water, complaints which I’ve since read in other reviews. Both items raised with the desk the following morning to receive not even an apology. £205 for a room with no hot water, broken window, shabby bar, croissant for breakfast and unusable drinks vouchers! I have emailed a complaint this morning to receive an auto-response to say the inbox is checked intermittently so could be 14 days before I receive a response. Never again.

We arrived and joined the queue for a table, we were then shown a table by what turned out to be the manager, sat for a while and picked what we wanted. Then what I assume was our waiter arrived and asked us repeatedly if we had jumped over the fence, our explanation fell on deaf ears, he repeatedly asked if we had sneaked in or jumped the fence. No idea why he was so aggressive, we are a late fifties couple, but he treated us like we were stealing something. Eventually we walked out rather than stay and be abused, past the very confused manager who I asked why we were being abused by a member of his staff for merely sitting where he had placed us, no answer other than would we like to have another table when it becomes free. We will never return.

The Living Room is located a 2 minutes' walk from Piccadilly station on a quiet street full of terraces that fill up with neighbors when the weather's good. The music is great and the prices are about average for beer, wine and cocktails. The staff is always very friendly and everyone is welcome!
