Absolutely despicable. The bloke who served me had the audacity not to make the salt and vinegar I ordered stick to my chips! I am a 49 year old woman, I do not tolerate this absolute balderdash.

Great tasty food, just not enough for what you pay for a medium portion, fish was superb and cooked fresh. Fish took over the box and a handful of chips.

just bought what was meant to be a large portion of chips and charged £4.20 the chips barely covered the base of the box. I know times are not easy but this felt like a complete rip off it will be a long time before I ever go back. Lesson learned the place to go in Cupar will be the Central from now on.

Absolutely shocking. Medium fish supper, fish had been sitting and it was a congealed cold mess. Chips cold and pizza a bit warmer but not as warm as it should be. Defo gone downhill. Used to be the best around. Sadly not now. No wonder it’s not queued anymore. Never again. Sorry!

In the past month I've visited chippies in Jedburgh, Kinross, Kirkcaldy and yesterday I was at Libo's Traditional Fish & Chips in Cupar. I don't know what has happened but chippies nowadays are terrible. In each of these places the chips were cold, dreary and limp, the 12" batter was stodgy, brown and flavourless and concealed inside a 4" piece of fish that was well overcooked. Opening the box my heart sank, the meal looked so unappetising, I just didn't want to eat it. The food's not cheap neither, £9.80 for medium haddock & chips. Back in the day chips used to be crispy hot, the batter golden, light and crunchy and the fish chunky and flaky. It used to be cracking value for money. Not anymore. Now I'm done with them. No more "traditional' chippies for me. Money is too tight to be wasted on crap food.

This chip shop used to be the best in the area by far, don’t know what’s happened, nowhere near the quality it used to be and the prices have flew up recently, worst of all is portion size, got a sausage supper, two small sausages and about 15 chips for over a fiver, need to buy two to get a decent portion

Great fish and chip shop, best one in Cupar in my opinion. Only one let down, please cook to order - people would rather wait than have a hard steak pie or a soggy white pudding :( other wise brilliant..

I got take away from here. The service was good but the don't do traditional pie suppers because "they can't get good ones" despite being opposite a great butchers. I instead ordered a small fish and chips as well as a medium one I was already going to order. The small one was tiny compared to the medium. A bit of consistency as well as having traditional pies would be good.

Ordered a variety of dishes for family - all dishes were amazing. Batter was crispy and tasty, lots of chips in each supper. We were stuffed! Takeaway itself was well signposted for social distancing, felt very safe and organised. Top class.

This was hands down one of the best fish and chips I have ever had. They were fresh and hot. Batter crispy and no skimping in the slt and vinegar. We will definitely be back!

First class Fish and chips crispy batter this is the real deal . This chip shop is in a class of its own . Very busy but it does not take long to be served . Open till 11.00 in the evening . They also have a large school trade through lunchtime

This is one of our favourite places to eat if we are in this area. The food is cooked fresh as you order , portions can be small medium ,or large for fish and chips , which is ideal. Food here is really good

My wife and I were in Cupar to visit the deer centre so used that as the perfect excuse to try this chippy. It had been on our radar for a while having seen its decent reviews. In my experience, coastal chippies are always better than inland ones, simply because the fish is fresher. I was, therefore, a little nervous about trying this one. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. We both had large fish suppers. The place is clean and nicely presented and the two lads who served us were both polite and efficient. We didn’t have to wait long for our food at all. The portions were enormous - our large fish suppers included two lovely pieces of breaded haddock each ! The fish was very tasty - while it wasn’t absolutely exquisite (like at Anstruther or Marco’s in Arbroath), it was still really nice and a hell of a lot better than the St.Andrews, Auchterarder or Broughty Ferry chippies, for example. My wife thought the breadcrumbs made it a little crunchy but that’s a small quibble. We both thought the chips were pretty good - not greasy or anything. My pickled onions were delicious. Neither of us finished our meals, not because they weren’t tasty but just because they were so massive - next time we’ll order medium ones instead. Decent prices given the quality of fare on offer. Therefore, we were very impressed and will definitely be going back !

a rainy day in Cupar, had to go to the garden centre, then thoughts went to something quick and hot for lunch on the run, a chip butty would hit the spot, but where from? Not being familiar with Cupar I drove and stopped at the first one I saw, Libo's and boy am I glad I stopped. Hubby jumped out of the car and quite a few minutes later returned with 2 boxes. A lovely fresh roll and plenty of piping hot chips. The chips were so good, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, just perfect. Lovely fresh roll too, only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5, the roll wasn't buttered. Living near Anstruther there are many chippy's, but I have to say, Libo's offered the best chips I have had in a very long time. Will certainly be popping in to try a fish supper very soon.

Religiously have a haggis supper when I get back to CuparPortion of chips has shrunk a wee bit recently but really that ain’t a bad thingHaggis is in my opinion perfect, a wee bit spicy and nice batterAll in all a great meal

Excellent fish and chips on a rainy day in July. Cooked fresh to order and batter still crispy 15 minutes later. Would definitely recommend.

Really excellent fish and chips to be had here. Perfect, flakey fish, fat chips crispy on outside and fluffy inside. All piping hot. One of our party had the haggis too and said it was excellent. Recommend!

Worst chippy I have had in years. Red pudding was dryer than sawdust and lay in the hot plate that long it was rock hard on one side. Chips were ok.

En mi opinión este es sin duda el mejor chipper en Cupar y en los alrededores de Fife.

I am sitting salivating, waiting for my husband to return to the car with our fish supper. We get one large supper between us so there aren't too many chips. Never been disappointed yet.

This is my regular chipshop in Cupar. Food is always nice and served with a smile. They often have a lot sitting ready to take away if you are in a hurry, or if you have 5-10mins they will cook what you would like fresh without any problems.

This chippie is a Cupar institution. Good fish suppers,hot,quick and plenty of it. It's very busy at lunchtimes on schooldays so go early.

Visited here for second time, not sure I'll hurry back. Ordered a smoke sausage supper - there was more cardboard on show than chips in the bottom of the container, chips looked like the night befores. Friend ordered a large fish supper and again chips seemed scarce at £8.60 the price is a little high in my opinion. Overall it was a pretty poor Chippy and overpriced.

Just been to Libos for a special fish supper. Fish was tasty and the homemade tartare sauce was a nice touch. It seemed popular with locals too. We will definitely be back!

Been a while since I had a chance to pop in here again but my fish supper was as good as ever. Went for the large and wasn't disappointed. Busy at tea time and clearly popular with the locals.

You don't need to go to Anstruther for a great fish supper as Libo's is just as good and you don't need to queue for ages. We always stop on our way home after being on holiday.

This time I had a scampi and chip supper, cooked to perfection and ready in only a few short minutes. Friendly service once more from the staff and lovely sitting on the outside benches in the Cupar sunshine. Hopefully I'll be back again soon.

This has to be the worst chippy I have ever been to.Chips had been reheated greasy yucky taste and as for the sausage under armoured plated batter how long had that been standing if it wasn't for the fact that we had travelled a few miles down the road the fryer in that "chippy" would have been wearing his excuse for a chippy.USELESS avoid at all costs

The fish is always tasty and fresh, chips are not greasy and big portions. Service is good and friendly. We have never had a bad meal from Libo's.

The Haggis Supper was probably the nicest one we have had. Staff are polite. Chips can be hit or miss though

We'd known this chippy had been a previous award winner but felt slightly deflated when we saw what was served.Firstly the portions were under what you'd expect from a traditional chippy, the boxes served in where engulfing the contents and sadly the chips felt dried out.Overall the meal was tasty BUT it didn't feel as fresh said hoped for

Having tried all the chippies in Cupar, this is by far the best. Staff are always friendly, food well cooked, portions reasonable for the price. Good menu choice. As a southerner, the only thing I miss is a choice of fish - haddock or nothing - but then that appears to be the norm for Scotland and having lived here for over 30 years I suppose I should really be used to it.

I'm not local to Cupar, but when I'm there I almost always visit this delightful chippie. I'm no stranger to large meals and I find the fish supper portion filling. Food is fresh, hot and the batter crispy. Chips are not greasy and you get a nice range of sizes from chunky ones to those nice little crispy bits. I've tried chicken nuggets and onion rings and these are great as well. A fish supper is my main choice though. Run by the original founding family handed down through the generations and clearly they care about the quality of their food and their service. Well worth a visit if you're in the area or to make a special trip if further afield.

There's no need to drive to the coast or fight crowds at fish & chip shops in Anstruther to get a good, authentic fish and chips meal. Libos does the genre well. Libos is easily located right on the Bonnygate just west of city center. Wee generally found on-street parking close to the restaurant after 6PM or so.This is a take-away-only restaurant and they are cash-only. Make your selection from the small menu, pay, and wait to the side for 5-10 minutes while your meal is prepared. I suggest selecting the medium sized "supper" as even that option was really large and filling. And delicious. They only offer haddock, the traditional fish of fish & chips.Prices were very reasonable and the place screamed "AUTHENTIC" to me. I loved it. And when the food comes - it comes HOT!! It is so hot that in the time it takes to get it home - the food is still too hot to eat! But so, so good.I also suggest getting some brown sauce just to add an extra tang to your fish. I wish I had some now!!!

Popped in for tea ,fish was soggy chips were greasy .....was cooked fresh but was cold pretty poor meal infact should of went hungry rather than pay for over priced cold fish supper

In professional driving mode at the British Open and parked up in Cupar for a lunchtime fish supper. You normally get two pieces of fish in the grimy, industrial central belt but only one here. To be fair, it was a good size but was badly let down by the chewy, pancake-like batter. The chips weren't great either. A good refuel but no more than that.

Cold scrawny chips and small portion size compared to other local chippies. If you must east chips in Cupar then the Mystic Dragon or Dino Pizza have better, hotter, offerings. If you're in Methil, visit the K & K Fish Bar on Methil Brae - this is a great chippie - the food is hotter, the portion sizes bigger and the prices cheaper.

Although I've visited Libos on many occasions over the years, I thought it time to recognise them with a review.I've had many things off the menu, including fish, nuggets and sausages.Everything is cooked to order and served up with a smile from the friendly staff.And unlike other chippers, they tell you how long it'll take.I'm not a Cupar resident, but I don't mind making the 1 hour round trip for some of the finest fish and chips around.

This place is usually brilliant for fish and chips.Just had to chuck the majority of my dinner in the bin as it tasted so bad.Obviously a reheat.You don't expect this from a small town chip shop that usually has a good reputation.

Ive had various suppers from all three chip shops in Cupar and I'd say this ranks 3rd.Smaller portions than the other two chip shops and it's more expensive as well.

For many years Libo's has, I would say, been the best place to get fish and chips in Cupar. It serves a wide range of the usual sort of things you get in fish and chip shops, prices are about average and the place is bright, airy and clean. In 40 years in the town I have visited it fairly often and I have never been disappointed.

We have gone to libos for fish and chips for years. The gish is always good as are all the other foods they do. As fish is cooked to order you know its going to be crispy.

We have made a few visits to Libo's and the quality of both food & service is excellent. If any of our B&B guests are visiting the East Neuk of Fife from Crieff then we always recommend a visit to Libo's on the way home!The fish is always fresh with great crispy batter and portions to make sure you don't go hungry!Easy to park just outside the shop, ready for refuelling!We will definitely visit again and will continue to recommend...

Libo's is our chippie of choice, we have never been let down. We only have fish and chips approximately once every other month so it is important that when we do have them the quality is good. The fish always tastes freshly cooked and the chips are not greasy. Libo's serves a great meal at a bargain price.

Had a fish supper the other month cooked fresh. Superb batter and great chips. Went back the other day tried the haggis pudding, again great batter and the haggis very tasty.

This looks like your average fish and chip shop and in essence it is, but the fish are always cooked fresh and along with the chips are really tasty. The batter is crispy and thin not soggy and tastes great. Please try this chippy you will not be disappointed. And if any of the owners of chip shops in the midlands read this please can you up your game. many thanks.
